Because no matter all those battle scars on his body, or the cold and the hunger that he`s had to endure... To escape from this life once in a while, to feel that it all means something, this is what makes it worth it to him, and making it last as long as he can, even though he knows there won't be a happy ending, is the best he can hope for.

And to choose between the dog he has loved more than anyone else in his life and the people who saved him from certain death causes Valkim's ideals to conflict.
