  1. I'm writing this now from a train station 150km away from home as I fell asleep on the train with barely and sleep and on a phone so bear with me, I'll probably include a lot of typos.
  2. I'll also only incllude the english version as tbf I can't be asked to type out everything again on german, no way :P
  3.
  4. I'll first ralk about how I got therey then about the individual runs and how they went in my opinion, afterwards quickly about a few other things and a tl;dr at the end. The tl;dr will be the last paragraph, skip to that if you don't want to read (I won't blame you, it'll be a long one :)
  5.
  6. Some of you might now I've been to the DoKomi 2019 in Düsseldorf in the Speedrun corner. This was my 2nd Onsite event and the first one I actually to part in as a runner.
  7. Arriving in Düsseldorf and at the DoKomi went flawlessly, I quickly found where I need to go due to the help of Mondstriker. We arrived a bit before the marathon started and had a blast throughout the entire time. I myself had 4 runs to show while having most of the in the nightshift - My nightshift was supposed to begin with Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Any% which ran jnto a multitude of problems.
  8.
  9. First Run: Kingdom Hearts Final Mix HD Beginner Any%
  10. 1st: I managed to lose my game a day before the marathon and had to resort to my japanese copy of the game. Not a big deal but still a bummer as I probably won't find my original copy anymore.
  11. 2nd: short - The Psp is a bitch to capture, especially without CFW (Custom Firmware). We managed to get a good picture after 30 minutes, but the game itself consistent of 95% black as everything was dark as the night. We weren't able to fix the problem, so we quickly made a KH block out of it. I showed a run of KHFM Beginner Any%, which I haven't touched in a hot minute and managed to show a pretty decent run. I ended with a 2:19:58 while not having played the game for ages, having to get used to a no-delay monitor (Yes, it was that big of a difference for me) and playing on english and forgetting about the version differences a few times. Still a solid run with a perfect Air-Combo Anti-Sora, my personal highlight of the run.
  12.
  13. Second Run: Kingdom Hearts III Beginner Any%
  14. Afterwards we had the KHIII race: Mondstriker and Kayarune vs NesuPlays and me. It was a blast to have these 3 people on my side while running this as I believe that even if we lacked a bit of skill on all ends we still managed to give a really great performance on the run in terms of entertainement level, I would say it came pretty close to GDQ Level of KH runs which I am really proud of. Shoutouts again to these 3 for joining me on that, it was a blast!
  15. After that I had a bit of a break before continuing with my other 2 runs, both again in the middle of the night.
  16.
  17. Third Run: Undertale - Neutral Ending (Any%)
  18. While the Undertale run went pretty solid I am very happy that with my little experience I was able to show of most glitches pretty quickly, especially as many people apparently never saw a glitched run. Watching an Undertale run for the first time is always just a blast as you'll be seeing the game in a completly different way.
  19.
  20. Fourth Run: Digimon World 3
  21. And my final run on the event was my Digimon World 3 run. This was the first time ever DW3 made it into an Onsite event as the game generally is not consistent enough for a marathon, but a lot of tweeks can be made in the route to achieve that consistency. The beginning went really well except for the Item Grind part, it took me ~25-28 kills to get the TNT Ball, which has an 18.75% chance to drop. Most likely a world record in bad luck from what we know so there is that I guess. Afterwards things went well until the second Item grind started, the Counter Crest grind. This items has a 6.25% chance to drop which is 1:16. In case this Item wouldn't drop I premade a savefile that has this item already just to be able to show a full run. However I did NOT need to load the file as I managed to get the drop on my 4th kill!!! This was insane and made me extremly happy, but that's about where the good luck of the run ended. Don't get me wrong, from what I heard the run was still very entertaining to watch and I still had a lot of fun which are the most important things, but the run itself just went downhill from here. Basically everything that could go wrong did go wrong from now on and I ended the run 59 minutes over my pb, 16 minutes over an already raised estimate, but 4 minutes jnder the "true" estimate :P
  22.
  23. Generally I was extremly happy that I was able to show some speedruns that are what I feel way underrated in the germany speedrunning scene (Except Kh3) and I am glad a lot of my runs got accepted, even if it resulted in 2 night shifts and close to no sleep :)
  24.
  25. But speedrun events are not only about the speedruns, it is also a place to meet a bunch of old online friends in real life as the distance makes this hard in other scenarios, as well as making a lot of new friends. While during SpeedCon19 I did kind of feel like an outsider a bit (Probably just my imagination anyway, it was still fun :) this was not the case at all on DoKomi. From the very first moment I felt like home, literally every single person was unbelievebly nice and polite. Of course, everyone had his more or less weird quirk which you sometimes noticed during the events as well (Like me not being able to stop talking during Commentary) but that did not matter at all. So many new people that I've never seen before and even some already known faces, all together in one place for the same reason. Everyone was a part of Something bigger here and that's what I am very thankful for :)
  26. I won't name most of the people here as I am 117% sure that I'll forget some names so sorry for that, but I do want to point out that apparently one person some of you might know as "Weser" or "weserwurst" apparently lives a 15 minute ride with the bike away from me, literally in the next little village which is just insane! Of course you're bound to eventually meet people that live close-by as well, but it still hypes me up every single time I learn about this :)
  27.
  28. So, the tl;dr
  29. The DoKomi 2019 was an incredible experience. My first onsite marathon in which I had some runs myself, my second one in general. Every single run was a blast to show and not gonna lie I do want to say that I myself think I did a very good job on each of the runs aling with the various commentators I had throughout the different games. None of the runs were outstandingly good in terms of skill but I do believe me and my commentators/race companions were able to show entertaining speedruns.
  30. I am thankful for every new friend I made there and happy that I was able to finally meet Kayarune and NesuPlays outside of Discord & Co.
  31. This event showed me a completly different side of speedrunning I definetely already thought of before but never really acknowledged or experienced as much as I do now.
  32. I'll do my best to showbup to as many events as possible from now one :)
  33. Next stop: ESA Summer!!!
  34.
  35.
  36. So, it took me 35 minutes to quickly write all of this up. I might've forgotten a detail or two, had some typos and some grammar mistakes, but I tried my best sharing my experience with you guys.
  37. Whether you read through the entire thing, only a specific section, the tl;dr or this text, thank you for just opening this pastebin and even considering reading through it. I am truly grateful for that.
  38. And now I hole that god damn train arrives so I can finally sleep somewhwre that doesn't transfer me 150km further than I need to go :P
  39. G'night y'all
  40. Also Axends, if you happend to read this:
