- ==== V3.8B: The Rise of the Octarian Shogunate! ====
- A long-awaited update that everyone was asking for since day 1...
- Now in pastebin notes form because Steam won't LET ME post this whole thing in there. :/
- This is the biggest update this mod has ever seen. Adding a new race is no mere undertaking, and I wanted to do it right.
- I've been steadily working on this since April 2024, inspired by Side Order's new insights, and in the process made a new friend that's helped develop many of the big features in this update!
- We sincerely hope that you enjoy the update, and thank you so much for your enjoyment of the mod over the years. Here's to many more!
- == Character Creation ==
- - Added a new playable race, Octolings!
- These guys do not yet have support from Race Traits or Frackin Universe at this time (12/28/24, 2:00 AM CST) but updates and requests will be pushed to implement support when possible.
- - Added Octoling racial dialogue to every object .patch, to vanilla races' dialogue banks, and to Inklings' dialogue banks as well.
- -- That's over 2000 .patch files by the way, so that's 4000+ total inspect lines for this mod's races!
- - The Inkling namegen list has been overhauled, removing some names and adding unique ones.
- - The Octoling namegen shares some names with the Inkling list due to cultural exchange and them both being Japanese-inspired... but it has a fair amount of unique names as well.
- - Added a couple Inkling hairstyles, mostly accent-less versions of existing styles.
- - Multiple Inkling hairstyles were changed or downright re-sprited to avoid overlap with Octoling hairstyles.
- - Added new shirts to available choices on character creation.
- - Changed gender icons to cute swim-form icons.
- If you're having trouble telling the genders apart, good-- I mean...
- Orange Inkling = female, blue Inkling = male; red Octoling = female, green Octoling = male.
- == Armor & Clothing ==
- - The mod has over 40 sets of custom tiered armor now! That's pretty cool.
- - Any clothing item that provides immunity to Sanitized status now explicitly says so in its description.
- - Inklings have three new sets of tiered armor to appreciate: the Hero's set (tier 5 Accelerator, based off of Agent 4's duds), the Armored Hero's set (tier 6 Accelerator, based off of Agent 4 in two layers of armor), and the Tattered set (tier 6 Manipulator, a playable version of Captain Three's outfit)! They'll know recipes for all of these by default.
- -- Inklings can, by default, no longer craft armor sets to do with the Octarian Shogunate; check "Crafting" below.
- -- Like some other armor items, the Tattered Hero's Poncho provides immunity to Sanitized status.
- -- Octolings, obviously, don't know these recipes; but they can unlock them by picking them up.
- - Added the Deepsea DJ's Cap, Dress and Heels, making a full set of tier 1 clothing based on Acht "Dedf1sh" Mizuta's clothes.
- -- Craftable by Octolings, but are also included as part of the Side Order content set AND the Octo Expansion content set, so Inklings and other races can unlock these by using a Blank Palette or CQ-80.
- - Added the Astronomical and World Tour clothing sets, meant to be tier 2 takes on Pearl & Marina's Splatoon 3 outfits.
- -- Craftable by Octolings, but are also included as part of the Side Order content set, so Inklings and other races can unlock these by using a Blank Palette.
- - Added the Orderly set, a tier 4 armor set modeled after Agent Eight's outfit in Side Order.
- -- Craftable by Octolings, but are also included as part of the Side Order content set, so Inklings and other races can unlock these by using a Blank Palette.
- - Agent Eight's Octo Expansion armor has been upgraded to be Tier 5-Separator. Tier 4 versions of this armor set will still exist but can no longer be crafted.
- -- Octolings start with the recipes for this armor. Other races will have to unlock it with a CQ-80.
- - Added the Null Armor set, a tier 6-Separator armor set based off of Agent Eight's digs in Octo Expansion with sufficient armor.
- -- Like the Sunbathed Tentacles and other armor items, the Null Armor Helm provides immunity to Sanitized status.
- -- Craftable by Octolings, but also included as a part of the Octo Expansion content set, so Inklings and other races can unlock these by using a CQ-80.
- - Added the New Frontiers' Headset, a tier 5-A helmet crafted from the tier 4 (Neo Agent 3 / Explorer's) head item. It provides breath protection and typical stats for its tier.
