- Today was a horrible day at work, so I grabbed some Maccas and went to my parents house to stay the night. They live in a tiny culd-a-sac, and as I pulled in I saw a dog on my neighbours lawn. He was a big boofer, a golden retriever, and looked like he had an injured foot. This beautiful doggo was an old boy, looked like he was going blind, and was barking quietly.
- My heart broke. It definitely wasn't the neighbours dog, because they didn't own one. I went inside, abandoned my Maccas, and grabbed some dog food. The vet was just around the corner, so I lured him to my car with the food, helped him into the boot (his old age made it difficult for him), and dropped him off to the vet.
- The veterinarians were absolutely lovely! They took him inside, I did some paper work, and they took my number so they could update me if they found the owner. I cried on the way home, hoping that he would find his hooman. Once I got home, I posted a picture of the doggo on the local facebook page saying he was now at the vet.
- Well... I fucked up pretty badly. Turns out I wasn't being a good samaritan - just a complete nuisance.
- My neighbour saw my Facebook post and sent me a message. It turns out they are stuck in a country town thanks to COVID-19 and can't get back home. The dog is the house sitters.
- I kidnapped somebody's dog thinking I was hot shit for doing some good in this world. I am so so so embarrassed! I can't stop picturing this house sitters coming back outside to get their dog only to realise it was stolen! I'm thinking I'm going to have to leave a note and some chocolates or something for them in apology. I have now deleted the facebook post.
- Tl;dr: I found an old doggo on a neighbours front lawn that I didn't recognise, took him to the vet thinking I'm a good person. I then found out I in fact kidnapped him and I am actually a terrible person.
