  5. Silque- Ah, hello Kliff.
  6. Kliff- Did you need something?
  7. Silque- I just wanted to talk. Is there a problem with that?
  8. Kliff- I suppose not. I just prefer not to waste my time with small talk. It's unproductive.
  9. Silque- How do you mean?
  10. Kliff- Well, since you can't seem to get it, allow me to spell it out for you: I have no interest in people. Unless I can get something out of an interaction, I'd rather spend my down time reading or studying magic.
  11. Silque- Well then why don't we talk about magic? Or perhaps a good book that we've read recently?
  12. Kliff- You can, but you'll be wasting your breath.
  13. Silque- We'll see about that.

  17. Silque- Kliff.
  18. Kliff- What is it now?
  19. Silque- You've never met your father, correct?
  20. Kliff- ...Yeah, what about it?
  21. Silque- I have never met my father either.
  22. Kliff- I'm sure you're dying to tell me about it.
  23. Silque- Must you be so rude to someone who is trying to be nice to you? Would it kill you to open up a little and have a conversation?
  24. Kliff- Probably.
  25. Silque- Can't you try to be pleasant towards others who want to be nice to you?
  26. Kliff- It's pretty hard to believe that people are trying to be nice when being open and friendly has only ever brought me pain. Every time I've let someone into my life, they take advantage of me and get under my skin. It happened all the time back in school, and it still happens now among people that I care about, like Tobin and Gray. So excuse me for being a little hesitant to talk to every stranger I meet who claims that they want to get to know me.
  27. Silque- You are a sad man, Kliff. Blocking out your problems and refusing to face them is not the way you should go about living your life. You will die alone and you will die unhappy on the current path that you are on. I pray that you come to your senses and realize that this is no way you should be living your life, because it would take a message from the mother herself to sway you as you are.
  28. Kliff-...

  32. Kliff- Silque.
  33. Silque- By the mother... Has my prayer been heard?
  34. Kliff- I'm sorry for being so rude to you. I don't like getting attached to others because typically, it ends with me getting hurt, and I've dealt with too much of that in my life. However, I can try to change, and I want to try and change.
  35. Silque- That's wonderful! I'm glad that the mother has enabled me to help you overcome your problems. What did you have in mind?
  36. Kliff- In all honesty, I don't think I can make a complete change overnight. It would probably take years to undo the amount of emotional barriers and defense mechanisms I've set up for myself. I can't guarantee that I'll be able to change at all for that matter, but I want to try. I want to start being more up-front with people about things. Trying to put myself out there more, regardless of what... Annoying remarks others have to say to me.
  37. Silque- If you're not sure, you can always try and practice with me. I'm always open to conversation.
  38. Kliff- Do you think we could start now?
  39. Silque- Certainly.
  40. Kliff- The other day you asked me about my father, correct?
  41. Silque- Yes. Both of us grew up without fathers so I figured it would be a good place to start.
  42. Kliff- I don't know much about my father, but one of the things I do know is that he's left me with this.
  43. Silque- Hold on... That birthmark!
  44. Kliff- What about it?
  45. Silque- Look here, on my shoulder. I have the same birthmark. See!
  46. Kliff- Wait, then that would mean that we share the same father.
  47. Silque- It appears so. Although our mother's are different, we are blood all the same.
  48. Kliff- I suppose this could be exciting after all...

  52. After the war, Silque set out on a pilgrimage to help aid the war-torn people of Rigel. Kliff would accompany her, learning many new things and making plenty of new friends in the process. Eventually, Kliff would leave to parts unknown, but a few years later, a young man claiming to be Kliff's son appeared at Silque's home, with seemingly wonderful news.
