  1. The Central African Empire SNAFU
  2.
  3. January 8th, 2012
  4. For the past thirty years, the Central African Empire has sprawled out across the Heart of Darkness. Waging wars, engaging in tacit sabotage and serving as the last 'hurrah' of Imperialism.
  5. Until the death of the Emperor Jean-Bédel Bokassa I at the old age of 91, when the ill-mix of militias, professional soldiers, tribal levees and foreign mercenaries turned on the state.
  6. The African Wild West has degenerated into the African Warlord period, as the struggle for the Imperial core kicks up the greatest storm Africa has ever seen.
  7. Will the Empire survive? Or will it splinter? Or perhaps a stranger state will emerge...
  8.
  9. THE RULES

  34.
  35. THE BEGINNING
  36.
  37. January, 2012
  38. After dozens of attempted assassinations, it is with supreme irony that emperor Jean-Bédel Bokassa I perished of Lung cancer in his old age. After months of treatment in France Bokassa returned to his empire in late 2011, though his two most prominent sons remained in Paris. The oldest voluntarily disinherited son Jean-Serge Bokassa beside his younger brother (and heir-apparent) the Parisian Socialite Jean-Bédel Bokassa Jr. likely anticipated the catastrophe to come.
  39.
  40. Mere hours after the Emperors death on the morning of the 8th of January the country began to fall apart, with national radio sabotaged, communications cut and mass defections from the national military. State-sponsored PMCs went rogue, regional militias abandoned ship and emergency services simply stopped working. Mass rioting and looting took place in the afternoon when the remaining channels showed the notorious 'declaration to restore the republic' with the backing of many members of the former Imperial council defecting to the movement.
  41.
  42. This initial period of instability and the devastating losses to the remaining Imperial loyalists and causes further fragmentation of the Republican Coalition. The collapse of the Border Guard, preexisting Russian mercenaries and the radical defections of Shaka Mangue and Superintendent Zanzibar to the nascent Socialist cause turned a two-sided civil war into a threesome, while other threats continued to emerge. As the battle lines were drawn and general stability continued to decline, the prior quiet Islamists were bolstered from over the borders in Nigeria, Kenya, the Libyan States, and Kenya. Meanwhile in the South, en-mass defections from radical Christian nationalists and ethnic breakaways in suppressed and refugee populations risks the complete collapse of Central African Rule. In the final weeks of January, SAF exiles from the Rhodesian uprising flood into the South, while the notorious Boer nationalist Oom Roberts invaded by ship.
  43.
  44. By the 30th, the general areas of control had stabilized, though an enormous amount of the country was still in anarchy and contested. Of the loyalists to the Heir Apparent Jean-Bédel Bokassa II, only the self-proclaimed Imperial Regent Mahamat Ziguele remains loyal from his stronghold in the old CAE core. However he is not completely alone as the 'Wizards of the Gold Coast PMC' under the incognito captain "Western Warlock" and the 'White Panther PMC' under the similarly disguised 'Captain Claw' dig their heels in for a long fight. While the situation seems bleak, there was a reason the Empire survived the past few decades.
  45.
  46. Meanwhile, in the increasingly fragmented and isolated Republican coalition, the lack of genuine leadership leaves the alliance in jeopardy. Though their control of key cities, locations, and diplomatic ties should not be underestimated. Among the leaders of the frayed force is the notorious business strongman Chacha Nzeogwu, former senator and alleged crime-lord Shani Mbanefo, former minister of canals & transportation along the interior and founder of the Benevolent Movement of the Bright Red Cross Monsieur Febou, former general and diplomat to the USA Kameke the 'Jellyfish.' It also significant that the biracial Liberian Rap Artist 'The Eternal Kang' arrived in the CAE and has allegedly bought the loyalty of many soldiers to support the Republican cause. It remains unclear if this is because of genuine conviction in the cause or is merely a publicity stunt to boast his new album; 'Imperial Heroin.'
  47.
  48. Meanwhile despite vast ideological differences between the socialists with everything from PRC allies to Russian mercenaries with Bolshevike Nostalgia to grass-roots radicals, the Revolutionary Front has an advantageous position in the North, with the far East particularly being dominated by their presence. Most prominent being the former members of the Imperial Court. Shaka 'Jade' Mangue and the 'Minister' Zanzibar.
  49.
  50. However several others prominent individuals have risen to prominence, including former USSR General Ivan 'the Bear' Mendevitch, the seemingly leaderless 'Red Tide' of the Central African Expeditionary Red Army, wanted fugitive and alleged Chinese operative Xang-Xi Zhong, and the infamous Mary 'Louve' Tas who allegedly gelds the buisness men she captures.
  51.
  52. The Islamic Coalition in the current chaos is scattered and divided, though it has allegedly established a temporal ceasefire with the Revolutionary Front that it closely borders. Still entering the Central African Empire, the Ghazi are currently fragments, but allegedly boast some of the most veteran Islamic extremists in the world. Three leaders of the Coalition have emerged in 'Mustafa Ali Aidid II' and his 'Last Somali Army' that crossed several countries from Interior Soomalia to join the fight, veteran of the Chechen wars Sidr Bushqani, and the notorious 'Ditz of Boko Haram' Jamā'at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da'wah wa'l-Jihād whose defection to a fringe Tuarag islamic group led to the complete collapse of Boko Haram in Mali.
  53.
  54. Meanwhile, the presence of the 'New Rhodesian Front' has turned many heads in the CAE as exiles and rebels of the Second Rhodesian war migrate en-mass to carve out personal fiefdoms in the chaos. At the head is the notorious 'President Smith' of 'New North Rhodesia' and the following of 'Rhodesian Randy' who have struck a bold (if fatalistic) position in the south. However there are allegations the renegade 'Limey-Lads' PMC are assisting the South African Federation exiles. There are also allegations that Oom Robberts has joined this Front, though it remains to be seen if this alliance will only last until he sees an 'Eternal Anglo' in the flesh and repeats his actions in Pretoria.
  55.
  56. While the Royalist focus began completely on the Heir-Apparent, two individuals have emerged citing the former Emperors 'self-made' example. The former is a young man not even thirteen who rose to the position of Captain in the militias, and now seeks to claim the throne by force. The 'Boy-King' Bamu is an exceedingly competent individual whose story has captured the world, though he is as brutal as his predecessor with most of his forces being from the same child-soldier militias. There is also the self-styled 'Caesar' Dibala Kilhusi at the head of his own 'Imperial Legion' who was himself a dropout of the CAE professional forces and is alleged to be able to win a game of Imperial Billiards in two rounds with a rifle.
  57.
  58. Many smaller forces have emerged as well in the chaos. The Kongo interior has been dominated by two Ur-Christian Factions, one little more than a ruthless warband known as the 'Pale Army' after the Albino 'lord' only known as the 'Ghost of Christ.' The other a budding state called the 'Heavenly Kingdom' by local elements lead by the vagrant preacher Nzinga Afonso Ngoy from Oyo. It is unclear how the situation will develop as more pressing threats surround the two, but in time the deeply polarized Christians may come to blows for who will control the Congo. In the far East in the camps inhabited by refugees from the ongoing Ethiopian civil war a 'New Abyssinia' has been established by a man who only calls himself the Nĕgūša Nagašt, who has managed to somehow draw terms with the Communists and the Islamists. In the South the Congolese breakaways have rallied around the Socialist 'Red Vincent' and his breakaway People's Republic of Zaire that aims to undo the Empires division of the former state.
  59.
  60. Even stranger elements have also emerged, such as the former American special forces operative 'Huge Leader' invading to establish a stratocratic military state for 'all the soldiers of the world.' In direct competition with him is the renegade Beethoven Group PMC under the enigmatic 'Captain Maestro' whose identity is still unclear. There is also the presence of the notorious "M'bugu le Diable" who not only crossed the border from Uganda but has reached Kanem and is currently reeking indiscriminate havoc. Strangest of all are the reports of a 'Pygmy State' in the forests of the Interior that may be responsible for a string of disappearances and sabotage in the furthest Corner of the empire. The arrival of Robberts has also promted the invasion of the southern commerce zone by the 'People’s Peace and Freedom Army' under the estranged militia leader Mobutu Ndungidi. Though this may only be to opportunistically seize the industrialized coasts for himself.

  71. MONTH ONE
  72. February, 2012
  73.
  74. News from the War in Central Africa!
  75.
  76. The Remnants of the loyalist government have consolidated control over the former capital province and including New Bangui, though much of Old Bangui remains just outside of the Imperial government's control. Regent Mahamat Ziguele seems to have taken the careful approach to the war as he slowly re-secures the nation and carefully conserving his few resources, all while ensuring the White Panther PMC secured the North Western flank of their central stronghold. This decision was fully committed to after word came in from Gold Coast PMC that they would stand their ground against Bamu's forces with the Republican Kameke. With threats all around them, an odd uneasy peace exists in the areas now controlled by Ziguele's government as the anarchy fades away.
  77.
  78. Meanwhile in the East, beginning on the 3rd the Onslaught at Vokouma began for control of the North-East rail artery between King Bamu and a temporary alliance between the Gold Coast PMC under Western Warlock and Kameke's clique. All participants hoped for a decisive victory in one way or another, but the siege would go on for two weeks without break. Only ending when threats from the North and south halted Bamu's outright attack. Replaced by skirmishes, by the end of the month an estimated 800 had perished in the attacks against the Warlock and Kameke, though both defenders were worn down and would have been utterly diminished without helicopter resupply. More pressingly the relatively minor casualties both sustained will not be easily replaced, with Kameke losing 4 of his 6 Centurion tanks and half his mechanized vehicles. On the opposite side of the wire despite the atrocious casualties Bamu kept a cautious hand, only losing one artillery piece to friendly fire, and his ranks continue to swell with new recruits and conscripts to try and recoup his losses.
  79.
  80. Against all odds, the truces in the East hold out during the month outside of the minor skirmishes, as the powers that be consolidate their own positions. By the end of the month the Socialist block has nearly connected its North Eastern Groups and are able to advance as a semi-consolidated unit. The Eastern islamists do not fare so well, as word of M'bugu's atrocities committed against the faithful causes Sidr Bushqani to break his stagnant position and make for Kanem, preferring to take the fight to the idolotrists rather than allowing himself to be surrounded by the Communists. While this costs him his border position it may be prudent for his longterm survival. Meanwhile further south, the Rogue Somali army suffers disastrous defeat at the hands of Ota Kem's 'Confederacy of L'Ituri.' Losing almost two dozen trucks and one of his few tanks, the only saving grace is the terrible weather in the Foret region prevented any reasonable counter attack, leaving the initiative again in Islamist hands as March approaches.
  81.
  82. The Independents of the South East have a merciful break as Abyssinia dances a very fine line with the Islamists in the South, Communists in the North and business relations with at least one notorious PMC in the West. Allegations of further human trafficking in the already poverty stricken fringes of Soudan and preparations to invade the weakened Southern Sudanese states and the Republic of Ethiopia abound, though for the time being the Negusa Negust reigns high on top a gold throne with a crown of blood diamonds. Much to the dismay of Abyssinia's prospective southern neighbours. The isolationist state of the Confederacy puzzles the world from its lack of communications, while 'Red Vincents' Zaire breakaway continues to try and free their homeland, allegations state the breakaways are plotting to deal with their northern Neighbours.
  83.
  84. The Rhodesian Front taking the middle centre of the country proves to be extremely advantageous at this stage in the War, as President Smith authorizes his own men and close allies to begin a campaign of destruction, destroying the network of railroads to slow the advance of rival factions around them, firebombing roads and even mining the canal system that lead all the way up to Lake T'chad. These atrocities are downplayed by European elements for reasons that will become clear in the future, but already Smith's willingness to utilize European elements has driven a wedge between himself and Randy, who he comes to increasingly view as an unruly subordinate.
