- “Fuck...Mom hid her purse and I spent all my money on cigs...Oi, lend me some money.”
- “Fuck you, pay me back for last time first.”
- “Oi Mada, lend me some money.”
- “Piss of Hiroshi.”
- The back of Class A-3, dirty and split from the rest of the students. The group of miscreants linger and cuss during lunch, the normal students keeping their distance or eating their lunch in another section of the school. The school year is nearing winter break and they can finally wear their gakuran comfortably, normally making the pack of rebellious and rambunctious youth less aggressive...if only by a little bit. Though one person seems more worked up than normal, his bleached, spiked hair shaking as he grinds his teeth.
- “Oi...Yokota, you alright?”
- “Still pumped up after that fight with Suko?”
- The delinquent grinds his teeth as he kicks the table.
- “Fuck Suko! Piece of shit!”
- “O-Oi calm down Yokota, you won right?”
- The delinquent that the others speak to with respect, shuts his eyes tightly as he groans.
- “It doesn’t matter if I won! It pisses me off so much!” His fist rubs his eye irritably as he shakes his head.
- “Eh? Pisses you off...Are we going to war with Yashobi tech?”
- “What are you on about?” Yokota sneers at one of the delinquents as he points at his eye. “Ever since that fight, I’ve had shit in my eye from when he threw dirt in my face! Dirty mother fucker! So annoying!” The delinquents look at Yokota as he rubs his eye in anger.
- “Oi, Yokota, don’t rub it. It’ll just make it worse.”
- “Fuck you! I can do what I want.” He says as he keeps rubbing.
- “No seriously man, you’ll scratch your eye. Just go wash it out.” Another one of them suggests as he tries to grab Yokota’s arm.
- “Just leave it alone, it’ll fall out.”
- “Yeah Yokota, just leave it alone.”
- The spiky haired delinquent gives them all a glare as he sits on the window sill, one of his eyes blinking with irritation. “I want it out now! It’s so damn annoying! Fuckin Suko! I’ll kill him!”
- A small voice cuts through the group of yankis sitting on the tables or squatting.
- “Excuse me, pardon me.” The unmistakable sound of a soft girl’s voice leaves the group confused as the petite girl in the school’s sailor uniform squeezes by the dangerous individuals.
- They stare in bewilderment, no one dares to walk into their circle, especially when Yokota is present; but here’s a fragile looking girl walking right through. Even Yokota is stunned as he stares at the girl in silence, his left eye shut and watering slightly.
- The girl is digging through her leather bag with her pale hands, she’s a petite girl with a slim waist and modest chest hidden behind her forest green skirt and green ribboned blouse. Her black indoor shoes are put on over her tall, black socks. From what little of her face Yokota can see from behind her shoulder length, bobbed hime cut hair, is actually quite cute.
- After a few moments, the girl pulls out a small squirt bottle and a moist towelette. When she looks up, it’s then her abnormality is made clear. She has one large eye, her grey eye staring back into Yokota’s own, single eye.
- “Open.” She says without emotion and quietly.
- Yokota opens his other eye with his hands as she drops a little of the liquid from the bottle into it and gently rubs it with her towelette. After a few seconds of gentle rubbing, her face nears his. Either her soap or her perfume smells like lavender, it isn’t strong, but it’s more than enough to tickle his nostrils from this distance. A gentle gust of air from the girl’s pursed lips cool his eye, his other staring at her glossy lips.
- After, the girl sets herself down from her tippy-toes before putting her things back into her bag and walking out of the classroom. She left as quick as she came, only saying a few words.
- Yokoto rolls his eyes around in his head as he lets out a sigh of relief. “Hey! She did it!” He laughs to himself as he leans back into the window comfortably, his eye no longer bothering him, only his thoughts.
- “Oi, who was that?” He asks the others and they shrug, only one of them lifting his finger.
- “Mimi...Milo...Momo....Hmm...Oh! Miko! Yeah Miko! She’s in our class, but she usually keeps to herself. Think she’s a rich kid or something, one of the top students in the school.”
