- Joyous Requiem
- IZI TE CONCUUR EYYUT SAMNEL DEATH WILL DESCEND UPON THIS WORLD
- CHARACTERS
- Knight Sharo Locksin: High Ranking knight of the Kingdom of Aerobor. Ex-Mercenary who
- uses his position to murder indiscriminately. He was prophesied to bring an end to the Crystalline Church, which is why a spy was sent to prevent that from coming to fruition.
- Sharo starts off the story as an unforgivable bastard. His first appearance shows him slaughtering an entire village of innocents, just before being awarded the next day, taking part in a ceremony commemorating him and his troupe for their bravery as Knights. He cons, pillages, and murders for a laugh, only ever showing any signs of weakness near his mother, who is the only one he feels safe around.
- He decides to leave the knighthood, after he befriends Thath and begins to take up bounties as a mercenary again, as Knights are prohibited from taking up bounties.
- Over the course of the story, he bears witness to the pain he’s created. He vows to turn over a new leaf, thanks to the manipulation of Thath Aegla, a Crystalline spy posing as a thief sent to prevent any complications for the Church. His change of heart was too late, however, as he takes his own life after he is forced to kill Thath, and witnesses the power of Apolyse.
- Thief/Spy Thath Aegla: Primary antagonist: An orphaned child taken in by the Crystalline Church, Thath was raised as a disciple of the Crystalline faith. He spends the entire narrative spying on Sharo and the party.
- The Prophet Gertrude foretold that Sharo may lead to the Church's downfall. Thath was sent to avert Sharo’s path. He was able to seduce the former Knight, and secures the occurrence of the Apocalypse.
- Thath is typically a pacifist, only attacking in self defense. He has a collection of amulets which alter the wearers appearance into whomever they wish, albeit for a limited time. He uses this to sneak around guards, and even impersonate important figures.
- However, Thath is not always who he seems. As a member of the Crystalline Church, he will commit mass atrocities if ordered to by the High Priest. Burning villages, sacrificing friends, and bringing about the apocalypse will not phase Thath, if it is done in service of the Church.
- Despite all of this, Thath really does like Sharo. He truly feels for him, and likely would have lived with him the rest of his life had the apocalypse not occured.
- Mercenary Zylake Netal: A leader of a mercenary group, she taught Sharo everything he knew about combat. She was close friends with Sharo, though soured towards him after he left to join the Knights of Aerobor, seeing him as weak because of it. She joins the party in order to reconnect with Sharo after supposedly being overthrown by her own group.
- Zylake is typically boisterous and outgoing, though she uses this to try and hide how she’s feeling. She’s loud and bombastic in order to try and distract herself from her issues, even something that requires immediate attention. She’d rather laugh everything off, rather than address it directly.
- Zylake is later revealed to be bearing a child, though the father is unknown. After the party gets rid of Graaf, and begins to be hunted by mercenaries, she decides to hang up her sword and live a life in peace, as she has no bounty, and recently gave birth to her son. This peace is short lived, however, as the church kidnaps her and sacrifice her and her son for the summoning ritual of Apolyse.
- Magic Apprentices Throntikus and Throntikes Eos: The Eos twins are that of high complexion. They’re hails from Moiria, where they were students of the most prominent magic schools in Sunwoll, the Moirian School of Elevated Magics and Sorceries. However, after finding themselves in a drunken stupor at a banquet, they unintentionally set fire to the entire School’s collection of books, which then spread to the rest of the kingdom They were exiled from the Kingdom, later deciding to become clerics in the neighboring kingdoms with the magic they’d learned in their short tenure at the school.
- However, due to repeatedly being around the dead, most of whom died due to the effects of Green Eye, Throntikes fell ill. In order to save his sister’s life, Throntikus created a Soul Bond between them. It allows Throntikes to be alleviated of all the ailments that which Green Eye brings forth, for the price of the two being linked when it comes to physical harm. Whatever injuries a recipient sustains is dealt to the other in equal measure.
- Though they fancy themselves proper folk, they are not afforded such luxury in Sunwoll, blood and Green Eye constantly sullying their typically lavish attire. Though they aren’t introduced on the best of terms, the two quickly become an irreplaceable part of the party. They die at the hands of mercenaries, due to Throntikus receiving a bolt to the throat, after the Church places a bounty on him and the party.
- Dark Liege Graaf: The False antagonist of the story. After the King of Moiria learned the true intentions of the Church, he set out to stop them before it is too late. The Church responded by framing him for a myriad of crimes and placing a one million nent bounty on his head, which is
- what the party are after. Only after killing Graaf does the party learn of the coming apocalypse, but it is too little too late.
- Crystalline Church: The true antagonists of the story. They believe the world to be filled with rot and decay, with corrupt kings slaughtering millions, knights being heralded for their bravery whilst they burn down villages in the name of the crown, and bars and brothels filled to the brim with disease and gore. They seek to make a world reborn by summoning the Arch Daemon Apolyse, which will lay waste to the world. They follow the teachings of a long dead civilization. Their language is unknown, as all of their art and culture was lost when King Aerobor (the first king of the Kingdom of Aerobor) ordered all traces of the previous kingdom to be destroyed.
- However, one phrase on one piece of paper survived: “Izi te Concuur Eyyut Samnel”:Death Will Descend Upon This World.
