Trading is about making short term gains by buying and selling securities again and again. If successful, short term gains can beat the index making it worth the effort. Short term can mean seconds, minutes, hours, days or weeks (aka, scalping, day trading, or swing trading)

>how it's done
The idea is to make more than you lose over time given a winning percentage using a strategy. While it feels like gambling its more of a probabilities game. Having a process or strategy for why you take a trade is a must otherwise it's a gamble. It can be fully discretionary, semi-automated, or a fully automated algo bot.
