The theory that each degree of the zodiac has a different meaning has been existed for hundreds of years. Given below are the interpretations of each zodiac degree according to 11 different sources. You can compare the interpretations according to different authors, and decide for yourself which interpretations are the most accurate and useful.

Some of the interpretations were derived through extensive research, some through intuition, and some through a combination of research and astrological theory. An example of astrological theory applied to degree meanings are the interpretations given by David Cochrane, who theorizes that the 12th harmonic signs and the 30th harmonic signs and their relative house and relative sign positions create the basic meaning of the zodiac degree. The codes at the end of his interpretation indicate these values, so, for example, "(SCO-10-VIR, LIB-9-LEO)" means that the 12th harmonic sign is Scorpio, its relative house position is 10, relative sign position is Virgo. The 30th harmonic sign is Libra and its relative house position is 9 and its relative sign position is Leo. This theory is explained in detail in his book.

Note also that for the following zodiac degrees of any zodiac sign, Cochrane assigns a different interpretation to each half of the degree: 2-3, 7-8, 12-13, 17-18, 22-23, and 27-28.  All other authors always asssign one interpretation to each degree.

Symbol: An artificial globe.

This denotes one who will travel; a student; and one who may make many discoveries.
La Volasfera (Sun):

Symbol: A lightning flash.

It indicates a person of extreme nervous energy and force of character, who, by reason of his executive abil1ty and great fund of energy, will take a leading part in the affairs of his community. The native of this sign will, among other things, be a great reformer. He will clear doubts as lightning rends the clouds, and will, while overturning much of existing belief, become a source of Illumination to many.  It is a degree of PIONEERING.

Matthews (Sun):

Symbol:  “HONESTY AND DISHONESTY” (afflictions may denote scheming and dishonesty.)

A person of great energy and a student of humanity. Sometimes a touch of melancholy.

Carelli (Sun):

An apparently contradictory influence, as it seems to beget on one hand people in whose veins water runs instead of blood, and on the other, the sturdy leaders of the human herd.

The key to this riddle is to be sought in this degree’s feature of extreme jumpiness; whatever amount of energy has fallen to the native’s share, it will be of an entirely nervous character, and will lead him on by leaps and bounds. Therefore, a close study is to be made of the planets ruling the nerves (Mercury, Uranus and Lilith) in connection with the ones ruling will power (Sun, Mars and Pluto).

Whether the character is weak or strong, there is no room for prejudice or superstition. The intelligence is deep, lively, original, though discontinuous; there is great executive ability and a high education. If favorably aspected, the native might become an explorer, a pioneer, a political or religious reformer, never an impassive or a phlegmatic being. Provided that Jupiter does not stop him, he will go very far.

Kozminsky (Sun):

A band of merchants on camels traveling through the wilderness.

Denotes a lover of traveling whose leanings are towards a nomadic life. He is, however, keenly alive to the necessity of material work, and he traffics in stuffs the sale of which is not confined to any one district or country. He will accumulate by or through merchandise, exporting and importing, or through things of universal demand. Sometimes indiscreet, sometimes hasty, the native is always self-possessed. It is a symbol of Exchanging.

Muir (Sun):

A traveler who should introduce nation to nation through its industries.  He is self-possessed, versatile and a student of human nature.

Leinbach (Sun):

This degree in the Scorpio dec. of Cancer partakes greatly of those qualities. There is inexhaustible courage and strength with the backing of tremendous capacities. The intelligence is far beyond normal. The native squares his facts as he goes along checking everything out almost automatically, as though he had the mind of a computer. Perhaps this is the key to his success. If our minds were cleared of the misinformation we hold for emotional reasons we would all think more logically. This native does not suffer from lack of those emotional qualities -soften the hard logic of science. Most of the natives of this degree attract problems in keeping with their abilities and find that they must make use of all the ability they have to hold their own in what they find to be a hostile world. They seem to hold to a moral standard of chivalry and seldom if ever yield to the unfair treachery with which they meet. You can be sure that these natives will win out over the battles of life. There may be a softness about them to cause their opponents to misjudge their overall strength. But in true Scorpio fashion this native is not to be cut down. If and when he goes he is sure to take his opponent with him. He is vulnerable only when he slips from his infallible plumb line of conscience by which he judges right from wrong within himself. If he slips from his own moral code he, like Samson, will go down with his opponent; still, he does not go down alone.

