56. In the aftermath of <a href=">Captain America: Civil War (2016) and in the wake of King T'Chaka's death, young Prince T'Challa returns to his secluded homeland in Wakanda to prepare for his coronation day. However, the new King will soon have to face the technologically-advanced country's arch-enemy, the arms-dealer Ulysses Klaue, who is well-aware of Wakanda's secrets and is determined to make a profit with the aid of the megalomaniac, Erik Killmonger. Can the noble Black Panther protect not only the throne but also the land's very future?
 57. When King T'Challa returns to his home nation of the secluded but technologically advanced African nation of Wakanda, he is put to the test as both king of his country and Black Panther when he is drawn into a conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the world at risk. To defeat his enemies and protect his countries, the king must rally his allies and unleash the power of Black Panther.
 58. I'm really growing to dislike superhero films. There have only been a few that've come out in the past couple years and I've enjoyed. The rest all seem to follow the same tried and tested formula, and do nothing original. The same copypasted laziness I've come to expect from every marvel film popped up in this one:

Bad Villain: The main villain (killmonger) is both poorly written and, for the most part, poorly acted. Michael B. Jordan did a good job of convincing me he was a violent war vet with a troubled past, and not much else. He did a terrible job of looking and sounding genuinely angry. When you confront the man who you perceive as responsible for mass suffering and, in some ways, the death of your father, you scream at them and look angry, you don't just talk to them in a stern voice like they're a chihuahua that just peed on the rug, and have a face like you just noticed someone farted. The one thing I will give him credit for is he was still a better villain than other ones I've seen from marvel, purely because they didn't shoehorn in character-breaking comedic relief for once.

Contrived Conflict: Marvel doesn't seem to know how to create interesting moral dilemmas, and it would have been easy to do so in black panther. An example of a challenging conflict in a superhero film is in Watchmen; the costs and benefits for each side are not clear-cut, each alternative has high stakes, and best of all, NOT ALL VIEWERS AGREE ON WHICH SIDE IS RIGHT. It makes the viewer question their moral fiber, and makes for a very interesting ending.

Black Panther's conflict is ridiculous, but it didn't have to be. If they didn't write killmonger as a bloodthirsty vet hell-bent on using Wakanda's powers to conquer the world and commit genocide, but instead a jaded soldier who wanted to end Wakanda's isolationist policy and share their technology for the greater good of humanity, despite harm possibly befalling Wakanda and the world gaining further power to destroy itself, wouldn't that have been far more interesting? It's an intriguing moral conflict, and it's so plainly apparent this would have made for a better conflict than cut-and-dried lawful good vs chaotic evil.

No plot twists: None. As usual, the conflict is resolved by running around and punching each other. Granted, you need that stuff in a superhero film, but there is no excuse for the lack of a plot twist. Everyone likes a good plot twist, and it provides better entertainment value when the protag uses something unexpected to defeat the antag. The film is for the most part devoid of plot twists, and that just makes it a linear, boring story.

I wish I had more good things to say about this film, but I don't, besides that I liked the look of the wakandan technology, the scenes on the ancestral plains, and the scenery is absolutely gorgeous. The scenes set in Wakanda look great, if you don't focus too hard on the bad CGI animals.

The final thing I'd like to bring up is, I'm reviewing this as someone who enjoys a good film, not a comic book fan, because I've never read a superhero comic in my life. Why am I saying this? Well, I didn't even know the black panther was a thing until this film came out, so all I know about him is from the film. And I know absolutely nothing about him. Sure, I know about the complete history of Wakanda now, and how the suit works, but T'Challa is even less developed than the main villain, maybe even his own father, who's only in the film for all of 20 minutes at most. This film could've been called "Wakanda" and no one would have batted an eyelid. T'Challa takes a backseat to the story for the most part, and is possibly the least developed main protag I've ever seen in a superhero film.

It has a beginning, middle, end, and it looks good. If you like all marvel films, you'll like this. If you're expecting something better than the average marvel film, you're out of luck on this one.
 59. I just came from the movie theater. For all intents and purposes the movie is currently the best option at the current showings during this month so far but hey that says something. First the good is it looks lavishly produced, things look pretty to look at. A little bit dull and melodramatic for me and this is the direction the Marvel movies are going for now. The character came from the comic books and they try their darnedest to make something out of this, even though the character is kind of boring, he is basically a derivative of Captain America or Batman where the superpowers come from heightened physical prowess like strength and leaping around. The African kingdom, a fictional place in which Black Panther is King, seems to be rich and that is its main characteristic and having a prized metal of super strong qualities but cannot let foreigners have it in case they would use it for wrong. Countries bordering around this exalted place get nothing from here, so it kind of reminds me of the USA's detachment from Mexico in the same way. The look of this city has a sort of shanty town appearance while the Royal place is hi-tech and elegant but there are things hovering around streets. The Marvel movies started becoming comedic especially with Ant Man that it effectively made the other Marvel movies look austere and rote in comparison so now with this movie it goes the opposite and becomes dull and melodramatic without any levity. There are scenes of people yearning and just going into emotional bouts pouring themselves out about all of there Royal functions and who should be rightful King. I guess it is one of 2 Marvel movie characters who is of "Royalty" so fine just to get it out of the way(the other is Thor but even there was more levity to that), whatever, just I cannot imagine seeing a Black Panther 2 ever this definitely a one and done. There definitely was some humor because I recall laughing nonetheless, and there should have been more to improve this because when the movie is wafer-thin, just throw in comedy as a last resort and it automatically becomes better if there aren't interesting comic book mythos. This is a case of probably sticking to the comic book of the character to get more enjoyment out of that and my advice is for people to read more of the actual comic books of these Marvel characters because they are great to get lost in and as for this movie my thought is sitting around the dark room with people and eating a delightful hotdog and soda (Rootbeer Vanilla and Mellow Yellow Peach) one can relax thinking of interesting thoughts and not pay too attention to what is going on, this is that type of movie so it all works out anyway.

Peek me on: https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/7497943.Alan_Malraux? from_search=true&search_version=service

https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/13392796.Jon_Mickus? from_search=true&search_version=service
 60. The intriguing thing about Black Panther is that it doesn’t look like a superhero film – more a wide-eyed fantasy romance: exciting, subversive and funny.
