'Laren' isn't really sure how she got to this point, but she assumes bad luck had something to do with it. And maybe Aliens.

The life she had before the incident is hazy leaving the first thing to clearly remember is waking up on the side of a wet road in the dark with a pink cat thing floating over her claiming that was somehow responsible for the tragic death of the girl lying in the street. Something which she had strongly argued against for several minutes before realizing that she was now a magical girl.

It was only some convincing of the perks that kept her from trying to use her powers on the thing, but the offer was very tempting for her. 3,000 a month, 10,000 right off the start? She'd take that. The ability to control Fire magic, superhuman powers, A nice magical weapon, and a noble cause to use it for? It sounded good enough for her.  Sure she was female, had to fight in a dress, and face a risk of dying a horrible death but no one said life was perfect.

Though she still insists she wasn't driving that night.
