Soul Ability: Manifest. In his weapon form, he takes the shape of a weapon that he clashes against! For example, if he starts as a broadsword and is used to cut an arrow, he turns into a bow and arrow. If he's then shot and punched out of the sky, he turns into a pair of brass knuckles! This requires a lot of synergy between him and his meister to flow with the different weapon styles he gets! This resets to his default form (see above!) after he goes to bed!

Preferred Partner and Why: Either of the Big Three! Mirio he is seen to have a close relationship with and he's known him since childhood, so they have a foundation for a good working relationship and Mirio has proven himself to be really interested in helping Tamaki stand with more confidence! On the other hand, and since I am definitely not conspiring with anyone in particular, Nejire has a personality that contrasts his, providing a similar chance for him to step into his own! Ideally, both? Both are good. I can't break them up.

Weaknesses: His longstanding and, frankly, crippling anxiety that frequently leads to either despair spirals or general passivity; a deep running inferiority complex; he requires his meister to be close-range and relatively quick on the uptake.

Strengths: Adaptability emphasized over almost everything else; Has a very strong moral compass and will do anything push in that direction; Very loyal to people that show him kindness; Good with kids!; Is very quick on the uptake and a lot smarter than people generally make him out to be- there's a reason he's part of the Big Three!

In-Verse Backstory: The only son of a talented weapon-meister pair, Tamaki had a unique pressure put on him since he was young. He was supposed to be great, effortless, and something that made a name for his family beyond the one that they had. Understandably, the pressure got to him, leading to a restrained kid that was more willing to eat himself alive than actually put himself out in the world. Beyond that, he never quite settled anywhere. His parents were constantly moving, so he never had a chance to make a name for himself beyond in passing.

This changed around puberty, at least in part. He had settled, at the very least, finding a home that was somewhat more permanent. His nature had kind of settled at around this point, both in terms of personality and body. It was around this time where he began practicing in-depth on becoming a weapon, and around the time that he made the more important friends in his career. Despite any reservations he had towards himself, he found a home with the best of the best, making a home for himself in what would later be known as the Big Three. While he had ideals about being important and helping people, these friends were the ones that pushed him to do it.

Even if he feels like he's dragging his team down, he pushes forwards with great ideals in mind. He wants to do the right thing despite the odds, and he's well on his way to doing it. Second star rank and bright out of school, he's coming for whatever uncertain future lays before him- whether either of them want it or not.

Personality Description: Quiet and nonconfrontational. Worries about things that are, ultimately, inconsequential. He tries to make people happy, but stumbles now and again. This is, in part, due to the fact that he never relaxes. He's the type of guy to overthink any social misstep, even if it happened when he was very young. This guy is all about quiet reflection, as tense as he can get, and he's very inquisitive and curious for new experiences, despite that fatal fear of failure. On occasion, he does shove past the fear to make a bold statement, usually towards his moral compass. If there is something important on the line, he'll act without second thought and worry about what happened a long, long time after. He tends to believe the worst of himself and usually thinks that others think the same. He's genuinely surprised that he has any friends at all, or that anyone's willing to put up with him casually. His biggest fear is that he's preventing those he loves from meeting their greatest potential and tends to forget his own role in any team dynamic that he's in.

Headcanons:
-As a weapon, some of his characteristics change based on what he's eaten that day! For example, if he eats squid, there are tentacles engraved in the hilt of his sword, and if he eats chicken, he may have chicken feathers on the shaft of his arrows! As such, he's super worried about becoming a kishin because he eats the eggs. Sure, it might not work like that, but he worries.
-He has two baby sisters that he talks to frequently, but he doesn't usually talk with his parents anymore.
-When he's nervous, he either faces away from a whoever's he's speaking to or fits himself into the tightest possible space he can. Really, it's whichever's most (in)convenient at the time.
-His sleep schedule is naturally kind of fucked up, but he gets worse with periods of high anxiety. He doesn't push himself to the point of passing out on the job so much anymore, but this was a large issue at school and he does work a lot harder than he should.
-He cooks when he can! He's actually very interested in what he can get himself to do as a weapon with different food combinations.
