- To say that I was in a rough spot pre-SGDQ would be a pretty strong understatement. We put my cat to sleep and that still hurts, my dad went to the hospital and found he had a new aneurysm along with a bunch of other problems, work was terrible, my car became a ticking time bomb and the new car I was trying to buy was apparently impossible to find. I was very ready to just withdraw from everything. Thankfully this was not the case.
- Firstly, my dad got through his surgery "fine" as long as you define "fine" as being under the knife for something like 9 hours with a chance of both death and becoming paraplegic. He isn't home yet because he has some more work to have done but the worst is past and he should hopefully be home in a week. HUGE worry gone.
- Secondly, after caving a bit on outside color, my car was found and then promised to me within a week (I would finally FINALLY get this car Thursday morning during SGDQ). Smaller worry gone. It's a wonderful car.
- Thirdly, my mom promised me it was okay for me to go and then vowed to find new kittens to bring into the family. She came through with a couple of kittens she got from a family for free because they couldn't take care of multiple litters. The orange girl is Ripley and the boy is tentatively named Bishop (yes both from Aliens). Yes Bishop will "do that thing with the knife" as long as you mean put all of his claws into every part of my body. Other worry gone.
- And so I ventured out to SGDQ knowing that no one was dying and was able to attempt to be myself. And it was really hard. I felt really tentative but the pre-SGDQ party and day zero helping went a long way towards getting things back on track. I really can't overstate what an amazing group of friends we have.
- And I can't really break down the whole week because it was all just so good but I love everyone very deeply and SGDQ was everything I needed. Everything kind of fell into place, plans were made and executed, a few games were played, relaxation was had, conversations were conversified, new people were met and now it just feels really good to be back. Heart Beyond Full. I can't wait to have you all here again next year.