- -- Both races start with this recipe.
- - Added 13 new headgear items based off of the idols' outfits from Grand Festival!
- -- The 7 base items are craftable by any Inkling or Octoling, from the start, at a tier 3 anvil; the 6 wig versions have their recipes learned by picking up its corresponding base item, or by picking up a wig from another player!
- - Added the Octo Tee, Obscene Shirt and V-Neck Shirt.
- - Added the Li'l Devil Horns, Anglerfish Hood, and Jiangshi Hat as festive autumn gear! The Li'l Devil Horns are dyeable, the other two are not.
- - Added three Octarian hats (kelp twist + kelp earring + gold earrings), an as-of-yet-unused Inkling mask intended for later updates, and one clothing set (shogunate official kimono). These are primarily for NPC use but some of them are obtainable naturally.
- - Added the Suction Bomb Hat, because the idea was presented to me and it was too funny to resist.
- - Most tiered armor has had stats reworked to better match vanilla tiered armor stats.
- == Weapons & Combat ==
- - Chargers have been mechanically overhauled! They now behave exactly like chargers in Splatoon do: you can fire a weaker shot with a tap, but you can charge up a much stronger shot by holding the button. Charge is indicated with a sound effect and an animated gauge on the charger itself-- once full charge is achieved, the gauge will flicker. You can hold this charge indefinitely, and then release the button to fire it.
- -- Existing Chargers have not been changed, but are still fully functional. You will have to craft new ones to experience their new mechanics.
- -- Fully-charged shots are universally stronger with a piercing effect, and depending on the weapon model may have other effects as well.
- -- The two Squiffers also work like this. The three Bamboozlers do not, and are mostly unchanged from prior updates.
- - Splatlings have also been mechanically overhauled! Like the charger rework, they work exactly as they do in Splatoon: you can fire a couple of shots with a tap, but hold down the fire button and they will charge up stronger rapid-fire. They have both audio and visual cues for their level of fire.
- -- Existing Splatlings have not been changed, but are still fully functional. You will have to craft new ones to experience their new mechanics.
- - The new tier 5 Splatling is the Heavy Splatling Edit, with new spritework, animation and stats to reflect that. The tier 6 Splatling is now the new Hydra Splatling.
- -- Reasons for this: "Marine thought the Custom Hydra was really ugly and it wanted the normal Hydra to be special, and adding the Edit made the tiered Splatlings both visually and statistically more interesting".
- -- This makes the Custom Hydra more or less depreciated, so hold onto any you have, you won't be able to make any more of them.
- - Added the Mini Splatling, a lightweight and easy-to-use tier 2 Splatling. Both races can craft it, and it can be purchased on SplatNet as well.
- - The tier 3 charger is now the Toni Kensa Charger, better differentiating it from tiers 1 and 2.
- - Added the Order Charger, Blaster, Splatling, Splatana and Stringer. These are all tier 4 weapons based off of their Side Order equivalents, crafted with the Blank Palette and colors of dye that correspond to their owners.
- -- There's also a sixth Order weapon, too... I'll let you find it.
- -- All are craftable by Octolings, but are also included as part of the Side Order content set, so Inklings and other races can unlock these by using a Blank Palette.
- - All Splattershots have been given some more TLC to make them a plausible weapon option. Their shots now inflict a form of slow alongside their paintball effects, they have had their Damage + Fire Rate values buffed, and all models now have altfire.
- - Added the Sunbathed Octoshot, a super-special tier 6+ pistol with poison shots and a special altfire. Its recipe is unlocked by crafting the tier 5 Octoshot, and uses both Octo Expansion and Side Order goods.
- - Now that Octolings are playable, Inklings can no longer craft the Octoshot and Elite Octoshot.
- Instead, Inklings get access to completely new t5 and t6 pistols: the Neo Hero Shot lv2 and lv3, based on Neo Agent 3's guns from Splatoon 3's story mode. These have different stats than the Octoshots as well as different abilities.
- - Octolings don't get the tier 4/5/6 assault rifles due to lore reasons... but they do get the brand new fist weapons!
