- Female Bounty Hunter Goes Somewhere And Comes Back To Origin
- The Good:
- - Presentation. Game looks great (although at a low resolution), backgrounds are super detailed and used well. The counters on Metroids and such are stunning
- - Music. Reused stuff from SM/Prime but that's not a bad thing, the game sounds good
- - Level design. There were some annoying areas to go through but most of it was engaging and fun
- - Combat. Fantastic combat system that really utilizes the 360 degree aiming the L button offers, R for missiles is good once again
- - Top screen. Top screen features only gameplay and no HUD elements at all, very immersive
- - Aeion. Was skeptical about this before release but the abilities are super fun to use (other than Scan Pulse for being "nooby")
- The Bad:
- - Aeion controls. Why take up the A button (which could be used as a morph button!!!!) to use Aeion abilites when you could just reselect the one you already had equipped to use it again?
- - Pacing. You feel like paper for the whole game until you get Plasma/Gravity/Screw Attack within 5 minutes of each other, then you're a rock for the rest of the game. Area 3 is AWFUL
- - The Ending. The Queen wasn't necessarily a bad fight at all but it lacked the claustrophobic feeling that AM2R had where you spend the fight almost running from her. Ridley felt like a change that happened just for the sake of being different from M2/AM2R and that's dumb. Queen onward is no longer a peaceful victory lap around SR388
- - Items at the end. Self explanatory, if you already recognize the green crystals you'll know you have to come back at the end
- The Ugly:
- - Power Suit
- - Fusion Suit
- Overall I enjoyed it quite a bit, Mercury Studios did a good job bringing 2D Metroid to 3DS. I think I'll enjoy running this game as well.
