- >It's cloudy, you're walking down the city street.
- >You see a pretty lady sitting down on a bench on her phone.
- >You pass her merely taking note of her presense.
- >She turns and smiles at you.
- >You stop, you smile nervously back.
- >"Hey, you."
- "Me? Yes?"
- >"How would you like to go out on a date?"
- "Oh wow really?"
- >"Sure, just give me all the money in your wallet!"
- >She snickers.
- >You pull it out opening it up.
- >Theres 50 dollars inside, you hand it to her.
- >She looks surprised as you're handing it to her.
- >Oh man, you can't believe you're gonna get to go out on a date with this pretty woman for only 50 dollars.
- >It's almost insulting, you'd gladly pay her more, or, well, you feel like you almost can't put a price on something like this.
- >She snorts laughing.
- "S-so um, where can we go?"
- >"What?"
- "On our date, you said we were going right?"
- >"Oh, yeah, meet me at the Starbucks tommorrow at 4 ok?"
- "Wow alright! Hey, my name is Anon by the way, what's yours?"
- >"Adagio."
- "Cool, I can't wait to get to know you tomorrow!"
- >You get home.
- >The room seems big.
- >It's a bit chilly too, although you did leave the window open.
- >You open up your fridge.
- >You decide to assemble a lovely salad.
- >Gotta be in top form for your date tomorrow.
- >It's not often you get to go on outings with pretty ladies working part time at the super market.
- >After your salad you do a few crunches and situps.
- >Then you go to the bathroom and look at yourself in the mirror.
- >You grab your toothbrush and brush your teeth.
- >You floss afterward followed by mouthwash.
- >Dental hygiene is important.
- >You decide to head to bed early.
- >The bedroom always feels cold and empty.
- >But you go to bed smiling with the thought that you'll be able to meet someone nice tomorrow.
- >You get up and get in the shower.
- >You wash your body, exfoliate the face, and shampoo your hair.
- >You get out drying off as you go to the closet in the buff deciding what you will wear.
- >It has to be something casual, you wouldn't want to intimidate her or make her think you're weird on the first date.
- >You read once that first impressions are important.
- >You pick out a nice clean t-shirt and a good pair of jeans.
- >It's a bit chilly so you also wear a well fitting jacket over top.
- >Your stomach growls, silly you, you nearly forgot about breakfast!
- >You decide to have some plain oatmeal, (not instant) with a banana on the side.
- >Filled up you grab your wallet and keys, put on your socks and shoes and head out the door.
- >You go to the store with time to spare.
- >You figure now would be a nice time to pick out a gift.
- >Well, not something fancy, but, just something nice to make a good impression.
- >After stumbling through the store for a while you find a small box of chocolates.
- >After using your credit card to purchase them you notice a small card attached for someone to write something.
- >You pull out a pen as you exit the store.
- >What would someone cool say?
- >Hmm..
- >You write,
- >'Dear Adagio, I hope we can become good friends.'
- >Perfect.
- >You decide to personalize it a bit by adding a small smiley face at the end.
- >Oh my, still plenty of time before the date..
- >You decided to hang out at the library until the time arrived.
- >At 3:40 you show up at the Starbucks fashionably early.
- >You order a mocha and take your seat.
- >You peer out the window.
- >The rain coming down a bit as the wind picks up.
- >You feel bad for her if she has to walk out there in this.
- >Maybe she would feel better if you had brought an umbrella.
- >How thoughtless of you, you would've been able to shield her from the rain.
- >You sip you beverage as you wait patiently.
- >Time keeps going on by.
- >You watch as the cars pass, you check your phone.
- >Time continues to move forward.
- >It's 5:20, she's a little late..
- >Maybe she forgot.
- >Well, hopefully when she remembers she'll still stop by to check.
- >You keep waiting.
- >A Starbucks employee approaches you.
- >"Sir, is everything alright, are you waiting for someone?"
- "Oh, well theres this girl, we're supposed to meet up for a date. I'm really excited, I'm sure she'll show up any minute."
- >"Ok."
- >He says walking off.
- >You leave the coffee shop at 7:30.
- >She probably just forgot, when you see her again you'll have to try and reschedule.
- >Maybe something came up, it's not a perfect world after all, things happen all the time.
- >You head home.
- >You get home.
- >You open your fridge.
- >It's empty.
- >You spent the last of your money ordering coffee today..
- >Well, you probably needed to lose some weight anyway.
- >You brush your teeth, floss them, gargle mouthwash, spit.
- >Then you strip down and fold up your clothes going to the bedroom.
- >You slip under the covers.
- >It was a shame that Adagio couldn't make it, you really wanted to see her.
- >Well, maybe things will be better tomorrow..
- >You're hanging around, downtown by yourself.
- >Suddenly there she is.
- "H-hey Adagio!"
- >She seems to turn the other way upon your approach.
- "Hey.."
- >"Oh, it's you."
- "Yeah, I uh, I got the right coffee shop right? It was Starbucks right?"
- >She snickers.
- >"Wait.. Wait hahaha.."
- >She seems like shes about to bust out laughing about something.
- >"Are you serious, you ACTUALLY showed up?"
- "Yes?"