- The Church was founded by the last member of the Coracil, the civilization that existed before Aerobor. The Coracil had mystical abilities due to worshipping a Pantheon of deities and daemons. As previously mentioned, King Aerobor conquered their land, slaughtered every member of the race, and had all traces of their existence removed. All were killed. All but one.
- The Coracil did not reveal his true intentions, instead using religion to take advantage of the public’s slow descent into death (see Opening Monologue ) and posing as a prophet (see Prophet Gertrude )
- The remaining member created the Church in order to get revenge for the death of his civilization, deceiving his believers in order to bring down Aerobor. He foretells that Sharo may bring down the Church, and sends Thath, a long time member at this point, to ensure he does not thwart their plans. He summons Apolyse and sacrifices himself to bring about the Apocalypse.
- Prophet Gertrude: Alias of the last of the Coracil. Created the Crystalline Church to enact revenge upon Aerobor.
- Sharo’s Mother: An old soul who is kind to all. She makes it her life’s work to bring joy to all those in her village, hoping to make the world a wee bit better as a result. She dies in a fire cause by the Knights of Aerobor, as directed by Thath.
- Additional Notes
- A Prophecy: Prophet Gertrude foretells (thanks to his Coracilian abilities) that Sharo, if left to his own devices, will eventually dismantle the Church. To avoid this, they send Thath to make him less bloodthirsty and to try and make him human.
- Aerobor: The kingdom the story takes place in. Created after the slaughter and subsequent erasure of the Coracil race.
- King Aerobor: The first king of Aerobor. He ransacked and demolished Coracilia and its people, systematically erasing all traces of their existence.
- King Aerobor the VII: the current king. The party learns that he is and has been attempting to make reforms to the Kingdom, but the actions of his forefathers make change impossible. His hands are bound.
- Green Eye: A disease that infests Aerobor. Named for causing the patients brains to turn green and liquify, leaking out the eyes. The Crystalline Church uses it as proof to show that the world is tainted and must be purged.
- Nent: Currency used in the universe
- Moiria: Neighboring kingdom. Filled with incredible feats of architecture, with clean streets and extravagant cathedrals. Sharo here learns that death and pestilence is not the norm. Their king turns out to be Dark Liege Graaf. The Kingdom falls to ruin after the party kill him.
- Coricilia: Previous kingdom before Aerobor. Destroyed by King Aerobor
- Coracil: Race of the doomed Coricilia. All but one were wiped out. The Prophecy is written in
- their language
- The Blinded Drunkard: The tavern in Aerobor, where Thath and Sharo first meet
- The Children: The devout members of the Crystalline Church. The last Coracil manipulates them to serve his plans for the apocalypse (note: not actual children)
- Tritza : opposing force in the Generation War. The creation and subsequent mass production of complex war machines gave them the edge to win the war, causing Aerobor to spiral down into a state of disrepair
- Generation War: the longest war in Sunwoll history, spanning across generations. Territorial and trading disputes between Aerobor and Tritza led to a large scale conflict which led to Tritza flourishing, while Aerobor was nearly destroyed.
- Preface/Opening Monologue
- My children, I come bringing you good news of the Modern Day. A shining glimmer of hope that will alleviate us of our suffering. For I come with stories that which tell of a new day for our kingdom. For the Pantheon has spoken, and has told me this:
- Centuries ago saw the birth of the flourishing Kingdom of Coricilia. Working together in harmony, they worshipped the Pantheon as they deserved to be, and created the greatest civilization that has ever graced this continent of Sunwoll. However, only so much is known about Coricilia, as all was lost once King Aerobor I, with his armies and his naivete, conquered the Kingdom before they could disseminate their culture to the rest of Sunwoll, dooming both Coricilia and Aerobor to a future of darkness and decay. After his slaughter, the first king ordered the destruction of every remnant of Coricilian culture, leaving it to exist only in the legends and hearsay of the people.
- Today, this Kingdom of Aerobor lies in ruin. Decades of fruitless wars leave the peoples uneducated, and the children without homes. As the kings prosper in their palaces, the rest of the citizens scavenge and pillage for a single night’s meal. Aerobor has been tainted, and has a future fraught with death.
- However, a remnant of Coricilian culture remains. A single fragment of a single page of a single book was found amidst the charred remains of a library. Translated into the common tongue, it provides us with a prophecy for the future:
- It read: IZI TE CONCUUR EYYUT SAMNEL. Death will descend upon this world.

- TIMELINE
- ● Intro monologue
- ● Sharo and the Knights of Aerobor are introduced; pillage and mauraude a village. Sharo
- remarks how mundane it’s becoming. He reminisces on his days as a mercenary.
- ● Sharo is awarded for his bravery as a knight during a ceremony the next day. The
- difference in status between the lavish castle and the destitute audience makes itself
- apparent.
- ● Sharo is granted a day’s leave on the day of the ceremony
- ● Sharo visits his mother’s house. His mother is introduced. He gives her a portion of his
- pay.
- ● Sharo stops by a tavern known as the Blinded Drunkard. A fight breaks out, and a man
- is killed with a long sword. Business continues as usual, many don’t notice.
- ● Sharo comes in contact with Thath
- ● Thath and Sharo share a few pints of ale. Sharo just wants Thath to leave
- ● Thath tips Sharo off to the bounty board.
