  1. Hey there! Monikanon here! Since the Flowey/Monika thing on Nat’s Justanechoflower blogs have gone on for a while, and there’s a login wall on the new blog for at that makes it hard to see old posts (even if there wasn’t, this has gone on for a while and also the Monika posts on old blog aren’t all in one place the I figured I may as well go over the events of that blog), I made this! This for those who wanted to know ALL that happened, so it’s much longer than the recap I gave earlier. It goes over practically everything that happened across the two blogs that are related to the Monika/Flowey crossover.
  2.
  3. If you’re more interested in what happened before the events of the blogs, but after the main DDLC game ended, I’ve made some custom dialogue detailing some of that: https://pastebin.com/4iMqD5V3
  4.
  5. It’s currently on hiatus as I aim to work out the lack of viewership in the side blog itself, but there’s still quite a bit of content. I will most likely return to that point in time eventually, though.
  6.
  7. When I finish that, who knows, I may even make custom dialogue of some scenes? (From Flowey’s POV, since I don’t know how to make him show up. I do have the actual text of the posts and it’s possible to see all of it, just hard.)
  8.
  9. —Prologue:In the beginning-
  10.
  11. Our story begins near the tail end of August 2023. For what was probably a week or so before then, Monika was watching over the blog (we know she saw Chara going after Flowey, the last bit of what lead up to that (or maybe not what lead up to it, maybe she just knows how Flowey was like before because of the game), then him changing for the better, and Chara’s permadeath in the blog, but didn’t see the previous M!A, so that narrows down the timeframe). She saw Flowey, there. Able to handle something she wasn’t able to. The knolwedge that his world was merely a game, with everything there just lines of code. And yet, she also saw some of herself in him. Both made mistakes from messing around with the other characters, thinking it didn’t really matter. And both were now trying to be better, after the ones they cared about turned against them because of what they did. So, she set up a program using her access to the console to connect her to his world. She wasn’t sure if it would work at first (Her first message to him starting with “Can you hear me?”, but soon enough she actually entered his world.) She had some hope maybe she could learn from him, having more experience with this game thing. Seeing Flowey not have an issue with it, she wondered, what is he doing differently?
  12.
  13. It was only Monika going, though, she told Sayori not to follow her because of how the epiphany works (goes to current club president decided by whoever of these are the first to exist in the game proper at the time: Monika>Sayori>Yuri>Natsuki, currently unknown what happens if none of those four exist) She didn’t want anyone else to go through what she and Sayori did.
  14.
  15. Monika and Flowey would both sympathize with each other (well, as much as they could, anyway, Flowey not having a soul and all that), as Monika mentioned how she ended up driving the player away (not quite going into the exact things she did, but she said enough to imply she did bad things with the other characters’ files thinking they weren’t real and matter). But the issue Monika came to solve wasn’t really solved. Flowey generally didn’t think much of it, which is probably due to his world not essentially forcing this upon him. It’s easy not to think of it when it’s not always blatantly shining at your face. But also, he found it out over time, rather than some sudden flash like Monika.
  16.
  17. Since Flowey didn’t want to talk much about that aspect so fast, Monika diverted to the topic to discussing literature between the two worlds.
  18.
  19. Midway through, a version of Kris (the-white-soul version, before that version got the name “Kara”. I’ll use “Kara” from now on but know they didn’t get that name yet) showed up presenting their own “story”, referencing their past, and called it a fairy tale Monika, unaware of Deltarune (games that came out after DDLC don’t exist in her game) let alone this particular variant of it, critiqued the story, while pointing out it is in no way a fairy tale, but some other genre, and gave tips on how to improve it. (Not all real events make good stories… And Kara presented it as a story.. She did get right it was about what a player in an RPG would look like from that world’s perspective). A devil anon showed up and failed to tempt Flowey.
  20.
