  1. I want to propose a potential timing method for botw (and possibly other games if it makes sense).
  2.
  3. Basically the problem with RTA is that some people's systems or versions will be identical except that they have different load times. Let's say we use image processing software to subtract the load times from the run so that every one has the same load time (0 seconds). The concern is if we do that then there are potential routing changes because loading times don't count. You might warp more times and end up with a slower RTA route, which is not the intent of this change.
  4.
  5. So another way to do it is to calculate Effective RTA times. That is to say, calculate the load times and then add/subtract time to the run based on the difference of the loading time to a reference run. Your run will have the same load times still (whatever the length of the reference run) except the expected load lengths are still preserved. This means that you will still use the same route as RTA while keeping consistent loads. Also you have the added benefit that your Effective RTA time will be very similar to your RTA time instead of being like 5 minutes faster.
  6.
  7. Curious what people's thoughts are.