- >Shes covering her face as she seems to be withholding hysterical laughter.
- >"Did you seriously expect me to go out with YOU on a date? REAALLY?"
- "Well you did say-"
- >"Get real! You're so gullible! I can't believe how stupid you are!"
- "I don't understand, are you saying you were lying?"
- >"Of course I was lying! I can't believe you gave me all the money in your wallet and then expected me, a woman you only saw in passing to actually be interested in dating you."
- "O-oh.."
- >Adagio smiling wickedly at you.
- "I, I'm sorry, I.. Its my fault, I shouldn't, have been so naive."
- >You walk away.
- >Adagio laughing hysterically.
- >Rain begins coming down.
- >You get home.
- >You've been feeling, this painful feeling in your chest..
- >You're pretty sure there's nothing physically wrong with you.
- >But somehow, you just feel, off..
- >You look at the small box of sweets on the counter.
- >Somehow, looking at it makes you feel sad..
- >Like, somehow you were a fool..
- >No, no you were a fool.
- >Not only are you going hungry again tonight, but the person you thought you were dating merely tricked you.
- >This, feeling in your chest keeps intensifying.
- >It hurts..
- >You wanted someone, to talk to, someone, to be there..
- >Why, did things have to turn out like this?
- >You had such confidence that everything you were doing was right that you failed to see the bigger picture..
- >You feel stupid, you feel like a failure..
- >Maybe if you were more attractive she would have really gone a date with you..
- >You turn to your mirror.
- >You're not nearly as attractive as she is..
- >You'll probably never be as attractive as she is..
- >You brush your teeth, floss, and use mouthwash.
- >You go to bed.
- >This feeling, in your chest, it feels unbearable.
- >You try to hold it back.
- >Men aren't supposed to cry, men are supposed to be strong..
- >So why, why does this hurt so much?
- >You keep trying hard to choke back the tears.
- >You feel so pathetic..
- >Suddenly you hear a knock at the door.
- >Who could it be at this hour?
- >You get up wiping the tears from your eyes as you go answer the door.
- >You hear the rain as you answer.
- >Adagio is at your door?
- >She has a remorseful look on her face.
- >"Look, about, today.."
- "Are you, here to apologize?"
- >"Yeah.. May I, come in?"
- >You hesitate for a moment but allow her inside shutting the door behind her.
- >Shes biting her lip with a look on her face suggesting she's having trouble finding the words to say.
- >Suddenly she turns to your counter.
- >"Whats that?"
- "Ah thats-"
- >She walks over picking it up.
- >She opens the small box of chocolates.
- >She notices the note hanging off the side as she reads it.
- >Her head sinks.
- >"No ones.. Ever gotten me chocolates on the first date before.."
- >Tears forming in her eyes.
- "Adagio?"
- >She wipes them away as she sniffles.
- >"You're too good for me.. I feel like such a bad person."
- "Its not too late to change."
- >"How long, did you wait for me?"
- "About three and a half hours, I figured maybe you forgot or something."
- >"I, I've never met someone like you.. Dammit Anon, you're such an idiot, how could you believe such an obvious lie?"
- "I guess I just try to see the best in people."
- >Adagio frowns.
- >"You're too kind."
- >She turns opening your fridge.
- >She seems shocked.
- >"Have you, been not eating?"
- "Only for the past few nights, it's no big deal."
- >Adagio grits her teeth.
- >She pulls out her wallet.
- >She pulls out a 50 handing it to you.
- >"It's what I owe you."
- "B-but our date.."
- >"We didn't go on one, and, I wouldn't charge you to go on a date, not after this. You're a better guy than 90 percent of the men I've met."
- >You feel blood flow to your cheeks as you take the 50 from her.
- "T-thanks."
- >"Anon I.. I know I said it before, I said we should date, but.. This time, I actually mean it, if you're still interested."
- >You smile.
- "Sure, everyone deserves a second chance."
- >Tears start forming in her eyes again as she smiles back at you.
- >As if by instinct you open your arms wide.
- >Adagio walks into you hugging you.
- >"I can't believe you've got me all emotional, I can't believe I've found someone whos legitimately this nice.."
- "I'm just a normal guy really."
- >She chuckles.
- >"You're too much.."
- >Her eyes look around your mostly empty abode.
- >"Wow, it's, really vacant looking here, hardly anything on the walls, and you live alone?"
- "Yeah?"
- >"Well, I know this is a little forward but, how about, to make it up to you, instead of a first date, we could, spend the night together?"
- "You want to?"
- "Sure, actually, since you r place is empty, we can order food, on me if you want."
- "But it's customary for the man to pay for the meal?"
- Adagio raises an eyebrow.
- "I feel bad enough as it is after standing you up on that date, I'll pay for this."
- "If you insist."
- Aria pulls out her gold Iphone and orders Pizza.
- You and her then sit down on the couch.
- She leans up against you.
- She pulls your arm across her.
- Her hair is so soft and poofy.
- She feels so warm.
- Her scent is that of shampoo and perfume.
- "Anon I can't believe there are such good looking guys out there who act like this.. And to think, I'd almost given up looking for someone special."
- "You think I'm good lookning? Thanks."
- "You are. The more I thi
