  1. (3:29:43 PM) ***conscientiousAristocrat has connected to the sidememo
  2. (3:29:45 PM) conscientiousAristocrat: Well then.
  3. (3:31:00 PM) tenaciousTheseus: Hello
  4. (3:31:55 PM) stanzicApparati: So. Context.
  5. (3:33:42 PM) stanzicApparati: Cassie - the former session leader - is a native V k . She BT'd near the end of her first session, wiping her memory of...nearly the whole thing. She has some notes, but significant portions of those are oi d out as well.
  6. (3:34:07 PM) stanzicApparati: What she /does/ remember is...problematic. She recalls waking early. Earlier than most Space players.
  7. (3:34:18 PM) stanzicApparati: And she had no Guardian in the waking world.
  8. (3:35:19 PM) conscientiousAristocrat: An abberation of the Game's normal sequence with rather tragic consequences, I infer.
  9. (3:35:26 PM) stanzicApparati: Indeed.
  10. (3:35:47 PM) stanzicApparati: The Midnight Crew are...mm. Not what one would choose, even in dire circumstances, for Guardians.
  11. (3:35:49 PM) stanzicApparati: Nor is the Black Queen.
  12. (3:36:37 PM) stanzicApparati: Carapaces in general aren't ideal for raising Players, actually.
  13. (3:37:05 PM) conscientiousAristocrat: There is a great deal one may learn from them. Kindness is not such a virtue.
  14. (3:37:52 PM) stanzicApparati: It isn't. And their coping mechanisms do not translate well, for humans or trolls.
  15. (3:38:31 PM) conscientiousAristocrat: So you lay responsibility for her actions with her upbringing?
  16. (3:39:00 PM) tenaciousTheseus: At least partially
  17. (3:39:10 PM) stanzicApparati: Partially, yes.
  18. (3:39:27 PM) tenaciousTheseus: Being raised by Jack Noir would plausibly make one reach for a knife earlier
  19. (3:40:05 PM) stanzicApparati: Being raised by the Black Queen would...mm. Well, let's leave it at "she does not treat her subordinates well" and that makes Cassie less than ideal as a session leader right now.
  20. (3:40:17 PM) tenaciousTheseus: Hence "former"
  21. (3:42:35 PM) stanzicApparati: So, we're reteaching her how to express emotions and how to recognize them in others, and we'll be teaching her better coping mechanisms and when it's appropriate to use them.
  22. (3:43:37 PM) conscientiousAristocrat: Barring, of course, the fact that 'session leader' is a condition variously-recognized by the game in stat calculation and assignment, and that her bonus to persuasiveness cannot be revoked, merely her social legitimacy.
  23. (3:44:05 PM) tenaciousTheseus: Well, yes
  24. (3:44:06 PM) conscientiousAristocrat: She must be someone very important to you, to be worth such a difficult task.
  25. (3:45:28 PM) ***tenaciousTheseus set status: Away!
  26. (3:45:35 PM) stanzicApparati: Yes.
  27. (3:47:56 PM) conscientiousAristocrat: A former co-player?
  28. (3:48:19 PM) stanzicApparati: No. I've yet to play with her, actually.
  29. (3:49:20 PM) conscientiousAristocrat: How did you become close?
  30. (3:52:51 PM) stanzicApparati: I talked with her on the memo over a while, and helped her with some things. And she helped in return, by sharing her cooking on the memo and in the bubbles.
  31. (3:55:38 PM) conscientiousAristocrat: What's her handle?
  32. (3:56:58 PM) stanzicApparati: tenebrousPsycher
  33. (3:57:52 PM) conscientiousAristocrat: Ahh. The name is faintly familiar.
  34. (3:59:35 PM) stanzicApparati: She lurks on the memo sometimes.
  35. (3:59:49 PM) stanzicApparati: I don't know if she frequents gaming forums or not.
  36. (3:59:54 PM) conscientiousAristocrat: Less often, I would assume with Fenrir minding her.
  37. (4:01:22 PM) stanzicApparati: He was keeping her from her computer for a while, yes.
  38. (4:01:28 PM) stanzicApparati: Until her psybuffs wore off, I think.
  39. (4:07:12 PM) conscientiousAristocrat: Interesting.
  40. (4:09:31 PM) ***tenaciousTheseus began responding to the side memo
  41. (4:09:38 PM) stanzicApparati: Welcome back, Adam.
  42. (4:09:39 PM) conscientiousAristocrat: Welcome back.
  43. (4:10:18 PM) tenaciousTheseus: Thanks
  44. (4:10:21 PM) tenaciousTheseus: What did I miss?
  45. (4:10:36 PM) stanzicApparati: One second, I'll get you the log.
  46. (4:11:22 PM) ***stanzicApparati is sending file "context log.txt" to tenaciousTheseus!
  47. (4:12:01 PM) ***tenaciousTheseus downloads file
  48. (4:12:03 PM) tenaciousTheseus: Thanks
  49. (4:12:29 PM) stanzicApparati: Not a problem.
  50. (4:15:01 PM) conscientiousAristocrat: Was tenebrousPsycher -- Cassie -- a co-player of yours, Adam?
  51. (4:15:46 PM) tenaciousTheseus: No
  52. (4:15:51 PM) tenaciousTheseus: I haven't yet played with her
  53. (4:15:54 PM) tenaciousTheseus: She's my girlfriend
  54. (4:16:02 PM) tenaciousTheseus: We met on the memo
  55. (4:16:27 PM) conscientiousAristocrat: Congratulations. How long have you been together? How long have you known her?