  85.
  86. Meanwhile Dibala Kilhusi's Imperial Army rampages unopposed in the power Vacuum, attempting to proclaim itself as a rival to the Regent's government, however the bulk of his forces lack the discipline and his bravado may only come from the fact he has the luxury of choosing his battles. And at the moment he seems ready to try and press against the Boy King. Further up in Bornu M'bugu le Diable and his feral host strike out across the undefended Kanem, seemingly without goals outside of attempting to maintain his own host as he stretches his grasp along every roadway and rail-line, to the point his followers go entirely without cohesion in their mad dash to pillage and burn under the principle of might makes right.
  87.
  88. Further in the North West, Monsieur Febou manages to secure the Northern line border and extends his control across much of the Northern territory using his extensive vehicle convoy, though he carefully avoids the lines of the advancing communists in the East and South as long as he can. Evidently not trusting his Republican colleagues enough to make a dash for them with the Ghost of the USSR approaching from across the Dunes and Bloody Mary in the South.
  89.
  90. Madam Tas herself managed to scores several decisive victories in skirmishes against Jamā'at and his Ghazi who in turn carefully withdrew to ensure their control of a wide Border, allowing for allies from across the Ummah to come to his aid. Despite his own high morale, the alleged flayings of his men plummets morale in the lower ranks.
  91.
  92. The Decisive Battle for the cosmopolitan commercial zones captivated the world as the deliberately westernized cities burned. Most shocking last month was the arrival of notorious Afrikaaner war criminal Oom Robberts in the Nord zone, however none could have predicted the Battle of Grand Batanga where, on the 18th, almost half of Robberts forces would be lost in mere minutes as they were cut off by a gas line explosion that would go on to almost burn down the whole city district. By month's end, forces loyal to Shani Mbafano (already styling himself as a candidate for future president) find themselves securing the coast and chasing Robberts inland with only the quarter of his forces remaining, though the Boers managed to cut a swathe through resistance and the pressing Beethoven Group.
  93.
  94. To the South in Commercial Zone Sud the battle for the coast the Elite forces of Mobutu Ndungidi and the bizzare Republican coalition under Kang engage in an utter slugfest that leaves New Cabinda in ruins, but somehow still in the hands of the People's Peace and Freedom Army that has captured the hearts of many locals and terrified many Congolese further up the River. Kang himself did not appear to be bothered by the battle though his forces suffered significant losses including the capture of two tanks and several artillery guns. Perhaps because he'd spent the better part of the month on a wild cocaine and Angolan Kira bender.
  95.
  96. Further up the Kongo river in Brazzavile, the combined forces of the 'Ghost of Christ' and Preacher Ofonso suffered heavy defeats attempting to advance into the city to drive out the Central African Republicans under Chacha Nzeogwu. Beginning on the 8th, the attack lasted until the 21st and was disastrous to both sides in terms of manpower costs. It is believed that over 200 of Ghost's 'legionaries' and well over twice that number of Ofonso's followers perished, and despite their starting numbers being halved Chacha's men were able to begin a devastating counter attack that forced both Christian Warlords back to give the Republic breathing room. While Morale is high, Chacha's position is still precarious. For the time being neither Christian seems interested in attacking the other, though their forces remain antagonistic to one another as much as the Republicans.
  97.
  98. Lastly, allegations continue to swirl on the matter of External Sky and Beethoven as the prior leadership bids for their side in the war are sidelined by an anonymous buyer who is believed to be tied to the US industrial complex, which considering Huge Leaders military history may herald future US interference in the conflict. Despite this, Beethoven continues to exploit the situation and further secures its position, if not against the legendary commando building his "soldier's paradise" then for the rapidly approaching remnants of Robberts forces, and the Republican coalition following in hot pursuit. Huge Leader by comparison has been tentative in his position, digging in and securing a border with the Gabonese Confederacy. His presence has served only to attract the odder veterans from across the CAE to his External Sky.
  99.
  100. That is all on the Central African Civil War. More as it develops. Now onto the story about the alleged 'man-chimp' in-

  111. MONTH TWO
  112. March, 2012
  113.
  114. The Imperial Civil War risks igniting a Second Great African War!
  115.
  116. None could have predicted the next explosive turn of events, when the notorious Afrikaner warlord Oom Robberts crossed the Gabon Border! With his defeat in the West and no guarantee the Beethoven Group wouldn't capture him, Oom crashed south through the Republic of Gabon on a rampage as he Trekked further East in a dash to meet up with the Rhodesians. While he lost a half dozen men, each given gasoline cremations, dozens of unprepared Gabonese police officers were murdered in cold blood by the escaping Boers who continued their fighting trek to the end of the month as they prepare to re-enter former Imperial territory. However for the Gabonese the impact has been catastrophic, with the government being Couped by Pro-American military forces under former general Olery Jean-Paul. The New President immediately declared a state of emergency and requested American support to 'finally put down the Central African bear.' Despite his strong words, anti-war sentiment is high in Gabon with the almost 150,000 CAE refugees present and the sudden death of Gabon's young democracy. By month's end the army of Gabon has partially dissolved, with only 2000 remaining members of the defence forces of the former 8000.
  117.
  118. This news is almost dwarfed by the Battle of Bornu in the North, where the renegade 'Lord' M'bugu 'le Diable' has wreaked havoc. Confronted not only by a civilian uprising but the Armies of Bushqani at full tilt coming in from the North, and Bloody Marys forces from the south in a lightening offensive. Others also participated in the battle, with forwards from Mangue's Clique and BMotBRC occupying portions of the North. Despite their viciousness, the Congolese tribals were divided and green, and could not stand against two completely focused armies.
  119.
  120. Beginning in earnest on the 6th, by the 27th M'bugu's army had collapsed with his soldiers being either massacred or outright deserting to escape the confrontation. Despite this, almost a hundred joined Bushqani by converting to Islam and the majority of M'bugu's truck fleet is seized by Mary. Both Sidr and Mary had sought to capture M'bugu, but it seemed the Devil Warlord chose to OD rather than find himself executed. Following the discovery of his body, Mary has begun a slow withdrawal, allowing Bushqani to occupy the predominately Muslim Bornu, though it is unclear why.
  121.
  122. Beyond in the North an uneasy line has been drawn in the sand as the Bolsheviks reach BMotBRC controlled territory, though Monsieur Febou avoids any direct confrontation carefully looking for an opening as he receives significant foreign aid, with his chunk of T'chad still resembling the pre-war. Comrade Ivan Mendevitch and his allies continue pushing West and maintaining a united front. An startling interview with him aired on the 17th in which he (heavily inebriated) left for a moment to cane one of his men harassing an elderly Tuareg woman. Outside of this, morale in the Bolshevik camp is high in contrast to BMotBRC dread.
  123.
  124. Further south the PRC aligned communist advance prompted drastic action from the Usurpers and government holdouts. Bamu clearly realizing his position, and considering the Trekkers and Bushqani's journey, made a drastic play, abandoning the battles against the Wizards PMC and the Jellyfish to strike the advancing if unprepared 'Imperial Army' of Kilhusi. While he lost many in his rear-guards, the strike shocked the rival Usurper. 'Emperor' Kilhusi was quick to mobilize his attention North, but his forces were completely split down the middle in a ruthless onslaught as the Boy King's followers struck south. As March ends they've almost reached neutral territory, though casualties for both would-be Monarchs are in the hundreds.
  125.
  126. It can be decisively said Bamu retains the initiative. PRC forces meanwhile begin moving into Bamu's former territory, though resistance slows them considerably. Even still, it seems this is not their primary objective as Zhong and Minister Zanzibar look East.
  127.
  128. General Kameke and the Warlock Captain seeing the approaching Communists and the occupied Usurpers realize their current position is untenable, and agree to a detente as they escape, after sabotaging the railways and detonating key infrastructure before retreating. Kameke is forced to abandon his remaining tanks and is slowed significantly by the national anarchy, as well as continued road damage from Rhodesian strikes. The Wizards manage to fully relocate to join Loyalists at the Imperial centre, and are welcomed as heroes by Regent Ziguele, who is quick to point them at the centre of the North East's reclamation front. Despite this central position, only minor skirmishes occur with the retreating Republicans and the Limey Brigade, whose own internal affairs keep them from committing. In the North West, the White Panther prepares for an offensive against the Islamists of Jamā'at who now carefully eyes his foes, himself preparing to link up with Bushqani. In a rambling video during the execution of a renegade M'bugu soldier, he seemed more worried about that year's fasting than beheading the man.
  129.
  130. Back in the East of the Country, the accord between the Nĕgūša Nagašt of the would-be Abyssinia and Mustafa Aidid is struck as the two Warlords look East and West respectively, the Emperor eager to reclaim 'his' Imperial heartlands from the Godless People's Republic of Ethiopia and Mustafa fully committing to a second attack against the Confederacy of L'Ituri and the Machete Master.
  131.
  132. Despite the great support from Abyssinian forces and the resolve of the Ghazi, for a second time the Faithful are defeated by the Pygmy army, who despite being outnumbered are able to ambush the invaders in the hills and forests, to disastrous effect. This is not the prior fizzle, but instead a very bloody withdrawal that costs Aidid three quarters of his drone-operators and two dozen of his most veteran field leaders, with several of the Abyssinian artillery guns being capture by the Confederates. However as the withdrawal finished on the 28th it became clear the Confederacy was not alone, as word spread Zaire separatists had assisted the Foret fighters. Comrade Vincent himself would announce a 'Southern Front' the next day, viewing the independence struggle between the two as the same fight, and his other offer responsible for the catastrophic divide in the Northern camp. With this switch it is unclear what Aidid's next move will be with the upcoming invasion East and the threat of the communists. Despite that the self-proclaimed King of Kings remains cheerful.
  133.
  134. Within the prior uncontested Rhodesian front, the unease between the nominally European aligned and vehemently anti-European camp came to a head on the 11th when Comrade Vincent sent a direct message to 'Rhodesian' Randy and his Fire Force. While Vincent recognized he would have been in the ZANU camp, the South African invasion of Rhodesia-Zimbabwe ironically put them in the same place, and Vincent regarded Randy as a notable soldier and a man of some integrity. Vincent asked Randy to attempt to seek a cease fire, nominal borders, and a population exchange with the emerging 'Southern Front.' Randy himself was impartial to this until meeting with Smith who absolutely refused to work with a Communist and a Pygmy.
  135.
  136. The argument that began that day in the 'President's' office culminated in his attempted demotion of Randy, to which the renegade Rhodesian simply returned to his own territory as his men ignored the order. This prompted Smith to order the Limey-Lads to arrest Smith and take control of his forces, which prompted the total schism of the Rhodesians. A quarter of Smith's men and a not insubstantial number of Limeys defected as Randy was flung to the front of a Civil War within another Civil War. Despite enemies in the East and West, Randy now has full support from the southern breakaways and has won international recognition as the 'Last Free Rhodesian' following news of his insubordination.
  137.
  138. In the Southern Commercial Zone, the battle against Superstar Kang and the People’s Peace and Freedom Army continues to wage, though Kang's forces have gained the upper-hand by utilizing their numbers to kill PPFA forces and summarily execute PPFA supporters. Despite continued losses, the General of the PPFA Mobutu Ndungidi maintained he would continue to fight, as he personally led the first strike back north into the now involved Gabon, successfully securing territory he can bring CAE refugees into along with his own forces to buy them much needed breathing room. With his popularity in Gabon it is assumed a not insubstantial number of state forces have defected to him. Kang, seemingly oblivious to his own Armies advances was more interested in meeting with Chacha Nzeogwu and after their forces linked in the final week of the month. A photo of the pair, Kang posing and Mr Nzeogwu looking uncomfortable, has taken the internet by storm.
