- 12 hour was a lot of fun - my goal was to see how well it worked and in the span of a weekend I went from like a 1:05 and being completely blind to the game in any speedrunning sense to having a high 41 (with probably a minute and a half of wiggle room I can still achieve I think) which I think is super respectable and I'm proud of tbh. This is the first time I had a real go at the 12 hour challenge and it proved to be a really cool and effective way of learning a speedrun - just sit down and do it, and after X amount of time, play what you've learned to see the progress made. It completely bypasses a lot of the typical excuses that prevent me from diving in, is nice 👌
- So with that in mind I think I'll do them again to pursue the other speedgames I want to learn and we'll see how it goes! I plan to nail down SMW time to at *least* a sub 40, after that we'll see. Also this weekend I experimented with the idea of using vacation days to pepper myself a bunch of long weekends throughout the year where there's a dearth of holidays, as I feel I'd appreciate 5 long weekends a *lot* more than one week from work (assuming both are just stay at home, dweeb out vacations), and I think this is definitely the tech. So I think next time I decide to do 12 hour will correspond with another one of these long weekends, it owned.
- speedrunning is alive in 2017, my dudes