  21. The topic went into whether Flowey writes poetry, Monika thinking maybe she could make a literature club in Flowey’s world, then Flowey made a poem about the stars, Monika made an interpretation on how that could refer to Chara, pointing out how good of a poetic way of describing the feeling of wanting to something, but knowing it’d only end badly if he did, and Flowey pretended that’s what it meant the whole time (it was really just about the literal stars)[1]
  22.
  23. Flowey and someone else made a drawing of Monika, that someone else gushed over Monika and mentioned how good she is and her guilt, leading her to discuss how she feels about that, while clarifying her actions in the first two runs were mostly an act, as revealed in the third act. Flowey wanted to see the others, Monika said that wouldn’t work because.. talking flower, so Flowey came up with disguising as a human, and mentions Nat, which leads Monika to somewhat understand that it’s some kind of ask blog they’re in, though she didn’t really get all the details at first. (She didn’t at first know about magic anons and thought the blog was post-game because of Chara being there)
  24.
  25. As for his name there, he came up with “Buttercup”. (Yes, this is where “Buttercup” came from. “Flowey” is not a human name.) He was quite excited to visit Monika’s world! (They could pretend Flowey is a nickname Sayori came up with if she or Flowey accidentally used that name, and since Undertale exists in their world, they can act like Flowey acting like himself (in case he breaks character), is Buttercup doing a Flowey impression. Monika presents her own poem, which is a rewrite of Kara’s poem.
  26.
  27. The original plan was for Flowey to turn human when they crossed over, but turning human happened early due to Kara suggesting Flowey possess Chara. There was a boop war where Monika then tried to get in the way so any boops would go to her, due to excessive booping (don’t you know you’re only supposed to boop once?) she guessed wrong on what the camera angle was though.. then Flowey booped her.
  28.
  29. Kara (and maybe a few more people) would try to push Flowey into doing bad things, while similarly saying if he did that he’d die, and pointing out that Flowey killed Chara, while also trying to make a deal with Monika to make Flowey do something bad (Flowey wouldn’t know about that until Monika told him) Monika rejected the deal of course, and also aimed to correct Kara’s assesment of Flowey and her. Flowey said he trusts Monika (but not entirely), Kara tried convincing Flowey otherwise, while Monika agreed that it probably is best to not go entirely into trust, as she explained the actions she took before aren’t excusable, while pointing out just how much she and Flowey mirror each other, while mentioning the console doesn’t work in Flowey’s world as well as Sayori being in her world and having similar abilities right now.
  30.
  31. Monika didn’t take issue with the dislike of her, but did object to Kara’ threats here and them trying to turn Flowey evil. Monika had the idea of making a backup of Flowey’s file once they arrive in her world so if he dies Monika can bring him back. Oh, and Flowey found out about the time where Kara teamed up with Shadow Flowey (an evil version of Flpwey trying to kill him or make him evil)
  32.
  33. Flowey decided he’d pretend to be transferring from a lower grade, Monika used a bit of an exploit and what she set up before to reopen the connection between the two worlds, went through it to enter the DDLC void, Sayori (because of the epiphany) noticed Monika came there, pretended to forget her poem so she had an excuse to leave, and cane to Monika there, glad she was back. Monika clarified she was just trying to see if it was safe (when the game is “closed” it’s static nonsense that would cause huge issues) and would leave again, and was called a meanie by Sayori. (Since the end of the game, Sayori has tried and tried to get Monika to come back to the club and failed)
  34.
  35. Kara would threaten Flowey again, it failed and Monika also pointed out how bad of an idea this is. The two would then return to the DDLC void. Sayori would exclaim that there’s a new member, Monika said he wasn’t staying because he has his own world, then Sayori would use that to pivot back to Monika staying, she really wants Monika to stay in the club. Monika still didn’t want to, though Sayori got her to promise to talk with Sayori right before Flowey (and maybe Monika) leaves again. (She planned, and as a backup still is, planning on using that conversation to get her not to leave, probably by pointing out how well everything went, and how they’re better off with her there.)
