- Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers - American Girl: 10 Whenever it came time for the family road trip, packing the right CDs was key. With my dad in the driver's seat, big in the rotation were rock greatest hit albums: Springsteen, Styx, U2, Journey, Guns N Roses, etc played well in the van. But the one song that most symbolized to me that vacation had started, that we were en route to escape to this year's summer fun, was the opening track off ol' reliable: Tom Petty's greatest hits. Those first notes can still bring me back to years of blended together memories of miles upon miles of highway. Even nowadays, when Spotify playlists rule the road and I'm occasionally behind the wheel, summer doesn't truly start until American Girl plays over the car speakers.
- Weezer - Island in the Sun: 10 Can Rivers Cuomo even get a tan? Inquiring minds want to know