- Yokota raises his brow. “One of the top students here and rich? Nobody knows who she is though? You sure?”
- Hiroshi shrugs. “Pretty sure. Pretty weird if you ask me.”
- “Yeah, she just walked right up to us.”
- “One of those monsters too, best to keep away.”
- The rest of the group goes back to talking as Yokota stares at the door she left through.
- “Hey, Yokota is still here.”
- “Isn’t that weird...?”
- “You think he wants to fight someone?”
- Whispers bounce around the classroom as the hair bleached ruffian sits in the back with his arms crossed, the last period is about to end. Yokota has made sure to sit in class all day, an unusual feat for the truant highschooler. The clock ticks away as his eyes glare at its face, the second hand nearing the bell.
- Once the afternoon bell rings, he stands up suddenly. The class hurriedly packs their things and tries to run as they see him walk towards the front of the class.
- The class is empty before he stops at his destination, only one student left. The girl sits in her seat as she packs away her books and supplies with rehearsed grace. Yokota stands there in silence beside her as she finishes up. Once everything is properly put into place, she turns her head and looks up at the delinquent.
- “...”
- “...”
- They stare at eachother in silence for a few moments until Yokotoa clears his throat.
- “Miko right?” He says as he sees his bruised face in her giant eye like a mirror.
- She nods.
- “...I’m Yokota. Yokota Ryuji.”
- She nods again.
- She doesn’t seem displeased or irritated by his presence, but she doesn’t seem to really care for it either. As if he was just another object in the room.
- “Yeah...I just wanted to thank you...Y’know for...my eye.”
- Her expressionless face and silence makes it awkward fro him as he speaks.
- “You’re welcome.”
- She says quietly in an uncaring voice.
- “Uh...Um...Hmm...” Yokota scratches his chin as he thinks of a topic, though nothing really comes up. After a few moments of silence Miko stands and bows her head before walking out of the classroom.
- “Let me know if you need somethin!”
- He blurts out, too late as she’s down the hallway by that point.
- “Toshi!”
- “What the fuck happened?!”
- The group gathered around their beaten comrade. Opened up cuts and purple bruises litter his body as he stumbles into the arms of his friends.
- “Y-Yashobi...” The beaten delinquent sputters out.
- “Fuckin’ Suko! What are we doin boss?”
- “Let’s kick their ass!”
- “Fuck ‘em up!”
- Yokota sneers. “Let’s show those pansies what happens when they fuck with Homari High.” The angered youth carry Suko to the nurse’s office before rushing to the field to grab bats.
- “Yeah! Fuck those Yashobi tech punks!” The delinquents walk towards the front gate as they shout and pump themselves up. Right on time, the bell rings.
- “...” Yokota turns and stops.
- “Yokota? Whatcha waitin for?”
- He scratches his cheek. “Er, give me a second will ya?”
- “Eh? Why?”
- “Oh you know...Left my bag.” He lets out a bashful laugh.
- “But you never have books or anything in it anyways...”
- “You kiddin’?”
- “Hey...You ain’t scared of Yashobi Tec are ya?”
- “Ehhhh?” Yokota sneers. “I’m not gunna waste time with those idiots unless I’m a little fucked up. I got some sake in the bag.”
- They smile and cheer as Yokota turns and runs into the school.
- Entering the school, he sets the bat down and searches the shoe boxes until finding the quiet girl slowly taking off her indoor shoes.
- “Oi! Miko.”
- The monoeye looks up at the spiky haired yanki. She bows her head slightly before continuing her business.
- “So I forgot to mention last time...uh...” He’s interrupted by the girl handing him her bag. She puts her indoor shoes into the shoe locker and takes out her cute sandals.
- “Oh that’s pretty old-fashioned...” She sticks her feet into the Geta. “Yeah, so like I said. You helped me out yesterday. So if there was something you...Here.”
- She takes the bag from him and nods in thanks.
- “So if there was something you needed, let me know.” He smiles and hits his chest.
- “Ok.” She says quietly with a nod before staring up at him blankly.
- “...”
- “...”
- “...”
- “I uh...You know, confident in my strength.”
- “...”
