  8. The listener wakes up in a mysterious place, embraced by someone, no something. The events from last night come back to their mind, it wasn't a dream after all. Sensing their restlessness the kitsune offers them a choice...

  19.
  20. <This scene takes place in the morning, inside the abandoned shrine, which looks well-kept, as if it was never abandoned in the first place. The listener begins to stir from their sleep, they feel something like fur brush against their legs.>
  21. [Birds chirping outside, *slight breeze rustling leaves*, *cicadas buzzing*, *light breathing*, sheets rustling, the speaker leans over to whisper in the listener’s ear.]
  22.
  23.
  24. Speaker (slightly groggy, purring lovingly):
  25. “Mmmm, good morning, my little mouse. I see you’ve come back to me. I was starting to think you might sleep forever.”
  26. [Pulls the listener closer, fabric rustles, then a soft kiss]
  27. “I do hope you found some comfort in my embrace. The forest can be overwhelming for one not accustomed to its whispers. Did you sleep well my darling?”
  28.
  29.
  30. --Listener now fully awake, begins to struggle, pushing away from the speaker. They practically throw off the sheets, and try to scurry off, but an arm drapes over their waste and pulls them back into a tighter embrace.--
  31.
  32.
  33. Speaker (laughing at first, but voice is smooth and fond):
  34. "Where do you think you're going? I quite like having you here next to me. So close, so warm. Such a cute little mouse.”
  35.
  36.
  37. [BRIEF PAUSE]
  38.
  39.
  40. Speaker (sighs, tiredly)
  41. “I take it you slept well then since you suddenly have all this energy. I don’t know why you would want to run away. There’s no one out there for you. You’re safer here with me, why would you ever want to leave?"
  42.
  43.
  44. --The listener struggles, telling the speaker to let them go.--
  45.
  46.
  47. Speaker (feigning hurt)
  48. “Are you that desperate to leave my embrace little mouse? Do you desire to be rid of me that badly?”
  49.
  50.
  51. --Listener retorts back a clear and obvious yes!--
  52.
  53.
  54. Speaker (Pause, pouty)
  55. “Aww, I’m hurt mouse!”
  56. (Now sternly)
  57. “Fine then! If you insist on resisting me, I’ll offer you a choice…”
  58.
  59.
  60. --Listener: “Really, you’re giving me a choice despite *gesturing wildly* this?”--
  61.
  62.
  63. Speaker (soft laughter, then sternly again)
  64. “Yes mouse, I am offering you a choice, no strings attached, that I can promise you. Here’s the deal, if you can escape these grounds then I will let you walk away from me, you’ll be rid of me and free to go your own way…”
  65. (Becoming slightly excited as they continue)
  66. “…but if I catch you before you make it past the final torii gate, well… I get to claim you, all of you. Your body, mind, and soul. I’ll show you what it truly means to belong to me.”
  67. (Light chuckle)
  68. “Before you make your choice on my offer, I’ll remind you of this, my dear… the forest is vast, and I know every path, every shadow. I practically control everything here, including your perception of reality. There's really no way out if I don’t want there to be. But I suppose if you want to find out for yourself, you are certainly welcome to try.”
  69. (Slight pause)
  70. “Now, what do you say? Do you wish to submit and stay with me, or shall we begin the futile little chase?”
  71.
  72.
  73. --The listener begins to run.—
  74. [Sound of footsteps as they run away.]
  75.
  76.
  77. Speaker (muttering quietly to himself)
  78. “A chase it is then…”
  79. (Shouting tauntingly, their voice growing distant as the listener gains distance)
  80. “Run, little mouse. Run as fast as you can. Don’t let the fox catch you!!”
  81.
  82.
  83. [Running continues, now running into the grounds outside of the shrine, leaves, branches, and gravel crunching under their feet.]
  84. --After a while, the listener collapses somewhere, trying to hide and catch their breath.--
  85.
  86.
  87. Speaker (calling out, voice faint and in the distance)
  88. “Oh moouuusseee, where could you have run off too? Are you not scared of being out in these woods alone. Don’t you know a sweet little weak and defenseless human like yourself would make an easy meal for any other yokai that might stumble upon you?”
  89. [BRIEF PAUSE, then voice grows closer.]
  90. “You’re going to tire yourself out my little mouse. I can find you wherever you go.”
  91. [Another BRIEF PAUSE, now even closer]
  92. “You know you’d be safer if you were with me, right? I wouldn’t let any other monster lay a claw on you.”
  93. (Sounding amused)
  94. “Only I can do that.”
  95.
  96.
  97. <Then suddenly the bushes next to the listener shuffle, and an arm reaches out and grabs them. They manage to stifle out a scream before being pulled back.>
  98. [Rustling, *struggle*]
  99.
  100.
  101. Speaker (quietly)
  102. “Ah, not so fast. Shh, shh, hush!! Even in the daylight, the panicked screams of a human out here in these woods will certainly attract another yokai. We wouldn’t want them to interrupt our little game now, would we?”
