  1. // Preface:
  2. This is not a CONCLUSIVE list of all skill names or descriptions that were changed, it only highlights the more notable changes, particularly to skill names.
  3. A brief summary of our reasoning for changing some of these skill names and descriptions will be available for each skill where a summary is warranted.
  4.
  5. The flavor text present in several skills (examples: Queen's Command (now Queen's Orders,) The Unsinkable Lucky Ship, Battle Buster) has been removed as we felt that flavor text causes clutter. We believe skill descriptions should be clear and straight to the point, therefore flavor text is unnecessary.
  6. However, we would love to hear your feedback on this topic. If you like the flavor text and think it doesn't cause any clutter, let us know! And if you think this change is positive, we'd also love to hear that.
  7.
  8. No skills have had their stats or effects changed. Some have had their skill descriptions elaborated on or clarified (see Eldridge's "Operation Rainbow" skill as an example) but no buffs or nerfs have taken place as a direct result of these skill name and/or description changes.
  9.
  10.
  11.
  12.
  13. // Generic Command Skills (several ships)
  14. - A handful of Command skills were changed to be in the plural form where appropriate, e.g. "Artillery Command: Destroyer" became "Artillery Command: Destroyers."
  15. - "Air Command: All" was changed to "Aviation Command: All" to make it more clear that it's an AVI-boosting skill, not an AA-boosting skill.
  16.
  17. // Sendai
  18. - "Mining Fleet" was corrected to "Torpedo Squadron" to be more in line with the Japanese name of the skill.
  19.
  20. // Tirpitz
  21. - "Magnetic Torpedo" was changed to "Magnetic Torpedoes" as she fires several torpedoes, not just one.
  22. - "Lonely Queen of the North" was changed to "Lone Queen of the North" for consistency.
  23.
  24. // Scharnhorst & Gneisenau
  25. - "Torpedo Barrage" was changed to "Torpedo Launch" since it has more in common with a regular wave of torpedoes fired from the Vanguard Fleet than with proper torpedo barrages, such as Yukikaze's or Kaga (BB)'s.
  26. - "Battle Buster" had its flavor text removed.
  27.
  28. // Exeter & Portland
  29. - "Defensive Order" was changed to "Defense Order."
  30.
  31. // Extreme Evasion (several ships)
  32. - "Extreme Evasion" was changed to "Emergency Maneuvers" to be more in line with the Japanese name of the skill.
  33.
  34. // Universal Bulin & Prototype Bulin MKII
  35. - Though their skills serve absolutely no practical function in battle, these skills still activate when you sortie them in a fleet. Only these skill names that appear when in combat with them have been changed.
  36. Their skills have been changed from "Engineer skill, buli!" which is followed by "Nothing happens, buli..." to "BULIN used SKILL!" which is followed by "But nothing happened!" to be more in line with their Japanese skill names. Their Japanese skill names are formatted and worded in a way that is highly reminiscent of battle text from the Japanese version of the 1st generation of Pokémon games.
  37.
  38. // Pennsylvania
  39. - "Avalanche" was changed to "Sister Penn" to be more in line with the Japanese name of the skill. Additionally, "Sister Penn" is the nickname that Pennsylvania goes by in her dialogue.
  40.
  41. // Arizona
  42. - The flavor text in the description for "Eagle's Tears" was removed.
  43.
  44. // South Dakota
  45. - "Aegis" was changed to "The Strongest Shield" to be more in line with the Japanese name of the skill. Furthermore, this change felt warranted as there are instances where characters directly mention this quasi-nickname of hers. One example would be Kirishima, who, when sortied together with South Dakota, says she wants to see if she is worthy of the nickname.
  46.
  47. // Langley & Houshou
  48. - "Aviation Vanguard" was changed to "First-Generation Carrier" to be more in line with the Japanese name of the skill.
  49.
  50. // Amazon
  51. - "Prototype Ship" was changed to "Prototype Destroyer" both for specificity (Amazon is a destroyer, after all) and to be more in line with the Japanese name of the skill.
  52.
