- Hey NatChatters,
- I have a tough enuresis cases. Little girl presented last spring with enuresis. Previously night trained. A little investigation revealed she was drinking apple juice at camp. She was and is GFCF. Has always been on probiotics, omega 3s, methyl B12 injections and a B complex (I see her brother for developmental concerns so we went with injections - may have helped her focus a little).
- So, last year, enuresis resolves. And is back this Spring. I have added innositol, pulled all juice, limited phenols.
- Any other ideas? I usually see enuresis resolve with no dairy and probiotics. This case, with seasonal aggravation is tricky!
- TIA for any ideas :)

- Hello, Sonya,
- Well, as I've said, I'm in the camp that one size fits all medicine really doesn't work for all; that is, I'd do a food allergy test on that child and see what she is specifically sensitive to. Since I do a lot of FATs a week, I learned a long time ago, it's just not good to assume everyone has the same allergy and it produces the same reaction in them.
- Also, of course, is there any emotional stress the child could now be under?

- what is GFCF? If you mean gluten free and milk protein free, and not referenicng the glaser family charitable foundation www.gfcf.org/
- then perhaps something else is triggering her reaction. Given that you seem to be blaming apple juice the possible suspects are fructose from the juice or candida growth secondary to the extra sugars. Perhaps she needs to be GFCFAJF?

- I can't say I've tried this, but perhaps a gemmotherapy - oak, (silver fir) abies pectinata and equisetum as a combination.....
- is constipation an issue?

- Homeopathy and Allergy testing as first line for Enuresis.
- Some research shows that high doses of Vitamin C are associated with Enuresis.
- Pt Hygiene: Urinate right before bed-time, Stop water at approx 7 pm (if it is okay with child).
- I was recently reading that Bed-Wetting Alarms (wakes you when senses Moisture) are the most effective "western thinking" means of stopping bed-wetting. I have not tried this and am wondering if anyone has experience or opinions regarding Bed-Wetting Alarms.
- Rewarding Dry Nights with a small toy or special event, etc is also effective.
- Thank you,

- Although it is an incredibly uncomfortable subject, sexual abuse should be considered for children with enuresis, especially when it is intermittent in presentation.
- Also, I have had trouble searching the archives - intermittently. I have followed everyone's suggestions (actually copy/pasted them into a word doc) to no avail. Occasionally, when I search, all yahoo groups pop up. Other times it works beautifully.
- I have clicked on the NatChat group (in left column), then a post to make absolutely sure I am in the group, then typed the key word - still get mixed results. Does anyone know of a setting that needs to be tweaked?
- Thank you so much!

- OK, I am admitting that I was a bedwetter here....
- The bed-wetting alarm worked great for me. As I recall (it was about 35 years ago) within a week or two I stopped. Of course it woke everyone else up in the whole house and then you had to change sheets so it is a tough 1-2 weeks.
- I believe it trained my brain to react to the sensation that I needed to urinate. Otherwise I would just sleep through it.

- Hi All,
- Thank you for all your suggestions and input. Puzzle solved. Switched her fruit choice from apples to pears. Enuresis stopped so I am assuming phenols + Spring aggravation from yeast.
- Thanks again :)