Weber (Sun):

Suffers from the self-destructive, ambitious marks of Aries and Scorpio, both ruled by Mars, and contrary to Cancer’s beneficial influences. If the negative influences is softened by time, experiences, or other factors shown in the horoscope, it can gain strength and fit better into the world. May find a place as an explorer, researcher, pioneer, or in religious sciences - anywhere perseverance, enthusiasm and “will” may be exercised. Nervous temperament, suspicious, jealous, harsh, ready to retaliate. Love may be rocky and vocational enterprises ready to fail, but hopefully, age and experience will strengthen it.

Henson (Sun):

Business; degree of duty; a person of great energy; a student of humanity; sometimes a touch of melancholy; affliction may denote scheming and dishonesty; opening of pancreas.

Cochrane (Sun):

Symbol: A burly man with an apron before him.

This degree governs work connected with catering for the public. It will answer for the manager of a restaurant, an inn-keeper, or a butcher.

La Volasfera (Moon):

Symbol: A man standing upon a mountain with a staff in his hand.  The setting sun shows his figure in relief.

It indicates a person of aspiring tendencies, fond of adventure and doing hardy things.  In some respects a unique character and, may be, a striking personality.  One who, by some effort of his own, will attract attention in the latter years of his life, not by any learning or invention, but by prowess or the use of his  natural powers.  The native may show a strong tendency to mountaineering or to geographical discovery, and will be a great pedestrian.  He will be in great danger during the middle of his career, and will eventually triumph over obstacles, and avoiding dangers will terminate his life extremely well.  It is a degree of ELEVATION.

Matthews (Moon):

Symbol: “FORETHOUGHT AND EXPECTANCY”

A unique character, a striking personality fond of adventure and doing hardy things. Benefits through enterprise and dealings with the public.

Carelli (Moon):

An inborn drive to rise higher and higher, to step aside from the beaten track and to follow new, untried paths. Other pointers have to show whether this impulsiveness will stray into fitful unbridledness, rudeness or brutality, or open its way upward into selfless dedication to an idea. The need to soar may be taken in a literal (mountaineering, aviation), financial or spiritual sense.

In any case, the danger of tumbling on the way is attendant upon this degree, as well as a manly daring and the chance of overcoming all obstacles at the end of’ the road, thus victoriously winding up the climb to the peak of glory or, in an humbler way, the scaling of a still untrodden mountain top.

The whole of the pattern will give a clue to the particular case. Anyway, the native is no common being, as he seems to dispose of always fresh energies and exceptional gifts; but he is unsteady and, at times, too rash. Great is his love of nature, irresistible his need to wander and open up unexplored territories.

In a humble horoscope, he will be an alpine guide; when the necessary scientific features are present, he might become a great explorer. According to seer Charubel, this degree rules over work connected with catering for the public and produces innkeepers, managers of restaurants, or butchers; which I am quoting here under his responsibility. I personally think that an uncommon gift of gab has fallen to the native’s share, enabling him to shine as a teacher.

Kozminsky (Moon):

Symbol: Fishermen pulling in their nets in calm weather.

Denotes one whose business in life is uncertain in its results, but who can calmly go on, contented to take whatever fate sends his way. He is gifted with mediumistic power and his impressions enable him to make but few mistakes in his affairs. It is a symbol of Peacefulness.

Muir (Moon):

Very impressionable, peace-loving, generous. Successful when he ventures alone.

Leinbach (Moon):

Saturn’s N Node has occupied this degree since about 1945. The degree itself is very soft and undirected and the Node here seems to result in striking fear into the hearts of these natives. What Saturn is attempting to teach here is “nothing ventured, nothing gained.” However the message which seems to be coming through these people is “better not to try than to try and fail.” In a very strong chart we may see some evidence of the benefit to be gained here. However, this degree of itself seems not to grant the strength to cope with Saturn’s influence. Most of these natives are afraid to venture away from home and mother. He will follow the direction of someone else and then complain that it was not his idea in the first place; not that he had an idea to start with anyway. He will not test his own judgment unless it is a sink or swim situation. The longer he waits to take a step on his own the more fearful and panicky he becomes. In the meantime he finds fault with everything that goes on around him and generally makes life miserable for those forced to be around him. In extreme cases he will sap the vitality of others, by wearing them down or in a more psychic sense by absorbing what the Indian mystics refer to as “prana” or “life force.”