- ● Sharo notices the million Nent bounty on Graaf.
- ● Sharo leaves the tavern and returns to his mother’s home.
- ● Sharo returns from his leave
- ● Sharo goes on another mission. He is told to dismantle a cultish organization speaking ill
- of the crown.
- ● It does not go as planned. Sharo is forced to kill civilians who attack him for being a
- knight, while the leader disappears into the crowd.
- ● He returns to his room, armor still caked with blood
- ● Bronce enters his room. He saw what happened.
- ● He tells Sharo that he won’t report it to the Generals, but he says Sharo needs to learn
- why he is still fighting, and that he can’t use his sword to run away from the things he
- doesn’t want to address.
- ● He gives Sharo another container of ale. This one is a surprising improvement.
- ● Bronce leaves Sharo to himself.
- ● Sharo receives word that he’s to raid an enemy camp site the next day. Sharo starts to
- consider leaving.
- ● Sharo goes to the Blinded Drunkard at night, bringing
- ● Thath is there in the same seat he was the last time.
- ● Sharo and Thath share a few more pints.
- ● After discussing with Thath, he decides to leave the knighthood and to become a
- mercenary once more. Thath is a bit reluctant, as he does not enjoy fighting. Sharo
- convinces him to stick with him, and he’ll save all the killing for himself.
- ● Sharo and Thath take up a bounty to steal a prized jewel located in a Thieves guild.
- ● Before he leaves, he collects a few of his things from his room in the castle.
- ● He encounters Bronce inside. He asks Sharo if he’s getting to bed. Sharo says yes.
- Bronce says his goodnites, and tells him to not go running away from his problems.
- ● Once Bronce leaves, Sharo leaves the castle for good
- ● Thath offers that Sharo and he sneak in with Thath’s amulets, items of great power that can disguise it’s wearer as whomever they please.
- ● Sharo refuses, wary of Thath’s use of magic. There aren’t any magic users in Aerobor
- ● He offers to just attack head on.
- ● Due to Thath’s pacifism, Sharo goes headlong through the front gate, sustaining
- multiple wounds from guards and other such thieves. After much deliberation, he arrives
- where the jewel was to be kept, finding nothing.
- ● He assumes that the thieves took it and ran
- ● He makes his way outside the guildhouse, only to find Thath polishing the jewel.
- ● On their way back, Thath and Sharo discuss the amulets, Sharo coming around to his
- use of it, due to its limited nature.
- ● The duo continue with bounties, making quite a bit of nent.
- ● Sharo takes a large portion of his nent and gives it to his mother. She then uses it to
- help the members of her village.
- ● Her mother tells Sharo about the terrible things she’s heard of. A neighbor of hers
- recently road into the capital and witnessed the horrors that are plaguing the city.
- ● Sharo and Thath return to the tavern to share some more pints. Zylake sits next to
- Sharo, after years of not seeing each other.
- ● Zylake teases Sharo on leaving her mercenary group, later revealing she was kicked out
- of it herself.
- ● After a few more pints, Zylake decides to join the party.
- ● The three decide to take up the Million Nent bounty on Graaf.
- ● They start by having Thath find clues as to his whereabouts. He finds out is that he may
- be a political figure of the kingdom of Moiria.
- ● They set out immediately
- ● On the way, they come across what they believe to be trade envoy, moving down the
- street behind them
- ● Sharo and Zylake decide to pillage it to break up the monotony of travel.
- ● They succeed, though Zylake sustains heavy injury
- ● She has a gaping wound on the side of her stomach. Blood is pouring out at an alarming
- rate.
- ● “Shit, Zylake are you alright?”/”What are you talking about? This is nothing.”/ “This isn’t
- “nothing” you dumb cunt, you’re losing a lot of blood. You need to cover it or something, I don’t know. Point is you need to fix that now.”/ “Oh shut up, you’ve just gone soft. I feel fine, I am fine. E-Evrythins fne....” She begins to feel a tad woozy. “I’m just-gonna take a lil’ nap for th whoile mkay?” She collapses onto the floor.
- ● Thath runs back to the camp, yelling at Thath to come over quickly
- ● Thath arrives, horrified at all the blood
- ● Sharo asks Thath to do something.
- ● It turns out Thath is afraid of blood
- ● “One of these days, I am going to kill you. What kid of thief are you that you get scared over blood?”
- ● Thath eventually gets the nerve to assist Zylake, who is still out of it.
- ● He pulls out another purple cloak from his bag, pressing it inside the wound.
- ● He then mixes together a collection of herbs and fluids in a wooden bowl.
- ● He then removes the cloak, pouring the mixture onto the wound.
- ● “I’m sorry, but this will take awhile given how severe the wound is.”/ “Oh come on, by the
- time we’re through Graaf’ll be dead. Can’t we just pick her up and travel on foot?” /
- “Alright fine, but you’re carrying her.”
- ● Sharo picks up the unconscious Zylake and puts her over his shoulder. However, he
- realizes that the sun is already setting.
- ● “Fine, you win. Just set up the fire.”
- ● Camp is set up. Thath drifts to sleep while Sharo waits for Zylake to wake up.
- ● Many hours pass.
- ● More hours pass.
- ● Hours pass still
- ● Finally, it is daybreak.
- ● Sharo was not able to sleep.