  139.
  140. Within the Christian Kongolese camp, the sudden involvement of Gabon radically shifted the tactics of the Ghost and Preacher Afonso, as the pair agree to each take a front to cover.
  141.
  142. By the end of the month the forces of the Ghost have preemptively seized much of the Gabonese border while Afonso's Heavenly army played a careful game against the advancing Republican forces, slowing their advance and looking for a counter attack position. This tactic successfully costs Nzeogwu vital manpower and veterans and forces him back after a several casualties. While Afonso's men suffer for their ambushes it is assumed that they have already recouped their losses, while Chacha's clique struggles to train soldiers and fill seats. With access to the southern commercial zone and the global market, the worst of Brazzaville's woes are quelled, but their situation is still precarious.
  143.
  144. Lastly on the War in the middle west. Focused around strange emergence of 'External Sky' that many believe to be behind the US support for the new Gabon Regime, Beethoven Group began their assault on the 'soldier's paradise' under Huge Leader on the 3rd of March. While initially making headway and able to inflict significant casualties against the renegade US operative (particularly against local recruits,) disaster would strike on the 9th when External Sky special forces (allegedly led by Huge Leader himself) destroyed 6 of the 8 Beethoven helicopters and also make off with half of the mercenary PMCs. Huge Leader has also enjoyed a swell of defectors from the war and abroad, including from Latin America, the Baltics, the Levant, and South-East Asia. While this would be bad for Beethoven on its own, Republican forces of Shani Mbanefo's clique would begin their attacks on Beethoven on the 10th, failing to hold much against the Russian mercenaries but forcing the PMC to divide its attention and desperately request reinforcements from their alleged backers against the Massive Commander, if the rumours are to be believed from Switzerland.

  159. MONTH THREE
  160. April, 2012
  161.
  162. Ethiopia Announces an intervention to bring the Nĕgūša Nagašt to justice! More on the African War!
  163.
  164. More and more outsiders are drawn into the Abyss that is Central Africa! On April 2nd the Supreme Leader of Ethiopia ordered a direct intervention into the ongoing CAE conflict in order to capture the Warlord calling himself 'the King of Kings' to stifle the ongoing reactionary activity across the country. This intervention directly brings in the PRE's puppet state in south Sudan, the People's Republic of Jienkaland. Conversely this also brings in the Somali Liberation front that controls the South East against the African Maoist states. The already complicated situation grows more complex as the allegedly Christian King of Kings finds himself ever more involved with the Somali fundamentalists all around him.
  165.
  166. April was dominated by the 'Battle of the Gazelle Sea' in the East, the T'Chad Struggle, and the Gabon Collapse.
  167.
  168. The dominion of 'Abyssinia' drew the most international attention as the absurd decrees have found their way onto western Media. Pressed from the East and suddenly the West by enemy communist forces under General Zhong and Minister Zanzibar and the unprepared Jienkaland Army opposite. Despite this, his men have dug in, and aid comes from the south as Mustafa Ali Aidid withdraws from the front against Kem's confederacy to provide flanking positions against the Red menace. The Abyssinians are also working with surprisingly professional military forces. While the initial headway for the invasion makes decisive ground, the relief of Mustafa completely stalls Zhang and Zanzibar, costing them valuable soldiers for very little land gain. On the opposite side the Jienka forces are shattered when Islamist tanks arrive on the scene, allowing the Aidid and the Nagašt's forces to establish a sizable bridge head in Nilotic territory. Worries that the L'Ituri would invade ultimately prove fruitless with the Rhodesian conflict ongoing.
  169.
  170. To the West of the Soudanese conflict, the battle between the Usurper's rages on, King Bamu and Emperor Kilhusi find themselves locked into a death battle for the Crown-Prince province as their conflict grinds to a halt. Lack of supplies, low organization, and general combat fatigue hits both armies, as while Bamu maintains the initiative he is unable to break through Kilhusi's line. Leaving them both locked in a death spiral as both armies begin suffering desertion in addition to atrocious casualties. Despite this, Bamu maintains he will succeed, and Kilhusi refuses to consider a retreat. Their one reprieve seems to be the communists have their own concerns, and prior Rhodesian air attacks have vanished.
  171.
  172. Along prior Rhodesian controlled grounds, the defection of legendary Soldier Rhodesian Randy splintered the President's Smith's would-be Rhodesia as the prior unfocused breakaway groups under Comrade Vincent and Machete Kem rush north to relieve their odd allied brother. Smith had hoped for an easy victory to crush Randy, using himself and his allies superior number and positioning, but he was caught completely off-guard by Randy utilizing his forces mere hours after he had full control of the 'Rhodesian Loyalists.' Both Smith and the Limey Lads have their forwards cut off and scattered, cutting their forces almost in half when the reinforcements arrive from the south on the 16th in Smith's country and the 19th in LL territory. The Limey Lands are splintered by the advance of the Zaire Red Army shattering their position and leaving them with barely thirty operating members, though they kill 2 for every 1 they lose. Machete's advance against smith is slower, and more ruthless, though Smith is able to withdraw many of his men simply vanish into the night. As the month ends, the unified trio enter talks to establish their three 'sister states' and to defend themselves.
  173.
  174. Oom Robberts having successfully escaped Gabon and reaching territory formerly held by Limey Lads on the last week of April, however upon reflecting on the situation with barely a hundred men left to his name, Oom rejects the 'eternal Anglo.' Upon reasserting his independence he promises to make his way out through the North towards the 'failed state' of Sudan to carve out his own state. A brazen goal, but it may be his only escape option to a state without the men or the bodies to prosecute the Boer Warlord.
  175.
  176. The Southern Republican coalition meanwhile takes aim at the Gabon situation well aware that an American puppet state would be death for their own political ambitions. As April approached and General Kameke emerged from the interior he was able to successfully off the Americans a new deal to avoid granting Gabon support, on grounds that, by March they take July they could take control of the nation along with the runways to get American drone support. President Ryan since the accidental death of Romney has little choice but to accept the deal, and the foreign opinion on the war divides outsiders to the conflict. Operation Equilibrium begins on the 5th, supported by all available Republican forces as they crash through the North, South, and North Eastern borders. The already divided forces of Gabon are unable to sustain the defence, though they do achieve several small victories against the beleaguered forces of Kang and Chacha. Meanwhile, the Ndungidi's People's Peace and Freedom Army is able to withdraw completely from CAE territory, and set their sights on liberating the Equatorial Guinea..
  177.
  178. For Chacha the situation would only deteriorate further as the Heavenly Kingdom and the Ghost Legion came knocking again on the 10th, beginning yet another attempt to retake Brazzaville by the Christian extremists. Preacher Afonso would have much better luck than Ghost, with his men taking and holding ground while Chacha's Gabon detachment would route the legionnaires. Though several would still be lost and crucified. By the month's end, once again the outer districts of the city have fallen, with only Chacha's control of the river keeping him alive as he relocates much of his operating base down river. In the worst case scenario he will likely need to withdraw entirely and might potentially relocate to the Northern Commerce Zone. In a harsh statement he would ultimately decry the Western governments of the world for supporting the undemocratic elements, racialists, insurrectionists and Marxist autocrats while strangling the nascent democratic movement. Meanwhile, Kang would release yet another new album from the civil war, 'Yall cowards don't sling a 50 cal.'
  179.
  180. Meanwhile in the Troubled mercenary corridor, Beethovan company continues their desperate assaults against External Sky as the Huge Leader continues his ruthless sabotage campaign, going as far as to cost Captain Maestro an ear in an attack against their operating HQ. Maestro himself is undettered, a permanent soldier dismayed by detachment from the global scheme he imports men from over the Biafran border as fast as he can pay for them, however he loses quality and ground, with his only boon coming from a detachment send to raid and plunder the Gabon north. Having no faith in their American backers, the company throws their hat into the ring of collapsing Gabon. Meanwhile, the Plus-Sized Commander holds his ground as his reinforcements slow, and he considers drastic measures to open up a land Border with a neutral power, and contacts a certain liberation leader already operating in Gabon.
  181.
  182. The Dramatic battle for the North reignited on the 7th with multiple troop movements from the Loyalist Governments, the CAE Ghazi coalition, the Northern Communists, and the Northern Republicans. Sidr Bushqani and Jama'at Ahl as-Sunnah aimed to strike into the territory held by Bloody Mary, but on the Same day the communist charge began, as did the attempt by Monsieur Febou to break through contested lines. Moreover, the Loyalist press north began, with White Panther, the Imperial Army, and the Wizards of the Gold Coast striking North to preemptively cut off the Ghazi attempting to enter the contested interior. Western observers and journalists would call this the most ferocious conflict to occur since the second world war, as every force present fought above their weight class with determination that puts the Syrian civil war to shame.
  183.
  184. Both Sidr and Jama'at forwards severely underestimated the entrenched positions of the Louve's men and over the ensuring three days of attempted holds, no lasting ground could be taken despite the many trucks burnt out and the many casualties suffered by defenders. When the true extent of the Soviet invasions reached them Sidr broke the assault, opting for the skirmish south, only to run into the forwards of the Western Warlock. A desperate struggle ensued as it quickly became apparent that Republican were riding south, Communists in the East and Mary's dogs pursing from the west. Jama'at upon realizing the desperate situation launched a full Northern operation, losing ground in the south to support Sidr's retreat to the south East, allowing the westerners to bleed themselves. Despite this success, Jama'at suffers atrocious casualties and his position is put into jeopardy.
  185.
  186. Splinters begin to occur in the Communist camp as General Ivan and the red tide are left to their own devices against the manoeuvrable and light forces of Monsieur Febou who enjoys the greatest successes of the war, killing several groups of Red Army scouts, capturing two tanks, and bringing in many locals into the defence against the Communists while pushing south through retreating Ghazi and defiant Hyena-bandits. Despite Ivan's requests for support, Mangue's clique is more focused upon supporting the southern offensives against Abyssinia, leaving Ivan and Mary to coordinate alone against the turn of the philanthropist who struggles to open a passage. All the while the Loyalists continue an impressive press north, deciding to try and quash the northern rebels and the Islamist upstarts in one fell swoop. While they take some losses of major equipment (1 tank and 1 helicopter confirmed) they have put themselves in a position to potentially hunt down the Northern Islamists and to finally threaten the communist insurgency. But it is unclear if they will be able to maintain this great pace as their enemies regroup, and the unyielding Sidr sits on the decision to continue south East, or to try and break through to Jama'at whose position could be quashed if White Panther and the Imperial Army can concentrate on him.
  187.
  188. As the war continues, the international understanding of this conflict has come to terms with the fact no easy or fast victory is coming, and the UN has passed several provisions on the situation to diminish the global impact. But it may already be too late as a new global economic crisis may already be in progress. More on the war as it develops.

  199. MONTH FOUR
  200. May, 2012
  201.
  202. Bloodshed and carnage from the Sahel to the Congo Basin, from Gabon to Ethiopia! The World watches on as many take sides!
  203.
