  1. >Be Adagio
  2. >It's Nightmare Night and you're stuck at home handing out candy to kids
  3. >Not like you had anything better to do anyways...
  4. >Aria's in the other room and refuses to answer the door for anyone
  5. >"I'd rather just kick 'em in their teeth before the shitton of candy they eat does it for me."
  6. >Harsh, though difficult to counterargue
  7. >You begin to think about how Sonata's doing
  8. >You remember that she told you that she would be out getting candy with the other kids
  9. >Once a kid always a kid
  10. >You smile at the thought
  11. >She hasn't changed since the day you met her
  12. >Neither of them have, really
  13. >It's been so long that you had almost forgotten about your first encounter with the two of them
  14. >Of course, recent events certainly had you remembering the proverbial 'good 'ol days'
  15. >It had been almost a year since the Battle of the Bands
  16. >You were on top of the world there, having everyone wrapped around your finger
  17. >The moments of that time raced through your head
  18. >How you felt the immense magic course through your gem
  19. >How your rise to power had almost come full-circle
  20. >How over a thousand years of work had almost paid off
  21. >Almost...
  22. >You sigh deeply and look down to your lap
  23. >You begin playing with the bits of candy lying in a large, weighty glass bowl
  24. >As you twirled the contents of the bowl around, you became somewhat mesmerized by the abundance of colors swirling about
  25. >The spell it had you under was eventually broken by a knock on the door
  26. >You stand up, leaving the comfort of the couch, and tuck the bowl carefully under your arm
  27. >You essentially drag yourself to the door and plant your face onto the it, peering through the peephole
  28. >Three kids, two of which are dressed like fairies, and one like a popular superhero
  29. >The adult they are being corralled by is donning what appears to be a princess costume, as if to accompany the fairies
  30. >Ridiculous
  31.
  32. >You breathe deeply, assembling your composure and your best smile
  33. >You open the door with your free hand and almost instantly regret it
  34. >"Nightmare Night! What a fright! Give us something sweet to bite!"
  35. >The bellowing voices of the children almost knocks you off of your feet
  36. >But again, you put on your best face
  37. "Oh goodness, what cute little creatures!"
  38. >Fake
  39. "Two little fairies and a... uh..."
  40. >Honestly, you didn't know who he was supposed to be
  41. >He had on a silver mask and blue clothes with planted-on muscles and that's all that identified him
  42. >The kid then pointed a high tech-looking axe towards you
  43. >"I'm Captain Diamond Dust, ma'am! Protector of the five galaxies!"
  44. >Yeah, whatever kid
  45. "Oh, right right, forgive me Captain!"
  46. >You bow in apology, taking the opportunity to scowl whilst your face was hidden in the bowl
  47. >You rise with the same fabricated smile as before
  48. >You begin taking bits of candy from the weighty bowl and placing them in the almost overflowing buckets of the kids
  49. "There you go, have fun and be safe!"
  50. >You even flash a smile at the woman overseeing the children who returns the gesture
  51. >She looks down to the runts before her
  52. >"What do you say, kids?"
  53. >They all look up to you in unison
  54. >"Thank you!"
  55. >Their departure was almost louder than when they greeted you
  56. >You begin to wave goodbye to them as they turn away
  57.
  58. >As soon as they disappear from view, you completely drop the act, grunt of displeasure and all
  59. >You slam the door and throw yourself face-first onto the couch, using the bowl as leverage
  60. >Another displeased grunt escapes you and is absorbed by the couch cushion
  61. >"Keep it down, Adagio. I'm trying to watch something here."
  62. >Fuck off Aria, not in the mood
  63. >You bring your face up from the soft seat
  64. "Oh, bite me, Blaze. You come here and deal with these little idiots."
  65. >"Pfff. Not happening. You could always just not answer the door."
  66. "You know that's not going to stop them. Remember what I asked earlier?"
  67. >"Would it stop Sonata? Yeah, good point."
  68. >You bury your face back into the cushion
  69. >'Would it stop Sonata' indeed
  70. >Is she having fun?
  71. >Of course she is, free candy and she gets to dress up in whatever the hell she wants
  72. >In a small way, you sort of envy her...
