  3. Let's begin by laying down with your arms by your sides and your legs uncrossed. Loosen any clothes your wearing, close your eyes, and relax. Take a few moments and choose something you want to accomplish tomorrow, think about a color that represents that goal. Maybe blue, or pink, or perhaps green. Something positive and hopeful.

  7. Now, let it settle in the back of your thoughts, in a warm and cozy box.
  8.  
  9. First, I want you to concentrate on the top of your head… it feels really good to relax this area, so I want you to think about those little muscles and the skin of your scalp and just allow them to let go and relax…
  10.  
  11. now all the muscles of your face, just let them let go slack…
  12.  
  13. your forehead and your eyes and eyelids… the cheeks, mouth and jaw muscles…
  14.  
  15. it’s a wonderful feeling when you let your face totally relax…
  16.  
  17. it might mean that your mouth opens slightly, this is okay, just let it happen… unclenching your teeth and relaxing your tongue, because the more you physically relax, the more you can mentally relax…

  19. thinking about your neck and shoulder muscles now, and into the tops of your arms, letting all tensions drain away as you think on down through your elbows…
  20.  
  21. into your forearms… down through your wrists and into your hands… right the way down into the very tips of your fingers and tips of your thumbs…

  23. just letting all those muscles let go and relax… and now think about your breathing, noticing that you’re breathing even more steadily, even more slowly, as you relax more and more, so you can let any tension in your chest simply drain away as you think on down to your stomach muscles, letting those muscles relax, too…

  25. think down into your back now, the long muscles either side of the spine, just let those muscles relax…

  27. and your waist…

  29. and your thigh muscles, as you think on down through your knees, down through the shins and calves, just allowing all those areas to relax and let go, as you think on down through your ankles, through your feet, into the very tips of your toes…

  31. all the muscles of your body beautifully relaxed and easy… very lazy…

  35. I’d like you to use your imagination now. I want you to imagine, to think about a beautiful lush tropical garden. This is a paradise and like a paradise there are only wonderful things here… a peaceful, beautiful garden. This is your garden, its a special place just for you.

  37. You’re lying on a warm grassy area next to a beautiful stream … you’re gazing at the blue sky above … a cloud drifts by and as your eyes follow it across the sky, you feel a tranquil peace fall upon you.

  39. You feel the warmth of the sun, as it cradles your body. The water from the stream bubbling past you with its pleasing melody. The scent of an exotic flower is carried to you by the soft breeze that is blowing and as you breathe it in…

  41. (NOTE: take a deep breath in … exhale and say)

  43. …the perfume moves through you, and with each breath a deeper more relaxed feeling comes over you. A wonderful feeling, a peaceful feeling.

  45. You look up into the lush green trees and at the top of one is the most beautiful butterfly that you have ever seen. It starts to glide, it’s colorful wings outstretched to catch the breeze. You watch the beautiful butterfly drift slowly downward, and as you see it drift slowly downward, so too will you drift into the deepest state of relaxation. So, as I count from five down to one you will feel your body drift downward like that of the butterfly.

  47. 5… Watch its wings as it glides down through the tree tops, things are getting hazier.

  49. 4 … It turns it’s wings to sail with the breeze, you a very peaceful, very relaxed.

  51. 3 … It soars to the lower branches, you can almost feel your body drifting … drifting on air.

  53. 2 … You both drift slowly downward as …

  55. 1 … It lands, and it rests its wings, so do you find yourself calm and deeply relaxed.

  59. You're floating in that stream now, crystal blue water around you. The sounds of the water flowing gently fills your senses, cool against the contrast of that garden air.

  61. Think about the box you brought with you to this garden. Inside it is the goal you want to accomplish.

  63. When you're ready, take that box and open it. Its full of of your goal, its color positive and full of certainty that you will achieve it.

  65. Sprinkle that goal into the stream around you, its color infusing that water. Everywhere the water is colored is warm against your skin. You feel that goal absorb into your body, filling you with its warmth.
  66.  
  67. Only a little bit is left in the box, waiting to be completed.
  68.  
  69. Now, close the lid. Tomorrow, when you're ready to accomplish your goal, visualize that box and open it. The last bit of your goal will be in there along with all the focus, energy, and motivation you need to succeed.

  73. Now, I’m going to count from one to five, and at the count of five, you will allow your self to go into a deep, relaxing, good night sleep.

  75. All right.
  76.  
  77. One: slowly, calmly, allowing yourself to go into a deep comfortable sleep.
  78.  
  79. Two: each muscle and nerve in your body is loose and limp and relaxed, and you feel wonderfully good.
  80.  
  81. Three: from head to toe, you are feeling perfect in every way. Physically perfect, mentally perfect, emotionally calm, happy and serene.

  83. On the number four, you are going into a deeper and deeper relaxing sleep.
  84.  
  85. Number five: You’re relaxing completely and allowing yourself to go even deeper into that wonderful deep, deep, sleep now…
  86.  
  87. Awakening in the morning at the correct time, feeling fully rested, refreshed, relaxed, invigorated, full of energy and happy….
  88.  
  89. And having a good… night… deep sleep.