- The L3.Gs Fists, Bass-Dropping Claws, and Octobot King's Impact are all new fist weapons exclusive to Octolings, who know the recipes from the start.
- -- Other races can learn the recipes for these by obtaining them from Octolings.
- - Splatanas have started to show up as a craftable weapon!
- As alternate Broadsword-type weapons, they're slightly slower than Brushes and have different specials.
- -- Octolings craft these instead of Inkbrushes. Inklings can learn how to craft them by picking them up.
- - Added the REEF-LUX 450, a tier 5 Stringer, and the Wellspring V, a tier 6 Stringer. Both races can craft these from the start.
- - All Splattershots, Blasters and Splatlings now have altfire now!
- -- All Chargers and "light" Chargers (Squiffers) have had their altfire modified.
- - Blasters now have a unique projectile and explosion that they use, rather than generic grenade shots! They also now make blaster shot noises. Pop pop pop.
- - Almost all* weapons in this mod are now upgradeable using essence. Only stats and the weapon's name are altered with upgrades; no visual or functional effects change. For now, anyways...
- Tier 6 weapons also have the upgradeable tag for compatibility with mods that allow upgrading beyond tier 6.
- --* Chargers, Splatlings and Squiffers are not upgradeable at this time due to their unique coding and how that affects on-the-fly stat calculations. They and any missing weapons will be upgradeable in a future patch!
- - Rollers and Brushes now make roller and brush noises (Brushes only make it on the first swipe because broadswordcombo.weaponability is a garbage file), and apply the proper color effect to targets.
- - Multiple existing weapons (that were NOT subject to overhauls) have had their parameters and/or altfire adjusted.
- -- All Splattershot weapons: +DMG, +/- Fire Rate on some models
- -- Tri-Stringer: +DMG
- -- Grim Ranged Blaster: -DMG
- -- Rapid Blaster: +DMG
- -- Luna Blaster, Luna Blaster Neo: +Fire Rate
- -- Octobrush: +Fire Rate
- -- Octobrush Nouveau: +Fire Rate, Spin Slash -> Rising Slash
- -- Elite Octobrush: +Fire Rate, Spin Slash -> Flip Slash
- - Splat Bombs have had their damage adjusted and now use a unique explosion.
- - Suction Bombs have had their damage adjusted and now use a unique explosion.
- - Burst Bombs now spit out only 4 slime, 1 lava or 1 poison for their respective types. This is for altfire rebalancing.
- == Crafting ==
- - Added the Octarian Scrapbench, a special crafting table that enables all kinds of Octarian mischief. This incredibly useful metalwork bench allows you to transform various objects into raw materials, giving them new life... and also lets you craft assorted traps and tricky things to keep any annoying Inkling neighbors out.
- -- The scrapbench meant to be a method of recycling, not a full reversal of recipes! If you make a Crystal Door and then scrap it back into raw materials, you will get back maybe 50% of the crystals you used to make it.
- -- All recipes for this are HIGHLY prone to change to keep the Scrapbench a balanced addition to the game. It's meant to encourage other means of getting resources, but recipes may be changed if it gets out of hand.
- -- This is a no-recipe-needed crafting table, meaning any race can use all of its recipes at any time.
- -- Only Octolings can make the bench from scratch, but any race can find the bench spawning naturally in micro/dungeons.
- - Added the Reanimated Tentacle, a new crafting item used in Octoling recipes for dungeon traps and obstacles.
- These are crafted at the Octarian Scrapbench and used specifically there.
- - Added the Inked Customization Station, a crafting shelf specifically for recolored objects, wigs, and other "variants of existing things" objects. It's small and background-mounted so you can easily place it in your crafting workshop!
- -- This is to help minimalize redundancy and declutter other crafting tables, since a lot of new content has been added for those.
- -- Existing recipes that have been moved to this table include variants for: Inkling flags (all besides the blue one), lockers (base + black/rainbow are still both on the Inkling Crafting Table) flares, glowsticks, the Ribboned Octarian Doll, some graffiti, and wigs. And probably more stuff that I forgot to list here.
- -- Both races start with the recipe for this crafting table, accessible from the tier 1 Inventor's Table.