- ● Zylake wakes up.
- ● “Alright you bum-fuckers let’s go”/ Thath speaks up “Let’s go? You were completely out
- of it you’re in no condition to be walking” / “Eh. It’ll heal. ONWARD WE GO” She
- marches on, though noticeably limping on her right side.
- ● Blood was still dripping from the wound, but Thath didn’t want to say anything.
- ● “Is she always like this?” / “What, a half-wit? Of course. Something tells me that part of
- her head that gives off pain never formed.”
- ● While pillaging, they find a half-finished letter, revealing that they were on their way to
- Aerobor and had lost their way. They were to deliver supplies to the King to be
- distributed throughout the Kingdom.
- ● They make out with thousands of Nent each, though Thath is reluctant to accept. They
- decide to set up camp.
- ● Thath uses a flint and a piece of iron to make a campfire that he kept in his pouch he
- keeps around his neck
- ● Zylake cooks for the group. Makes a specialty spicy chicken that causes Thath to faint
- and Sharo to have convulsions due to the spice. Zylake is unphased. She is used to this
- reaction. She continues to eat her chicken.
- ● In the middle of the night, Sharo decides to stop by his mother’s house to drop off some
- of the Nent he’d made. Thath notices him gone, and follows him into the night.
- ● Sharo sees the village ablaze. He rushes in to find the cause.
- ● He finds Lik and Bronce, two of the Knights he had commanded.
- ● The knights welcome him back, saying they were just following an order given by the
- King. There was apparently a rebel group in one of the houses.
- ● Sharo goes blank. The knights approach him.
- ● Sharo loses his touch on reality. He brutalizes the knights.
- ● He walk towards his house. He sees his mother’s corpse.
- ● He falls to his knees and sobs uncontrollably.
- ● Thath finds him in front of the house. He holds Sharo to comfort him.
- ● Sharo stays on his knees. His tears run dry, yet he still stays.
- ● After an unknown amount of time, the fire stops. Ash coats their apparel.they return to
- the campsite. It is daybreak.
- ● Sharo is still digesting everything. Zylake asks what happened, but neither answer. They
- continue to Moiriawith newfound silence.
- ● The party encounters a fire. A small church has been lit ablaze.
- ● Graaf stands at the center of the destruction.
- ● The party instigates a fight (excluding Thath)
- ● The party collapses, Graaf unmoving. Their fates are unknown.
- ● Perspective shifts to two new characters, Throntikus and Throntikes Eos. They’ve been
- called to assist a man with Green Eye.
- ● Throntikus says the man is too far gone, and is already close to death. Throntikes
- mutters an incantation to numb the patient to let them die in peace.
- ● On his travel home, the twins encounter the party. They take them into their keep.
- ● The party wakes up, their wounds mended.
- ● They awake to find a well kept house, soft, silk carpets with a kettle of tea over an open
- flame in a fireplace.
- ● The twins introduce themselves. Their accents are unknown to the party, though
- decidedly posh. They appear to have inverse scars. One has a scar that curves
- downward just under the left eye, and the other has one across the right eye,
- ● After a bit of small talk, the twins offers to go with them after hearing of the bounty. They
- plans to use his cut of the bounty to help develop the cure for Green Eye.
- ● Sharo objects. Aeroborians have a stigma towards magic users.
- ● Suddenly, a hatchet is thrown through the door. Before it reaches Sharo’s head,
- Throntkes casts a protective barrier.
- ● They both unsheath rapiers and cast some sort of enchantment on them in
- synchronization.
- ● A mob has developed around the twins home, believing them to be lying con artists for
- not curing their village leader of Green Eye (this is the person he was helping before)
- ● The party escapes, though the home is pillaged and burned.
- ● The twins say that they’d better be on his way, though Thath says he can come with
- them.
- ● Sharo concedes. “Alright then fine. You can come with us. Just know that in Aerobor, we
- burn witches, warlocks, and the rest of your ilk.”
- ● Throntikes “Only to be expected of a city so severely lacking in culture in intellect”
- ● Thath holds Sharo back from murdering her
- ● They continue to Moiria.
- ● The party arrives at Moiria. The quality of life is immeasurably greater than Aerobor.
- ● Moiriais almost entirely made of marble. Lavish structure of intense complexity dotting an
- unkempt city square.
- ● The party enters a tavern called Ambrosia. The party orders three ales and a
- pomegranate tea (take a guess as to who ordered that)
- ● The tavern utilizes magic for all its beverages, and is thoroughly well kept; a far cry from the filthy taverns of Aerobor.
- ● Thath overhears discussion of a political meeting taking place the next day. They theorize that they might be able to learn of Graaf’s true identity.
- ● The party agrees to infiltrate the meeting, using Thath’s amulets.
- ● The party spends the night in the tavern. They’ve only funds for three beds. Zylake insists on sleeping alone, and the twins do not wish to share the company of virtual
- strangers, leaving Thath and Sharo to sleep together
- ● Sharo is plagued by nightmares of his mother, and of the people he’s killed. He fears
- acknowledging what he’s done before and after his tenure as a knight, and is dreads one
- day keeling over due to an incurable disease.
- ● Sharo wakes up. He completely breaks down
- ● Thath was awoken by Sharo during his nightmare. He was apparently having
- conniptions
- ● Sharo tells Thath of his problems.
