  2.
  3. Its evening up in Fern Valley. Most of the tourists have left the town behind, the locals making up what little clientele linger within these walls. Its sparsely populated. A female sits on the stage, an acoustic guitar in hand, playing singer-songwriter type music. Mo? He's over at the bar, enjoying a bottle of one of the local craft brews down the street.
  4.
  5. The clump of booted feet herald the approach of a blue-collar guy in his early twenties with a scruffy face, old jeans and a flannel shirt. Rawlins gives the interior an appraising, almost appreciative glance and heads towards the bar to pick himself up a drink.
  6.
  7. Mo looks over when a strange face makes his way over to the bar. An eyebrow arches up in curiosity, and he gives the man a once-over, head to toe. Then he flags the bartender down, "First one o' his is on me." Eye go back to Rawlins. "I'm Mo. You lost or just passing through?"
  8.
  9. Rawlins glances over to Mo and raises an eyebrow at the man's gesture of hospitality. "Thanks... and yeah, just passing through." The scruffy-faced guy does his best to avoid direct light in the road house, trying to find that sweet spot where he can enjoy a bit of an edge of a shadowy corner or the like. "Glad I found this place. You wouldn't be able to sell me a bottle of Jack would ya? Gotta pick one up before I head back."
  10.
  11. Another eyebrow arches up at the question. Mo shrugs, "Prolly not supposed to do that sorta thing, but ..." A lazy grin, "Sure, why not." He motions for the bartender to grab a bottle. "You on your way to or from Idyllwyld, or something else?"
  12. Rawlins shrugs, "Just came in out of the big nothing between here and Vegas. Needed to see some actual green again - ya know?" He nods to the man in appreciation for the bottle and digs into his back pocket for his wallet to start counting out bills.
  13.
  14. Mo nods. "I don't spend much time in Vegas, myself. Prefer Laughlin. Riding through the mojave is something else, y'know? You ever been?"
  15.
  16. "Yeah...been through there on my way here. Keepin it moving and stuff. Don't like to settle in any one place," Rawlins explains and lifts the beer to his lips. "Just looking at the desert makes ya thirsty - ya know?" His eyes search the room with a few absent and well-practiced glances to locate possible exits and the general security of the bar before looking over to Mo. "You know anything about the area?"
  17.
  18. Mo nods. "My crew rides between here and there. I hang my hat here, most o' them hang their hat down there outside o' Laughlin." He looks around. "You expecting company, or?"
  19.
  20. "Crew? You riding with some folks?" Rawlins asks and looks around the bar once more to see if he sees anyone wearing gang colors. "Just keepin my eyes open bro. I know how things can get in places like this. Don't want to get my ass handed to me cause I'm flying solo these days."
  21.
  22. Mo nods, "I got some pals. Azure Dragons MC. But things up this way stay pretty low-key, y'know? Outta the way and all that. You keep onna move, or have a spot somewheres?"
  23.
  24. Rawlins explains that he's mostly just keeping the wheels running until he finds a spot that's safe...enough. He doesn't really explain from whom or from what but he does seem to recognize the name of the MC. "I think I ran into a few of your bros down in Prospect at a biker bar."
  25.
  26. Mo nods and smiles. "Yeah. Not everyone digs the quiet low-key vibe up this way. Most o' my crew like the city life down that way."
  27.
  28. Rawlins nods and shrugs a bit, "I could use a bit of low-key about now. Vegas is fuggin IN-TENSE." He continues to bring the bottle of beer up to his lips but it doesn't seem to be drank in any great hurry - he's probably just savoring the taste since it was free. "But...still kinda looking for places to settle."
  29.
  30. Mo nods. "Yeah, I used to be all about that life til I found my spot up here. Lemme know if I can be helpful at all - keep an eye out for anything in particular, that sorta thing."
  31.
  32. "Well..." Rawlins starts to ask, "What's the vibe up here? I saw a lot of cabins and resorts and stuff. Looks like a country version of a retirement village." He doesn't seem to have a problem with that - just seems uncertain if there's something under the surface.
  33.
  34. Mo shrugs, "Just regular hard working folks, making a living offa the artiocrats up in Idyllwyld, and the tourists that sometimes roll through on their way to Idyllwyld. Its not a bad spot to get away from things and keep a low profile. But you should also check out Laughlin - I can make some introductions for you down that way if you wanted."
  35.
  36. Rawlins hrms and looks at Mo curiously, "Introductions?" Yeah - there's more than a subtle bit of curiosity in his voice.
  37.
  38. Mo nods. "I know where to connect with folks who know folks there, yeah. Its pretty low-key too, but in a diff way than here."
  39.
  40. Rawlins nods, "Sure...sounds cool. Maybe we'd run into the same kind of people." His phone beeps and he pulls it out from his back pocket with a quick word to Mo to pause their discussion. "Heh. Gotta go. Old Man's wanting his Jack..."
  41.
  42. Mo nods. "Take it easy, man. And lemme know when you want the hook up in Laughlin."