- “...”
- “...”
- “So you know...Just let me know...” He scratches the back of his head as she just keeps staring up at him. She bows before walking by him.
- “...Yeah...” He clears his throat before grabbing his bat and walking back outside.
- “Man, why the fuck weren’t we snowed out?!”
- “Hasn’t stopped you from skipping before.”
- “Pops said if I didn’t stop skipping he was going to kick me out...I don’t want to be homeless yet.”
- Two weeks after Yokota’s fight with Suko, things have begun to quiet down. Yashobi Tec got the beat down they deserve and the stories traveled far enough for the kids at Homari High to be able to walk to school safely.
- Yokoto shivers in his jacket as they walk through the snow. “Fuck! Why is it this cold?! I can’t stand it!”
- “Weren’t you just complaining about it being too hot a few days ago?”
- “Shutup Hiroshi.” Yokoto spits as he tucks his hands into his pocket. “And why are we heading to school so early for?!”
- “Toshi got a letter, he thinks it’s a love letter.”
- “I don’t know why you assholes have to come with me though...”
- “To bail you out when you get gangbanged.” Hiroshi laughs as he yanks on the punch-permed student.
- A strange sight for the delinquents, to see all of these students walking to school with them. Roads are usually empty by the time they go. Though one girl seems to be hidden from everyone, everyone except Yokota. The bobcut from behind leading down to the old sandals you’d see a proper lady from a few hundred years ago wear, easily sticks out to him.
- Yokota jogs up ahead as his friends joke and rough house. “Oi! Miko!”
- The girl turns her large eye to the delinquent beside her and bows her head. “Good morning.” She says softly and coldly.
- “Mornin! Cold out today huh?”
- The monoeye nods her head as she shivers. “Yes.”
- Yokota deliberates for a moment before taking off his gakuran and wrapping it around her. Her small stature is wrapped in it like a dress. “Here, you can borrow this today.”
- Miko reaches up and closes the jacket around her as she retreats her neck inside, cuddling up into the sudden warmth. “Thank you.” She says quietly and with a deeper bow.
- “Yeah. Figure I’d help you out. You know, ‘cus I’m a nice guy.” He shivers in the cold as his exposed arms already begin to turn red. “S-S-See ya M-Miko.” He waves before running back.
- “Oi where’d you go?”
- “The fuck’s your jacket?”
- “Eh? Don’t worry about it.” He says with a click of his tongue.
- ...
- “Oi! You goin’ home today?”
- Yokota jumps as his chair is kicked. His eyes flutter as he stares at the clock, by now most kids have went home. With a yawn he sits up, a warmth wrapped over his back. His gakuran is returned.
- “Shit!” He shouts, causing his buddy to jump. Yokota missed the chance to talk to her...
- Angry, he puts his jacket on. Though as he takes a deep breath, he simmers down. A feminine scent tickles his nostrils. He smiles as he pats down his jacket, before feeling something in his pocket.
- “Thank you.”
- A letter written in beautiful handwriting.
- “Yokota you’ve been making gross smiles a lot lately. Let’s go grab raman with Hiroshi.”
- The unruly youth pinches his spiked hairs as he stares at the back of Miko in thought. So far he hasn’t progressed this relationship with the girl further than a few sentences every once in a while. He has tried bothering her during lunch, in which case they just eat in silence. He’s tried catching her after school, which results in awkward one-sided conversations. When he has the willpower, he wakes up on time to walk with her, and that’s it. Just walking, no talking.
- “I wonder if she hates me...” Yokota hums in thought. To be fair, most people in the school do, and it isn’t exactly invalid. Though the question is, how do you make someone like you? She hasn’t even asked for a favor to repay the “dept” he decided he owes her.
- Then it hits him. People like things, people like people who give them things. “I gotta go to the nurse!” He shouts before running out of the classroom.
- In town, the boy scratches his head. People like things, but what things do girls like? As he stares at ladies who walk by, they clench their purses or walk across to the other side of the road. “Girls like purses...She has a bag though...” The clacking of heels of a particularly pretty lady walks by as he rubs his chin. “Girls like shoes...Meh, she has those old sandals though...”
