- Hey, hi, hello! I haven't done a pastebin monday thing in years. I wanted to talk about some of my random thoughts and plans for the near future (mostly for art, but some gaming too) so I'm bringing this back. I kind of miss when everyone used to post pastebin mondays every week. Bring Back Pastebin Mondays!
- To make things easier to read, I'm writing this out FAQ style (even though some aren't frequently asked questions lol):
- Art Stuff
- Q: Why do you talk about art stuff so much now?
- A: After years of telling myself, "It's too late to learn how to draw." and "I don't know if I'll enjoy it that much", I bought a drawing tablet and gave it a shot. The more I sat down learning and drawing, the more invested I got into it. I'm super happy I got into drawing because it's really fun and feels really satisfying being able to create something of my own instead of using someone else's artwork. I generally don't talk about all of my hobbies and interests online that much, but art is something I like to talk about with everyone. Sorry if my tweets about art progress/drawings bother you!
- Q: What's your goal with drawing?
- A: Have fun. My secondary goal is to get good enough at drawing some underappreciated anime/video game characters to inspire other artists to try drawing them too!
- Q: When will you take commissions?
- Short answer: Probably never.
- Long answer: Few people have actually asked me this before. I've thought about it and I always came to the conclusion that I wouldn't even consider doing commissions until I had a couple years of experience and developed my own style. So far I've only been drawing for 3-4 months and I'm constantly trying to learn a billion different things and I don't think I'll really find *my* style for a while. I'm also not even sure if I ever want to take commissions.
- Q: Why don't you want to take commissions?
- A: I pretty much only see myself doing art stuff as a hobby. Basically, I love learning new things about drawing and I love improving; very fun for me. But there's also a lot of stress that accompanies the hobby. I don't need another large layer of stress of satisfying anyone who would commission something from me, especially with how often I randomly get very busy IRL so I wouldn't be able to consistently work on that kind of stuff.
- Q: Will you ever draw emotes?
- A: Maybe, but it's a low priority for me. I'm mostly interested in doing full character drawings like I've been doing so far.
- Q: Will you ever draw stuff for other people?
- A: Yes!! I've asked people in my discord server for random anime characters for me to doodle and those were fun to draw (I tweeted some of them couple months ago). As I get better I'll probably randomly ask people more if there's someone they want to see drawn. Unlikely that I'd commit to a full colored drawing, but if I think they would look good then I'll color them.
- Q: Will you ever draw realistic art styles?
- A: No. I'm only interested in anime styles. I don't want to draw any real people either.
- Speedrunning
- Q: Are you still speedrunning?
- A: Not really. This year I did 2 different speedruns (Minish Cap and Link's Awakening DX) for 1 day each, which has made this year the least active speed year for me since I started in 2013 lol.
- Q: When are you going to speedrun again?
- A: No idea. The desire hasn't been there for a while now and I don't even know if I would come back to an old game or run something new. I imagine I'll probably do a couple speedruns in 2022, but no promises.
- Casual Gaming
- Q: What's your casual gaming look like?
- A: I've only beaten 4 games for the first time this year so far lmfao. I got so uninterested with video games this year. I want to play more stuff, but it's getting hard to balance around IRL and art stuff. Whenever I have free time, 9 times out of 10 I'll choose to work on my art. I'll try to get more casual playthroughs going next year...
- Other
- Not much else to say. IRL has been busy so that's been slowing down all my hobbies, but nothing really to complain about there.
- Thank you if you read/skimmed through this pastebin.