Weber (Moon):

Most Aquarian degree of Cancer - high ideals and desires, often finds way into scientific fields. Original thinker capable of new, practical ideas and criticisms, also the ability to unselfishly see them become realities. Must develop a “life’s path” or risk being a wanderer or victim of the times. Interest in metaphysics; good for astrology. Makes a good explorer, companion or guide in natural or spiritual pursuits. Lavishes its Cancerian gifts on the public - possibly as  a teacher, nutritionist, inspector, or expeditor in the food industry or mass media.

Henson (Moon):

A gift of healing; art medical fields; music; astrologers (cherishes the old); a striking personality; benefits through enterprise and dealing with the public; fond of adventure and doing hardy things; connected with poisons; the art of self-defense; subtle, crafty, rash, cruel; if rising; eye weakness, sometimes blindness; injuries to face; wounds or imprisonment; culminating; honor and preferment followed by disgrace; well aspected; expectations are often fulfilled; a unique character; gastric blood vessels.

Cochrane (Moon):

Energetic, enterprising, aspiring. Self-reliant, individualistic, perhaps egotistical. Radiates an inner sense of nobility. (CAP-7-ARI, LEO-2-SCO)

Symbol: An execution.

I would warn the native to be very careful as to the company he associates with, as he may have to suffer for what another may have done.

La Volasfera (Mercury):

Symbol: A wolf following a sheep along a secluded pathway.

It signifies a crafty nature, capable of intrigue and deception; one who will form associations with a design of ultimate conquest. A seductive nature, living at the risk of others happiness. A man of considerable powers of persuasion, but not to be trusted. It Is a degree of DECEPTION.

Matthews (Mercury):

Symbol: “EMULATION”

Imitation, affection and emulation. Sometimes hypocrisy if afflicted. Talented and more fixed in purpose than most of the Gemini degrees. With the exception of writers and teachers we find fewer famous people with planets in Gemini than in any other sign. (Between 1888 and 1902 both Neptune and Mars were in Gemini which gives that sign a slight ‘edge for those years.)

Carelli (Mercury):

Symbol: The cow, the goat, and the ewe in society with the lion

As in the previous degree, this one also can make the native into a fond and efficient hunter, but the point lies elsewhere and can be summarized in the expression, a lion’s share.

It will have to be left to the horoscope as a whole to decide if the native himself or other partners will have that share; and whether he is endowed with a deceiving, cunning nature apt to rob others of their luck, or is forced by circumstances to pay for one of the partners’ misdeeds; but in either of these two hypotheses, each containing a double question, the former item does not on principle exclude the latter. The native undoubtedly has formidable persuasive or seductive powers, a strong character, a hard worker’s temper, and can weave and unravel plots. However, destiny will disappoint him in the end.

Kozminsky (Mercury):

Symbol: A maiden bound to a stake smiling at an angel. Near-by lie three dead bats.

Denotes one who is forced by fate to meet many obstacles, dangers, and deceptions, and whose scope of action is limited and held within bounds. The life is a peculiar one, full of threatenings, dangers, strange feelings, incidents, and uncommon action. It is a symbol of Stumbling.

Muir (Mercury):

One who believes in work as the solution to many problems.  He faces many dangers but with his goal ever before him works serenely on.

Leinbach (Mercury):

This degree makes one capable of cruelty. This degree has a cusp influence between Gemini and Cancer. This is perhaps one of the hardest cusps to bridge. 29 degrees of any sign is difficult. Its most positive influence contributes writing ability. And it gives many experiences about which to write. The more difficult the problems life hands you the more potential there is if you succeed. Therefore, some of these natives manage to rise very high in the scale of life. When they do so you can be sure it is because of what they have had to overcome. This degree does provide a sophisticated mental ability coupled with a fruitful growing power. A difficult horse to tame but very capable when controlled.