- ● Sharo is interrupted with gay
- ● Sharo for once feels joy.
- ● The party awakens, and set out to learn more about the meeting
- ● Zylake stays behind, doesn’t explain why.
- ● The rest of the party continues forth.
- ● They spot a noblemen on his way towards the capital, Sharo takes him into the alley for
- questioning.
- ● After a few threats from Sharo (and a few flustered objections from Thath) they learn that
- the meeting will be held in the palace, and that it will include representatives from all
- across Sunwoll, including the Crystalline Church and King Aerobor VII.
- ● Sharo slits his throat, much to the dismay of Thath
- ● The party returns to Ambrosia. They find Zylake in her room. She appears fine, though
- the twins have their doubts.
- ● They make their way to the palace. They adorn Thath’s amulets and pose as noblemen
- from a made up land
- ● Before they enter, Thath explains that they can only stay for so long, due to the limited
- amount of time that the amulets have to function.
- ● They find a banquet with rulers from a multitude of lands
- ● The twins and Zylake decide to question the nobles, while Thath investigates the rooms
- with Sharo standing guard
- ● Throntikes casts a sigil on Sharo’s hand. He tells him to activate it once they find
- something, or if something goes wrong.
- ● The twins and Zylake learn that Graaf exclusively targets the Church
- ● They plan to use this to lure Graaf out into the open, and attacking him when the time
- arrives.
- ● We then cut to Thath and Sharo. They begin walking towards the abodes of the Moirian
- political figures, bickering back and forth on how illogical this all is. On the way, Sharo passes by a certain man exiting the lavatory. King Aerobor VII
- ● Sharo leaves Thath behind. He knocks the King to the floor. Demanding the reason he commanded the deaths of so many innocents.
- ● The King concedes that he has little power to do what he wishes. The way his ancestor set up the laws made alterations impossible; change has been bound by miles of red tape. He reluctantly rules with an iron fist, powerless to stop the kingdom’s decline after decades of war.
- ● However, he holds little hatred towards his forefather. He claims he was naive, and was more of a conqueror than a ruler. He died very shortly after taking the former kingdom
- ● Sharo raises his sword, but is stopped by a teary-eyed Thath. Sharo decides to show mercy.
- ● The King flees from Sharo, not knowing his true identity.
- ● They then begin to look through the rooms of all the political figures of Moiria. The lords,
- the advisors, and finally arriving at the king’s abode.
- ● Thath finds nothing, but notices a magical barrier inside one of the king’s closets.
- ● Sharo calls for Throntikes. She appears in a blinding flash.
- ● Throntikes destroys the barrier, revealing the armour of Dark Liege Graaf.
- ● The group agrees to get Zylake and leave the party. Before they can, in walks the King.
- He says to meet him in his throne room at midnight, and asks them to come without their
- amulets
- ● Throntikes collects Zylake, says it’s urgent that they leave. The party returns to Ambrosia
- ● Sharo tells of what happened. Thath proposes they leave, as he believes they are
- woefully unqualified to kill Graaf.
- ● Zylake lashes out in anger, claiming that Thath is weak. The whole tavern goes silent.
- ● Sharo tells Zylake that if she is to lay a hand on Thath, he will “chop off her dried out
- cunt, amputate her limbs, and throw her to the corpse gatherer”. She grows silent.
- ● The party agree on confronting Graaf in his domain. They each have a round of ales,
- excluding the twins, who order two pomegranate teas once more.
- ● Sharo tells the twins to put some alcohol in his system, as it very well may be the last
- chance they have to drink.
- ● The twins, amidst the yelling, tell them the last time they got drunk, he burnt down a
- library and was exiled from his kingdom.
- ● The party naturally asks him to elaborate. He concedes, but not after a few drinks.
- ● He explains how we was a student of the Moirian School of Elevated Magics and
- Sorceries. The most prestigious magic school in all of Sunwoll
- ● At one point, they attended a party in which they became victim to a drunken stupor. A
- fellow classmate asked them to perform pyromancy for the group.
- ● The twins never had the company of others, feeling it necessary to keep to themselves,
- leaving them to feel alone, even when in each others company.
- ● Due to being inexperienced in magic (and being blackout drunk) the fire slipped from his
- hands, spreading across the banquet hall and eventually burning down the Moirian Library. Thousands of books, filled with arcane knowledge of sorceries and spells, lost forever.
- ● The fire began to spread to the rest of the city. Moirianearly collapsed because of him.
- ● The party asks how a city of marble caught fire. Throntikes says he’s the reason they use marble in the first place.
- ● He reveals that he’s always had a problem being accepted, even going as far as to fake his accent to appear more interesting.
- ● He then concedes that his previous fear of being alone has gone away as of late, seeing as how he’d managed to quickly make friends with these perfect strangers.
- ● The others are touched, but decide that the twins probably shouldn’t be drinking.
- ● The clock chimes twelve. The party makes their leave.
- ● They approach the palace. The gate is open.
- ● The inner halls have shifted. All pathways and escape routes are gone. The cream
- colored marble was replaced with soot colored obsidian.
- ● They arrive in the throne room. Dim blue lights reveal the typically cheerful king in a state
- of malicious apathy.
