• Best run since playing again?
 ~1:22:19(1:22:41)

• What game is this?
Spyro the Dragon/(Spyro 1) (1998) for Playstation 1. If my game on Twitch is set to reignited trilogy, that's a glitch.

• What's a speedrun?
A speedrun is a 'run' through a video game intended to achieve the category requirements within the shortest amount of time, usually with a timer separate from the game, often but not always to games originally with no time-incentive.

• What's a category, or category requirements?
Most games have an ending that can be achieved ~without~ 100%ing the game. You know this. So, two main speedrun categories for most games: Beat the game, which we almost always call any%, and Complete the game, which is usually called 100%, however there was a trend around the PS1 era to make extra percentage beyond 100 attainable, and Spyro 1 happens to go to 120%. That's what I'm running.

• What do you play on? Are emulators acceptable for speedruns?
I play on a Playstation 2 using the original Playstation 1 disc. This is the fastest speedrun-legal option for loading the game using the PS2 Fast Disc Speed option at bootup. I use an original Dual shock 2/(PS2) controller. Yes emulator is accepted to most games' leaderboards, which is where players' times are tracked.

• What do you mean by your title? Classic? Is there a difference between a 'classic' speedrun, and a normal one?
No, there's no difference. It isn't a technical term I'm using. There's actually some irony since isn't another word for classic timeless? And speedruns are all about time. I went with this word because it feels like it can bring me back to my roots somehow. It feels like it can rewind the clock a little bit to a simpler time.

• What's the world record/wr?
For now the world record stands at 1:19:43 by Jordy.

• What's your personal best/pb?
My best is EITHER 1:20:56 or 1:20:57. IDK/IDC, not that important. It was always the same run -- I only have achieved one sub 1:21. It was just retimed and revised on the boards. IIRC, it was originally submitted as :57, retimed to :56, and then retimed again to :57? lol

• The timer on the side? Is it part of the game or something?
We piece together these displays using the streaming software, but they're separate applications.

• When do you split?
If after a level, when the treasure chest counting the total gems makes its descension and disappears off screen
If after a homeworld completion, when Spyro jumps on the balloon basket.
If at the end of the run: fadeout.

Not every player splits the same. We don't have to.

• What is a gold segment?
A new best segment--the best I've done that particular split/segment (or level).

• What is Sum of Best Segments?
This would be the calculated sum of all my best segments, from ALL of my attempts at the speedrun put together; the finish time if only factoring in the 'golds'.. so, it is a theoretical end time. The time at the bottom will never be my PB.

• What's your approach? Has anything changed?
Yes my approach now is to ONLY run against Sum of Best Segments. A bit soul-draining: I get it--we all like to see the green. But I've concluded it will help me most to understand how I'm doing. ALSO, as another something new, I will be 'running back' the top 5 splits farthest away from the bests. (Erm, the bottom 5?) In other words, the 5 levels that went the worst, I will, in between attempts at full speedruns, practice one time through. It doesn't matter how they go. It's just one additional practice runthrough. Then I'll take it from the top again.

The other thing is I will be doing RTA timing. I'm not sorry about it. It's easy enough to convert. It's clunky and inaccurate to try and time first input live. For years I've considered RTA timing to be an improvement. I think the reason we collectively went with first input is it's a lower overall time, which feels nicer for we speedfolk. I'm over it. The conversions, then, for WR and my PB would roughly be 1:20:05 and 1:21:19.

• SRcom ...?
Yes my speedrun.com profile appears to have been compromised. I haven't touched it for a long time. My name was changed, profile picture, name-color. Is that it? IDK/IDC lol. But if the hacker does somethin' brazy, it isn't me. *shrug*

• Will you finally update your routes, strats? Will you do Nestor Skip?
Probably. I'm not in any rush. I can improve my time without learning anything new and w/o NS. Off the top of my head, I'd like to get bike caves down, cliff town route, ..and definitely relearn NS. I may do some practice/learning streams, but again..no rush. Maybe a month or two in to the operation.


PERSONAL FAQ:

• Didn't you go crazy or something? Didn't you quit speedrunning? Aren't you banned or canceled?
Sure. I strayed about as far from 'the path' as you can imagine. I don't really have regrets. I have all kinds of adventures under my belt most people don't dream of. I'm here once again to take the game as seriously as I'm able to, and ready to put the baggage permanently behind me. I'm 33 years old now, so we'll see if I still have the hand-eye coordination it takes to succeed in speedrunning.

• Are you trying to get WR? beat dayo? just make a few dollars?
I'm here to speedrun. That's really about it. As any craft-sharpener might desire, personal improvement is a goal, but I can't force it or guarantee it. I'd love to surprise myself and everyone else and start getting some results. It's been a long, long, LONG time since I believed in myself.

• Drugs content disclosure? Do you get high while playing?
Interestingly, as of August 25, 2026, I am completely sober. And I WILL edit this if that changes. (edit: Sept 17, had caffeine; Sept 22 had some dranks ♥_♥ ) I don't take medications, medicine, or drugs. Cut the weed, the alc, the tobacco, and the caffeine. It's all out. BUT! These substances painted so many moments of my life. I consider my existence to be 'on drugs'. Like...there's no going back. Indefinite hiatus for now.

(On the alternative, maybe that box isn't ticked anymore? Dunno lol)

• Handcam? Will you do facecam?
It's always gonna be handcam while speedrunning. If I do something else other than speedruns, I may reposition the cam accordingly.

• Are you more focused on being a streamer or a speedrunner?
Speedrunner, no doubt about it. I'm not here at all to appeal broadly or please the masses. I'm not here even to be all that friendly or pleasant. If I am, right on. You're more than welcome to communicate amongst yourselves in my chat. With all respect, having a livechat to attend to while doing my work is almost never helpful to my endeavors. Take that as you will. While I appreciate your attention, I don't guarantee to you mine in return.

• What else do you do online? You're..a content creator?
Not really. Unless you use the term very loosely to describe anyone on social media of any kind.
I've been known to author some pretty 'out there' pastebin writings, and I have 3 YouTube accounts. And like 3 deleted ones. Wonder if anyone ever found them all. None of them are worth your time, and at this point I'm basically no longer associating with my YouTube content.