Weber (Mercury):

Last Gemini Degree is influenced by Cancer and Scorpio, suggests a cunning deceiving charming nature. Faithful spouse and dominating parent. Often, influence or power over others, and like the 28-29th degree, this one must also use power carefully or risk attracting trouble like a magnet. Hard worker and student of human nature - competitive and possibly clairvoyant. Must avoid dangerous people and circumstances.

Henson (Mercury):

Astrology writers; actors; entertainers; aptitude for studying human nature; imitators; affection and emulation; if afflicted, hypocrisy sometimes; clairvoyance; ruin, disgrace, impulsive but positive; angina pectoris; fifth rib.

Cochrane (Mercury):

Particular, precise, conservative. Appreciates fine art. Sometimes critical and fussy. (PIS-10-TAU, VIR-4-SCO)



                              Venus

This person will do well by dealing with what lies deep in the earth. Let him, or her, never travel or move about, but ever remain at, or near, the place of his birth all his days.

La Volasfera (Venus):

Symbol: Two hands linked in a close grip of friendship.

It denotes a person of a very amiable and sociable nature, filled with concord and goodwill towards his fellows. A rich, unselfish nature, ca a e of those little greatnesses in daily life which make a man beloved, if not remarkable. It is probable that the native will be instrumental in forming some large associations for social cooperation, or intellectual improvement. The native is essentially constructive, harmonizing and humane. It is a degree of SUSTAINING.

Matthews (Venus):

Symbol: “CO-OPERATIVE”

Although physically active these people live a great deal of their lives mentally. They want the world to co-operate with them. Great readers on all subjects. They exercise tact and discrimination in the ordinary affairs of life. No matter how much money they make there is always need for more. They dream many dreams and sometimes gain fame or money by pushing their ideas.

Carelli (Venus):

Symbol: Two friends shaking hands.

Natives exhibiting the marks of industriousness elsewhere in their pattern may only profit from this influence. It will make them into honest, fair, humane people whom everyone will find attractive and easy to deal with. They will promote-or contribute to-the setting up of cooperatives, cultural societies, social foundations, etc.

Should the horoscope lack any indication of useful work besides enjoyable pastimes, the native’s gifts for efficiency and thoroughness would find no expression and would waste away in idle chatter and futile social events.

Those who look at human and personal ambition as a desirable gift would be disappointed by its conspicuous absence here, as the subject’s only ambition lies in furthering human cooperation, in promoting or supporting collective work and spreading harmony around himself. Therefore, in the absence of any marks of financial luck, this idealist might bring about his own ruin.

The seer Charubel discourages travel; according to him the native’s luck might be bound to what the Earth’s bosom yields, be it mineral ore or archaeological remains. As above, I leave to him the responsibility for these statements.

Kozminsky (Venus):

Symbol: A stream of oil falling from mid-air upon the troubled waters beneath.

Denotes one who will exercise discrimination in the affairs of daily life; one who will possess tact, understanding, and diplomacy, and a peculiar magnetic aura which enables him to bring quarrelling units to a peaceful union. It is a symbol of Conciliation.

Muir (Venus):

A true peacemaker. A diplomat. Fortunate home surroundings.

Leinbach (Venus):

This degree lacks patience. The native is very energetic but expects immediate results. His action may bring immediate results in the form of what is now being termed “instant karma.” Much of what this native does bounces back on him sometimes before he knows what is happening. If he is able to interpret the immediate results he brings on himself he may learn to true-up h action. He may, however, quite as easily fail to interpret properly and simply end up angry and confused. Much his action is destructive for one reason or another unless and until he gains some experience with the immediate consequences he brings on himself.

Weber (Venus):

Mighty Taurus allows fairness, honesty, attractiveness. A beautiful, prideful, robust character - loves nature, animals, children and pleasant art forms. Great powers of perception. An active, sharp intellect; an exact or accurate observer of men and things. He would make a good detective; a practical mind: no mere theorizer.

La Volasfera (Mars):

Symbol: A man dressed like a Minister of. State, of venerable and kindly aspect.

This degree will produce a person of kind and noble disposition; one who wilt occupy positions of trust, and, by his own merits, rise to eminence in his own sphere of work. It is a degree of DIGNITY.