  36.
  37. Monika made the backup, but because of Ren’py and GMS being two different languages the console couldn’t read the files, and thanks to how character files in the game works on the PC it was another easter egg file (maybe sometime I’ll make the actual file once I work out my interpretation of Libitina and Metaverse enough?), and it was unclear whether it worked or not, so they don’t know if it works or not. (There are plans of an M!A making it stop working after the first time as well, so he gets two lives, but doesn’t know for sure it’s not still one life) Monika reveals her plan was to stay in Flpwey’s world (thinking it was post-game), Flowey points out why it’s a bad idea (while presumably not knowing Monika thinks it’s post-game), with monsters searching for humans. That let Monika know it wasn’t post-game, and also got her to decide against Flowey’s world specifically (she hadn’t worked out the full mechanics of the blog post, though by now she learned about M!A’s because of someone referencing the preschool M!A, and Monika was still thinking in-game terms, so she thought if a monster attacked the game would crash because Monika has no soul.)
  38.
  39. Monika would, after Flowey asked, explain what his game’s ending would have been, Flowey asked how they feel without souls, and Monika revealed that’s just a difference in words. She found out the differences in worlds is probably why Flowey reacted differently than she did, and then decided she was even more sure probably wouldn’t stick around in the club, and the others should never find out they’re in a game. The two discussed what books should be brought to the clubroom, Monika restored her own file from the backup folders so she’s part of the game proper, and then the two would enter the club! This was the end of the first arc on the main blog, now we transition to the new blog reserved for the DDLC world.
  40.
  41. —-Act 1, Day 1:Welcome to the Literature Club!—
  42.
  43. After Monika and Flowey entered the club (with Flowey having a large number of books since he still didn’t know what they’d like), one thing was apparent:The game continued as it were before, though nobody except Flowey and Sayori recalled Monika ever existed. Sayori decided to say the club was Monika’s idea the whole time, and Monika, keeping the real nature of this secret, decided to say she basically encouraged Sayori to make one when she found out about their shared interest in literature, and gave Sayori pointers on how to run it well, but didn’t join until now because she was busy being one of the leaders of the Debate Club.
  44.
  45. Thanks to lines starting with # being rendered as comments, Monika and Sayori can talk to each other secretly using the console itself. Flowey would somehow be able to see this and do the same thing. It’s unclear why, but Monika guesses it has something to do with his capabilities with six souls, and souls not existing in this world breaking any check that uses souls as a variable.
  46.
  47. The club members were all about to share poems, and Sayori had the idea of having all three of them share poems and have “Buttercup” (Flowey’s human name) try and guess who made what, before they start actually discussing the poems as usual. They’d discuss things about themselves, and Sayori said Buttercup could ask each of them one question to try and get to know them better before the poems get shared. Flowey asked his questions and actually included Monika, learning some about everyone (but being mistaken on Yuri because his question just so happened to line up with one of her interests, and his read on Monika being “the secret mastermind behind the club!”) Monika’d elaborate more on the club (at least her story of the club) with Sayori telling everyone they should all be doing their best here since they’d want Monika to stick around. (She mentioned to the minimum of four club members needed for a club, and through the console to Monika she brought up her saying if she found a way to get around that she’d get a faculty member of the school to confirm it to them. Which is impossible because of how non-character “entities” work. It’s unclear if she genuinely forgot this or if it’s part of a plan to get Monika to stay, or just an excuse to later have a celebration of the club being saved if Monika decides to stay.)
  48.
  49. Yuri, Sayori, and Natsuki all put their poems on the table, presumably out of view, before they were all revealed at once. Yuri’s was Ghost Under the Light, Natsuki’s was Amy Likes Spiders, and Sayori’s was a new poem entirely called “Shining Stars”. [2]
  50.
