  1. The Incredible Shrinking Pam
  2. > For Trish and Pam, two nerdy friends that stayed that way right up into university, there was nothing they loved more than high grades.
  3. > So when they were tasked to make a short film, them pulling out all the stops were expected, but nobody expected them to go that far!
  4. > As soon as they got the task, they wanted to make their own version of "The Incredible Shrinking Man".
  5. > The plot they had in mind was a simple one. Female scientist gets shrunk accidentally, gets brought by accident into their arch enemy's room, who then proceeds to torment the tiny.
  6. > And they knew just how to do it, with Trish using a science project she made a while back that could shrink people.
  7. > They went back to Trish's house, set up all the cameras, and one zap of the pink ray later, Pam was standing in Trish's room, just two centimetres tall.
  8. > Everything was so vast for her, the walls felt kilometres away, the carpet fibres around her went up to her waist like long grass ... and Trish towered above her like a skyscraper.
  9. > It was ... simply mind blowing.
  10. > Her legs went weak and she promptly fell back on her ass as she tried to take it all in.
  11. > "So..." Trish calmly said, which to Pam, felt like a thundering boom that shook her very body. "...I'm just going to do what I need to, and you just play along, okay? Not much depth in your reactions, just play a terrified tiny, alright?"
  12. > Pam frantically nodded. While they had been friends for as long as they remembered, Pam couldn't help but feel a tiny bit afraid of the towering giantess that was Trish.
  13. > But she pushed the thoughts aside. She would do anything to get a good grade.
  14. > As soon as Trish saw Pam nod, she turned on the cameras and gave a wicked smile.
  15. > "Well hello there ... what have we got here? Is that you Dr Paula? Look at you, all shrunk down like a bug! And you know what happens to bugs..."
  16. > Trish loomed down, her noose mere millimetres away from Pam's face.
  17. > "They get 'squished'. Run ... that'll make it more interesting."
  18. > The colour drained from Pam's face. Trish slipped into the role so easily, a bit too easily in fact!
  19. > But she didn't have time to think about it before Trish's foot loomed over head! Pam could see every contour of her shoes, every ridge, every groove, everything.
  20. > Pam started running, with Trish's foot slamming down right where she was!
  21. > POUND
  22. > "This is for all the times you rejected my research proposals!" Trish thundered.
  23. > Pam sprinted through the carpet, fibres whipping at her sides while Trish continued to stomp around her. Some stomps were far away, others were terrifyingly close.
  24. > Seeing a shoe the size of a building slam down right next to her before pulling away again ... Pam could never get used to that.
  25. > But she kept up the act. She screamed, she dashed, she dodged, although honestly, not all of it was acting at this point.
  26. > Running at such a tiny size was difficult, a fact she was keenly reminded of as she tripped, stumbled, and fell over, flat on her back.
  27. > Shaking away the blow, she looked up to see Trish towering over her, and her shoe, poised above her like a guilottine.
  28. >"Any last words, Dr Paula?"
  29. > And then her foot came down.
  30. > Pam screamed, shut her eyes and held up her hands in an instinct response.>
  31. > She waited for the shoe to crush her flat, fear taking over her in the instant ... but it never happened.
  32. > Slowly, she opened her eyes to see Trish's shoe hovering mere centimetres above her, twisting from side to side.
  33. > Thankfully, Trish merely 'faked' stepping onto her.
  34. > "Yes, yes, smoosh like the little bug you are!" Trish yelled as she continued to 'grind' Pam's body into a fine paste.
  35. > After several seconds, Trish pulled away and looked down at her.
  36. > Any hint of malice, of anger had evaporated, and was replaced by severe and grave concern. She scooped Pam up immediately and then gently held her against her cheek in a demented form of a 'hug'.
  37. > "Ohmigosh Pam, are you alright? Did I hurt you? I ... I didn't want to hurt you, I just wanted to get some good footage? I didn't hurt you did I?"
  38. > Pam squealed as Trish yanked her away from her cheek, holding her (gently) in her hands in front of her face as she turned her over, meticiously looking for any bruise or scrape.
  39. > "No no, I'm fine Trish, really! You didn't hurt me!" Pam yelled in an attempt to be heard, her heartrate dropping as all facade of anger fell away.
  40. > "I didn't? Oh gosh, I was so worried there! Thank goodness you're alright! I was confident I wouldn't hurt you, that I could control myself, but argh, I was so worried!"
  41. > "It's okay. And hey, I'm sure we've got some great footage! Method acting and all that."
  42. > They both smiled, looking at each other sincerely.
  43. > Trish then leaned forwards and gave a little 'kiss', right on the tip of Pam's nose. They both giggled.
  44. > "Okay, okay, phew, thank you Pam. I'll probably have to redo the end of that scene so we can do more stuff, and I've got a lot more stuff planned, but that's for tomorrow. Yawn ... I'm tired."
  45. > Pam nodded. She too was feeling a bit tired.
  46. > Sleeping at such a tiny size should've been easy for Pam, but it turned out to be rather difficult! Sleeping on a bed was way out of the question, as Trish was afraid she might roll over and squish her in her sleep.
  47. > So, Trish instead got one of her socks, put it on the bed side table, and let Pam sleep inside it like a massive oversized sleeping bag.
  48. > It was massive, and smelled faintly like sweat, but it was comfortable being in such snuggly fibres. Pam cuddled up in the very bottom of the sock.
  49. > After giving each other a goodnight kiss, they both fell asleep.
  50.
  51. ---
  52.
  53. > As soon as Pam woke up ... she knew something was wrong.
  54. > Everything felt wrong, strange, like a new sensation had broke out across her skin.
  55. > Slowly, dreading what she was going to see, she opened her eyes.