Matthews (Mars):

Symbol: “ACCURACY”

Generous, energetic, talented and intuitive. Would make a good magnetic healer. (Gunsmiths with Aries, Libra 8-9 degree.)

Carelli (Mars):

A lucky destiny, confidential political appointments, an eminent position due to personal merits await the native. An inborn sense of dignity will exert a magnetic attraction on others and will call for their respect. The intelligence is lively and piercing, the faculty of observation precise and minutes There is a great deal of practical sense, a generous, friendly and hospitable sprit. Marriage will be happy.

Kozminsky (Mars):

Symbol: A human face, the expression calm and serene, a silvery triangle pointing upwards below, a dark square above.

Denotes one of spirituality and kindness who meets with trials and who is pressed under the rough heel of materialism and the greed of the world. Even so, the serene aura will flow from him as water down a mountain slope, cultivating those who come near. The conscience is strong, and be loathes evil and unworthy actions. This is a peculiar degree, and certain horoscopes will force an entirely opposite interpretation. It is a symbol of Transcendentalism.

Muir (Mars):

Very conscientious and self -sacrificing.  Eagar after spiritual knowledge and attainment.

Leinbach (Mars):

A tremendous strength more like. Taurus than Gemini comes through here, yet it also incorporates mental characteristics. There is a dualistic influence which incorporates both signs. There is a frivolous scattered nature which nevertheless picks up the Taurus love of beauty and luxury. Then there is a brute strength quality which is organized and held together with an abundance of mental ability. There is an abundance of the qualities necessary for any task this native sets out to accomplish. His resourcefulness never runs dry. But he may be satisfied long before his abilities have been exhausted. Perhaps it is due to this extra padding of ability that this native never feels pushed to the wall or overloaded with responsibilities. He can carry more than most people with less effort. He has a seeming ability to be everywhere at the same time, and a tremendous power over people, which borders on psychic or intuitive ability. With his excess ability this native is quite dependent on a push in the right direction of the right magnitude. If he is pushed too hard he will overshoot his mark and if he receives no push at all he may flounder around and not get started with anything. He need not receive this push from another person. He may receive the stimulation from an idea or a project which captures his interest.

Adapts well to anything due to dexterity, orderliness, sense of value and almost spiritual approach to life’s challenges.

Henson (Mars):

Photography; art; surgeons; opticians; ability for work requiring extreme accuracy and precision; good for scientists, miniature painters, and engravers; writers; music (“a troubador, his instrument slung at his side”); generous, energetic, talented, and intuitive; would make a good magnetic healer, appendix, lower right pulmonary lobe.

Cochrane (Mars):

Free as the wind that blows will be the mind of him who shall answer to this degree of the circle. Violent withal and rash, he shall put forth much strength to no purpose, and the path of him will be marked by waste and extravagance. Fallen idols and desolated temples will be the outcome of his genius, and to destroy where he cannot build will appear his appear his aimless pursuit in life. Nevertheless in the end he will become himself the desecrated tomb of many forlorn and blighted hopes. It is a degree of WANTONNESS.

Matthews (Jupiter):

Symbol: “ABRUPTNESS”

Fixed and authoritive. A ‘hard customer’ to handle. An active and progressive promoter or reformer. A hard critic, not always successful in his endeavors.

Carelli (Jupiter):

Symbol: A man maimed in his lower limbs, stands in the middle of a plain, while a storm rages overhead.

Miscarriage of any undertaking, lack of any constructive capacity, powerlessness to carry anything to its end. A volcanic and bungling mind, apt to set hand to a thousand and one fine things without being able to see a single one through. The resulting extravagant waste of energy is crowned by complete failure.

This is no doubt a reckless, brutal and ravaging nature, a real hurricane incarnate. The body actually may be crippled, perhaps in the legs. Yet, should the native be open to highly religious and spiritual ideals—not incompatible with the features mentioned above provided the rest of the nativity confirms it—he may be of some use to society by shaking slumbering consciousnesses and giving an impulse toward good, which then could be carried out by others.

Kozminsky (Jupiter):

Symbol: An ancient temple from which shoot forth forks of electricity.