  51. Flowey got stumped, made wrong guesses, then thought maybe Yuri made two, then decided he wanted Monika to join in on the guessing, though thanks to Monika’s prior knowledge of them though, she tried objecting to the guessing game (secretly because she thought it’d give her away), basically saying she already knows Sayori’s handwriting from when they first met, so she’d recognize it from that, but Flowey saw what was going on and came up with his own way to make it work, while to everyone he pretended he thought Monika was being a coward, and Sayori pretended to think Monika didn’t want to show off and thought she’d dominate them and make them feel bad. (They’d have someone else copy all three poems, and, out of view from the other two, it was decided that this someone would be Sayori. Sayori using the console here to just change the game’s rendering of the poems to all be in her font/“handwriting”, but played off how quick that was by saying she only copied the poems that weren’t hers, and kept her original copy.) He also with the console asked Monika to help him out here, and Monika revealed through the console on how his original suspicious were all incorrect.
  52.
  53. Monika found herself able to play it off successfully, giving reasons why she guessed all of them correctly, while being stumped on what Yuri’s poem meant. Monika’s analysis got Flowey to try analyzing the poems as well, and this time actually getting pretty close guesses to what they were about, not just Amy Likes Spiders (which was the poem Monika actually went into detail about the meaning of). But when the colors of Ghost in the Light came to be, he was under the impression it had something to do with the prior events of the game. (He didn’t say it out loud though)
  54.
  55. (Natsuki would get a bit mad at Flowey’s first interpretation of “Amy likes Spiders” when seeing Flowey got Yuri’s spot-on, but Monika explained how it makes sense since the analysis of Natsuki came before he got the idea to look deeper into the poems.)
  56.
  57. Flowey would then ask Monika to go over her own interpretation of Sayori’s poem. So, she did. Sayori seemed to look dejected when Monika said she was stumped on the sun and how Sayori didn’t meet anyone look like that. It’s unclear whether this was due to failing to mention the MC (The player named him “Ivan” so that’s what Sayori calls him) or if it was assuming the sun is a person (Sayori will decide what story to use later)
  58.
  59. The poem was a metaphor to Sayori’s state of running the club. The stars being the club members, the clouds being what makes the mood there sour, fire being what she does to keep everything running smoothly and the club members all happy. She was slowly getting exhausted from all that (and also keeping the truth of their world away, but Sayori didn’t mention that, instead mentioning club paperwork). Monika would then mention the vice president, and how maybe the vice president should help and Sayori went over why Sayori didn’t ask Yuri… before deciding that Monika should be the Vice President starting after this meeting, as part of a transition towards Monika becoming the club president. Flowey asked if they’re trying to bore him out with paperwork talk when that’s mentioned, saying if he was president he’d be rich and hire people. (Monika didn’t get that at first since club presidents don’t automatically get money.) She goes over her analysis of Yuri’s poem, mostly getting it correct (I interpret it as close to how Yuri describes it in-game:The light being the last remnant of the past, and the speaker being unable to move on and embrace the new future.)
  60.
  61. Flowey still was worried Yuri’s somehow being influenced by memories of the earlier runs of the game, though Yuri didn’t catch on to that, took Flowey wishing (also saying Monika and Sayori are also doing that) Yuri hope that she moves on from whatever it was as… Flowey being spot-on with the meaning of the poem, nostalgia, and that Yuri had no specific incident in mind (she prefers to leave things up to the reader’s interpretation… Flowey would rather stick with Natsuki’s style) and from that worked out he was wrong about it being about prior game events. He said he’d set up a lemonade stand (really he plans on using this to get gold from the underground and say he got the money from the stand). He also challenged Natsuki to a baking duel, telling her to bring baked goods tomorrow, which she accepted (her ego and insecurities wouldn’t let her back down after all) There’d also be two stands as well, for after that club meeting, each in different places (under the pretense of making sure neither stall messes things up for the other, but it’s really so nobody notices Flowey’s getting his gold from elsewhere)
  62.
  63. Sayori announced the end of the club meeting, saying tomorrow has no special twist to the poem sharing, it’s standard, since she couldn’t think of anything and also Buttercup’s new.
