  4. This world always consisted of two groups of humanoids. Humans, the most prevalent species, and then the Anthros, a group of animal humanoid creatures. From the early onset of the 20th century, these two groups of people intermingled and grew closer together. Despite this, however, there were organizations on each side that hated the other side because they weren't Human/Anthro.
  5.
  6. In June 2017 a nuclear apocalypse ravaged the world. Born from a malfunction in North Korea's power grid, once it was turned back on, it sent ICBMs with nuclear warheads cascading across the seas towards the USA. The world, fearing that the USA would fire back at not just North Korea, but any other country it didn't like, also sent their nuclear weapons at any country that wronged them. Mutually Assured Destruction.
  7.
  8. Many of these North Korea's ICBMs malfunctioned midflight, resulting in what is known as the West Coast Desert. The West Coast Desert is a stretch of land that extends all the way from the Rocky Mountains to the Pacific coastline. Some cities were spared the treatment, such as Flagstaff, but others weren't as fortunate. Los Angeles was completely leveled, Seattle's only building left is the Space Needle, and Portland's suburbs are the only reminder that any city was ever there. The West Coast Desert is also completely cordoned off from the rest of the USA by a wall of radiation. It resembles the Aurora Borealis, and is fifty miles wide at it's widest.
  9.
  10. Most everything east of the Rocky Mountains is the way it was, save for large cities. Larger cities like New York and Washington D.C. were hit hard, but cities smaller than that had an easier time escaping the blast zones.
  11.
  12. Forty years after the bombs dropped, people began showing up out of nowhere. Sometimes one in a blue moon, sometimes dozens in a month. All shared a common situation. They remembered seeing bright lights going through the sky and impacting the ground somewhere nearby to them.
  13.
  14. In 2058, the College, a group of people dedicated to science, sprung up in the remains of a state university somewhere in the midwest. Over the course of it's run, there were many theories about these Passers. Who they are, if they're just suffering from amnesia and delusions, or if they were really from a parallel Earth. A man by the name of Doctor Isaac Wernbaum theorized that when the North Korean power grid went down, they came into contact with a parallel Earth just long enough for their nuclear weapons to be supplanted into the other Earth. He was mocked out of the College and settled somewhere up north where he could help patients with his medical skills.

  19.
  20. Passers are people from a parallel Earth that were struck by this worlds nuclear missiles. One in a million people survived the blasts. Because of the ICBMs from this Earth launching into their world, those that survived were pulled into the other Earth. Due to their exposure to the nuclear weapons and surviving the blast, they are completely immune to radiation.
  21.
  22. At first Passers were thought to be amnesiacs suffering from vivid delusions. When a Passer went through The Wall in 2064, then they were completely reclassified. This gave some credence to their "delusions".

  27.
  28. If you're looking to write into this universe, feel free! I'm completely fine with letting you use the JPT world as a backdrop/background for your story.
  29.
  30. There are a few guidelines though:
  31.
  32. 1. If your character is a passer, they cannot show up into this world unless it's 2057 or later.
  33. 2. If your characer is *NOT* a passer, then you can write as far back as a few years prior to the bombs falling.
  34. 3. Your character is not superhuman. The only thing they are immune to is radiation.
  35.
  36. Have fun writing.
  37.
  38. -Thanks to everyone who read Just Passing Through, to Alfa for being a cool dude, and to everyone that browses /hmofa/. You're all great-