- ● He asks the party if “they” sent them. They don’t know what he’s referring to
- ● He laughs, saying he knows all too well what’s going on
- ● He asks them to engage in a duel, and to not hold back. Refusal would bring the King’s
- entire army on them.
- ● The party accepts. Graaf’s armor appears on the king. Wielding an overbearing black
- greatsword, the battle has begun.
- ● Thath refuses to fight, but is encouraged by Sharo. He unsheathes his apparently
- unused dagger
- ● During the fight, Graaf gets the upper hand on Thath, and swings his hulken weapon
- down on Thath.
- ● Sharo blocks the sword with his, but loses his right arm in the process.
- ● Throntikes falls back to tend to Sharo, while Thath, Zylake, and Throntikus continue
- fighting.
- ● The Party eventually bests Graaf. He warns them of the Crystalline Church and their
- intentions. He tells them of the Church’s plan to resurrect Apolyse, though doesn’t know
- why they’d want to.
- ● He tells them to watch their back, as they might be coming after them.
- ● He dies, and the palace begins to fall apart. Throntikes collects the helmet to prove their
- victory
- ● They escape, and set off for Aerobor to collect the bounty. Behind them, Moiriadevolves
- into chaos
- ● Every night of their travels, the twins assist Sharo in learning how to wield and fight with
- the rapier. The loss of his arm left him unable to wield his broadsword.
- ● They continue on to Aerobor. Silence once again permeates the party.
- ● Camp is set up. Zylake once again makes her chicken. The twins decides to try it, not
- heeding the warnings of the other two. They apparently like it
- ● The party turns in for the night
- ● After the others go to sleep, Thath moves and goes to rest with Sharo
- ● Sharo hears a muffled noise. He gets up, careful not to wake Thath.
- ● Sharo looks around, Zylake is gone.
- ● He follows the noise
- ● Heisledtoatree
- ● Sharo finds Zylake behind it
- ● Her water broke
- ● Sharo gazed into Zylake’s eyes, baffled at the sight before him.
- ● Sharo called for Throntikus. He’d no idea how to deliver a child. He only knows basic
- healing.
- ● Thath come over as well, wanting to see what all the fuss is about, Throntikes following
- suit
- ● The four agree that she needs to be taken to a clinic at once. They grab their things and
- prepare to head off.
- ● The four together lift up Zylake. They make their way to Aerobor.
- ● Zylake continuously snaps at them to hurry up.
- ● After extensive running, The party arrives at Aerobor.
- ● They make their way to the clinic. Zylake is taken inside. She tells the rest to leave them
- be.
- ● The four make their way to the Blinded Drunkard
- ● They collect the one million nent bounty. They split it amongst themselves, setting aside
- 250,000 for Zylake
- ● The whole tavern glares at them, but not in adoration.
- ● They decide to rest and give Zylake her payment come morning
- ● In the cloak of night, a figure makes their way into Sharo and Thath’s room.
- ● A knife is thrown as Sharo. Thath catches it mid-air and throws it back at the perpetrator.
- ● The figure falls to the ground, knife protruding from his head.
- ● Thath unmasks the would-be murderer. It’s one of the regulars of the Blinded Drunkard.
- ● Sharo sees all of this, questioning why Thath never did something like that before.
- ● “Like I said. Only in self-defence.”
- ● Sharo drifts back to sleep while Thath keeps watch. No one else comes in the night.
- ● The four wake up, and quickly make their way to the clinic
- ● Zylake is resting on one of the mattresses. Decades of disease and rot apparent on
- each bed.
- ● She’s found cradling her newborn son. Sharo places her nent on the bed.
- ● Zylake thanks the four for taking her to the clinic, but is still angry about their lack of
- speed.
- ● She decides she is through with adventuring. She plans to use her nent to buy a home
- for her and her son and try and live a simpler life.
- ● The party understands, and make their farewells.
- ● Throntikus casts the same sigil for Zylake that Throntikes did for Sharo during the
- banquet. He tells her to call upon him if anything occurs
- ● Zylake leaves the party.
- ● The four decide to once again take up another bounty.
- ● They go to the bounty board
- ● They find three one million nent bounties
- ● Sharo, Thath, and the twins are dead men walking.
- ● They flee the kingdom and discuss how this happened.
- ● They at first believe it might be due to their pillaging of the royal envoy
- ● They recall what Graaf told them about the Church.
- ● They must have made the bounty, but the group isn’t entirely sure.
- ● They plan to to search for the Church in hope of answers.
- ● Problem is, no one knows where to exactly find them.
- ● Thath suggests that they travel to Moiriaand live on the quiet side before things blow
- over in Aerobor.
- ● They make their way to Moiria.
- ● After an uneventful travel, they enter the kingdom
- ● It most certainly shows signs of ruin. A multitude of buildings have been destroyed, only
- a few standing intact. The majority of buildings have pieces missing.
- ● More importantly to Sharo, Ambrosia has been demolished.
- ● They find a traveling brewery, and order a few pints, though the twins refuses, claiming
- he’s lost his tolerance.
- ● The two ask if they’d any tolerance to begin with
- ● They learn, much to Sharo’s dismay, that the church has taken over Moiria.
- ● They also converted the palace into a place of worship
- ● The other three suggest they stay and watch, while Sharo is hesitant after what
- happened in Aerobor
- ● Thath offers that Sharo wears one of his amulets
- ● The service is quite boring. Thath falls asleep.