  73. >You were sick of handing out candy to these unbearable brats
  74. >You wanted to have fun too
  75. >But to get candy from adults and dress up for it?
  76. >No, absolutely not
  77. >However...
  78. >You bring you face back up in almost a, literally, breakneck speed
  79. >An evil smile crosses your face
  80. "Aria, get dressed in something dark. We're going out."
  81.
  82. >Be Sonata
  83. >You're having soooo much fun getting candy!
  84. >You've even got not one, but two pillowcases full of candy
  85. >TWO!
  86. >Even Pinkie Pie's got a whole bunch of candy!
  87. >You didn't like her too much, but damned if she didn't make for a great candy hoarder
  88. >Even if she did wear something as ridiculous as a chicken costume
  89. >Hah, like you'd ever wear something so stupid!
  90. >Jeez, it's hard to see through this sheet...
  91. >"Isn't this the bestiest best BEST Sonata?!"
  92. >You could only nod as you stopped to stuff your face with another handful of sweets
  93. >Pinkie brought her hand up to yours
  94. >"Whoa whoa whoa, we gotta wait until the end to count it all. We gotta see who the better candy hoarder is!"
  95. >You swallowed the assortment of chocolate and gummies and continued walking
  96. "No no, I know, I just can't help it. Adagio doesn't really let me have candy."
  97. >At this, Pinkie began to laugh
  98. >Was she making fun of you?
  99. >"Ohh, what a party-pooper. You can have as much candy as you WANT after tonight!"
  100. >As she said this, you saw her reach into her own bag and pull out a few stray gummy worms and shovel them into her mouth
  101. "Hey! I thought we were gonna count at the end!"
  102. >As she was chewing, she shrugged her shoulders
  103. >You sigh, deciding to let it be
  104. >You begin thinking of ways to beat Pinkie...
  105. >Ohhh, there's an idea...
  106. "Hey hey, let's go see Adagio! She'll give us both A BUNCH of candy!"
  107. >Nah, just you, but Pinkie won't know that until after you get there
  108. >Her face lights up under her beak
  109. >"Oooooh, good idea! Let's go let's go let's gooooo!"
  110. >You both take off full-speed to your house
  111. >It's kinda hard though, since you've got like a zillion pounds of candy
  112. >You both get there about a few minutes later, too excited to be exhausted
  113. "Okay, ready?"
  114. >"Ready!"
  115. >Both of you open your pillowcases to receive the waterfall of candy that'll be coming soon
  116.
  117. >You knock on the door a few times, loudly enough to make sure Adagio hears
  118. >Your eyes are glued on the door as you both wait with bated breath
  119. >About ten seconds pass and no answer
  120. >You're still waiting anxiously for her to answer to door
  121. >Twenty seconds pass
  122. >Your eyes move towards the window, just to make sure nothing inside has moved
  123. >Here it comes...
  124. >Thirty...
  125. >Maybe she's getting more candy?
  126. >A minute passes and nothing
  127. >Before you could move an inch, Pinkie takes matters into her own hands
  128. >She begins pounding on the door with an immense amount of force
  129. >"ADAGIO! OPEN THE DOOR! WE WANT CANDY! NIGHTMARE NIGHT NIGHTMARE NIGHT NIGHTMARE NIGHT-"
  130. >She kept repeating those words
  131. >Adagio wasn't coming...
  132. >Oh well, you could always swipe more candy from other kids' bags
  133. "Come on Pinkie, let's just ge-"
  134. >Before you could end your sentence, the light outside of your house goes out
  135. >You jump a bit in surprise, but Pinkie screams loud enough to wake the dead
  136. >Wait a minute, she could probably do that on this night...
  137. >Just the thought makes you a little scared...
  138. >And if that didn't do it, a bunch of creepy moans came from somewhere...
  139. "Pi-Pinkie, maybe we should go..."
  140. >You wanted to leave as much as Pinkie did, as you began shaking nervously
  141. >"Y-yeah, good-"
  142. >And then through the creepy moans came a voice
  143. >"Oh god, no! NO! PLEASE NO!"
  144. >W-wait...
  145. >That sounded like...
  146. >Like...