- He finds his feet carrying him into a usual shop. All sorts of goods stock the shelves and stands as he looks around. His mind grows overwhelmed. Shopping for his friends is fairly easy, they like cigarettes, alcohol, and porn.
- “Excuse me. Can I assist you?” A voice pulls Yokota from his thoughts and he gives a toothy smile.
- “A girl!”
- “Eep! T-The cops are down the street!”
- “Eh?” He looks at her confused before putting the nudie mag down. “I need to get someone a gift. A girl. You got tits, what do girls like?”
- The clerk laughs awkwardly. “Umm...Perhaps makeup?”
- “She doesn’t wear makeup.”
- “How about chocolate? Girl’s like sweets, especially from boys they like.”
- “Chocolate...Hmm...” He mulls it over, simple, cheap, classic. It isn’t a bad idea. His eyes fall to a magazine, the cover has a model in makeup and sunglasses eating a piece of chocolate happily.
- “Yeah...I know what to get her.” He puts his fist in his hand as he smiles.
- Miko looks at the item in her hand in confusion as she rotates it around. Waiting until the classroom was empty, Yokota gave her his gift. She looks up at the smiling boy and back to the item, before looking back. “For me?”
- “Yeah. I saw them and thought you’d want it.”
- She blinks a few times and scrunches her face before putting the sunglasses on. They don’t cover her eye at all as she looks up at him. His voice catches in his throat as he realizes his mistake.
- “S-so uh...How is it...?” He laughs nervously.
- “...” She stares at him in silence for a few moments. They stare at each other, neither able to say a word as she stares over the sunglasses.
- The stare down is ended by Miko, who turns to her bag and opens it. Pulling out a small purse, she pulls out a couple thousand yen.
- “Huh? No. It’s a gift.” Yokota says as he waves away the money.
- “Gift. I see.” She nods before putting away her money and standing up. She bows slightly before walking by him.
- “W-Wait!” Yokota shouts and she stops a few feet away, turning around and giving him her full attention. The sunglasses are still on her face, to be fair, she looks ridiculous. This was a failure, a complete fuck up on his part. How couldn’t he have seen it coming? Maybe he should have bought her that playboy after all.
- He sighs, today’s a failure, he won’t confess today. “See ya tomorrow, Miko.”
- She bows her head once more. “Goodbye.”
- It took every ounce of Yokota’s will to leave the house on time. His mind is a storm of regret and self-hatred as he kicks the snow. His gift didn’t earn him points at all, in fact, he’s probably seen as racist now.
- Bumping past the other students, he grumbles towards school. Half hoping that he’ll see her, half hoping that he wont. Of course, she’s where she always is. The bobbed, black hair sticking out against the snow falling around her, her feet above the shallow snow as her tall sandals step through.
- Yokota sighs and slaps both of his cheeks before jogging up behind her. “Yo Miko! Sorry about yesterday! Pretty lame huh?”
- The one-eyed girl turns her head to look up at Yokota. Her large pupil and iris still visible behind the sunglasses. She cocks her head in confusion. “Sorry?”
- Yokota’s heart beats in his chest. “You’re wearing them?”
- She reaches up and adjusts the glasses. “Do they not suit me?”
- “No! No! You look beautiful!” He feels his guts churn as he lets slip such a creepy comment. Well, probably creepy coming from him. Though to his surprise, he sees her smile softly.
- Steam can practically be seen rising from Yokota as he’s blown away by her smile. The first time he’s seen it. Honestly, probably the first time anyone at school has seen it. He’s so happy he could shout.
- His heart pumps and his feet wants to dance, but he controls himself. He needs to keep his cool, he got lucky that the gift actually went well. He can’t fuck up now or it’s over.
- So he can’t mess up, he calmly and cooly opens his mouth to dismiss himself to celebrate in private.
- “I love you.”
- Yokota’s breath leaks out into the cold air in disbelief, the steam rising like the smoke of a sinking battleship. He stares at her with eyes wide as saucers as his stance is frozen solid. Miko stops too as she stares up at him in silence. The usual exchange follows, they stare at each other without a word as schoolmates walk around the two sculptures.
