A demon screamed . She took one last look back down the approach , saw a demon impaled on the spikes of a tree - branch trap , saw a second demon rushing past . The second demon caught the last refugee in the column . A reach , a grab , a stifled scream , and the demon took off in the other direction , a doomed woman in its black hands .

She looked back in time to see a demon trigger one of the traps just as it grabbed a terrified man — a boulder smashed down , crushing them both .
