- Crushes: The first step to enlightenment is casting off the desires of the flesh.
- Strengths: Level's greatest strength is his purity of heart. He is, in a word, uncorruptable. He is a shining beacon of peace and tranquility wherever he goes. Because of this, Chao flock to him, and he can sense the nearest Chao Garden at any time. Evil influences run in terror from his goodwill to all things. In seeking perfection of the mind and spirit, he has also sought strength of the body- his balance is impeccable, he's extremely agile, and his strength is enough to give Big a run for his money.
- Weaknesses: Level, being a sloth, takes it slow and steady. He's also an extreme pacifist, and it takes a lot to get him to fight outside of self-defense.
- History: Level the Sloth is a wandering monk, in self-imposed exile from the mountaintop monastery where he was born. Twenty years ago, a whiny child from the nearby village broke into the temple. Two grown men she had an unrequited crush on had told her that the were not, in fact, attracted to her- physically or romantically. They suggested waiting until she matured a bit, or found someone her own age. Taking this as a rejection from those who had once loved her (however erroneous that sentiment was), the child decided she would become evil. Being too cowardly to attack something that could defend itself, but too stubborn and whiny to grow up and admit she was wrong, the girl made her way to the Chao Garden the temple was built around, hoping to prove her evilness and make the men regret abandoning their love for her by killing Chao.
- Level, however, slept in the Chao Garden in case the temple's little friends needed anything in the night. And he asked the girl why she was there. Telling a tale of forbidden love abandoned and how it drove her to evil, Level pointed out that both the men were happily married and three times her age. The girl replied that age didn't matter and proceeded to make a lunge for a Chao... before Level caught her by the scruff of her neck and sat on her. Though he tried to reason with her for three days, not eating or sleeping the whole time, and getting help from the other monks, the girl was insistent that once he rose she'd slaughter everyone in the temple, all the chao, and everyone in the village to make the men regret what they'd done. Seeing that the girl's madness barred her way to redemption, Level sighed. Grabbing her by the scruff of her neck once again, he picked her up off the ground and stood, making a massive windup. Tears in his eyes, he apologized for what he was about to do... and flung her from the mountaintop. Searchers found her broken body at the foot of the mountain, having died on impact. But Level had still taken a life.
- Though even the head monk said that the killing was justified, and that Level had done a great service to the chao and townspeople, he was inconsolable. He left the monastery, vowing to walk the world and make amends for taking the life of a child- even that of an insane murderous 14 year old.