Denotes one singularly gifted and of great power of observation who has ability to turn even the thoughts of old-world philosophies into forms of materialistic triumph. He is disposed to regard the thoughts of men and to ponder over, consider, and utilize what most people would cast aside as useless. In my experience it is more associated with art and fineness of perception. The natives here are highly sensitive to their lack of ability as well as the honest ability they have. They have an inner gentleness which is not associated with weakness but with strength. They never go off “half-cocked.” They wait until they know what they are doing before they take action of any kind. They display a masterful ability to maintain a peaceful and generous control. They incorporate a hard and authoritative logic, driving home their position which is always well taken. In battle they are usually gentle but firm and usually win with a minimum of useless controversy. Should one take an interest in one of the mystical schools, always of interest to Scorpio, he would choose path of love and the gentler more harmonious attunement rather than the more harsh self-denial paths, leading rigorous disciplines of the body. He already controls I body but he does it more gently.

But I perceive that this degree is charged with evil, and wickedness of the most diabolical nature belongs to this degree, or is denoted by it. This nature will be subtle but plausible in appearance. Destitute of one spark of REAL sympathy’. One who will ever prove treacherous to those who take him into their confidence. He is reserved, he is studious, but his favorite pursuit is black magic. Much of this is liable to modification, providing a benefic be on the ascendant or aspecting the same: but under the most favorable circumstances such a person will find very strong leanings to injure his fellow men rather than do them good.

La Volasfera (Saturn):

Symbol: A circle within a circle, both concentric.

This indicates a life that is bounded by another, a happiness that can never be shared alone. To such as one as is born under this degree the circle of existence will embrace the close relationships of domestic life in perfect accord. Subjected as he is to a divalent influence, the native will feel an urge either to help or to harm his neighbors, an alternative he will not easily escape. No living and letting live for him; his inner life does not seem to fulfill him, and his center of gravity seems to lie outside himself.

Here is the raw stuff to which only other pointers in the pattern can give shape. A nativity pointing to goodness or straightforwardness will make the native into an ideal marriage partner, an excellent cooperator, an exemplary citizen; one who will protect the oppressed and the poor, and who will spread his soothing influence on the surroundings where he lives. The native reaps where others have sown. An unquestionably gentle and demonstrative but fickle and shallow person, given over to fun and enjoyment, and fond of frills and frolics, the native will be but an amateur in everything; yet, barring a sudden accident, she will have luck on her side.

Unless, as I said above, a sudden accident hits her; the position of Uranus in the pattern has to be considered.

This is the index of one who will be unable to contain his feelings and passions, and will in consequence run to excesses, extravagance and waste of substance. He will be endowed with a fine intelligence, a genial and pleasant nature, and a generous and convivial disposition. But his inability to control his passions will lead to his reversal and undoing, so that he will unless he be under the guidance of a strong and steady band eventually be left to his fate, denuded of all that makes him a desirable companion or useful agent in life. It is a degree of INCONTINENCE.

A bright but rash mind, an utterly jolly temper, on the main more or less forgetful of the boundaries set by thrift, law or custom, not of those set by manners; a hospitable, generous and winning nature, but reckless and inordinate in love matters. Sentimental entanglements can bring trouble or worse; lavishness, extravagance, foregone conclusions and overhasty decisions can produce financial losses, failures, even complete breakdown should the stars be particularly evil. Overindulgence in food and drink are not unlikely. A leading hand, wise and firm, seems nearly indispensable.

Earthly affections may sublimate into God’s love and Christian charity; where other factors point the same way, the native may become an ascetic, even a saint but, too often, earthly and holy love will to-exist side by side and will induce a typical Freudian complex of sensual mysticism. Should the horoscope as a whole point to neuropathy, erotomania or the like will be the result.

Charubel maintains that if the Sun is southeast of the pattern, trouble will be limited to the former half of life. He goes on to say that the physique will be of a sanguine temperament, which reminds me of an old distich I heard attributed to the Salerntian school, though I cannot guarantee its authenticity:

Yet he will endure, and in spite of his disposition to help others at his own disadvantage he will meet with recognition, and even honor, as the leader of a forlorn hope. It isa degree of SACRIFICE.

Matthews (Pluto):

Symbol: “ANALYSIS”

A firm character with some unusual ideas or plans. Reckless disregard for personal danger.