- -- This is also a no-recipe-needed crafting table, meaning any race can use all of its recipes at any time.
- - All existing color-variant objects and wigs no longer need their recipes to be unlocked. They can all be crafted at the Inked Customization Station by anyone at any time, assuming you have the materials.
- - Added the Blank Palette, an unlock item that teaches recipes related to Side Order. It's also used in many of those recipes!
- -- Inklings and Octolings know the recipe for this unlock item from the start, and Octoling weapon merchants sell them. You might also find them in treasurepools out there.
- - Inklings can no longer craft the two sets of Octoling Soldier armors or the Shogun's set by default; these are now Octoling-only sets, and Inklings have been given new tiered armor to replace them (see Armor & Clothing above).
- -- Inklings can still learn these recipes by picking up the armor in question.
- - Inklings can no longer craft the Octoshot or Elite's Octoshot. They can now, however, craft other guns instead (see Weapons & Combat above).
- -- Inklings can still learn these recipes by picking up the weapon in question.
- - Both races now know all Splatfest-related recipes from the start. Other races can still learn these recipes by picking up or crafting a Basic Splatfest Tee.
- - The various Display objects now have it so that picking up their associated weapon unlocks the Display version. This also works for the new Display objects that have two weapons on display: picking up either weapon will teach you the new recipe.
- -- e.g. Picking up an Octoshot will teach you how to create the Octoshot Display Stand. Picking up a Squiffer OR a Splat Charger will teach you the recipe for the Charger Display Stand.
- - Weapon customization has been depreciated. The assets will still remain for compatibility and because I'm not an evil monster who wants to steal all your weapons.
- ==> The Inkling Crafting Table can now craft all weapons in this mod, assuming you know the recipe, up to tier 3.
- For anything tier 4, 5 or 6, you will need the specific crafting stations.
- - Many items, objects and foods have been given learnBlueprintsOnPickup coding so that Inklings and Octolings can better engage in cultural exchange and also teach other races how to make things.
- -- And more items/objects/foods will be given this support in the future!
- == Objects ==
- - Added a whole bunch of Octoling stuff, including new food-crafting tables, new storage, a new bed and more.
- -- All of this is craftable from the start by Octolings. Inklings need to pick them up to learn their recipes.
- - Added two teleporters for Octoling use.
- -- Octolings can craft these from the start. Inklings can pick up and learn the standard kettle recipe, but the (very special) boss kettle is Octoling-exclusive.
- - Added four cool flags for Octoling use. They're neat, try hanging them from things.
- -- Octolings craft these from the start, Inklings need to pick them up to learn.
- - Added a "local area" kettle teleporter.
- -- A smaller version of the Octoling's kettle teleporter, you can wire these together to teleport instantly between them.
- -- Octolings craft these from the start, Inklings need to pick them up to learn.
- - Added object versions of food items, both existing and new additions!
- They can be crafted at the new Inked Customization Shelf, using their base item.
- - Added two more general graffiti decorations, which come in complimentary colors to the Ink Splatter graffiti! You can view all of their colorways at the Inked Customization Shelf.
- -- Both races know the base versions from the start.
- - Added 3 more pride month graffiti, all of them based off of the everyday experience with Splat3 players.
- -- Both races can craft two of them from the start, and the special third version is learned by picking up one of the default ones.
- - Added a whole bunch of Octoling graffiti, Inkling brand stickers, and other wall decor.
- -- Octos know their graffiti from the start. Inkling brand stickers are limited in crafting but give their recipes if you pick them up from dungeons in the wild.
- - Added two decorative Zapfish aquariums.
- -- Octolings can craft these from the start, assuming they've obtained a Zapfish. Inklings need to pick up Zapfish to learn the recipes for the aquariums... and you can find those with some difficulty if you know what to do!
- - Added the Golden Devourer Statue, completing the Triumvirate!
- -- Like its companions, the Golden Behemoth and Golden Dragon statues, it can be found very rarely in oceanic treasure pools and in boxes associated with merchants.
- - Added five new posters, one each for each member of Deep Cut, a special fused version of those three posters, and a... let's call it a special edition version of one of those posters.