  56. > And gasped.
  57. > For she was no longer in the sock, but instead in a massive cavern that boggled her mind! The walls, the floor, the ceiling, they were made up of massive, interwoven string that looked as thick as a football field!
  58. > Getting up, she saw that she herself was on one of these fibres!
  59. > It was like she had been sent to an entirely different dimension.
  60. > But then ... she realised that no such thing happened.
  61. > She realised that she was still in the sock ... she was just now the size of a mere speck! A tiny, tiny, tiny creature less than a millimetre tall!
  62. > The machine must've malfunctioned!
  63. > She had to get out of here, now. But before she could, the world beneath her shook like an earthquake as Trish roused herself out of bed.
  64. > She looked into the sock, leaving Pam gasping as she stared at the massive orb of her eye that was several kilometres wide.
  65. > "Pam? Pam? Where are you Pam?" Trish asked, shaking Pam's very bones with the thunder of her whispers.
  66. > "I'm over here!" Trish screamed, frantically waving her arms, but Pam didn't see or hear her.
  67.
  68. ---
  69.
  70. > Trish pulled away and sta down on her bed, worried. Pam must've gone somewhere, but where?
  71. > Was she playing a prank on her? Did an insect grab her? Was she whisked away by the wind? Trish just didn't know!
  72. > Biting her lip and reassuring herself that everything was okay, Trish got ready to go around the house, searching for her.
  73. > But first, she needed to put her shoes on. And before that, her socks.
  74. > But she didn't have any socks left! Biting her lip again, she decided that if Pam wasn't in the sock, she might as well use that one...
  75.
  76. > Pam was terrified. She didn't know what was going on, and just wanted Trish to find her and grow her back to normal.
  77. > She yelped as the world around her shifted, and she barely managed to cling onto the fibrous ground she stood on.
  78. > The sock twisted head over end, going who knows where, until settling. It now dangled straight down, with Pam hanging onto the wall, looking down at a dark abyss beneath her.
  79. > But when she looked up ... she was something worse.
  80. > Because she saw Trish's foot, wiggling its way into the very sock she sought refuge in.
  81. > It was massive, enormous, taking up the entire world she knew. The mere ridges of her toe-prints were bigger than a free-way, the toes were larger than mountains, and the foot itself look as big as a city.
  82. > She had just one change to scream before the sweaty surface of her little toe slammed into her and ripped her away.
  83. > Only the strengthening effect of shrinking prevented her from being pulverised into mere dust from the force of the blow.
  84. > She immediately stuck to the faintly sweaty surface, being dragged along before being mashed face force into the sock's edge.
  85. > Pam could barely move, she could barely breath, not with an entire mountain's worth of flesh pressing down on her.
  86. > All she could do was weakly mewl as she was whipped around before being pressed even harder as Trish stepped into her shoe.
  87. > She didn't know how long it would last, but she hoped it would end soon.
  88.
  89. ---
  90.
  91. > Doing up the last shoelace, Trish began to meticiously search around the house.
  92. > Every drawer, every cupboard, every piece of furniture, she checked.
  93. > It might take hours ... but she was going to find her friend, no matter where she was.
  94.
  95. ---
  96.
  97. > And all the while, Pam suffered beneath the might of her foot.
  98. > Every step was like a roller-coaster to her.
  99. > It started with a long yank upwards, her gut lurching out of her stomach as she was dragged up into the sky.
  100. > At the peak of the step, there was a moment of respite, just one moment of blissful weightlessness before she went back down again.
  101. > She would rocket down towards the floor before slamming into it, the sound shaking her very skeleton like a bomb.
  102. > She would be mashed, hard, into the fibre, before it started all over again as she was ripped off the ground.
  103. > But after a few minutes of searching, a new problem started to arise.
  104. > Sweat.
  105. > It wasn't a gradual process, oh no, she was just sweltering down there before her entire world was consumed by a single bead of salty liquid.
  106. > The drop rolled across Trish's toe, bringing Pam with it, until it mercifully dropped free of her foot and splashed against the far end of the sock.
  107. > Pam spilled free of the blob and was left panting on one of the titantic fibres.
  108. > Peeling herself up and looking around, she noticed she was free of the foot ... for now.
  109. > Holding herself together while Trish continued to walk, Pam hunkered herself down and hoped for it to end soon.
  110.
  111. ---
  112.
  113. > Half an hour had passed, and Trish was getting worried.
  114. > Not because she hadn't found any sign of Pam, although that helped, but because she felt like she was forgetting something.
  115. > She went to check her notes on the shrinking machine, see if she had missed something ... when her heart dropped.
  116. > "Personal Note: Under rare circumstances, the machine can go into overdrive, leading to the subject being shrunk to a speck after a few hours of time delay."
  117. > She was mortified. She'd been walking around for half an hour with Pam inside her shoe!
  118. > Not even thinking, she quickly whipped it off, took her sock out as gently as she could, and shook out its contents onto the plate of a microscope.
  119. > She peered in close, looking over all the specks of dust and skin samples...
  120. > ...before finding one tiny Pam, standing on the glass plate and waving her hands.
  121. > Trish sighed in relief.
  122.
  123. ---
  124.
  125. > It was a simple process to grow the tiny Pam back up to size.
  126. > Once she did, Pam was left standing in her bedroom, soaked in sweat, battered, bruised, and reeking of something foul.
  127. > The first thing Trish did was hug her, professing her complete regret, before regretting that decision as Pam smelt. Bad.
  128. > Pam quickly accepted her apology, and went off to take a nice, long shower.
  129. > But not before saying one thing...
  130. > "Next time, you get shrunk, not me!"
  131. The End.