  103.
  104.
  105. --The listener nods.--
  106.
  107.
  108. Speaker (amused)
  109. “Good mouse…”
  110. [Light kiss]
  111. (Laughs, condescendingly)
  112. “How quaint, how amusing. You thought you could outrun me? I did try to warn you before you decided to run off. Unfortunately, it wasn’t much of a chase. I could track you down no matter where you could run off too. Even outside of my grounds, I could still find you just by the essence you give off.”
  113. [PAUSE]
  114. “But I admire your spirit. It's endearing mouse. So how about it mouse, shall we continue? Or have you had enou--!”
  115.
  116.
  117. --The listener manages to knock the wind out of them. They seemed to have found their second wind and begin to run faster.--
  118. [Kick/punch, then rapid footsteps running away.]
  119.
  120.
  121. Speaker (angrily shouting in the distance.)
  122. “You can’t run from me human! These woods belong to me just as you belong to me!”
  123.
  124.
  125. [Running continues, but a second pair of footfalls are close behind. *Growling, snapping, yips, and snarls can be heard as they run through the woods.*]
  126.
  127.
  128. Speaker (clearly, as if inside the listener’s head, tauntingly)
  129. “So close... yet so far.”
  130. [BRIEF PAUSE]
  131. “You’re quite cute when you’re flustered. I’ll admit, I didn’t expect you to try so hard to escape.”
  132. [BRIEF PAUSE]
  133. “You're almost there. Just a little further and you’ll be close to the final torii gate!”
  134. [BRIEF PAUSE]
  135. “You’re so adorable when you run, little mouse, but you better quicken your pace I am close, so close I can almost grab you...”
  136.
  137.
  138. [Sound of sudden rush and then a thud as the listener is tackled to the ground]
  139.
  140.
  141. Speaker (now upon the listener, tauntingly)
  142. “Caught you! Ah!! What a shame, what a shame! Unfortunately, you just missed your only opportunity out of here. Look how close you were though!”
  143. [Laughs]
  144. “I also must admit you caught me by surprise earlier, I was not expecting you to fight back! Tsk, tsk! Naughty mouse, I should really teach you some manners. Ahh, but we will have time for that soon enough… now let me bring you back into my arms, where you belong.”
  145.
  146.
  147. --Listener begins to struggle again, weakly though as they are already exhausted, as the speaker lifts them up.--
  148.
  149.
  150. Speaker (sternly)
  151. “Enough of that little mouse, I will not let you get the best of me again.
  152.
  153.
  154. --Listener continues to attempt a struggle.--
  155. [Struggling, *leaves rustling*, *gravel/dirt shuffling*]
  156.
  157.
  158. Speaker (something suddenly snaps, louder, enraged, but with a hint of despair.)
  159. “I SAID ENOUGH! Please, stop making me out to be a monster! I don’t want it to be like this either, but what choice do I have. Why do humans always run?”
  160.
  161.
  162. --Listener stills.--
  163.
  164.
  165. Speaker (rage calming down, despair and obsession remain)
  166. “You think you’re the first to try to leave me? The first to resist? You won’t survive it. You will never leave. Not now. Not ever. I will remake you, mold you into my perfect little mate... My eternal little mouse. I’ll make sure you never want to leave again. I’ll give you everything you’ve ever wanted, and more.”
  167. [Deep sigh]
  168. (Calmer, almost pleading)
  169. “I’m sorry I frightened you, but I had no other choice. Whether you realize it or not… I need you human, and I promise you I never want to harm you, but I need you to stay with me because I really do cherish you… I really do.”
  170. [BRIEF PAUSE]
  171. (Sternly)
  172. “Now… up you go!... Sorry, I have to carry you like this, but I doubt you’d be going back without you dragging your feet.”
  173.
  174.
  175. --Listener under sobs, still attempting to fight, “why did you choose me?”--
  176.
  177.
  178. Speaker (calm but voice warming up again)
  179. “Why did I choose you? You see, my dear, foxes bond for life, and I've already chosen you to spend this eternity with. You are mine, and I am yours. Besides, I’ve waited so long for someone like you to come along. Someone who would never leave me. Now that you’re mine, I promise that you will never know a day of loneliness again. You will never have to desire anything else because you won’t need to. I’ll be all you’ll ever need. You were always meant to be here, little mouse. All of this, these woods, the shrine, my magick, it’s all for you. I will never let you go, and if I must, I will break you, slowly, until you start to understand how deeply I care for you.”
  180. (Calmly)
  181. “Now, let's return to the shrine. There's much to discuss about our future together.”
  182. (Now whispering in their ear as they pulls the listener close, their voice dripping with both affection)
  183. “It’s so much easier when you stop fighting me. Let go, little mouse. Let me show you how sweet surrender can be.”
  184.
  185.
  186. [Sound of footsteps returning to the shrine]
  187. <Script Ends>