  204. Old allies of Bokkasa's Regime from across Europe and Latin America send support to the Regent's government, and while many western powers did not care for the Empire none could deny the prosperity he brought to Africa. They are joined by an increased presence of locals despondent and migrating to the Old Core. The Republicans do not have such national acclaim, however western Business and western governments tacitly continue their support. Loyalty may not be high, but the promise of food and internet draws many to serve. The Communists in the North meanwhile enjoy the tacit support of the PRC, and broader support of the newly elected Russian Government. Vladimir Putin's comments back in January on the Bolshevik volunteers managing to unite a full coalition against him, with General Ivan Mendevitch becoming an infamous figure. The Communists also have widespread local backing from the lower classes who did not enjoy the prosperity of the developing cities. The Islamist front in the East and West continue to receive a supply of foreign body, while local orthodox Muslims flock to Bushqani's cause in the interior.
  205.
  206. Smith's Rhodesia is unable to get much support outside of a supply of what some describe as 'Rhodesian Larpers' from America and England, while many Anglo South Africans dissatisfied with marginalization flock north to RR's 'Čornaja Ruś' or 'Randesia' as some call it. Independent Marxists continue to find haven in the Zaire and widespread migrations of other Pygmy ethnicities continues into the Confederacy lands. Mercenaries continue to arrive willing to fight for the various PMC's involved, though many suspect national governments are signing men on to further their own interests and giving them discounted equipment. Only one man manages to reach Oom Robberts as he continues his Trek to the East.
  207.
  208. Usurper forces of Bamu are also bolstered with hundreds of Orphans and disaffected Youth, even from outside the CAE travel to serve in the hopes of winning their futures. His opposite Emperor Kilhusi enjoys less fortune, being forced into conscription en-mass to keep his lines together and suffers a string of logistical weaknesses, many of his men no longer able to waste rounds. External Sky and the People's Peace and Freedom Army enjoy a flush of foreign allies travelling from all across the world, abandoning PMCs and military organizations to join with a Stratocratic order. In the East, many reactionaries flock to the self-proclaimed Nĕgūša Nagašt.
  209.
  210. The Governments of Gabon, Jienkaland, and Ethiopia are not so fortunate and by the beginning of May enforce conscription to try and support their interventions into the CAE, with though in Gabon it is likely these efforts only further reduce the men present and able to resist the incursions of Republican elements now fighting for the attention of a vehemently 'anti-war in Africa' United States. Allegations swirl even the governments of India, Pakistan, The dominion of South Africa, Nigeria, Algeria, Australia, Poland, and Ukraine are ramping up efforts to influence the conflict.
  211.
  212. Now back to the battle coverage for the month of May.
  213.
  214. With the Ogaden Insurgency pledging allegiance to Mustafa Aidid, it would seem that the Ethiopian conflict has integrated into the wider CAE conflict, and the Ethiopian army already exhausted from three years of attempting to quash the Islamist backed separatists are beginning to lose ground to infiltrators along the vast interior. Though many foreign spectators note the both sides are utterly exhausted now that Ethiopian forces are now being shipped to Jienkaland.
  215.
  216. Meanwhile in the Sudanese breakaway state, disaster would strike as the Self-Proclaimed Emperor would commit to a full strike before Ethiopian forces could settle, and with Mustafa's support he is able to slug his way through, shattering the unstable Jienkaland lines and capturing the capital. It is believed that the former premier of Jienkaland and the majority of his government perished when the senate building was struck by artillery, but beyond that, Jienkaland has collapsed into violence. Shiite insurgents, anti-islamist militias, and Pro-Russian communist remnants now pose much more threat than the Jienkaland government did, and by the 25th, Ethiopian military forces only held the border regions of their former puppet state.
  217.
  218. In the West, even when the Jinping scandal hits the forces of Minister Zanzibar and the Warlord Xang attempt to continue their push to strangle the Islamist - Abyssinian threat to the north East. While they are able to make nominal gains, Mustafa's mobile forces make it almost impossible to hold territory, as the Islamists continue to sabotage enemy lines while burning everything they can before withdrawing. Meanwhile the dug in Abyssinian defenders are able to take withstand the continued bombardment, transforming a significant chunk of Soudan into killing fields. Thousands flee the region to the south into Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
  219.
  220. Further into the contested Crown-Prince province, the battle rages on between King Bamu and Emperor Kilhusi as the entrenched positions are slugged out into a back and forth, with Kilhusi only nominally holding the initiative as hundreds are lost on either side of the battle, as much as to attrition and desertion as to the suppressive fire and suicide bombings both sides now employ. Violence is rampant and the observed atrocities damage both on the international stage, but even despite this the pair remain locked in their death struggle.
  221.
  222. Their armies in tatters and yet unwilling to concede. Many compare the violence to the prior Yugoslav collapse as law and order are nonexistent, with the Urban / Rural divide turning violent. For the first time in decades starvation threatens the entire province.
  223.
  224. A new threat also emerges to Aidids position in the East, though it isn't the his nemesis Machete Kem, instead it is Smith's government striking out to acquire much needed equipment and some dare even whisper open the border to Uganda. The deemed 'non threat' of Smith's 'London Puppet-state' caught Ghazi positions off guard and moved in fast to 'deal with' the Muslim presence. Since the 18th, Smith's forces have detonated multiple Mosques as he attempts (and in some part succeeds) in unnerving the Muslim presence in the South East, if only to demoralize any future aggression as his southern forces and allies attempted to press south. Relocating the remaining Limey Lads PMC more directly with his forces and utilizing their tanks and remaining air support to his surviving loyalists, Smith desperately sought to restore his legitimacy as the 'true Rhodesia' by compare to Randy's 'Basically Slavic puppet government.' Despite his strong words, the struggle that began on the 20th would be fraught with disaster as the Green LLPMC support would get pushed further back and be down to a single helicopter and one old Jumbo tank by the month's end, while Smith's forces would grind themselves down on Randy's defensive positions. Almost none of Smith's original forces survive leaving him with a nearly American army and with rumours his "former" SAS allies might shoot him in the back, while Randy and Vincent support Kem's slow advance into the north.
  225.
  226. The Southern alliance has continued to stabilize as Comrade Vincent, identifying himself as an independent Socialist in response to PRC and Russian politics, ratified the new Zaire constitution and has begun working towards a common market with the Confederacy and Randesia.
  227.
  228. Most ironically, several of Smith's allies would defect as Oom rolled through the region, his forces killing at least two members of Limey and stealing several trucks to continue their path up into the contested South Sudan. His inexplicable survival has allegedly led to the Nuerland government contacting him, offering him disputed territory with Sudan in exchange for his military assistance against the ragged beast of the Upper Nile. If he makes it none will be able to deny his absurd survival ability.
  229.
  230. To the West with the lines between the Heavenly Kingdom and Zaire stabilized, the forces of Preacher Afonso and the Ghost of Christ once against struck south against the retreating Republicans, and it is with immense shock to the world that one of the most Westernized cities of Africa, Brazzaville, has fallen. While Chacha's clique supported by Kang mercenaries and local Partisans put up a good fight and held their lines as they were forced down the river, the Christian push enjoyed catastrophic success, with the month ending almost all of Chacha's former territory has been lost, however all is not well as Afonso and Ghost find themselves increasingly at odds over the 'Barbaric' practices of Ghost's legion and the 'near idolatry' of Afonso's followers. Increasingly drawn across lines at home back in the thirty years war, as Ghost and Afonso prepare for a concord it is unclear if they will be able come to a resolution over the future of the Kongo.
  231.
  232. Meanwhile, the Gabonese state continues to suffer as the core army is left battered and broken by the advance of 'President-General' Ndungidi's army pushing up the coast towards the lands formerly belonging to the Equatorial Guinea. Absorbed by Gabon after the tacit agreement between Gabon and the Empire over a redrawing of the borders back in 1997, the revitalized efforts of the People's Peace and Freedom Army have revitalized independence sentiments. Perhaps more pressing, External Sky has announced a full alliance with Ndungidi as 'fellow soldiers for soldiers.' Complicating the already convoluted situation in the collapsing state. The pressing republican presence, failure to retake the East Border, Ndungidi's advance and the Mercenary incursion all but collapse the Government's control outside of Libreville where barely 500 soldiers remain loyal to the Dictator. With Republicans all around and the PPFA about to roll into the city, it seems this stage of Gabon's history is about to end.
  233.
  234. In the North, despite their attempts to hold ground Beethoven PMC continues to lose ground against both the Republican under Shani Mbanefo and External Sky as they are increasingly forced to rely upon their routes into Biafra and Nigeria, with Morale plummeting as the civilian population begins to now actively commit against the primarily Russian/German mercenary forces. The Incognito Captain Maestro finds himself wedged between a rock and a hard place with the collapse of Gabon and a much more motivated enemy, and should the PPFA reach the Equatorial they would no doubt assist Huge Leader. Forced to rely almost completely on their contract funding strait from Geneva, it is unclear what the PMC will do now. Especially now that the US government finds itself divided on the War and their own position. They may even be forced to join a side simply to survive.
  235.
  236. The four sided struggle for Kanem, Bornu, & Nord provinces continued into May when the shocking clandestine operations were carried out by PRC agents in the CAE. Initially against General Ivan 'the Bear' Mendevitch over fears the new Russian Government would have a man on the inside, three men attempted to kill him on the 2nd. Despite costing him an arm, Ivan managed to kill two of his attackers while capturing the third, who it was discovered had served Shaka Mangue. Mangue himself did not have the opportunity to hear about this as the initial failure prompted PRC agents on the 3rd, allegedly under direct orders from Vice-President Xi Jinping, attempted to seize control of Mangue's clique, shooting Mangue in the head and prompting a day-long siege as Mangue's loyalists converged on the PRC agents. Mangue himself survived shooting, though he remained comatose until the 26th. Paralyzing his clique, sowing distrust among the communist coalition and all but dividing the Sino-Soviet allegiances of the communists. It is unclear if Mangue will be able to mend the rift, even now as a political uproar breaks out in China as calls come for the resignation of the President and Vice-President come from across the entire party.
  237.
  238. The Ghazi already surrounded on all sides continue their struggle, despite the desperation of their position Sidr refuses to abandon Jama'at and Strikes north against this perceived weakest enemy in the Benevolent Movement of the Bright Red Cross and Monsieur Febou, as Mary aims to re-secure her northern position. This Four sided front is ultimately too much for the already scattered mobile forces of the Northern Republicans who suffer an almost catastrophic collapse as Febou moves to secure his position. Despite this, Febou remains determined as he strategically withdraws, allowing the Muslims, Communists, and Despots their own opportunity to weaken themselves.
  239.
  240. This may be a prudent decision, as the entrenched communists and western Muslims slow the approach of the White Panther, while Sidr evades the advance of the Western Warlock who now finds himself threatened by Russian tanks. Regent Ziguele remains undaunted as he eyes his other borders, in the long run he may be forced to withdraw if the US supports the Republicans with tactical strikes from Gabon. For now however, artillery continues to make the north Shudder, as the desperate battle lines of the remaining three contenders refuse to give.
  241.
  242. That is all for today on the war in Africa, more as the situation develops.

  252. MONTH FIVE
  253. June, 2012
  254.
  255. Fury and uproar across the world! Central Africa's conflict becomes the world's nightmare!
  256.
  257. Political strife continues across the world as the already precarious Republican presidency in the US finds itself chewing its own tail over involvement! President and Secretary Hu Jintao is locked in a stalemate with his own Vice President over Xi's clandestine operations in Africa! Medvedev flees Russia for London as his chosen political successor and failed candidate vanishes, while President Zyuganov seizes control of the country! All the while the war rages on.
  258.
