- 'The ruined city is the same, half stone, half forest, but I can see more clearly now what it used to be. The streets wind towards the centre, and as I walk them, I see echoes of the people and buildings that were once here. Fleeting visions of life. Am I imposing thoughts on my dreams? I mustn't question these visions too much. If they are part of God's plan for me, I have to accept it...

There was a garden, laid out formally. It must once have been beautiful. At the centre, there stood a fountain. A tarnished, twisted thing, blackened by age and as dry as dust, contorted and bent.