- “A...E....U....A...” His lips move, but no words come out. Yokota is completely unable to find a way to save himself. All of his hard work, dashed in a foolish moment of being half-asleep and overjoyed.
- Curiously, Miko responds with just a nod before reaching into her bag and pulling out her notebook. The sound of a pen scratching the paper follows, before she rips it out and folds it. She holds it in both hands and bows her head.
- Yokota slowly reaches for the paper. Once it’s in his hand, she turns and walks away, no words or sign of emotion. Cold like the winter around them. Yokota sighs and squats in the middle of the sidewalk, classmates having to walk in the grass or the road around him as he broods. “Well shit...” He pinches the bridge of his nose before flipping open the paper.
- “Eh?” Looking at the paper reveals a series of digits. Cogs start to turn in the boy’s head before his mind catches up.
- “OOOOOH! HAHA!” He jumps straight up from his squat as he waves the paper in the air.
- Sitting on his futon, Yokota stares at his phone. The screen is alight behind the bold numbers, his shaking finger holding over the call button. “Alright...be cool.”
- He calls the number as he gulps, the line ringing for what seems like forever. Eventually, someone picks up.
- “Oi! Miko! What’s up?!” He energetically shouts, followed by a brief silence.
- “Excuse me. I’m not sure who gave you the number to this house or who said you could call lady Hitomi by her first name, but your speech is brash and your voice makes you sound like Yakuza. Please forget this number and learn to respect your superiors. Thank you and goodbye.”
- “Wait!” He shouts at the unknown, feminine voice. “I figured this was Miko’s cell phone...”
- A sigh is heard over the phone. “It’s “Lady Hitomi” and you, not surprisingly, thought wrong. She does not own a cellphone.”
- Yokota hums in thought. “Lady Hitomi...I could see that. So she ‘is’ a rich girl?”
- “Yes, she’s a “rich girl”...Now if that is al-”
- “Wait! Could you get Miko?”
- “Oi! You’re starting to get on my nerves pun-Huh? Ojou-sama!” She’s cutoff and the sound of the receiver transferring hands rattles through the speaker.
- “Good Afternoon.” The monotone voice of Miko comes through.
- “Yeah! Miko! How are ya?”
- “Fine. And you?”
- “Better now. You got maids or somethin?”
- She makes a curt affirming sound and Yokota clicks his tongue. “They’re pretty rude, eh?”
- “...”
- “...”
- “...”
- “...”
- “Right, I just uh...You know, thought we could hang out somewhere this weekend. Maybe make up for me looking like an ass.”
- “I cannot.”
- Instant refusal. Yokota’s mood drops so abruptly he has to hold his gut to keep breakfast from coming up. “O-Oh...Haha, yeah sorry for disturbing you.”
- “You may come to my home tomorrow though.” You hear disagreements from the woman from before on the otherside before being shutup quickly.
- Yokota leaps up from the futon as he pumps his fist. “Oh! Hell yeah! I’ll be there!”
- “I’ll tell you the address, are you ready?”
- The boy stands in the shadows of the towering wall. Old feudal Japanese walls cut out a long section of land in this mountainous area. He had to take a train to get here, then a bus, then had to climb this mountain. Just how far is she traveling to go to school?
- The tall, red, bronze studded door has equally large knockers. Oni bite down on the rings that you’re supposed to grab. Using all of his might, he lifts the ring with both hands and starts to bang on the door. After a few moments the doors open wide. He’s greeted by no one, but the view is unbelievable. A large, frozen pond at the center of three large buildings. A shrine, what looks like a dormitory, and a castle in the middle. The garden is brightly colored, but despite the cold temperature it’s mostly alive.
- “Excuse me.”
- Yokota jumps at the sudden sound of a voice. To his right he sees a woman in a white yukata, her face hidden behind a large hat and a talisman. “You must be Yokota-san.”
- “Yeah, that’s right. You a maid?”