  259. The squabble for the Crown Prince province ended not with a bang but with a whimper as the Usurper armies all but destroyed each other at a confrontation at Vokouma on the 9th, with King Bamu and Emperor Kilhusi pouring in more and more men, until the 17th when the string of encirclements collapsed into an absolute anarchy. By the 21st the town was leveled, and Bamu began to withdraw now with a force of barely 300 men. While Kilhusi could call himself the victor he himself was left with only 100 men more than Bamu and with ruined territory that none remained in, and in a desperate bid to maintain his few remaining military vehicles he himself withdrew to the South East. No one won, but Bamu and Kilhusi remain as bandit kings in the interior that the coalition governments have yet to assert themselves over.
  260.
  261. Meanwhile, the Embattled communist front splits as Shaka Mangue reemerged on the 5th, now short an ear with a gruesome scar for his trouble, Mangue formally sent his apologies to General Ivan and demanded all present Socialist allies in the country repudiate the 'serpent that is the leadership in the People's Republic of China.' Minister Zanzibar whose forces are almost one quarter Chinese sent no immediate response back, while Xang allegedly killed Mangue's envoy.
  262.
  263. With the divide between the CCP-Backed and Bolshevik Romantics clear, Ethiopia has declared its support for Zanzibar while popular crowdfunding stands to support Ivan's war effort. While no fighting has occurred just yet, a line has been drawn in the sands of Soudan. In the East, the CCP-Aligned forces continue to slowly push into Abyssinian territory, but remain unable to make great advances as IED's and local resistance force the most tentative of paces, allowing the King of Kings to attempt for Addis Abba with is Somali allies in the odd coalition between the Coptics and Sunnis. Despite the Ethiopian governments strong words, the southeast of the country continues to fall to the Sunni militias of the SLA, and the conscripts holding out the defence of the border were blitzed and ambushed. Now the entirety of Jienkaland is under this self-proclaimed monarch's control, as he detentes with Mustafa to drive into Ethiopia proper, while the Somali warlord maintains his vision of a Central African Caliphate. While Copts in Gambella celebrated the return of the 'house of Solomon,' back in the West the Ghazi prepare to strike.
  264.
  265. Amidst the chaos of the West, Oom Robberts was sighted once again near communist controlled territory, with current events very much favouring him. Despite this, if he wants to make it to Nuerland he will need to break through the now increasingly fortified communist positions, either through Mangue's territory, or the lands of Zanzibar and Xang. Despite this, Oom and his Trekkers are in high spirits and are more than willing to die in the attempt as they prepare for the breakthrough.
  266.
  267. President Smith's Rhodesia came under a final assault this month, beginning on the 5th, the Southern Coalition members stepped North for a full assault against the Smith's state. With Randys Fire-Teams cutting off their withdraws, and the southern assault from Confederate and Zaire troops sweeping north, his position proved to be untenable.
  268.
  269. But his most fatal mistake would be relying on the Limey Lads who, on the 15th abandoned Smith whose demoralized forces disintegrate at the village of Mai. Smith had been forced increasingly to rely on the London based PMC, but when it came time to retreat, he found only Randy's Russians to his north, while the Lads would only appear two days later looting another village far into disputed territory. What remained of Smith's presidency was destroyed, with a third of his forces dead, a third MIA, and the remaining third captured. Including Smith himself. Comrade Vincent appeared on the 27th to the press, informing the world Smith and his remaining followers would be extradited to Belgium, as a show of good faith. General Randy and Machete Kem could not be reached for comment. With the fall of Smith, much of his former territory has been seized by Islamist forwards, though none can currently contest the Southern Front's position. Despite this, there are allegations that Randy will not remain in the state he and his men worked so hard to build...
  270.
  271. The Oyo conference that began on the 1st of June came to a successful conclusion on the 5th between the eccentric 'Ghost of Christ' and Preacher Nzinga Afonso Ngoy. Ngoy and Ghost's forces had long been antagonistic and divided, but despite that it would seem both will put aside their difference and agree to a ratified alliance against the Central African governments to try and bring about Kongolese independence. Formally united under the 'Christian State of the Congo' look to the Communists in the East and the Republicans in the West. Their objectives have become apparent as they once more struck south, to conclusively win their independence from the Godless men all around them. While Ngoy has clearly made attempts to restrain Ghost, photos of crucified soldiers still slip out to stun foreign media.
  272.
  273. Despite an initially strong offensive, the arrival of Kang himself has slowed their progress considerably, with much dismay from the Legionaries for the Western Artist. Despite Kang giving interviews to western journalists he seems unphased or unaware he is in an active battlefield. The Legionaries have also continued to press into Gabonese territory, inflicting significant morale damage to Kameke's forces with their gleeful cruelty.
  274.
  275. Despite this, several small skirmishes on the prior quiet border with the Zaire government may signal a new threat for their Christian nationalists, with Afonso's control of Kinshasa and Brazzeville's worker's of much dismay to the industrialist. More pressingly, the northern advance of Heavenly Kingdom soldiers has reached the border of 'Randesia', where Ngoy's men seem to have even greater dismay for the old Mercenaries in control of the area.
  276.
  277. Olery Jean-Paul's government fell with Libreville on the 3rd, when soldiers of the PPFA smashed into the streets just before midnight, with the self-proclaimed president fleeing the country by boat a little before dawn of the 4rth. Remaining soldiers either went MIA, joined the PPFA or fled into Republican controlled lands in the hopes the coalition would restore an independent and democratic Gabon, Despite this the People's Peace and Freedom Army carried on through into the lands controlled by Shani's Republicans and continued fighting. Despite their prior successes, the Republicans were much more motivated to fight and slowed the PPFA. But they were unable to inflict any serious lasting casualties as they continued their press north to reach the former Spanish colonial territory, and received significant support from External Sky. Huge Leader, Shani Mbanefo, General Kameke and the now reviled Beethoven struggled for the North as the whole remaining area of Gabon fell under control of the Republican coalition.
  278.
  279. Beethoven's situation in particular became warped as their funding was cut and their accounts frozen for their failure to deal with External Sky, forcing them to try and align themselves with the local leaders. However Ziguele responded by breaking a bottle on his radio, Shani informed the PMC they were unlawful squatters, and even the alleged backers of the Ghazi in Dubai rebuked their offers. Left in isolation with Ziguele pressing from the North, Beethoven began shelling North to try and establish a bridgehead in the former Republic of Biafra, with mercenaries photgraphed over the border on the 28th.
  280.
  281. Despite their harsh words for Captain Maestro, there are allegations that the Republicans may be willing to cut a deal with the 'Soldiers Beyond Borders' if they are going to be able to turn their attention fully to Maestro, the Imperial government and the Congolese Christians. Unless the US puts their foot down and provides support from Libreville as promised, they may be willing to make the unthinkable option.
  282.
  283. The Battle for the north continues to spiral out of control with Sidr's brazen crossing of Lake T'chad into Nigeria. Now well and truly cut off and Jama'at being pressed, Sidr pressed through the disputed territory between Febou and Mary in a bid to get to the docks of the lake, and after jacking two ferries he and his men managed to cross the lake under the cover of night. Unlike the Commonwealth to the south, Nigeria has been long struggled with the Islamic north where Sidr was greeted as a hero, and though most of his force is still in transit he was more than able to send forwards to assist Jama'at against the Pressing White Panther mercenaries and the Imperial loyalists. Sidr's breakthrough was only the start of the end for the Northern Republicans, as their grand assault began in full on the 20th.
  284.
  285. Struck from three sides, the Communist Advance was able to support itself while Febous lighter forces could not withstand the heavy Russian equipment. Despite this, Monsieur Febou did not abandon his position at Port Al Gore, where Ivan battered the city for three days while Febou shipped his forces covertly over the lake to Niger, where they would begin the long voyage to Republican ports. On the 28th, the headquarters of the Benevolent Movement of the Bright Red Cross were struck by a lucky shell, and the next day it was confirmed Febou had perished in the blast. Despite his checkered reputation, he was widely mourned, and the Communists have allowed his remains to be transported back to his home town for burial, as their concerns lie with the south.
  286.
  287. The Advance of Mahamet's Loyalists into the Ghazi stronghold was slowed and suddenly reversed by the arrival of Bushqani's forward guard, with the former Imperial support being diverted to deal with approaching Communist threat all across the Northern border and the sally sent to deal with the Beethoven group. None expected Jama'at renewed fervour, however a string of victories has sent the White Panther back several steps in their prior uphill campaign to the Commonwealth / Nigerian borders. The southern advance went much better thanks to the evident panic in the Maestro's ranks, with Ziguele announcing his support for the Empire 'old friends' going back to when their neighbours were simply the Republic of Biafra.
  288.
  289. In the North however the Communist forces and the Imperials are at a cross road as Artillery strikes and the rapid motions of technicals form a true front. While the resurgence of the Ghazi in the West pausing both, the modern Whites and Reds are both looking for their moment to strike, but it seems it is not coming this month. Time will tell if this was a fatal error on the part of the Loyalists with the Red Tide soldiers now rushing south to take the fight directly to the Imperialists and the Fundamentalists. The now quiet centre of the country must also be considered, as all factions face an uneasy nomads land that is unlikely to last into July. Will this be the break Mustafa has been looking for? Will the Republicans make their move to flank the Christians? Can Ziguele reassert his control over the interior? Can the Usurpers regroup? How long will it be before the Communists commit to their divide? How will Biafra and Nigeria respond to the violations of their sovereignty?

  333. MONTH SIX
  334. July, 2012
  335.
  336. A civil conflict transforms into a continental struggle! War in Nigeria breaks out, as the Wouri Commonwealth declares support for the Imperial government!
  337.
  338. Last month, the infamous Ghazi Sidr Bushqani made the most brazen advance over Lake T'chad to evade the advancing Bolshevik forces, as they secured the entire north of the CAE. A move that stunned the western world seeing Nigeria as a modern nation that should have been capable of dealing with this breach of national sovereignty. But to those paying attention or familiar with the past forty years of Nigerian history, the move only confirmed the chronic weakness of the Nigerian state in dealing with the increasingly dissatisfied Muslim north. In the tense weeks that Bushqani travelled through the country on covert terms, he all but undermined the remaining legitimacy of the standing PDP under president Namadi Sambo, who was essentially faced with an unwinnable situation. He could allow Sidr to escape back into Islamist territory, emboldening the remaining corporate and Ghazi elements in his own country against his toothless government. Or he could make the attempt to bring Bushqani to justice and recoup some of the government's authority gambling he would succeed.
  339.
  340. On the 2nd of July, Sambo ordered a sizable component of the Army down to Adamawa to capture Bushqani and his escorting forces, and despite specific orders that only Christians participate in this operation, those orders went ignored as Northern forces took control of the operation. Several small skirmishes occurred on the 3rd and 4th, but by the 5th it was clear Bushqani had entered territory controlled by Jama'at. All while catastrophic flooding shook several regions in the south of the country.
  341.
  342. Sadly, this was only the start of Nigeria's most disastrous month, with following Sambo's order, mass defections had begun in the Northern army bases. By the time Bushqani escaped, these defections spread across the nation with even members of the police abandoning their posts, all while violent & defeatist rhetoric swept across all sectors of society. This would come to a head on the 7th, when Mufti Mbiki in Sokoto would issue a Fatwa against the Nigerian government and call for the formal restoration of the Sokoto caliphate in the north as a sovereign power. The Fatwa evaporated remaining Nigerian authority in Hausa lands, and prompted the Army to depose President Sambo on the 8th. While the army council had thought they would be welcomed, this would only prompt anarchy, even in military ranks as the air-force (locked out by the army council) went on to bomb the capital on the 10th, to the shock and horror of the world.
  343.