  56. (4:16:52 PM) tenaciousTheseus: I've known her for...
  57. (4:17:24 PM) tenaciousTheseus: A little over two years?
  58. (4:17:29 PM) tenaciousTheseus: Shit, has it been that long?
  59. (4:17:51 PM) tenaciousTheseus: And we've been together for a little less than two years
  60. (4:19:28 PM) conscientiousAristocrat: Time has a way of slipping past us without notice, doesn't it?
  61. (4:19:43 PM) tenaciousTheseus: Yeah, it does
  62. (4:21:19 PM) conscientiousAristocrat: You're one of the more veteran members of this community, if I recall?
  63. (4:21:26 PM) tenaciousTheseus: I am
  64. (4:21:39 PM) tenaciousTheseus: I'm on my eighteenth session
  65. (4:25:54 PM) Muss [[email protected]] entered the room.
  66. (4:31:04 PM) conscientiousAristocrat: Congratulations.
  67. (4:32:16 PM) tenaciousTheseus: Thanks
  68. (4:32:46 PM) conscientiousAristocrat: To what do you credit your success and survival?
  69. (4:33:43 PM) tenaciousTheseus: Mainly sheer stubbornness and a not-insignificant amount of dumb luck
  70. (4:34:47 PM) stanzicApparati: Don't forget being ridiculously lethal.
  71. (4:35:17 PM) tenaciousTheseus: That too
  72. (4:35:55 PM) conscientiousAristocrat: Ah?
  73. (4:37:16 PM) tenaciousTheseus: Well, I tend to focus on improving my combat skills, when I can
  74. (4:37:38 PM) tenaciousTheseus: That, and eleven or so years, means that I'm pretty good, if I do say so myself
  75. (5:20:54 PM) conscientiousAristocrat: You would have an impressive mastery, at this point.
  76. (5:20:54 PM) conscientiousAristocrat: Was she in a session with one of the known Azurites that died?
  77. (5:21:08 PM) conscientiousAristocrat: I cannot recall the name, Ribbit is down.
  78. (5:28:26 PM) stanzicApparati: She was, yes.
  79. (5:29:38 PM) conscientiousAristocrat: Do you know the full story there? I'm curious.
  80. (5:33:44 PM) stanzicApparati: I'm not sure if I know the /full/ story.
  81. (5:35:34 PM) stanzicApparati: But what I know is, Cassie and Rigel - their Time player - and several others in that session were aware of what the Azurite was.
  82. (5:36:11 PM) stanzicApparati: But circumstances required them to bide their time. First, because Cassie is the Witch of Rhyme - so it benefits her to act slowly. And second, because Cassie's consorts are Erineyes.
  83. (5:38:13 PM) stanzicApparati: And the session 'story' is based on a comic book that Cassie thought was safe to toss into the sprite. The coplayers are all counted as 'family' - and the Erineyes react /badly/ to family killing each other.
  84. (5:39:54 PM) stanzicApparati: Cassie ended up baiting the Azurite into attacking her, and Rigel dealt with things from there. Cassie tiered as a result.
  85. (5:41:07 PM) conscientiousAristocrat: And Rigel's actions were acceptable, because to the Erinyes, transgressive action had already been taken? I see.
  86. (5:41:29 PM) stanzicApparati: Yes.
  87. (5:41:48 PM) stanzicApparati: He was simply acting to deal out the consequences for that transgressive action.
  88. (5:45:44 PM) conscientiousAristocrat: But it was the scheme of Cassie Deadeye and Rigel that led to weirdLove's end.
  89. (5:49:58 PM) conscientiousAristocrat: Correct? Is that your understanding, from her?
  90. (5:54:03 PM) stanzicApparati: From my understanding, the hope was that they would manage to get through the session without needing to do anything. Or that weirdLove would make the first move.
  91. (5:54:19 PM) stanzicApparati: What happened was not how Cassie or Rigel had planned.
  92. (6:00:06 PM) conscientiousAristocrat: What went wrong?
  93. (6:02:25 PM) stanzicApparati: I'm not sure. But my suspicion is, Cassie became impatient when weirdLove didn't make any moves.
  94. (6:37:12 PM) conscientiousAristocrat: Well, she did roll Rhyme.
  95. (6:38:31 PM) stanzicApparati: She did, yes.
  96. (6:41:22 PM) conscientiousAristocrat: So her impatience, then, led to the Azurite's early and unplanned demise. How ironic.
  97. (6:43:24 PM) stanzicApparati: Rather opposite to what Rhyme requires, yes.
  98. (6:53:16 PM) conscientiousAristocrat: Thank you for this, Zeimah.
  99. (6:56:40 PM) stanzicApparati: I'm glad that I could help, Tobias.
  100. (6:57:41 PM) stanzicApparati: If you would like, we could arrange a time to play a board game together?
  101. (6:58:04 PM) conscientiousAristocrat: Mm. I'll consider it.
  102. (6:57:45 PM) conscientiousAristocrat: I wish you the very best in your session. There's a concern about enormous, Ring-Corrupted behemoths stalking the Land of your Space player?
  103. (6:58:49 PM) stanzicApparati: That's...definitely a thing which is happening, yes.
  104. (6:59:22 PM) stanzicApparati: We're all working on fixing it.
  105. (7:06:27 PM) stanzicApparati: I wish you the best of luck with your session, as well.
  106. (7:17:07 PM) ***conscientiousAristocrat has left the sidememo
  107. (7:17:21 PM) ***stanzicApparati has closed the side-memo!
  108. (7:17:26 PM) coyoteHourglass left the room.
