Probably my deepest inner conflict in our society of
TV (TELE, VISION :eyes:)/
mass media (ME-dea)/
mass broadcast (people pleasing)

That I am to exist within a culture of ME ME ME. Ultimately, using my beliefs and thoughts to promote myself in comparison to my peers.

That I am to esteem myself as "good"; "worthwhile"; and praiseworthy. When often is not remotely the case.

A long time ago now I was enlightened. I decided doing things for other people was what I wanted. Not strictly for myself and my own personal gain and my own personal accounting and my own personal life and my own personal family. I have in fact a minimal amount of self-interest. And I believe our culture totally and completely promotes self-centeredism.

The individual is made out to feel that the world is against him. The only logical way to survive is to beef up his defenses and stay vigilant, leading with outward distrust first, until given reason to extend (if only) a small investment of trust. Loyalty is expected.


There are reasons I spent several years destroying, torturing my own image. They may not be compelling.
