  1. Edit: I made a forum http://highwayfrogs.freeforums.net/
  2.
  3. All information here is to help contribute in modding the Windows PC game "Frogger: He's Back!", alternatively known as "Frogger 3D". Aside from the forum above, there is currently NO OTHER place on the internet with the information I'm about to provide.
  4. Yes, this game was also released on the PS1/PSX, hence some traces to be seen later on.
  5.
  6. Anyway, to get started, the files in the main frogpsx.mwd archive can be extracted using QuickBMS and this QuickBMS script: http://aluigi.altervista.org/papers/bms/others/frogger.bms
  7.
  8. There is no known way of playing the game [at this time] with extracted files, so a recompiler will need to be made!
  9.
  10. -----------------------------------
  11. BINARIES Folder (demo files)
  12. -----------------------------------
  13. Contains just .DAT files, all of them being just demo files (demo is an automatic gameplay function (almost like watching a video) that occurs if you leave the menu on for too long).
  14.
  15. DAT File data:
  16. For the X&Y of the tile Frogger spawns on, the X is the 5th byte occurring in the file, and Y the 9th. (I made a video on a modifcation of this which can be found here: https://youtu.be/Mz5Y82_ErwQ)
  17.
  18. Everything following seems to be the actions.
  19.
  20.
  21. -----------------------------------
  22. PACKED Folder (main content)
  23. -----------------------------------
  24. Contains .VLO, .MAP, & .WAD files. For each VLO and WAD file, there are two versions, a regular and a _WIN95 version.
  25.
  26. These are the only files in the game that cannot be rawly edited (via Hex editor) in a unextracted achieve. Recompilation is needed.
  27.
  28.
  29. MAP FILES have the following at the start of every file: FROG followed by 2.00Maybe this time it'll all work fine with one byte set (4 bytes) in between.
  30. MAP files also have the GENE and PATH, consistently appearing in the same spots at the start of every file.
  31. GRID also appears in the file, usually followed shortly after by several character tables.
  32. ANIM sections appears usually closer towards the end of the file.
  33.
  34. The first byte in a WAD FILE is always different, the meaning of this I'm not yet sure. WAD files come in sections, which are defined by FOM (at least that's my interpretation, I'm not a pro reverse engineerer, so...). Some files also use DUMY.
  35.
  36. -----------------------------------
  37. WINMAPS Folder (pallete files)
  38. -----------------------------------
  39. Contains just .PAL files. This folder has subfolders for each theme. These are pallet files that use the Microsoft RIFF file format. These files can already be edited with the pallet editor made for Worms Armageddon/Worms World Party: http://worms2d.info/Worms_PAL_Editor
  40.
  41.
  42. -----------------------------------
  43. WINVAB Folder (audio[?] files)
  44. -----------------------------------
  45. This folder contains only .VB & .VH files. These files are likely audio, as it is the standard format for PSX games, although it may have got changed up a bit when being ported to the PC considering PSounds, a PSX sound extracting tool, can't get anything out of them.