  53. // Queen Elizabeth
  54. - "Queen's Command" was changed to "Queen's Orders" both to make is less prone to being confused for a Command skill (it is not; it can stack with almost every other Command skill) and to be more in line with the Japanese name of the skill. The skill also had its flavor text removed.
  55.
  56. // Ark Royal
  57. - "Sword Launch" was changed to "Swordfishes, Strike!" as the original name was a little confusing; Ark Royal launches Swordfishes, not swords. Ark Royal is not Gilgamesh.
  58.
  59. // Yuudachi
  60. - "Solomon's Nightmare" was changed to "Nightmare of Solomon" because we believe that sounds a little bit better.
  61.
  62. // Shigure
  63. - "Sasebo Shigure" was changed to "Shigure of Sasebo."
  64.
  65. // Laffey
  66. - "Solomon's Wargod" was changed to "Wargod of Solomon" for the same reason as Yuudachi's skill was changed.
  67. - "Vanquish Mode" was changed to "Annihilation Mode" to be more in line with the Japanese name of the skill.
  68.
  69. // Ning Hai & Ping Hai
  70. - "Sisterly Love" was changed to "Sisterly Bond" to be more in line with the Japanese name of the skill and to be more in line with Yat Sen's skill which is called "Dragon Empery Bond."
  71. - "Sakura Resistance" was changed to "For The Dragon Empery" both for clarity at a glance (are they *with* the Sakura Empire and resisting something, or are they part of a resistance *against* the Sakura Empire?) and to be more in line with the Japanese name of the skill.
  72.
  73. // Avrora
  74. - "Worldbuster Boom" was changed to "Revolyutsiya" both to be more in line with the Japanese name of the skill and because... well, "Worldbuster Boom" sounds stupid.
  75.
  76. // Z23
  77. - "Ironblood Vanguard" was changed to "Iron Blood Vanguard." The faction's name is often misspelled, but "Iron Blood" with a space separating the 2 words is the correct way to write it.
  78.
  79. // Yuubari
  80. - "Prototype Ship: Patrol" was changed to "Prototype Cruiser" both for specificity (Yuubari is a cruiser) and to be more in line with the Japanese name of the skill.
  81.
  82. // Graf Zeppelin
  83. - "Wing of Iron Blood" was changed to "Iron Blood Wings."
  84.
  85. // Ayanami
  86. - "Supernatural" was changed to "The Demon" to be more in line with the Japanese name of the skill. Furthermore, Ayanami is sometimes called a "demon."
  87.
  88. // Eldridge
  89. - The description of "Operation Rainbow" was expanded; the skill now describes the (previously hidden) 20 second cooldown that exists at the start of the match before the skill can activate and the 20 second cooldown that activates at the same time as the skill's primary effect (granting 100% evasion rate to the whole Vanguard Fleet) does. As mentioned earlier, this skill has NOT been nerfed, it has always functioned like this.
  90.
  91. // Nowaki
  92. - "Gambler's Ship" was changed to "Lucky(?) Ship" to be more in line with the Japanese name of the skill.
  93.
  94. // Javelin
  95. - "Assault Mode EX" was changed to simply "Assault Mode." As we feel that the "EX" part in this skill (and many other barrage skills, in particular) serves no purpose and might even cause some confusion, we have decided to remove all mentions of "EX."
  96.
  97. // Jintsuu
  98. - "Torpedo Command: Sea" was changed to "2nd Torpedo Squadron" both to make is less prone to being confused for a Command skill and to be more in line with the Japanese name of the skill.
  99. - The description of "The Unyielding Jintsuu" had its formatting updated to look better.
  100.
  101. // Jamaica
  102. - "Friends of Justice" was changed to "Allies of Justice."
  103.
  104. // Belfast
  105. - The description of "Smokescreen: Light Cruisers" was updated to clarify which parts of the skill stack and which don't.
  106.
  107. // Tanikaze
  108. - The description of "Miracle Wind" was corrected. The skill's previous effects claimed it increased her FP and increased the damage she takes from enemy aircraft; now it correctly says it increases her EVA and decreases the damage she takes from enemy aircraft.
  109.
  110. // Yukikaze
  111. - The flavor text in the description for "The Unsinkable Lucky Ship" was removed.
