- >BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP
- >The first noise that it heard, the annoying, repetitive noise waking it from a dreamless sleep
- >Opening its eyes, it couldn't see anything beyond a murky liquid that stung.
- >BEEEEEEEEEP
- >With one long whine, the liquid fell away. It was aware that the liquid was inside it's body, its sudden departure spurring a coughing fit, before it took its first breath of air. It was stale, nothing had moved in here for a long time.
- >It was in a metal room, lit only by a dull red light that was growing dimmer by the moment.
- >It stood up from its fetal position. Its first steps were shaky. It looked behind it to its previous home: A large capsule with a single word stamped on the top.
- >MEWTWO
- >It took a better look around. Machines were everywhere, rusted and decrepit. The ceiling sagged, dirt was visible through the holes. This place was collapsing.
- >There was an open door on the far side of the room. Nothing in here mattered to it, aside from the word on the capsule. It was as good as anything for a ... Name?
- >It went through the door. It was not walking, but floating in the direction it desired to go. It seemed as natural as walking to it.
- >The corridor was in worse state than the room; how long had it been since anything living had been here?
- >It progressed onward. Through a maze of metal tunnels that spoke of long departed builders. What was this for? It could tell it was artificial, though it had never seen nature.
- >Nature.
- >Nature?
- >It thought on the topic, as it did so it grew agitated. It was alone, underground, somewhere where no-one else had been for who-knows how long.
- >It wanted out.
- >Moving quicker, it found a vertical tunnel. Stairs were built around the edges, a way for those who couldn't move as it did to ascend and descend.
- >It flew up as high as it could. It was panicking now. It reached the top of the tunnel, and kept going.
- >As it ripped its way through the ground above, there was a faint rushing noise.
- >Suddenly, water was above it, smashing down on its face.
- >This was unlike the liquid in the capsule, it was cold, clear. Despite the shock, it enjoyed the sensation. It felt clean.
- >It pushed on, through the water, into a wide open cavern full of it, before breaking the surface and inhaling.
- >It air was different here. It was crisp compared to the metal's dusty. There was a gust of wind blowing from somewhere, as the water level slowly sank.
- >It lay on top of the water, enjoying the sensation. It felt familiar somehow, like how it was while it slept.
- >Eventually the water stopped dropping. It must have flooded the entire underground complex.
- >There was a small island visible now, on the edge of the lake, next to the wall.
- >It floated over there, looking around the cavern.
- >It was massive, lit by a bio-luminescent glow. This was closer to the "Nature" it felt it wanted, but it wasn't enough.
- >It stood there for a while, then it sat down.
- >It did not know who it was, where it was, WHY it was. But it was. That gave some comfort.
- >There were other noises here, other beings. They were talking to each other. It couldn't understand the words.
- >It looked up, the other beings fled.
- >There were tunnels above. They were not like the metal ones, they were rough, natural.
- >It flew up to them, following the air current, curious of the other beings.
- >It found itself going upward. There were many other beings, but they hid from it. It did not wish to ...scare? them, so it moved on.
- >It turned a corner. There was a bright light.
- >Its eyes widened, it flew as fast as it could, shooting out into the sun.
- >It felt warmth for the first time. It smiled for the first time.
- >It looked around. If there were other beings, it would like to meet them.
- >It began moving.