- She bows. “Something of a sort, though for your own safety, I would refrain from speaking so brazenly. Brigands are most unwelcome inside the Master’s home.”
- “Eeeeeeh...?” He lets out confused. “So, where’s Miko?”
- “This way sir.” She turns and walks towards the castle in the middle. Walking closer only makes it look larger. The entire area looks super-sized. With the wave of her hand, the maid opens the massive door. Walking inside seems like walking through a time machine. Antiques and old murals fill the halls as you follow the woman, occasionally passing by other similar looking maids.
- Upon the white woman’s sliding of a door, she directs Yokota to sit at the table. He squats down and leans back onto his hands, earning a sigh from the maid as she leaves him alone.
- “Damn Miko, you live in a place like this? You royalty or somethin?” He looks around the room as he admires the exquisite looking furniture and doodads. Sitting straight up, he can barely see over the table, it looks sturdy, and there’s ornate carvings into the legs. This is just one of the bonus rooms, it’s honestly starting to intimidate him at this point.
- The door slides open with a waft of cold air, getting Yokota’s attention as he looks over the giant table. His face grows warm as he sees Miko enter. She looks cute in her sailor uniform, but in her current clothes, she certainly plays the part of the elegant ojou-sama. Her red kimono with tree branch patterns hug her small frame as a large ribbon with long tails stick out from behind her. The sash itself is tan with white snowflakes spread evenly on the silk. She bows before entering. Yokota is too stunned by her beauty to say anything before she sits on the cushion beside him, properly of course.
- “Whoa...Miko, you look amazing.” He stares at the girl beside him. A faint pink comes to her cheeks as she thanks him softly.
- “The master and lady will be here soon. Until then, you may enjoy the tea and cakes.”
- “What tea-” His eyes widen as he sees the warm tea and snacks laid on silver plates on the table, seemingly from nowhere. Once the maid leaves he leans in and takes a bite of one of the cakes. “Damn, that’s good.”
- Miko sits in silence beside him as he tries to offer her one, shaking her head and thanking him.
- “I didn’t know you were some princess or something Miko. Pretty cool livin in a place like this. The drive sucks though...” He makes small talk with the girl as she nods.
- “Sorry.”
- “Eh? Oh the drive, that was nothin. Gettin to see you in that kimono is worth a little trek in the mountains. You dress like that all the time?”
- She nods before pouring two cups of tea, offering one to the lazily dressed delinquent. Compared to her high class look, he’s wearing track pants, a plain T-shirt and an old canvas jacket.
- “Thanks! Hey, did I hear the “Master and Lady”? Are your parents coming? Feel like I shoulda dressed nicer ya know-” Right as he finishes that sentence the door slides open, casing the blonde-spiked delinquent to shriek and drop his teacup. The oversized everything makes sense now. The large twelve foot tall cyclops wearing a samurai’s kimono enters the room. His tusks are probably as large as Yokota’s fingers and have gold piercings and tips on them. His giant body is accented by rippling muscle that can be seen in his open necked kimono. A massive sword is slung at his side as his one, giant, much less cuter than Miko’s, eye stares down at Yokota with a red iris and intense appraising.
- “This is Lord and Lady Hitomi.” The maid introduces them, bringing your attention to the much smaller woman beside him. The elegant looking woman has long hair that stretch down to the tatami mats, and seem to move on their own. Her large bosom practically spills out from her loose kimono as she bows her head in greeting.
- “Are you going to introduce yourself?” The maid wakes him up as Yokota jumps up and bows at the waist.
- “Yokota Ryuji! P-Pleased to be meet to you!” He says frozen like a statue in 90 degree bow as his teeth clench and his eyes bulge. An actual man-eating monster looking at him like he’s the scum of the earth.
- “Oi, sit.” The earth seems to rumble with the growling of the cyclops, immediately causing Yokota’s ass to slam into the cushion and sit properly cross-legged. Yokota shivers and huffs as his eyes meet the cyclops’s, his own pathetic form being reflected in the giant eye almost the size of a bike’s wheel.
- Though his breathing stops, and his mind finds clarity. A sudden stimulation taking him from the feeling of being prey. Yokota looks down, the small, pale hand of Miko resting softly atop his own.