  344. The surviving members of the army council would be gunned down on the 12th in New Karu, by forces loyal to a man who identified himself as Mister 'Afolayan' who proclaimed himself president. From the moment he emerged allegations swirled he was a US puppet, especially as this prior unknown individual had the support of the notorious PMC Blackwater behind him. These allegations only grew as former US special forces operative 'Black Wolf' and her notorious Armaroq PMC were spotted in the West, with the known war criminal 'Black Sparrow' flying Afolayan's colours in the south. Despite the immense amount of support Mr Afolayan was able to buy, his presence galvanized the country against him, with the 'Alliance to Restore the Republic' or ARR forming on the 16th.
  345.
  346. Government loyalists rallied under two very bizarre figures in Lagos for the ARR, one of whom was already known to the world for his adventurism in Namibia, while the other became prominent only after the war in the CAE began. Hitler Washington N'gubu was already renowned for his influence in the Namibian military having prior held the rank of general back home. When the CAE civil war began, Hitler requested Namibia provide military support to Ziguele's government, but was ultimately ignored. He received another opportunity to act when the Bushqani crossed the border, and promptly ventured north with a sizable amount of Namibian military personnel to rally the legitimate forces under his own banner, and found several unlikely allies. In lagos first, he met Damane Ziguele, brother of the current CAE imperial regent who had been enjoying a pub crawl across the entire Gold Coast when the trouble began back home. Despite being considered a layabout, with Hitler's beside him Ziguele was a primary founder of the ARR and is reportedly eager to live up to the 'new family standard.'
  347.
  348. With the formation of the ARR in Lagos came two more allies in Abuja and Kano that ground Afolayan's would-be government to a halt. In the capital of Abuja the Polish PMC 'Berek's Brigade' declared their intention to restore the Republic, as they had been signed on to train the legitimate government's army and under Captain Adam Jezioranski, Afolayan was stopped dead by Polish commandos and their T-72s. In the north the ARR was joined by 'Uncle Leto's Repair Company.' 'Uncle Leto' was a Liberian citizen and had served in the Resistance army against Samuel Doe, eventually rising to prominence as the owner of a pan-Gold Coast repair company. Stranger, he was technically a warlord who maintained several militia detachments for 'business security' across six different countries.
  349.
  350. Leto joined on with the ARR and concentrated his 'guards' in Kano, preparing to link up with his Slavic ally in the south.
  351.
  352. This situation was further complicated by what some have called a 'modern invasion of Sea Peoples' as several distinct forces arrived on the shores of Nigeria, perhaps having prior intended to invade the Empire's lucrative commercial zones but settled for the tragic weakness in Nigeria over the seasoned CAE actors. A figure known only as the 'Ocean Demon' (believed to be the Argentinian Juan Ruaz) arrived on the 18th, seizing two military bases and capturing an obscene amount of military equipment, while he inflicted immense havoc on the south, at least until until the arrival of English neo-colonist Nigel 'Nigerlind' and his 'Dominion Volunteers.' While the Demon has no allies, it would appear Nigerlind has friends in London, with the infamous Dark Sun PMC under the equally infamous Hyde R.A. Scorpio declaring their support for a new West African Dominion.
  353.
  354. Sadly, the situation was nowhere near to stabilized, as by the 20th even more parties emerged to destroy Nigeria's stability, much to the dismay of the exiled president as he landed in Miama on the same day. With Bolshevist romanticism at a new high, in the North of the country yet another 'volunteer expeditionary army' arrived over the border from Niger to 'liberate the Nigerian worker.' On the 21st members of the "13th Waffen Mountain Division, SS Handschar" (or 1st Croatian) under an enigmatic figure called the 'Furhur' followed to the West, to support the Sokoto Caliphate and strike out against the communist threat. While many consider it unlikely the Handschar are the true successors to the Bosniak SS, they are a small robust military force believed to have ties to the Taliban and Chechens.
  355.
  356. Three more upstarts would pop up in the south over the following week, the self-proclaimed 'President-King Akanni' on the last uncontrolled segment of coast decrying the weak government and foreign invaders as he appealed to the Yoruba and Edo population. Prior a known threat to the Nigerian government, his spiritual presence and sudden emergence puts the south into a total state of Anarchy. He would be joined by another 'President' the next day to the north in a Christian Nationalist identified as Obi Oji, whose anti-Islamist rhetoric would only be matched by his ties to the Chinese Government. Further inland, the enigmatic figure called Arebati (Believed to be an Italian renegade) would emerge calling to the Tiv minority and calling for the mass expulsion of 'Whites and Sub-Saharans' from Nigeria. Last, and strangest of all would be the arrival of the "Ancapistani" legion in the north-east, on one of the last air flights into the country before the No-fly zone over the CAE was extended to its two western neighbours. Under the semi-notorious Bitcoin-Enthusiast and Libertarian Terry A. Davidson, a sizable portion of the T'chad coast was seized by Davidson whose mission was stated to be 'destroying the Nigerian government and capturing CIA actors in the new Free-zone.'
  357.
  358. While the lines of battle were being drawn in Nigeria, the neighbour conflict continued to rage with no end in sight. Though the alliances would become stranger as the United Nations held several emergency sessions over how to handle the conflict.
  359.
  360. In the West, the prior abrupt entry by Beethoven group into Wouri territory came to an end on the 3rd, with the conflicts between External Sky and the Republicans also seemingly vanishing as German-Russian forces withdrew. By the 5th it became apparent that a 'soft' coup had occurred, with the exhausted Captain Maestro announcing his PMC's defection to External Sky and the Soldiers Beyond Borders.
  361.
  362. While shocking to the world it would seem the lack of progress and the betrayal of their former backers drove Beethoven directly into Huge Leader's hands. This defection galvanized existing channels between the Republicans, External Sky, and the Imperial Government, especially when word came down the pipeline on the 7th that the Christian State of Congo would enter into negotiations with the Republican government in order to achieve their independence. On the 9th a formal agreement was drawn up between the Republicans, the Congolese, and External Sky, much to the dismay of the US government. While this alliance would be repudiated by the Imperial loyalists, Ziguele would also find himself with new allies as the semi-defunct Limey Lads were forced to sign on with the Loyalists in hopes of one day escaping the interior alive.
  363.
  364. On the 11th, the Republicans implemented their 'temporary autonomous agreements' act which allowed for nominal independence in Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, and the Congo State, which the constituents have agreed to return to, although there have been immense complaints about the underhanded deal, it put the Republican Coalition into a position where they could begin a genuine campaign against the Imperial Loyalists. However the US government has all but cut their former support, with the former deal for air support hanging in limbo as negotiations over the status of External Sky continue. It is also unlikely the 'Christian Congo' will last with the immense disdain for the Christian radicals among the Republicans, but only time will tell when that agreement will break down.
  365.
  366. The Western Ghazi would make several attempts against the pressing White Panther PMC and Louve's forces, but would be unable to secure a decisive battle against either. Despite this morale holds in all three camps as the larger conflict between the greater blocs continued throughout the month, with Russian tanks reaching the fringes of Islamic territory and LLPMC fighters arriving to assist the White Panther.
  367.
  368. The General Communist offensive came down hard as the three 'Revolutionary Heads' of Mary Tas, General Ivan, and the 'punished' Shaka Mangue held effective control over the north, and could subdivide the forces of the Tide to assist their push with the supplementary tanks and Russian veterans making effective headway against the Loyalists, coming to a head at the battle of the Bear's hill where the Western Warlock attempted to split the armoured offensive. Beginning on the 21st and ending on the 26th when Louve attempted to route Wizard and Loyalist forces, the Regent's men suffered a devastating collapse with almost half of the Wizards PMC being lost or captured along with their ground vehicles. Leaving Warlock with 40 men and his air Quarters. Similar shelling occurred in the East, though Xang would begin a careful withdraw attempting to slow their advance while trying to drive focus on the Ethiopian and interior fronts.
  369.
  370. Unfortunately the Afro-Communists would suffer a rough month as they found themselves suffering repeated set-backs with Xang and Zanzibar's joint forces unable to make their victories count for much and still have yet to follow through to Jienkaland, all while the lacklustre advance of Abyssinian forces made significant headway against the utterly demoralized communists who despite making some headway against the SLA have continued to endure mass defections and desertions over the entirety of July.
  371.
  372. Meanwhile the interior communists found themselves pressed by Mustafa's forces in the south, with Ghazi lightening raids inflicted not insignificant damage and supply loss to Zanzibar's southern front. To say nothing of Bamu's influence.
  373.
  374. While the interior Usurpers were thought all but defeated and Emperor Kilhusi was almost obliterated by advancing loyalists on the 16th (with some estimating he has barely fifty men left) Bamu recovered his position ground and made several brazen strikes out at advancing reds from both camps and the loyalists. While he is treading water, the morale boost was massive to his forces, which may have doubled in size from recruitment. Though he is still at a fraction of his strength, he is no longer hanging on the brink. It will take a motivated effort to stamp him out now.
  375.
  376. For the "united front" of the Republicans, they suffered repeated setbacks and insubstantial victories after their formal agreements were put into place, with the Imperial loyalists putting up an excellent fight against the 'Jacobin' menace as the forces of the coalition, led by General Kameke lost many men but suffered more in morale terms, with Kameke himself not helping as he desperately attempted to negotiate US support back and to get the 'upstart mercenaries' to abandon their arrogant notions of 'sovereignty.' The Northern front under Mbanefo and Nzeogwu made some headway against commonwealth forces, although this was a hard fight against the highly motivated army of the Commonwealth, with the additional support from Beethoven being more aimed at enriching the disheartened mercenaries. The Christians also made minimal gains while suffering significant damage to their spirits as Loyalist elements began crucifying captured Congolese men.
  377.
  378. The ultimate blow came on the 27th when the People' Republic of Zaire began to press against the Congolese, whose desperate attempts at defence led to many being slaughtered by the advancing coalition of the three nations. Rhodesian Fire-Teams in particular put their advance nearing to the 'promised lands' of the provisional state, and it would seem Vincent aims to liberate Brazzaville and Kinshasa at the minimum, if not to collapse the theocratic despots.
  379.
  380. Lastly, it would seem the Boer Warlord Oom Robberts has met his end when he attempted to 'thread the needle' between the Afro-Communists and Mangue's territory, as he had the tragic misfortune of running right into one of Xang's forces. Oom did not go out quietly however, leading his men into a desperate charge into the camp, causing significant casualties until Mangue's forces seized on the situation to shell the chaotic position. Oom was killed in an artillery strike and most of the camp was scattered. Of the surviving followers from that arrived on the coast, only seven survived to reached Nuerland on the 30th where they were granted citizenship in exchange for their military service. Including a one mister Piet Hubert who joined Oom midway through his trek and intends to publish a book about the 'last voyage of the Boers.'
  381.
  382. In the UN, the geo-political circus came to a head with the world powers finally moving to act on the crisis in the CAE, now dubbed the 'Great War of Africa.' The vested interests of many nations exploiting the conflict and the debacles in the PRC and the US have slowed the process significantly. Other member states like Ukraine and Indonesia are believed to have commercial interests that have them purposefully sabotaging resolutions, to the point now only the most minimal response has been agreed upon.
  383.
  384. In this the Republic of Brazil, Argentina, and France have been the odd ones out in attempting to bring the situation under control, though the process remains slow. While no consensus has been reached on the legitimacy of any attempted government, motions to legitimize breakaways have come forward. While the US halted motions to legitimize the 'soldier states' and China blocked off the Ethiopian pretender, the People's Republic of Zaire stands to be recognized in August, with the Confederacy of L'Ituria and Randesia like to follow as Comrade Vincent continues to advocate for his allies.
  385.
  386. The war continues on as the rest of Africa, and the world at large, watch in with a combination of horror and perverse curiosity.