  64.
  65. Back in the void, they’d talk about the merits of Monika’s idea of just… not telling them anything, with Flowey and Sayori pointing out that’s not sustainable. Flowey and Sayori would then work out exactly the best way to tell them.. and it’d start by getting closer to them first. They’ll keep the club going for a day or so, then start going over the elements of the game itself, and after that, finally, the events of the prior timelines. Then they discuss ideas on the “how” for steps 2 and 3 more specifically, Monika figures maybe letting Sayori bring the club was a mistake if they can’t just keep this away from them, but was reassured by Sayori their plan on telling them gently will work… she also reconnects the two worlds figuring the askers will have their own ideas. (Monika sticking around the club in the first place still hasn’t been confirmed, but Sayori already has plans of getting her to stay. And given how crafty she can be in some cases, good chance she’ll succeed here)
  66.
  67. Clover asks what Flowey was doing, he teasingly said he was teaming up with Monika and planned on backstabbing everyone there to take all their souls, but then revealed his idea of helping them get over the epiphany. He asked Monika if there was homework, but thankfully the script didn’t have a reference to it anywhere! He then reveals what he plans on presenting to the club, heart-shaped cookies with jelly in the middle. Clover M!A’s Flowey a weapon, causing Monika to freak out a bit since they don’t belong at the school, but thankfully Flowey is still running by the inventory system, so nobody would notice it unless he literally equips it. (Monika also managed to find some way to rationalize how that even worked without facing the conclusion her world is run like a blog as well, by me… hehehe) Clover also mentions they’d he afraid of Monika if they were the one seeing her.
  68.
  69. Flowey and Monika would discuss where the cooking should happen and where it should look like Flowey’s staying. One idea that’s thrown around by Monika (though she didn’t really believe in it) is him staying at the house that was originally MC’s, but not letting anyone else know his exact area of residence of course since they shouldn’t know that, Sayori also adding onto what might happen when MC comes back. (He also shouldn’t go giving himself away by peeking out the windows and announcing his presence of course… thankfully there’s walls so nobody knows he’s with Monika) This brings up a tangent on whether or not that’s even possible at all, Sayori wanting to bring him back but Monika being convinced you can’t make a full character from what little of him there was. Monika responded to clover by explaining more on the file system and Sayori and Flowey somehow being able to access that, and the inability of the console to interpret Flowey’s character file. An asker asked who the best doki is, Flowey didn’t quite know, and Monika clarified the asker must have played the game, (and gets the wrong idea on why meta elements were ignored). Flowey said he wouldn’t play the game even if he had the chance, seeing he can’t imagine dating anyone. (Dramatic irony, this was written after the main blog (which skips these events entirely and jumps to what happened after the trip to the club ends) had him having an unofficial wedding with Frisk. If only he knew that in under a year he’ll do that..)
  70.
  71. As for bringing MC back, Flowey said it’s doable, though Sayori said they should probably wait until after Flowey leaves before starting on that to avoid MC and Flowey “staying” at the same place, and also adding bringing him into the current mix with all this other stuff going on would just make it much more complex. With the questions stopping Monika decided it’s time for them to go to her house for what they’ll be doing next. Flowey went all in on asking Monika why she isn’t into that idea, and insists that they’ll actually try doing this.
  72.
  73. And that’s all so far! (I already sent my next submission, where Sayori comes up with the idea of it starting during Flowey’s last trip in the DDLC void instead.)

  76. FAQ:
  77.
  78. Q:Is this canon to the main Justanechoflower blog?
  79.
  80. A:Everything here before Flowey entered the literature club is canon. Everything between that up to (not including) the final paragraph was confirmed to be canon-compatible (Since everything in the side blog up to May 14 2024 was confirmed canon compatible, when Nat said on that day that so far there aren’t any issues with it being canon). Past that, it is unconfirmed.