- “Yokota...You appear impoverished.” The cyclops snarls as Yokota looks back at him.
- “Well, I’m definitely not as well off as you all are.” He laughs nervously.
- “Is that why you’re here? Trying to carve yourself a piece of our fortune?” His eye narrows.
- “Huh? Hell no! I didn’t know you guys were this loaded ‘til I got here!” He clears his throat. “S-Sir.”
- “Your manners are certainly as lacking as your apparel. Yakuza?”
- “No...I’m in Miko’s class.”
- “Miko?” The cyclops eye widens before narrowing further as he stares a hole through the boy’s face.
- “H-Haha! I-I just didn’t want you to get confused by the other lady Hitomi!” Yokoto shivers under the pressure.
- A mature giggle spills from the woman across the table. “Calm down Yokota-kun. My husband won’t eat you. Right?” She gives a look to the cyclops. His fiery stare softens slightly as he continues staring at you.
- “So, what skills do you posses?”
- “Skills?”
- “Surely you aren’t attempting to court my daughter and have nothing to offer.” The giant drinks from a massive tea-cup the size of a bowl.
- “Er...Uh...” Thinking through his skills he can only offer, “I-I’m pretty strong?”
- The cyclops holds the teacup to his mouth as he stares down at the boy doubtfully.
- “Right...A ronin boasting his strength to a cyclops. Shouldn’t you be attempting to offer yourself as a samurai before so arrogantly proposing-”
- “Yokota-kun, you seem like a pleasant boy. What do you like about our daughter?” The long haired temptress cuts off the cyclops as she uses her hair to lift her cup.
- “Huh?”
- “It’s an obvious question. Surely you don’t even have to think about it if you love her.” The blunt explanation causes Yokota to grow a bit red as he avoids her sharp eyes.
- “That’s a bit embarrassing to answer...”
- “I hope that’s not the answer you’re giving. It would be quite disappointing.” Her brow raises as she takes a sip.
- “Well...She’s cute...”
- “Go on.”
- Yokota’s head grows hot as he gulps. “She’s like no one I’ve ever seen before. She keeps away from everyone, hell most of the people at school don’t even know her, but she’s on top. I guess I admire that, to be the toughest, I’ve always had to be loud, make it known. All she has to do is exist.”
- “That’s the difference between the blood of a noble and a peasant.” The cyclops wipes the tea from his lips.
- “Right. Just being near her, it scrambles me. I can’t think, can’t move, all I can think is...her...Sorry, I can’t explain what I like about her...I guess, just everything.”
- A smile forms on the woman’s lips. “No that’s quite alright. I find your answer charming. More than antiquate.”
- A growl rumbles the room as the cyclops hums in thought. “I don’t agree. And I don’t agree to this marriage. I forbid you from courting my daughter. Descend from my mountain and never return.”
- “Eeeeeeh...?” Yokota lets out a long, confused sound at the word “marriage”. “Wait, what? What are you talking about mar-” Before Yokota can finish his sentence, he’s shocked by the sudden rising of the girl beside him. The two cyclopes stare into each other’s eye.
- “Is there a prob-”
- “Silence you old fool.” The cyclops shuts up at Miko’s unusual outburst. “Yokota is my husband. It has been decided.”
- “Oh? And without your father’s blessing?” The deep voice echoes against the walls of the room as the feminine voice sings back.
- “If my father is a stubborn jackass, then his blessing is meaningless.” Her words are sharp, yet elegant, like a lady of the court. “Give him a chance, if he fails then our love is not meant to be.”
- A growl erupts from the man as he snarls. “...Fine! Then we will test this pathetic human.” He slaps his knee loudly before standing up and glaring down at Yokota. “Be prepared human, you are to undergo trials that oni fail.”
- He turns on his heel and slams open the door. The long-haired beauty bows. “Good luck Yokota-kun.” She leaves behind him as the maid enters.
- Miko turns and bows to him before leaving with the maid, another one entering and bowing to you.
- “W-WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON?!” He shouts in confusion.