Carelli (Pluto):

A very marked personality, a resolute and deliberate character, both shy of publicity and contemptuous of public opinion. Courage driven to the utmost of recklessness may bring the native into danger.

There are two possible cases:
 (1) An honest and human nature, whose loathing of the pick of society and of the smart military set will turn his feelings into sympathy and love for the needy and the destitute. He will courageously go out of his way to succor this undeserving flotsam of society who has been disinherited and left in the lurch by the highbrows. But he will get the usual reward of benefactors: “ingratitude more strong than a traitor’s arm” will overpower him.

There is a strong desire for money which probably contributes to the criminal tendencies. There is little concern for personal safety. Great risks are taken with almost an expectancy of being caught or punished. This degree usually causes much misery even in a well balanced chart.

Cold, but clear crisp days of Scorpio begin with Cardinal water sign Cancer here again (see the previous degree). Many woes and negative aspects of life will confront and challenge it to help those “in need” or hurt. Courage is necessary, so is sacrifice. To hide is to hate and deny. Learns to serve humanity. It signifies a person of a stubborn, willful nature, easily persuaded of the merits or rights of others, litigious and quarrelsome, of few sympathies, jealous and revengeful, it denotes a life of many dangers and perhaps death by the hands of a man. It is a degree of CONTEST.

Matthews (Ascendant):

Symbol: “DANCING”

May be inclined to jealousy, usually a quick thinker. This degree rules dancers and I know a number of women with planets here who dance almost every day for recreation.

Carelli (Ascendant):

This degree’s influence is in open contrast with the one of the sign to which it belongs, as it muffles down its foremost feature-reason, and sharpens, on the other hand, its second main trait-strife. The native seems to be born to argue and quarrel, but not on the solid ground of logic as he does not want either to offer reasons or to listen to reason and simply sticks to conventional ideas and popular fads current at his time in order to support his arguments.

Yet he likes arts, though in a conformist way, and might even cultivate them, but without the least trace of personal style, An ambitious, jealous being, alive only to his own merit and blind to the merit of others; stubborn, unreasonable, quarrelsome and revengeful, he is not liked by many and can go so far in his blunt recklessness as to court death at the hand of others. A native of this degree would quite likely be stimulated to sue some new idea to a logical conclusion by mental visualization.

This symbol denotes a nature of genial, friendly and sociable qualities to which the ties of domestic and social life will constitute the sum of possible happiness. Such will live in harmony with his fellows, preserving his relations in the most perfect accord, and on all occasions giving evidence of fidelity, devotion and self-control. He will rule others by the power of persuasion, and will attain his ambitions by the exercise of unusual powers of adaptability. As a man of  business he will be chiefly successful in bringing together elements of contrary natures, forming combinations of utility, and uniting forces which singly would prove incomplete and ineffectual. It is a degree of UNION.

Concordla discors: a typically dualistic and divalent influence. The native is a live wire, and his main problem is how to deal with his neighbors in all senses from spiritual exchange to sexual intercourse. Whether he will eventually find his feet, or stay a misfit in his surroundings, will depend on the horoscope looked at as a whole.

In the former case the native will be an extremely sociable person and a useful go-between, intercessor and peacemaker. He will make a faithful and staunch friend, endowed with the gift of persuasion and of adapting himself to any environment. Marriage ought to be extremely lucky unless particularly unfavorable aspects bear upon marriage relations in the horoscope; ambitions ought to be peacefully satisfied.

There is a blend of the broad humanitarian and the more personal sympathies neither of which seem to get very far out of hand. These natives are able to do well in positions of responsibility in government or work with the public. There is a drive attain positions of responsibility and the intuitive feeling quality to support such efforts. There is perhaps warmth than characteristic of Pisces but a very strict integrity and a sincere compassion. He is less of a humanitarian than Aquarius. He is basically concerned with him However, his personal characteristics are of such a that he is considerate of others and in no way seeks to unfair advantage or be calloused in any way to the of those around him.. He is a most congenial person to around, unobtrusive and helpful in quiet ways. Often these natives educate themselves by a love of reading.

Qirky, fixed air influence of Aquarius gives way to dreamy, hopeful, mutable water sign Pisces. Like most 0-1 degree points, this sudden newness creates variety and confusion - that’s very noticeable here.