  395. MONTH SEVEN
  396. > August, 2012
  397.
  398. > Taiwanese boots in Libreville! Chechens trucking into Sudan! More join the fight as the Great African War continues!
  399.
  400. > The international community continues to puzzle its way through the African Crisis with the 'People's Republic of Zaire' now formally independent for the first time in decades. Despite this victory, his war is far from over as he fully intends to draw forward his 'brother nations' that are a much larger sell than Zaire was, with Belgium protesting the 'backwards' state of the Confederacy alleging it unrecognizable as a sovereign power, and several of the Conservative Anglosphere nations have resisted the 'Čornaja Ruś' on grounds the denizens are Russian and South African criminals, not prospective citizens. Vincent continues to champion the cause of the Southern brothers, even as he begins diplomatic talks with the other Zaire breakaway states in hopes of reforming the great Central African State.
  401.
  402. > Other prospective states had their hopes dashed in equal form, with China again quashing Abyssinian hopes of recognition. The Congolese continue to go unrecognized after a disastrous vote that saw them receive support from only the Guatemala, El Salvador, the ROC, the Philippines, and Albania. Meanwhile the US and her allies have continued to deadlock recognition of the Equatorial Guinea and External Sky, with one diplomat going as far as to liken an independent External Sky as just the same as an Independent camp of Auschwitz. Despite this the Russian Republic has thrown in support for the fledgling stratocracies. No formal resolutions have been decided on Nigeria either, causing international outcry with the images that have slowly come in revealing the disturbing horror that has swamped the coasts and interior of Nigeria.
  403.
  404. > International volunteers continue to pour in from all across the world to both conflicts. Most prominent has been the arrival of Republic of China forces supplementing the Republican coalition, joined by many from Liberia, France, Italy, Namibia, Kenya, and the United States. With the Commonwealth's intercession, Anti-communists and Monarchists from all over the world pour in to try and bolster the Imperial government. A large stream of reinforcements from the former soviet bloq continues to trickle down through the Libyan states to join the Bolshevik front. The CCP has repeatedly broken the air restrictions shipping men and equipment to try and bolster the ailing Afro-Communists, while Islamic fighters from across the world venture over the borders to try and support the Faithful in Central Africa.
  405.
  406. > In the Northeast of Nigeria the first true battle occurred between the Handschar and the Nigerian Flood, with the Elite Mujihadeen attempting to infiltrate the Neo-Soviet positions. After a successful ambush however, the Handschar of Furhur were overwhelmed by communist tanks with the Muslim SS force losing almost a quarter of their strength as they were forced to withdraw. While the autonomous nature of the Flood was brought into question back in June, it would seem they've proven themselves. Conversely Davidson's Ancap army suffered a serious blow after word reached them that the Handschar were on the retreat. Davidson sought to strike through Muslim lines, hoping to catch the 'Leftist' forces off-guard, however his attack on the Handschar position was disastrous, with his entire forward party being either killed or captured and beheaded. Given the choice between Soviet treads and the treacherous Liberals, the Handschar struck west and overran several of Davidson's positions. While Davidson withdrew south, the North was rapidly filled out, as the Sokoto forces advanced and BLACK SUN prepared to make a defence against the Muslim approach.
  407.
  408. > The Battle over the capital began with Afolayan attempting to buy out the Polish Mercenaries holding most of mainstay Abuja, with Afolayan consolidating himeself a little to the East in New Kano. The would-be president recieved the following reply on the 3rd.
  409.
  410. > "Afolayan, son of the cursed Sultan of Nigeria, companion of Satania the hellish abysmal Sultan of America, Yoruba pedestal, cook of the Hausa, armourer of Mercenaries, wheelwright of Engaland, winegrower of greater and lesser Chad, you Lagosi pig farmer, you Makurdi armchair, Glowie dog, accursed viper living in the world, thief of New Kano and all the world, subject of the spider and the scarecrow, bogeyman of the whole world, Turkish district Yankee, he who is equal to the body, slanderer of Satan, whole host of hell, cursed messenger of the Devil, enemy of the crucified God and persecutor of his servants, hope and comforter of the Yankees, and their downfall and sorrow. We will not yield to you and we will fight you."
  411.
  412. > The would-be president ordered the attack, with his commandos and Americans attempting to breach the capital. While his special forces were adept and able to knock out many Polish tanks, they simply did not have the heavy firepower to contest the Brigade's hold on the city. By the 9th Afolayan began to level entire buildings in hopes of waylaying the Polish, but it was all for nothing when the Advancement forces of Uncle Leto arrived. Leto's many bodies, air quarter and his support shifted the tide of the battle, forcing Afolayan to begin withdrawing to New Kano as he desperately awaited his own reinforcements. Sadly it would seem that Black Wolf was taking her sweet time picking engagements that she could win with the Italian Butcher in the south and the Ancaps scattered to the North.
  413.
  414. > Meanwhile, the south was a battlefield some have compared to the Korean war in the sheer amount of slaughter and the military equipment present. Unlike the Norther where the contenders could chose their battles, the South was a five-sided battle with the contenders bombarding each other even before August arrived, and with the changing of the month it moves into full fledged war. Initially the superior equipment of Blackwater and Sparrow put them into an advantageous position, however it quickly became apparent that neither the mercenaries nor the pirates had little desire to advance, culminating at a disastrous battle of Agge, where almost thirty of Sparrows artillery pieces were captured by Nigel's forces, however the pirates managed to sneak back in to sabotage the ammunition. Nigel suffered horrific casualties from Afolayan's subordinates and the Demon's men, and though Neo-Dominion forces inflicted heavier casualties back, it is estimated almost 800 of his forces have deserted him. Just to the West, the Ocean demon's positions were compromised, and though he temporarily gained control of the coast for the middle of the month, a concerted effort from other parties has left his navy in ruins. At the north the Oji attempted to make advances on the south as much to secure his position, but Oji made solid progress against Blackwater who were put at odds dealing with the 'native menace.'
  415.
  416. > With tens of thousands dead, many coastal cities left burning, and hundreds of thousands escaping to the other Nations of the Golden Coast, it is almost absurd that the fighting stands to continue. Geopolitical experts have counted out the Neo-Colonialists under Mister Nigerland whose current control is at best tenuous, though the same might be said about the Ocean Demon whose forces will only last as long as there are supplies to seize and loot to be gained.
  417.
  418. > By compare, Akanni the ARR and even Afolayan's men have high spirits, although for the latter it is unclear how much Sparrow's pirates and Blackwater believe in their President.
  419.
  420. > Back in the Central African Empire, the Southern United Front holds, if only because (for the time being) no party has the men or motivation to break the agreement, with the 'surrounded' Loyalists putting up one hell of an fight. Regent Mahamat Ziguele reconfigured his position to better coordinate with the Wouri, and strategically shifted his PMC allies to deal with the Republicans, while putting his infantry and available trucks to slow down the forces of the Bolsheviks. This has slowed Ivan significantly, as his shortened front wanted another smashing battle like he'd had against Western Warlock. Ivan himself seems unwilling to lose tanks to attrition, and is maintaining his component of the Red Tide, the other forces of which have been sent to the other two heads of the Triumvirate.
  421.
  422. > In the West the intermittent skirmishes with Bamu's irregulars who sought to weave a harassment campaign succeeded in allowing Bamu to hold his Stronghold, and Zanzibar attempted to use his early position to push back the treacherous forces of Punished Shaka. They might have succeeded had the Russian tanks not arrived en-mass to coordinate with their allies. While the fringe province terrain was rough and wild, their prior experience across the harsh Nord allowed the Bolsheviks to directly counter Zanzibar's attempts at making ground, with several key positions of the CCP aligned Afro communists that make their future position much less tenable. Morale is high in the Bolshevik camp, as much as in Bamu's troops. However there is a swirling defeatism Zanzibar must contend with as his forces have had very few victories since they arrived in the Empire. To the south Xang led the advance into disorganized territory and continued his clashes with Aidid, though he was unable to secure a front.
  423.
  424. > In addition to his gains against Xang, Mustafa finally brought about the end of the Usurper Kilhusi as he sped further into the interior having seemingly given up on the idolotrous lands of the Southern Front. Kilhusi's men hearing word that the Somali Ghazi were approaching attempted to capture their alleged emperor to hand him over, in exchange for amnesty. Kilhusi had no intentions of being take alive, and when the situation turned violent he apparently detonated an RPG directly at his feet. The story was retold by survivors in both Mustafa's camp and in Randesia, the few survivors either joining Randy or converting to Islam and signing on with the Ghazi. Some may also have ventured north in hopes Bamu may redeem them.
  425.
  426. > In Ethiopia, Moral continues to plummet with some estimating that only a tenth of the over 120.000 strong force remains, even if a large portion of that likely only existed on paper. The light forces of the Somali Liberation front continue to harass the interior forces while the Abyssinian Army continues to battle their way uphill to substantial gains. If things continue at the rate they do, then there is a high probability that the Royalist forces will reach Addis Ababa by October, though foreign analysts have yet to rule out a decisive collapse similar to the Gabonese government earlier in the year.
  427.
  428. > On the other side of the country, the Islamist forces of Jamaat and Sidr of the Central African Caliphate made a brazen strike out North, East and West to buy the entrenched faithful much needed space. The Islamist technicals zoomed over Communist lines initially, and managed to capture several Soviet tanks, and in the West they made decisive gains against Ziguele's ill-prepared border patrols. However in the West the heavy guns quickly ripped apart the technicals and forced the Muslims to retreat back over the border.
  429.
  430. > On the 29th as well Louve launched a counter attack, splitting the Northern Muslims position as her own detachment of the Tide was used to force distance with Bushqani. Morale is high in both camps with the Islamist Eid al Fitr attaining some interest in the online sphere. While Morale is high, Jamaat will need to press his advantage in the coming weeks, and Sidr cannot afford any more loses if he is to continue as a contributor in this war.
  431.
  432. > For the United Front, a promising advance turned disastrous on the 15th when their advances into the Imperial heartland and the Wouri Commonwealth received the full front of the redirected Wouri Army heavy forces and the concentrated Mercenary forces of the Loyalists. Well aware time was running low, Ziguelle opted to have Captain Claw, Western Warlock, and the Limely lads act in tandem against the numerically few forces Kameke organizing the Republican front and the disorganized Christian forces. This proved to be both extremely effective with the Northern forces being driven out of Ambazonia and into the Northern Commerce zone, while the Congolese suffered an absolutely disastrous situation when Vincent's red army struck West, against supplemented by Rhodesian, Russian, and Foret allies who've pincered the Congolese. Furious emissaries from Preacher Afonso and Ghost were unable to secure extraction from the Republicans, and in Kameke's case even audience. The Mercenary forces of the alliance have been even more illusive, to the point where there are rumours Mbanefo and Nzeogwu suspect treason. Though it is unclear if this is from the mercenaries fighting for them, the mercenaries fighting against them, or perhaps even a disgruntled Kameke.
  433.
  434. > Despite these frustrations, it would seem Kang the conqueror continues to enjoy his vacation and is rumoured to be planning a visit to the Equatorial Guinea to promote yet another of his albums.
  435.
  436. > Will the Republicans be able to retake the initiative? How long can the Loyalists play keep-away? Will the Bolsheviks be able to maintain their momentum? How long before the United States intervenes?
  437.
  438. > All this and more coming up with our resident expert on Warlords, a former citizen of the CAE and publisher of the book 'My time in Uganda', Joseph Kony. Stay tuned!

  458. MONTH NINE
  459. October, 2012
  460.