- -- Both races can craft four of these from the start. One of these posters is treasurepools only.
- - Added assorted new weapon Displays, featuring assorted weapons from the mod.
- -- These are great for attracting Inkling and Octoling guards, but you didn't hear that from me...
- - Added the DJ Octavio Poster.
- -- Only Octolings can craft this, but Inklings can learn the recipe by picking it up.
- - Added the Team Past, Present, and Future Banners.
- -- Both races can craft these from the start.
- - Added a plethora of adorable musician plush toys.
- -- Both races can craft these from the start-- besides the Acht plushie, which Octolings know but Inklings don't. However, Inklings can learn this recipe from a CQ-80 or a Blank Palette.
- - Added tubelights, a cool neon light that comes in many different colors and orientations to make custom signs and scenery. You can see these in action in the Inkling City dungeon (see Dungeons and Planetary Stuff below).
- -- These are learned specifically by purchasing tubelights from the Glow Merchant in the Inkling City, and crafted with the Inked Customization Shelf! The merchant also sells a new item needed to craft tubelights; this reagent can be made at the Inked Customization Shelf, but it's easier to buy it.
- - Added the Modernized Flatscreen, a big television that hangs on the wall and plays the news for all who wish to watch. :)
- -- Both races know the recipe from the start.
- - Added the Inkopolis Radio, which plays Splatoon's "Calamari Inkantation" when interacted with! This cover was created by Lumena-tan on YouTube & SoundCloud, and is free-to-use with credit. Thank you!
- -- Inklings know this from the start. Octolings will need to pick it up.
- - Added the Splatslands Radio, which plays Splatoon 3's "Anarchy Rainbow" when interacted with! This cover was made by Loeder on YouTube, and is free-to-use with credit. Thank you!
- -- Both races know this recipe from the start.
- - The Deepsea Radio now plays Splatoon 2 - Octo Expansion's "Fly Octo Fly ~ Ebb and Flow (Octo)" when interacted with! This cover was created by Lumena-tan on YouTube & SoundCloud, and is free-to-use with credit. Thank you!
- -- Octolings know this from the start. Inklings will need to pick it up or use a CQ-80.
- - Added a new dungeon prop, the Subject Results Vat. Take care not to hit it, or shoot it, or even just touch it really...
- -- This cannot be crafted or picked up. If a weapon or weapon projectile makes contact with it, it will violently explode and send Strange Ooze everywhere.
- -- It also has the effect of making Octolings that examine it very, very sad. :(
- - Added... other things that I've forgotten to put in here, I'm sure.
- - The Modern TV now actually plays animation!
- - Tweaked object tags to appeal more to tenants in various ways.
- - The Smallfry Plushie now makes sounds if you interact with it.
- - The Colorful Pole is now 8px wide and behaves accordingly.
- - All non-ship Inkling Teleporters have had their collision changed.
- - Most objects have had their imageOffset and spaceScan modified for better customization potential and better compatibility with Tiled + dungeon generation. Sorry about any objects of yours being wiggled around, this is a very important change!
- - All object vendors (Ammo Knights, Jelly Fresh, Shrimp Kicks, Cooler Heads, and Splatnet) have had their sale pools edited for new content.
- == Food & Cooking ==
- - Added the Wasabi crop, a super-spicy root veggie that grows in water. It takes time to grow but has a decent sell value and is used in some Octoling recipes.
- -- Octoling players will have a few wasabi starts in their shiplocker upon starting the game. Other races will have to barter with Octoling players for their crops, or find wasabi starts out in the wild!
- - Added Octoling-exclusive recipes for new food items: the Searingly-Spicy Steak, Nigirizushi, Celebratory Fried Rice, Wasabi-Leaf Tea, and Zhaeki-dako Sake. Inklings and other races can learn the recipes by picking up these food items.
- -- Octoling food merchants can sell these among other items!
- - Added Inkling-exclusive recipes for new food items: the Fried Shwaffle, Crusty Seanwich, Pescatariat, Splatslands Twist, and Crabtrap Sandwich. Octolings and other races can learn by picking up these food items.