  147. "A-d-d-d-agio? Is th-th-that you?"
  148. >The voice came from the side of the house
  149. >"AHHHHHH!"
  150. >Oh no
  151. >Without thinking, you abandon your bags of candy and run over to where you heard the noise
  152. >"S-Sonata, wait!"
  153.
  154. >Your feet crush the grass under your feet, almost making you slip from how wet it was
  155. >You stop dead in your tracks at the edge of the wall
  156. >It's then that you begin to slowly creep deeper into the darkness
  157. >You extend a hand to help you move through
  158. "Um... Dagi? Are you okay?"
  159. >After a few yards, your hand touches something warm and soft...
  160. >And wet...
  161. >Wet?
  162. >You attempt to make out what was just a foot in front of your face
  163. >Just as you think you manage a glimpse though, a blinding light fills your vision
  164. >You bring your hand up to your face to block the light and your sight returns to you
  165. >Before you could see what you had touched though, you heard a scream louder than death itself
  166. >"AHHHHHHHHHHH!"
  167. >Pinkie's shrill voice filled your ears, but it was then that you could see what she was so scared about
  168. >It was...
  169. >A pillow with a knife in it?
  170. >And... it's bleeding?
  171. "What's this supposed to-"
  172. >You then felt a hand on your shoulder
  173. >Your body went cold as soon as it registered
  174. >You look over to Pinkie and see a hand on her shoulder as well
  175. >Both of you turn your heads to the source
  176. >A grim expression crossed your face at the source
  177. >A figure with large, spiked purple and teal hair dressed in a black robe
  178. >The scariest part was its mouth was bleeding...
  179. >"WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH MY CREATION?!"
  180. >You and Pinkie both can't help but scream again, darting past the monster
  181. >You cry out for the first person you can think of
  182. "ADAGIOOOOO!"
  183. >You reach the end of the wall
  184. >Home free!
  185. >Just as you feel your body starting to return to normal, another figure appears from behind the wall
  186.
  187. >It's... Adagio?
  188. >But something's off about her
  189. >Wait, is that normal?
  190. >She's...
  191. >Covered in blood!
  192. >"Sonaaataa, help me..."
  193. >You hesitate, but ultimately extend your hand out to her
  194. >"Sonata, no! She's changed now!"
  195. >Pinkie shouts from behind you, trying to keep the monster at bay
  196. >No...
  197. >You knew Adagio, she still loves you
  198. >...right?
  199. >You touch her shoulder, shrugging her seemingly lifeless body
  200. "D-Dagi? It's me, Sonata, re-remember?"
  201. >Her expressionless face remained, though it looked you in the eyes
  202. >You had a bad feeling about this...
  203. >As if on cue, Monsterdagio donned a menacing face and practically lunged at you, fangs and all
  204. >You screamed as far as your lungs could reach and took off as fast as your legs could manage
  205. >"Sonata, waiiiit!"
  206. >You could hear Pinkie taking off after you at full-speed, trying to escape the monsters with you
  207. >You even completely forgot about the bags of candy
  208.
  209. >Be Adagio
  210. >You're back on the couch, digging through one of the four bags of candy that rest between you and Aria
  211. >You fish out a piece of taffy, eying the multiple colors
  212. >You unwrap it and pop the sweet into your mouth
  213. >The chewing was almost bliss
  214. >"Okay, now THAT was good."
  215. >An indirect compliment well-deserved
  216. >The piece of taffy finally unlatched from your teeth and made its way down your throat
  217. >Delicious
  218. "See? Aren't my plans brilliant?"
  219. >You fish a lollipop from the bag and fling it at your accomplice
  220. >She responds with a scoff and a roll of her eyes
  221. >Typicial Aria
  222. >"Yeah, whatever."
  223. >She picks up the sucker and twirls it around in her fingers
  224. >"The look on those losers' faces was pretty great though. I guess I'll give you that one."
  225. >She unwraps the candy and settles it on her tongue
  226. >A genuine smile makes its way onto your face
  227. >You did hope that Sonata would come home, despite what happened
  228. >You'll get a crying Sonata, but it was all in good fun
  229. >She'll understand, you think
  230.