- ● Prophet Gertrude makes his appearance, begins his lengthy sermon
- ● Discusses enemies of the faith, drawing attention to Sharo and the party.
- ● Gertrude somehow recognized him even with the amulet
- ● Sharo believes this is due to him persecuting them in his tenure as a knight, but isn’t
- entirely sure. He wakes up Thath.
- ● The attendants surround them. Thath is knocked out by one of them while the rest
- unsheathe their daggers.
- ● The party is forced to flee.
- ● They make their way out of Moiria.
- ● Sharo reawakens Thath
- ● The party plans to travel to the neighboring kingdom of Tritza to lay low until they can
- once again live in Aerobor, conceding that they may never find out who made the
- bounty.
- ● They don the amulets to wear on their travels to avoid being recognized by mercenaries
- and the church
- ● One day, they lose their function, forcing the party to travel uncloaked.
- ● A mercenary group encounters them, battle ensues.
- ● The party defeats them with relative ease.
- ● While they are cleaning up, a shot is heard
- ● A bolt is fired
- ● It whips through the air
- ● A wounded mercenary unaccounted for
- ● Throntikus’ neck runs red. He collapses to the ground
- ● Throntikes follows suit, blood pouring out from a freshly open wound.
- ● The two scramble to save them
- ● Thath uses his cloak to put pressure on Throntikes’ wound. Sharo is left alone, unable to
- save Throntikus.
- ● Throntikes’ wound slows down it’s downpour. Sharo begs Throntikus to do something.
- ● A smile grows across his face
- ● “Thanks for everything”
- ● Life leaves Throntikus’ eyes. Throntikes’ struggles to speak
- ● “Leave me. You do not wish to see what happens next.”
- ● The sigil on his hand begins to glow. Life leaves his eyes.
- ● The two realize that Zylake needs help.
- ● Before they can leave, they need to get Throntikes help
- ● They don Thath’s amulets and go back into Moiria
- ● They find a cleric to heal her
- ● They help alleviate the effects, but they came too late.
- ● Throntikes is stuck in a comatose state, her eyes functional, yet unresponsive.
- ● The cleric offers to keep her in his stay, and will use her to hopefully find a cure for her,
- and Green Eye as a whole.
- ● They reluctantly agree
- ● They say their goodbyes
- ● They once again travel for Aerobor.
- ● They bust in to Zylake’s house. Upturned tables, smashed to bits on the floor. The walls
- bear the marks of a lengthy scuffle. Almost no piece of furniture is left standing.
- ● They search through the abode. Zylake and her son are nowhere to be found
- ● They find a crystal dagger in the crib.
- ● Sharo’s vision goes black.
- ● They awake in a stone dungeon.
- ● They are chained onto marble pillars, surrounded by the Children of the Crystal
- ● Prophet Gertrude appears before the two
- ● He asks the two what their plans were
- ● Thath says they were just passing through, and they would be on their way.
- ● Gertrude’s eyebrows lifted up. “I see”. He seems unimpressed.
- ● Sharo asks what Thath was trying to accomplish. Thath says he panicked.
- ● Gertrude’s eye glow light blue. Sharo begins having convulsions.
- ● “What were you really here for?’
- ● Sharo says they had a bounty on them, and they thought that the Church might have
- created it.
- ● Sharo coughs up blood. He feels disgusted being puppeteered in such a way.
- ● Gertrude recognizes that they must have been the ones who killed Graaf. He concedes that the Church orchestrated both bounties. They say it doesn’t matter anymore, as they have everything they need.
- ● Sharo grows silent, suddenly realizing that they caused the twins to die. He lashes out in anger.
- ● Gertrude’s eyes glow blue again, putting Sharo to sleep.
- ● One of the Children unshackles Thath. Gertrude leads him outside the cell.
- ● Sharo awakens in an unknown location
- ● He is tied with rope on a large rock, sourrounded by the Children.
- ● Before him is the vast ocean, something he’s never seen before.
- ● A sheet of ominous clouds covers the sky, sunlight just barely permeating.
- ● Gertrude stands, looking off into the ocean.
- ● The waves are clashing against the rock filled shore
- ● Gertrude apologizes for causing so much trouble for Sharo. He only wanted him dead.
- ● Sharo asks what he means.
- ● Gertrude explains that he foretold a future in which Sharo would dismantle the
- Crystalline Church. Gertrude wanted him gone so he would not thwart his plans.
- ● Sharo asks why he didn’t just kill him.
- ● Gertrude say it’s because his spy is a pacifist
- ● Thath steps forward
- ● Sharo loses his anger
- ● His hatred
- ● His remorse
- ● He isn’t entirely sure what he’s feeling.
- ● “Why?”
- ● Thath does not answer, instead begins to explain what he did
- ● Thath explains his plot to further the Chruch’s goals.
- ● He says he did what he had to do to weaken Sharo in order to prevent his possible
- victory, and to help them take Moiriaand secure power.
- ● “Did you really think it was a coincidence that you found me as soon as you had your
- leave? Did you really think it was a coincidence that I told you about the bounty board? Did you think it was happenstance that the Church seized Moiria as soon as we were through? Did you really believe the King orchestrated that bounty on us and the twins?
- ● “Did you really think the King had your mother killed?”