  461. The Heir-Apparent of the Central African Empire calls for unity! Chants of 'Death To America' ring out over Bangui! More on the Great African War!
  462.
  463. Long quiet on the conflict in his homeland, Jean-Bedel Bokassa second to the name in the Royal house has joined the tidal wave of disdain and dismay for the Sudden arrival of US forces in Africa to support the would be government of President 'Jellyfish' Kameke. Many now suspect the deal between the US and the general pertained to former US agent and self-proclaimed dictator of 'External Sky'; 'Huge Leader' and the seemingly desperate need for the States to capture him. For unknown reasons. Though immense speculation continues even now on possible Kompromat the former soldier has on America. Some even speculate that Huge Leader may have taken a page out of Gaddafi's playbook and may be seeking a nuclear deterrent, giving credence to the sudden pivot of the CCP to assist the US in this situation diplomatically.
  464.
  465. Regardless, Jean-Bedel not only voiced support for a unity government, but went as far as to leave France for Angola. In an interview on the 3rd in Luanda he stated; "I have no great love for my Father's throne or his vanity projects. However I will concede he did much even for those people he integrated into Central Africa by force. I had hoped a referendum would have been possible, but with that out of the way I must advocate for the cooperation of moderate elements in the war against any autocratic regimes. I will only return to Bangui to be crowned if I am invited by the rightful government. And if that is to be, I can only hope that I could encourage further growth and rightful governance after being crowned." Word of this statement and the beginning of US Drone Strikes as far north as Kanem and Darfur forced a sudden drastic shift in the War's landscape.
  466.
  467. Coined by Shani Mbanefo and Chacha Nzeogwu, the 'National Restoration Coalition' was formed between the pressed Republicans and the Imperial Loyalists on the 4th, and though it was only designed to serve the former enemies, Nzeogwu went out of his way to attempt to bring others into the alliance. Despite only sending the letter to Zaire out of Courtesy, President Vincent responded positively and was quick to enter negotiations with the NRC to ratify a new border between Zaire and the CAE that saw Kinshala returned. Ziguele begrudgingly agreed, having little love for the 'backwards' south, though the Kem's repeated rebukes of the Islamic advance did earn his respect. The Soldiers Beyond Border and Huge Leader went directly to Ziguele to bargain a deal, eventually agreeing to the establishment of new state between Gabon and the CAE, along with the independence of Equatorial Guinea under Ndungidi's presidency.
  468.
  469. No messenger was able to reach the would-be state of the Leaders of the Christian Congo who seemed to be hunkering down for a long war against Kameke's government and the Southern Brothers. Likewise though word was sent to Zanzibar from Mbanefo that cooperation against the 'USCA' neither Zanzibar nor Xang, or even the Ethiopian government had any interest in assisting in a conflict to the West. No word was sent to the Islamists, though even if they could have, it was unlikely they would reach the embattled Western Ghazi, while Mustafa cared little for working with Atheists and Idolotrists. But the remaining two invitations found some fertile ground. One in the North, the other to the East. Initially received by Mangue, after a short conference the Bolsheviks agreed to the ceasefire with the Imperial government and sent a dispatch of heavy tanks and motorized infantry to assist the efforts against Kameke, though more likely this agreement was aimed towards finally stomping out the CCP-Aligned enemies and the Western Islamists.
  470.
  471. Last, none expected the 'King of Kings' of Abyssinia to even respond, let alone declare his full support for the NRC. But he did.
  472.
  473. With such a coalition forming against him, Kameke made desperate strikes to try and wipe out the Republicans, using his seemingly blank check to cash in an immense amount of supplies to outfit a conscript army, supplemented by air-strikes. Despite this the absolute complete lack of internal support gimped him with active rioting in Libreville and the SCZ making his control over his own territories tentative. Perhaps equally problematic was the US attache's total disregard for the pushes beyond Huge Leader. But with so many guns, quantity becomes a quality of its own. At least, it would be were it not faced by another similar quantity.
  474.
  475. Kameke's October push was met with a renewed and organized resistance that was able to begin a full counteroffensive as the last week of the month arrived, foreign observers noting that the battle lines shifting fast, but out of season storms made it almost impossible for US Drones to accurately strike their targets. By compare, Remote Control drones utilized by the NRC were able to drop grenades and landmines on top of advancing USCA troops and vehicles to brutal effect. The front lines in the north were bludgeoned back by responding artillery, and infiltration has allegedly forced mass withdrawals of supply to avoid their capture by the Imperial or Republican forces. While the bulk of Kameke's focus was on stamping out the People's Peace and Freedom Army and taking External Sky, he was unable to find purchase in either, thanks to PPFA guerrilla tactics and the arrival of Black Wolf and her Armaroq PMC in External Sky to join the fight. While composed only of the Veterans and those willing to join a would-be nation state, their arrival on the 18th unhinged the former situation, allowing the Republicans and Beethoven group to push south, supported by Bolshevik shelling.
  476.
  477. In the East the already mixed lines of the Kongo area dissolved into a brawl at the river front, with Imperial Mercenaries, Rhodesian Veterans, Russian soldiers, and Zaire Red-Army Rangers fighting shoulder to shoulder against the Ghost's ash-faced Legionnaires and their Heavenly Soldier supports, who were just as quick to gun down NRC soldiers as the attempted advances by USCA and Gabonese soldiers. In the brutal conflict the prior familiarity of the NRC in this region was key beside their air relief, as unprepared USCA could not hope to shell out all their opposition with so many Congolese in open opposition to their presence and key-point strikes by the NRC. However it has still been an utter slog, with the last few days of battle claiming the life of the current front leader of the Christian State. On the 25th, the Gabonese 1rst Jungle squadron executed a raid on the hideout of 'Ghost' and successfully captured the radical holdout. While they had a kill order against Ghost, it would seem the 1rst were interested in repaying the many casualties and indignities they had suffered, and crucified him on the road back to Gabon, alive. Either Kameke allowed this or his order to pull down the Warlord went ignored. On the 27th, Ghost finally perished. But that was not the end, as on the 30th the USCA forces tried to exhume Ghost's remains, only to discover they'd been stolen. It is unclear what is happening in the remaining Congo territories, however some speculate the surviving paraplegic leader of the Congo might flee or surrender to avoid the wholesale destruction of his followers. In any case, the vanishing act of the Albino Warlord's body has temporarily invigorated the remnants of his would-be nation.
  478.
  479. As the struggle of the National Restoration Coalition and the United States of Central Africa raged on, it was not the only major motion in the war as the Western Islamic forces faced down the Soviet Hammer and the Imperial Anvil. The embattled forces of Sidr Bushqani and Jama'at Ahl as-Sunnah dug their heals in and refused to retreat, much to the delight of Louve's wolves who had long sought to be the ones to bring the infamous Chechen fighter low, and rushed to meet their forces at their final holdout in the village of Goeg. Utilizing their remaining vehicles like circled wagons around the village centre, the offer for surrender was met by the reply the Ghazi would die on their feet. To which Mary allegedly replied; "Good." From the 15th to the 19th, Wouri and Soviet soldiers waged an almost continuous gun-battle against the Ghazi, effectively levelling the village and almost half a kilometre of surrounding forests. Despite their best efforts, on by one the Ghazi were either killed or wounded, with those too injured to fight attempting suicide charges on advancing enemies. Jama'at was struck by a sniper shot on the evening of the 18th, and would die minutes later with Bushqani at his side. Sidr swore he would see him again soon. On the morning of the 19th, the guns of the Islamists finally fell silent when ammunition ran dry. Before the Imperial aligned soldiers could respond, Louve ordered her soldiers to draw their machetes and to charge, meeting the Ghazi directly with her forces. Sidr himself joined the melee armed with only an antique Afghani Pulwar, and was killed a little before 1 in the afternoon. With his death, the remaining Ghazi followed, with only 6 being taken alive of the remaining 200 something force that made the defence.
  480.
  481. The situation in the further East was mixed, with the Jade Marxist taking aim at the struggling Afro-Communists. Xang's prior long held operating territory was not prepared for the combined forces of the Punished Shaka, Ivan, and supplementary Red Tide forces to rock over the defensive lines with gleeful abandon. Xang himself had personally been with his forces during their first great push into the Abyssinian territory, finally crossing the border into occupied Jienkaland. Minister Zanzibar also turned his attention north, as the pair attempt to contain the situation, the still pushing forces of the King of Kings take direct aim for the old Capital of Ethiopia, advancing up the roadways. With the unusual line he has walked, the alleged Emperor is wildly popular with Christians, Jews, and Muslims of his homeland and his forces grow at the same rate the Ethiopian army disintegrates. Despite that, the core of the Ethiopian Army scored several key victories against the Somali forces, very nearly crippling the SLA though leadership escaped. Mustafa continues to assist the King of Kings, even as he now struggles against Zanzibar and the Imperials. Despite that, he has much ground he can afford to lose, and a valuable ally in the long run.
  482.
  483. While not involving himself, Bamu continues to operate somewhere in the interior, continuing to recruit young men and women and building up his forces, aware that he'll need them when his time comes to make a move against one of his neighbours. Though who specifically that is remains to be seen.
  484.
  485. Next door to the Empire in Nigeria, the Alliance to Restore the Republic was able to secure a valuable ally in the now renegade BLACK-SUN PMC with the offer of payment and a back to hold enough to throw their lot in with the Populist Republican forces. While contemptuous of the locals, the actual bodies and military hardware provided the ARR with a vital pivot as the Nigerian Civil war progressed into October. Despite this the forces of President Afolayan enjoyed the benefits of several key-point strikes that severely weakened King-President Obi Oji's position, allowing the Manchurian Candidate to link up with his mercenary forces in the south as they tore through the remaining forces of Akanni and the Demon, though to the opposition in the East and West it seemed that the independents were more hell-bent on killing one another, culminating in a final confrontation when Akanni finally caught the beached invader. After a brutal struggle, the Demon was brought to Akanni, barely alive. Akanni quickly rectified that state, and proceeded to flay off the Demon's skin. With the majority of the survivors now in his number, Akanni looks to the East and West as the Nationalist dogs and the criminal swine sharpen their own blades.
  486.
  487. Inland, the current was upturned by a surprise offensive by the Libertarian forces, who seemed hell-bent on making headway against the Arebati in the south, and successfully routed the northern Front of the Sicilian's forces. They even won several skirmishes against the Soviet presence, but this may only be luck, as Davidson's crusade against the CIA and government forces has left him disorganized and paranoid. However for the moment the Ancapistani forces enjoy a needed morale boost. Arebati himself remains illusive, though his forces seem to have taken a defensive stance and moved into the disorganized border region to make a stand against the foreign envoys.
  488.
  489. Bolshevik guns suffered other losses against the Caliphate in Sokoto, with Mufti Mbuki taking great pains in organizing his forces as they attempt to retain the initiative against the ARR, but with the mercenary support they will need either allies or immense divine fortune to force a victory. Some though may be willing to accept a stalemate.
  490.
  491. The UN remains unable to even dispatch peacekeepers to the conflict thanks to the stacked votes and conflict investment, though the ongoing economic crisis has begun to make steps towards some resolutions, with the NRC winning over many more pragmatic members. Despite this no resolution exists on External Sky, Guinea and L'Ituri, while 'Black Russia' or 'Randesia' remains unrecognized. Vincent continues to fight for his allies, though he now extends this to the mercenaries, who he views as key regional partners for the future. November will likely be a hectic month as the US has hinted a 'serious operation' may be undertaken in 'occupied Central Africa.'
  492.
  493. That is all for now. Going forward we'll be continuing our coverage of Hurricane Sandy, and our interviews with political experts on the upcoming US election.
