“It’s awfully dark out there,” Otis said, peering through the big window into the blackness. “How are we going to find the robot?”
“Simple,” Luthor said confidently. “When Superman took Metallo out, his systems were deactivated. But when I reactivate him”—Luthor held up a small remote-control device—“his tracking signal will come back on. The signal will lead us straight to Metallo.”
Luthor squeezed the remote, and a light appeared on a round screen in front of him. Steering the sub, he followed the signal. He also flicked on the sub’s exterior microphone to pick up any sounds in the water. It was quiet—only the low hum of the sub’s powerful engines came over the speakers.
“How much farther?” Otis asked. He was ready for this late-night adventure to be over.
Luthor glanced at the screen. “We’re close. I think we should be able to—”
WHAM! Metallo slammed onto the front window!
