Intermission - May 1943: The Norfolk Peace Conference

The Norfolk Conference commences on May 28th, 3 years after the start of the Second Great War. Present are representatives from all members of the Anglo Alliance and the Stali Pact, as well as representatives of most of the Covenant members. The next few days are arduous, as so much is at stake.

President Eternien is adamant that a major rebuilding of Europe MUST take place. He proposes the New Europe Project, which will focus on rebuilding the Covenant's CIVILIAN industry and helping them transition back into the global stage. Many are against such a move, mainly the Stali Pact, but also the Teutons. They suffered greatly at the hands of Carinthia and Lotharingia, and they are not eager to see any aid be given to them.

Eventually, the NEP was passed and agreed upon by the majority. The Conference ends on June 3rd.

In Europe, Lotharingia is now a true democracy headed by American chosen Joseph Liedts. The government is currently controlled by the US, until the country is ready to stand on its own. Most of their industry is in shambles from the war, but the NEP will ensure that its civilian economy will flourish in the future. All of their southern and western territories are gone, split between Picardy and the newly reformed, US controlled Lombardia. The Dutch Rijk is occupied by the US, until a new country can be formed. The Fourth Reich was annexed by Poland just before the war ended, and there would be no way but war to get it back or liberate it.

Carinthia has been shattered, replaced by small nation states. Provence and Genoa are US puppets for the time being, while Ferrara is neutral and Ancona is a puppet of Russia. The last of the northern Carinthian territory is annexed by Prussia, while the eastern parts are taken by Hungary.

Castille annexed Andalusia the second their troops occupied the small nation. They outright refused to hear of any independence for their now small population of Muslims.

In North Africa, Arabia's western holdings are formed into the new nation of Morocco, which is under US control. Tunisia is under US occupation until a new nation can be organized for the local people.

Castille swooped in and managed to grab a few eastern Arabian territories during the peace conference. Lebanon and Gaza are taken, as well as a small state in Upper Egypt. Ethiopia is released from Arabia, and they are given all of their southern coastal provinces.

Further south, all of Galicia's continental Africa holdings are taken by Haiti. They will forever regret coming into the war so late.

In the Americas, both the Peruvian and the Colombian governments are replaced by US controlled democratic ones. Josa Gonzalez is the new president of Colombia, and Felipe Cabrera is president of Peru.

The Russia did not come out of the conference with much. They entered the war incredibly late, and thus did not have the opportunity to seize much. However, Kornilov sees it differently. According to him and his government, the Covenant fell so quickly in the last weeks of the war because of the Stali Pact's intervention. It is due to their entrance that the war ended when it did. They are owed as much as the Anglo Alliance, he states.
