  1. Should LEGO city™️ recognize Israel as a legitimate state
  2.
  3.
  4. Lego CITY™️ is an independent political territory with its own government. The location of LEGO city™️ is unknown so we can’t use the geo-political aspects when talking about relations between these two entities so the only viable data we have comes from the economics and social structure of these two “countries”.
  5.
  6.
  7. Economics
  8.
  9. There are many reasons why LEGO city™️ residents would like for LEGO city™️ to have good economic relations with country such as Israel; First of all, LEGO city™️ has a strong foothold in the oil industry with their company Octan Energy™️ and Israel has a growing oil consumption trend. Other major industries in LEGO city™️ include Airborne™️ a spoiler company, an unnamed government run vehicle manufacturer and garage and parking service, and Air CARGO™️, an airplane manufacturer that owns one of the cities airports (the Fly CARGO™️ also owned a LEGO city mine but decided to sell it in 2013). Airplane industry wasn’t just limited to Fly CARGO™️, other air transport companies include Airoline™️ and AirSquare flights™️.
  10.
  11. LEGO city™️ has no data on importing any goods but we do know that the most exported LEGO city™️ goods include many types of gems and metals such as aluminium and iron as well as planks (from the Fly CARGO™️ set), fruits, canned food and different types of vehicles. Israel is in desperate demand of aluminium considering that their export of aluminium is currently 5.5 times lower than it was in 1995 and their import of aluminium has grown drastically in the past 5 years; as previously mentioned it is a fact that LEGO city™️ exports aluminium, therefor this situation could benefit both countries.
  12.
  13. Israels biggest exports are computer parts and Diamonds and considering that LEGO city™️ doesn’t have a single computer store and only one confirmed jewelry store the diamonds and computer parts wouldn’t prove to be that useful.
  14.
  15.
  16. Ethnic matters and social structure
  17.
  18. In 2020 there are zero people of LEGO city™️ ethnicity living in Israel, however there are several confirmed Jews in LEGO city™️. I managed to find around 60 Jewish minifigures of which 10 of them were members of Israel Defense Force. At first I questioned what the Israel defense forces were doing in LEGO city™️ but then I remembered I was writing about a fictional ethnostate of yellow midgets. The supreme leader of LEGO city™️ Major Gleeson is known for wearing white Marshal uniform from which we can assume it is a country with a totalitarian regime (Jews don’t really like totalitarian regimes for variety of reasons). Lego city also has only two tv channels, both of them owned by lego city so the freedom of speech is not very supported. Israel is ranked highly on the freedom of speech spectrum and is a very capitalist country which is contrary of the LEGO cities current situation.
  19.
  20. In the recent history it has been shown that the people hold the power in a modern country, luckily for the supreme leader Gleeson Lego city isn’t a modern country and people don’t really have the right to affect different state maters so whatever she chooses wont have an affect on her political popularity, though if she was to recognize Israel it would probably lead to an inner conflict in LEGO city™️.
  21.
  22.
  23. Relations between LEGO™️ company and Israel
  24.
  25. Lego specifically states on their website that they do not approve products that contain "religious references including symbols, buildings, or people." It is posed here that Lego City™️ perhaps would not recognize Israel as a legitimate state, as Israel was built on the premise of religious reference.
  26.
  27. But, is this true? Let's dig deeper.
  28.
  29. It was prior to this that Lego's founder, Ole Kirk Christiansen, and his family were actually prominent in the Indre Mission, today considered a predominately Bible fundamentalist sect of Christianity. In fact, one of the few ever religious Legos was a Danish glow-in-the-dark cross produced in 1952. The founder of Lego would hold morning prayer sessions at the original factory. On the importance of his father's Christiansen's faith, his son, Gotfred, was quoted in a 1980s interview stating:
  30.
  31. "I am convinced that Father’s faith in God, which was evident in everything he did, helped carry him through his grief and the difficulties that followed. His faith made him [an] active man. It gave him the courage and solace that enabled him to take on new responsibilities—and the strength to see a job through despite hardship."
  32.
  33. So, if its creators were devout Christians, then wouldn't the Jewish state be less likely to be recognized?
  34.
  35. The answer is not quite. In fact, it has been shown Christian fundamentalists, above all other sects, are more likely to support Jewish control of Jerusalem in Israel than do Protestants, Catholics or secular Christians. This is, however, not conclusive evidence of Lego City™️'s stance on the Jewish state of Israel, as there is no concrete line drawn that all Fundamentalists are Christian Zionists or not. However, it may suggest that it is more likely that the original founders of Lego City™️ would back the validity of Israel.
  36.
  37. Furthermore, in the Lego Movie (2014), the main character, Emmet, a Lego character, makes significant progress in the story when he enters the "real world," only to discover that the Legos are being built by a "non-Lego" boy named Finn. Thus, it is further evidenced that, especially in recent years, despite Lego™️'s policies on religious references made from Lego bricks, that there is an acknowledgement, that not all items in the world are built of Legos.
  38.
  39. In conclusion, yes. While there is likely no place for an Israel built from Legos™️ like those in the Lego City™️, the Lego City™️ is very likely to support the nation state of Israel, whose buildings since the 1948 creation of Israel, have, to support the massive influx of immigrants, been made out of concrete, not Lego™️.
