┊ i really want this self-obsessed boy to be lovable just
┊ because i love him and there are tons of narcissistic
┊ characters out there that are so annoyingly lovable like
┊ mystic messenger's zen, who i based a lot of superbia's
┊ character off because zen's story was highly similar to
┊ what i'd imagine superbia to go through)
┊
┊ i elaborated a lot on why he's so narcissistic now to the
┊ point that it's like his background. and you'll encounter
┊ a character in the later part of the story that i'm thinking
┊ to elaborate more on since i think it'd be interesting if
┊ superbia and that character (known as his friend that took
┊ him in) became lovers along the way where that certain friend
┊ had loved him since their beginning in the dance studio though
┊ superbia fell somewhere during the time when he was taken in.
┊ if my oc works as superbia and no one wants him as a love
┊ interest, i'll make that friend the love interest!

┊ he'd suppose it came from all the praise that built
┊ up from his younger years, where the boy had harassed
┊ by strangers as they followed him to touch him or
┊ take pictures of him. he'd been highly bothered by it
┊ then, but grew to get used to it. even so, among his
┊ family, superbia would constantly be criticized by his
┊ mother who contradicted all the praises he got. she'd
┊ frequently call him ugly and would occasionally beat
┊ the boy when it came to superbia asking her why she'd
┊ think that despite what other people said. the only
┊ person then who superbia could confide in was his
┊ father, who would explain that his mother was only
┊ saying those things to 'protect him' from being used
┊ by others due to his appearance. she wanted him to
┊ think that he wasn't handsome, fearing that he would
┊ follow the steps of other handsome men in becoming
┊ unscrupulous and thus damaging the family name.

┊ as he entered middle school, superbia started gaining
┊ confidence due to his looks after being praised by
┊ both teachers and other students, the latter group
┊ even growing to admire the boy. these years had also
┊ brought superbia to discover his passion for dancing
┊ and he'd started spending time after school to do so.
┊ he neglected studying and began to pursue his hobby,
┊ one hidden from his parents in fear that they'd
┊ attempt to stop him.
┊
┊ but it's turned out that superbia was so popular and
┊ well-praised by the community that word spread about
┊ his dancing skills and eventually, the boy's parents
┊ found out. it was then that he'd also realised that
┊ his father had began siding with his mother for him
┊ to drop his silly hobby and diligently study. he'd
┊ later ran away from home and sought help from a close
┊ friend from the dance studio superbia practiced at,
┊ who had taken him in. superbia's parents had never put
┊ in the effort to look for him, and while the boy
┊ would be lying if he'd said that he was hurt because
┊ of it, especially as he'd looked up to his dad a lot,
┊ he didn't let it bother him afterwards. superbia began
┊ to become caught up with his love for performing and
┊ eventually, he started taking people's words highly
┊ to heart. after all, he became sensitive from the
┊ words of his parents and thus, he'd became self-
┊ obsessed. he began to feel highly left out when he
┊ didn't become involved in a certain project, and he
┊ was highly sensitive to what people would think of
┊ his appearance. the boy needs lots of praise and when
┊ not given it, he'd praise himself.

┊ superbia is a good leader in different ways, but the main
┊ reasons he'd been chosen for the spot had been because
┊ he was confident in his own capabilities, good at speaking,
┊ decisive, resilient and empathetic. coming for a rough
┊ background like his, superbia has long gotten used to
┊ criticism and attention so he's often one who can comfort
┊ the other members if it ever becomes too much. he's
┊ persuasive and while the other members may not pay too
┊ mind to what superbia says due to his supposed big ego,
┊ he's good with ideas and decisions, being a mature one
┊ that thinks well in difficult situations.
