- >The pounding of the rain and the rumble of thunder outside is loud.
- >So loud, in fact, that you almost don't hear the soft knocking at your bedroom door.
- >You lie in bed, wondering if you imagined the sound.
- >*knock knock*
- >You definitely heard it this time.
- >And you think you can guess who it is.
- >The door opens slowly, with not even a creak.
- >A small face slowly peeks around it.
- >"D-daddy? Are you awake?"
- >It's little Fluttershy.
- >She was always a bit more timid than the others.
- >You turn towards her before responding.
- "Yes Fluttershy, I'm awake. Having trouble sleeping?"
- >She nods.
- >You know what she wants, this is far from the first time.
- >You sigh.
- "You want to sleep with me tonight?"
- >She nods again, this time a bit more vigorously.
- "Alright, come on."
- >She enters the room and closes the door before approaching shyly and climbing onto the bed with you.
- >Looks like she has her stuffed bunny with her.
- >She loves that thing, takes it with her everywhere.
- >Fluttershy settles into the bed beside you before giving you a hug.
- >"Good night Daddy. I love you."
- "I love you too, sweetheart."
- >You lie there for a while, just listening.
- >The pitter patter of the rain on your house.
- >The deep, rolling rumble of the thunder that had scared your Shy into your room.
- >It was calming.
- >Maybe someday she'll learn to enjoy it too.
- >...
- >*knock knock*
- >"Dad?"
- >That isn't Fluttershy.
- >You turn your head to look at the newest bedroom intruder.
- >It's Twilight.
- >As much as she likes to act mature, even Twilight gets scared sometimes.
- >"Is it okay if I, um, stay with you tonight?"
- >You scooch over a little and pat the empty space next to you.
- >Without a word, she clambers over the covers and settles in next to you.
- >When she finally gets comfortable, she smiles back up at you.
- >"Thanks Dad. Goodnight."
- >You lean over kiss her on her forehead.
- "Goodnight, my little bookworm.
- >She closes her eyes, a small smile on her face.
- >...
- >You barely have time to settle down yourself before you hear it.
- >*knock knock*
- >You look at the door once more.
- >This time it's Applejack, with Rarity in tow.
- >As much as your roughest girl and your little princess bicker with each other, they were still sisters.
- >"Hey Pa? Me and Rarity-"
- >Rarity nudges the blonde girl and scowls.
- >"Ahem, Rarity and I~"
- >Rarity nods her approval.
- >"We was wondering if we could stay in your bed. You know, just for tonight."
- >Rarity steps forward, nodding.
- >"This thunder is awful loud, and I need my beauty sleep!"
- >She bats her eyelids at you.
- >"Yeah, and I didn't want to leave Rarity alone or anything. You know how she is!"
- >You chuckle.
- >You know the truth behind their excuses.
- "Okay girls, hop on."
- >They do so gladly, positioning themselves as close to you as possible without crowding the other two already present.
- >The girls say goodnight before nodding off.
- >Your precious girls...
- >...
- >The rain pounds away at the windows.
- >The thunder comes in louder and more frequently.
- >Despite this, your little girls continue to sleep.
- >Lightning flashes.
- >"Poppa!"
- >Or maybe not.
- >You hear a startled yip, just barely managing to be heard over the crashing thunder.
- >Before you can react, you feel a tiny body slam on top of yours, knocking the wind out of you.
- "Oof! Dash, what's the matter?"
- >"I-I, um, w-wasn't scared or anything! I was just checking to make sure that you weren't scared!
- >You roll you eyes.
- >Of course you were, Dash.
- >"D-don't worry, Poppa! I'm here to keep you safe!"
- >The rainbow-haired girl pats you on the chest, while trying to put on a brave face.
- >Trying, and failing.
- >Another rolling boom of the thunder sends Dash scurrying under the covers, clinging to you like a barnacle.
- >She peeks back out at you before smiling sheepishly.
- >You just smile back, patting her on her multicolored scalp.
- >As you do so, you here a shuffling and a yawn at the door.
- >It's Pinkie.
- >She wipes her eyes before yawning once more.
- >"Dad, why is everyone on your bed?"
- >She looks at you with confusion before her eyes bulge in realization.
- >"ARE WE HAVING A SLEEPOVER?!"
- >You wince.
- "Pinkie, keep it down! Your sisters are trying to sleep!"
- >Correction, they WERE trying to sleep.
- >Pinkies outburst caused all of them to jump.
- >"Oh, s-sorry..."
- >As they all get their bearings, you try to calm Pinkie down.
- "Hey it's alright Pink. You want to join our sleepover?"
- >Her face lights up with a huge grin as she nod so hard your afraid her head might fly off.
- "Hop up then. Try not to trample your sisters while your at it.
- >She quickly does so, somehow crawling over her siblings without touching any of them.
- >She drapes herself over you, Dash having (begrudgingly, and with a lot of grumbling) moved to share her space on top of you.
- >Pinkie pecks you on the cheek and says goodnight, before yawning one more time.
- >...
- >It's a wonderful day for a walk in the woods.
- >The sun's rays peek down through the canopy, lending their light to the mottled hues of greens and browns surrounding the trail.
- >You've always enjoyed coming out here with her.
- >"An early morning walk is a blessing for the whole day" is what she told you one time.
- >You've found that there was truth in that.
- >There she walks, next to you, rambling on about the forest and animals, as she always does.
- >You briefly wonder if little one will inherit any of that from her.
- >Your thought is interrupted when a car beeps angrily at you as it zooms past.
- >The traffic is becoming a real problem in this part of the city.
- >You really need to get to library, quick.
- >She's there waiting for you.
- >You know how she hates tardiness.
- >You quickly cross the street, this taking care in regards to the vehicles.
- >You are about to step into the library when a hand on your shoulder stops you.
- >"You're not gonna leave me hanging, are you?"
- >She stands behind you with a smirk on her face.
- >"You remember what I told you, last time I saw you? What would happen?"
- >Her smirks widens into a manic grin.
- >"I never forget."
- >You open your eyes.
- >The rain is gone, though you can still hear far off thunder.
- >Your girls are sprawled out on the bed, none the wiser to your sudden awakening.
- >It was one of those dreams again.
- >You've been wondering when they would show up again, but it's not like you missed them.
- >You might need to talk with Luna again soon.
- >For now, though, you're content to lie here with your girls.
- >Your precious girls.
