  1. Q. What is an ESS adapter?
  2.
  3. A. An ESS (Extended Super Slide ) Adapter is a piece of hardware which changes the analogue stick mapping of Wii Virtual console so that it plays as if on a Nintendo 64.
  4. This essentially means a much lower % deadzone which allows greater precision with movement and uses more of the analogue stick. Therefore, more of the controller is ESS position and it is often easier to change between right and left ESS.
  5.
  6. Q. Is this even allowed?
  7.
  8. A. There is nothing on ZeldaSpeedruns.com which specifically bans the ESS adapter, however it is a shady area. Many people consider it cheating and as such runs using it can be looked down on by some.
  9.
  10. Q. What does it look like?
  11.
  12. A. It's a small black box, your GameCube controller plugs into it and the box plugs into the Wii.
  13.
  14. Q. Where did you buy it and how can I get one?
  15.
  16. A. It's not on Amazon if you were wondering. You can PM whyieyesya on http://forums.zeldaspeedruns.com/index.php?action=profile;u=16784 and ask him to make you one.
  17.
  18. Any more questions? Just ask in chat and if it is repeated by enough people it will probably appear here soon.