- ● Sharo asks what he meant by that, finally lashing out.
- ● Thath said nothing.
- ● Sharo goes numb. The one he loved killed his mother, and betrayed his friends.
- ● Gertrude speaks. “Well that’s quite enough of that. Let’s continue with what we are here
- for.”
- ● Gertrude begins preparations for a ritual.
- ● Sharo asks Thath what they are doing.
- ● Gertrude instead responds “My child, did you not pay attention to that vile Graaf?”
- ● The Six Children make into a diamond formation.
- ● Gertrude stands in the center.
- ● “Bring me the sacrificial sheep and her lamb”
- ● One of the children brings Zylake, tattered and bruised. She is clutching her son.
- ● Sharo tries to scream, but he cannot find his voice.
- ● Gertrude takes off his cloak hood. His head inscribed with dotted patterns interconnected
- with short lines, covering his entirely bald skull.
- ● He holds Zylake by the head and begins chanting an incantation in a language no man
- can comprehend. His ornate markings begin to radiate.
- ● Sharo finally speaks up. “What are you?”
- ● The Children speak to him.
- ● “Our master is the last of his kind”
- ● “His people massacred by an ignorant king”
- ● “His home ravaged”
- ● “His culture devastated”
- ● “But his pantheon lived on.”
- ● “Ever vengeful, they exist to serve those devout.”
- ● “And they know not of the concept of mercy.”
- ● “He lay in waiting for the stars to align, awaiting his moment to take back what was once
- his.”
- ● They speak as one. “He is the Last of the Coracil, inhabitant of the doomed Coricilia.
- Bringer of the end, creator of the new. He shall summon the Daemon Apolyse, and lay
- waste to this wretched plain.”
- ● Gertrude smiles. He performs an incantation. Zylake and her son are lit ablaze.
- ● Their shrieks and wails of suffering penetrate Sharo’s subconscious. He finally breaks
- into hysteric
- ● The fire flickers and turns a shade of blue
- ● Gertrude’s eyes glow blue
- ● The diamond formation has become entranced, each of their eyes glowing a blinding
- color
- ● They turn to the sea.
- ● Gertrude exclaims
- ● “IZI TE CONCUUR EYYUT SAMNEL”
- ● A light is seen in the distance.
- ● A large dome-like expanse hurtling towards the continent.
- ● It expands, further and further, it’s peak touching the sky.
- ● The Children smile.
- ● Sharo looks on with terror.
- ● The light reaches the boulder.
- ● Sharo closes his eyes.
- ● At the last moment, Thath looks away.
- ● He hears Gertrude mutter to himself “And all was right with the world”
- ● He wakes up, his constraints in tatters.
- ● He finds no rock.
- ● He finds no ocean.
- ● No kingdoms off into the horizon.
- ● A vast grey wasteland. Cracked earth whose dust has no wind to lift it.
- ● He finds the robes of the Children. No trace remnants of its owners are to be found.
- ● He sees Thath, alone and on his knees, looking off into what is left of the horizon.
- ● Sharo limps towards him.
- ● He collapses onto him, embracing him in his hour of need.
- ● “Please tell me it’s a dream, for only a mind such as mine could dream up such
- unspeakable suffering. We were supposed to be together. We were to be married. We could live our lives as one, spending nights under the moonlight in each others embrace. Please help me wake up.”
- ● “I’m sorry Sharo, I really am.”
- ● Thath begins to cry.
- ● “izi te concuur eyyut samnel.” He increases in volume” “Izi Te Concuur Eyyut Samnel.”
- He increases in volume “ Izi Te Concuur Eyyut Samnel .” He increases in volume “ Izi Te
- Concuur Eyyut samNEL-.”
- ● Thath’s dagger runs red.
- ● Sharo removes it from his lover’s heart. It drips onto the plain, slowly enveloped by the
- dust.
- ● Thath falls to the ground. He bleeds out on the wasteland.
- ● Sharo stands up
- ● Silence envelops the world.
- ● The clouds begin to part, revealing beams of golden sun.
- ● The ground shakes.
- ● Sharo gazes forth.
- ● Large stone horns rize from below the horizon. Eyes of molten rock drip down it’s
- hardened face, if one could call it that. It rises, its arms eyes gazing forth unto the world it has been summoned to fix. It stands, hunched forth with volcanic crevices adorning its arched spine. It steps forward with legs comparable in size to that of a thousand tree trunks, though is likely larger up close. It smiles with the innocence of a child, yet with the menace of a murderer. Thick, blunt teeth riddle it's gaping maw, never ceasing it’s expression of endless joy through destruction.
- ● Sharo looks to Thath. He bares the container of brew from Bronce
- ● He covers himself with it, the alcohol dripping down his face
- ● He opens Thath’s bag, and reveals the flint and steel.
- ● He strikes the flint
- ● He is lit ablaze
- ● He stumbles forward to Thath’s lifeless body
- ● He collapses and holds him close in his dying moments.
- ● Thath’s body catches fire. They burn in solemn silence.
- ● The flame stops
- ● A mere pile of ash is left, no sign of where one man began and where one ended.
- ● There they sit, untouched, and undisturbed. Eternally locked in each other’s embrace, yet never able to feel the other’s touch. They were unable to live their lives as they wished.
- ● They are truly alone.