- -- Inkling food merchants can sell these among other items!
- - Many existing food items have had their effects, recipes or parameters altered. Most of these changes are based off of recipe complexity and cross-examining it with vanilla Starbound assets.
- -- Chocolate Truffles: Effects are now 3min15s duration.
- -- Ice Cream Cake: Effects are now 6min duration.
- -- Marinaded Fugu: Now requires 2 cookedfish, 2 venomsample, and 1 sugar.
- -- Peanut Butter Pie: Energy effect is now 3.5min duration.
- -- Sashimi Pizza: Effects are now 6min duration.
- -- Tasty Tendrils: +scaling energy effect is now 5min duration; added nullified fall damage (3min duration).
- -- Takoyaki: Now requires 1 rawtentacle, 1 wheat, and 1 sugar.
- -- Tentacurl Noodles: Now requires 1 wasabi root. Effects are now 7min duration.
- -- Turf Crust: Effects are now 5min30s duration.
- == Codices ==
- - New codices about Octolings, the Octarian Shogunate, and their side of the universe have been added!
- -- Octolings can craft all of these from the start. Inklings can craft some of them but will have to find the codex in the wild (from treasurepools) and pick it up to craft it.
- - "The Inkling Primer" has been renamed to "Inkfish For the Rest of Us" and has been completely rewritten.
- -- Vanilla races all start with this book so they can get to know their cephalopod neighbors a bit better.
- - "The NSS: A History" has been completely rewritten and turned into "Inkfish Cuisine", because Captain Three found it really annoying that there was a random codex talking about her fairly undercover organization in-depth, and that doesn't seem right for lore.
- -- This cool little codex teaches many recipes, both Inkling and Octoling ones, when you pick it up!
- -- Both Inklings and Octolings can craft "Inkfish Cuisine" from the start. Give it to all your non-inkfish friends to teach them new things!
- - "Cephalopodian Factions" has been given some new information.
- - "Another Inkfish" has been completely rewritten to reflect newly-established lore. Inklings can craft this from the start, Octolings start with it.
- - Added "That Heavenly Melody", a codex on a certain special song penned by a familiar face. Inklings start with the recipe, Octolings will learn it after crafting the Inkopolis radio.
- - Added "The Splatslands' Bandits", a codex about our favorite troublemakers, Deep Cut! Both Inklings and Octolings start with the recipe.
- - Added a new page to "Smallfry Diary, Part 1". My Smallfry wanted to do NOTHING but read the electrical safety signs in Alterna and I needed to reflect that.
- - treasurepools that include codices from this mod have been updated.
- == NPCS ==
- - Octoling NPCs have been added!
- You can find them as villagers, guards, Elite guards, merchants, and as assorted villager-like NPCs with various jobs and outfits. Many of these can be tenants, too.
- Some are recruitable as crewmates, some aren't, some give quests and others don't!
- - Some special Octoling merchant NPCs are included in these additions. The Glow Merchant can be found in Inkling cities and sells a variety of glowing stuff, including new custom objects; the Octarian Chef Merchant can be found in both Inkling and Octoling cities and sells Octarian cuisine; the Octarian Weapon Merchant can be found in Octoling cities, selling weapons favored by Octolings; and the Grand Festival Merchant can be found in Inkling cities, selling assorted musical merchandise. Finally, the Octarian Scrap merchant is an uncommon merchant that can be found in Octoling cities, selling objects that can be used with the Octarian Scrap Table to be reduced to raw materials.
- - Not wanting to fall behind, there's also new Inkling merchant NPCs. The Street Food Merchant can be found in Inkling cities, selling assorted delicacies, and the Clothing Merchant can be found in Octoling cities, selling uncommon and festive clothing items.
- - Inkling chef NPCs now carry a different variety of foods, both prepared and raw. These changes are to accommodate the new Inkling street food chef NPC and the Octoling chef NPC.
- - Inkling weapon merchants now carry slightly different goods to contrast with the new Octarian weapon merchant.
- - Many existing NPCs have been given new clothing options, especially in the pants department.
- -- In a strange twist of fate, this has made some NPCs occasionally spawn WITHOUT pants. This is a known issue and we're working on it once we figure out what the heck is going on.
