  1. >The pounding of the rain and the rumble of thunder outside is loud.
  2. >So loud, in fact, that you almost don't hear the soft knocking at your bedroom door.
  3. >You lie in bed, wondering if you imagined the sound.
  4. >*knock knock*
  5. >You definitely heard it this time.
  6. >And you think you can guess who it is.
  7. >The door opens slowly, with not even a creak.
  8. >A small face slowly peeks around it.
  9. >"D-daddy? Are you awake?"
  10. >It's little Fluttershy.
  11. >She was always a bit more timid than the others.
  12. >You turn towards her before responding.
  13. "Yes Fluttershy, I'm awake. Having trouble sleeping?"
  14. >She nods.
  15. >You know what she wants, this is far from the first time.
  16. >You sigh.
  17. "You want to sleep with me tonight?"
  18. >She nods again, this time a bit more vigorously.
  19. "Alright, come on."
  20. >She enters the room and closes the door before approaching shyly and climbing onto the bed with you.
  21. >Looks like she has her stuffed bunny with her.
  22. >She loves that thing, takes it with her everywhere.
  23. >Fluttershy settles into the bed beside you before giving you a hug.
  24. >"Good night Daddy. I love you."
  25. "I love you too, sweetheart."
  26. >You lie there for a while, just listening.
  27. >The pitter patter of the rain on your house.
  28. >The deep, rolling rumble of the thunder that had scared your Shy into your room.
  29. >It was calming.
  30. >Maybe someday she'll learn to enjoy it too.
  31. >...
  32. >*knock knock*
  33. >"Dad?"
  34. >That isn't Fluttershy.
  35. >You turn your head to look at the newest bedroom intruder.
  36. >It's Twilight.
  37. >As much as she likes to act mature, even Twilight gets scared sometimes.
  38. >"Is it okay if I, um, stay with you tonight?"
  39. >You scooch over a little and pat the empty space next to you.
  40. >Without a word, she clambers over the covers and settles in next to you.
  41. >When she finally gets comfortable, she smiles back up at you.
  42. >"Thanks Dad. Goodnight."
  43. >You lean over kiss her on her forehead.
  44. "Goodnight, my little bookworm.
  45. >She closes her eyes, a small smile on her face.
  46. >...
  47. >You barely have time to settle down yourself before you hear it.
  48. >*knock knock*
  49. >You look at the door once more.
  50. >This time it's Applejack, with Rarity in tow.
  51. >As much as your roughest girl and your little princess bicker with each other, they were still sisters.
  52. >"Hey Pa? Me and Rarity-"
  53. >Rarity nudges the blonde girl and scowls.
  54. >"Ahem, Rarity and I~"
  55. >Rarity nods her approval.
  56. >"We was wondering if we could stay in your bed. You know, just for tonight."
  57. >Rarity steps forward, nodding.
  58. >"This thunder is awful loud, and I need my beauty sleep!"
  59. >She bats her eyelids at you.
  60. >"Yeah, and I didn't want to leave Rarity alone or anything. You know how she is!"
  61. >You chuckle.
  62. >You know the truth behind their excuses.
  63. "Okay girls, hop on."
  64. >They do so gladly, positioning themselves as close to you as possible without crowding the other two already present.
  65. >The girls say goodnight before nodding off.
  66. >Your precious girls...
  67. >...
  68. >The rain pounds away at the windows.
  69. >The thunder comes in louder and more frequently.
  70. >Despite this, your little girls continue to sleep.
  71. >Lightning flashes.
  72. >"Poppa!"
  73. >Or maybe not.
  74. >You hear a startled yip, just barely managing to be heard over the crashing thunder.
  75. >Before you can react, you feel a tiny body slam on top of yours, knocking the wind out of you.
  76. "Oof! Dash, what's the matter?"
  77. >"I-I, um, w-wasn't scared or anything! I was just checking to make sure that you weren't scared!
  78. >You roll you eyes.
  79. >Of course you were, Dash.
  80. >"D-don't worry, Poppa! I'm here to keep you safe!"
  81. >The rainbow-haired girl pats you on the chest, while trying to put on a brave face.
  82. >Trying, and failing.
  83. >Another rolling boom of the thunder sends Dash scurrying under the covers, clinging to you like a barnacle.
  84. >She peeks back out at you before smiling sheepishly.
  85. >You just smile back, patting her on her multicolored scalp.
  86. >As you do so, you here a shuffling and a yawn at the door.
  87. >It's Pinkie.
  88. >She wipes her eyes before yawning once more.
  89. >"Dad, why is everyone on your bed?"
  90. >She looks at you with confusion before her eyes bulge in realization.
  91. >"ARE WE HAVING A SLEEPOVER?!"
  92. >You wince.
  93. "Pinkie, keep it down! Your sisters are trying to sleep!"
  94. >Correction, they WERE trying to sleep.
  95. >Pinkies outburst caused all of them to jump.
  96. >"Oh, s-sorry..."
  97. >As they all get their bearings, you try to calm Pinkie down.
  98. "Hey it's alright Pink. You want to join our sleepover?"
  99. >Her face lights up with a huge grin as she nod so hard your afraid her head might fly off.
  100. "Hop up then. Try not to trample your sisters while your at it.
  101. >She quickly does so, somehow crawling over her siblings without touching any of them.
  102. >She drapes herself over you, Dash having (begrudgingly, and with a lot of grumbling) moved to share her space on top of you.
  103. >Pinkie pecks you on the cheek and says goodnight, before yawning one more time.
  104. >...
  105. >It's a wonderful day for a walk in the woods.
  106. >The sun's rays peek down through the canopy, lending their light to the mottled hues of greens and browns surrounding the trail.
  107. >You've always enjoyed coming out here with her.
  108. >"An early morning walk is a blessing for the whole day" is what she told you one time.
  109. >You've found that there was truth in that.
  110. >There she walks, next to you, rambling on about the forest and animals, as she always does.
  111. >You briefly wonder if little one will inherit any of that from her.
  112. >Your thought is interrupted when a car beeps angrily at you as it zooms past.
  113. >The traffic is becoming a real problem in this part of the city.
  114. >You really need to get to library, quick.
  115. >She's there waiting for you.
  116. >You know how she hates tardiness.
  117. >You quickly cross the street, this taking care in regards to the vehicles.
  118. >You are about to step into the library when a hand on your shoulder stops you.
  119. >"You're not gonna leave me hanging, are you?"
  120. >She stands behind you with a smirk on her face.
  121. >"You remember what I told you, last time I saw you? What would happen?"
  122. >Her smirks widens into a manic grin.
  123. >"I never forget."
  124. >You open your eyes.
  125. >The rain is gone, though you can still hear far off thunder.
  126. >Your girls are sprawled out on the bed, none the wiser to your sudden awakening.
  127. >It was one of those dreams again.
  128. >You've been wondering when they would show up again, but it's not like you missed them.
  129. >You might need to talk with Luna again soon.
  130. >For now, though, you're content to lie here with your girls.
  131. >Your precious girls.