- - Inklings are now less likely to pick the engineer + mechanic crew member classes over other classes.
- - Octolings are more likely to pick the engineer + mechanic crew crew member classes over other classes.
- - Sanitized NPCs now use the Octoling name generation list, not the Inkling one.
- - All Sanitized guard NPCs, friendly OR aggressive, now have ink tanks with the correct color of ink.
- - Sanitized NPCs now drop different stuff upon defeat, and have a chance to roll an uncommon drop table with extra loot.
- -- We're going to figure out how to make them explode into Strange Ooze when defeated. It's going to be awesome.
- - Aggressive Sanitized NPCs have had their weapons and base stats altered. They're significantly more killable now but can still seriously mess you up.
- -- Stats for these NPCs may change in response to testing and feedback.
- - Tweaked quest references to use neutral pronouns in reference to both races.
- - Agent Eight, at the Outpost, is now an Octoling.
- - Did some backend work to better divide cephalopod tenants vs "wild" NPCs. Tenants are overall a bit friendlier and will give quests more often. Wild NPCs can still do so, of course.
- - Non-hostile Sanitized NPCs can give quests too, but they can't be recruited, because no matter how friendly they are, you REALLY don't want them in your ship.
- == Dungeons & Planetary Stuff ==
- - Added the Octarian Dome City, a brand new dungeon brought to you by the talented Lithoboli! This dungeon contains a lot of fun new stuff, including some crafty secrets and new merchants. Try not to give them too much trouble down there.
- -- Standard Octoling cities can be found on Savannah and Jungle planets. "Hazard" Octoling cities, a variant with more secure kettles, can be found on Midnight, Volcanic and Scorched planets.
- -- "why are those ones quirky about planet choice though" Because it keeps the neighbors away, next question.
- - The Inkling City has returned, reimagined and splashed with a coat of new ink by Lithoboli! This dungeon introduces new NPCs, new objects and crafting opportunities. Take a load off and have some fun dancing up on the stage, try some new foods, or learn some new recipes to liven up your own creations!
- - Inkling cities can be found on Oceanic, Jungle, and Forest planets.
- - Both of these dungeons will be able to show up on more planet types in the future.
- - Added a solo Octoling dome as a microdungeon on Snow, Tundra, Oceanic and Jungle planets.
- - Existing microdungeons have had all of their air bubbles removed, and a couple of them have had minor facelifts.
- - Existing microdungeons can now have new loot in their treasure chests and containers.
- - Finally gave that one Inkling house a door on the rightmost wall. You know the one.
- - Treasure chests on Oceanic planets, both on the surface and ocean floor, now have a wider variety of modded items appearing in them.
- == Pets ==
- - 5 new seaslug colors have been added for Inklings everywhere to dote over: the Aori, Clean, Cohock, Golden and Octarian.
- - A new pet debuts with Octolings, the Amphipod! Inspired by one of the plaza critters in Side Order, these cuties are a bit larger than a dog and make soft squeaking sounds. They're partially translucent and it's pretty cool.
- -- They currently come in 8 different colors. These include Order Sector, Drone, Support, Mobility, Luck, Power, Range, and Jelly. More colors will arrive in future updates.
- == Status Effects ==
- - Minor Sanitization now decreases your movement speed by 30%.
- - Moderate and Severe Sanitization now both increase movement speed, Moderate by 40% and Severe by 60%.
- -- These are for lore accuracy and also to somewhat balance out the Vial of Strange Ooze, since otherwise you can just spam healing with it for net-positive effects.
- == Bug Fixes ==
- - Changed some recipes to be accessible and/or not typo'd.
- - Guards no longer explode when you steal something in their vicinity.
- - Fixed some missing pixels on Octoling armor + Elite Octoling armor pants.
- - Sanitized NPCs that aren't wearing the Clean Mask now have visible mouths when speaking or emoting.
- - Sanitized NPCs, including aggressive ones, are now completely immune to Sanitization.
- - The Glooga Dualies (tier 5 machine pistol) now display their sprite properly when wielded. They were accidentally using the Toni Kensa sprite instead.
