- The spectre of death haunts us all
- Regardless of who we are or what we have
- Or what we’ve done or where we’ve been
- We all come face to face with mortality
- All that we did
- All that we had
- Decays and rots
- Whether rich or poor
- Death strikes all equally
- It does not care about title
- It does not care about status
- It does not care about wealth
- All it cares about is removing the world of a life
- For as long as humanity has existed
- It has always tried (unsuccessfully) to triumph over death
- Mankind have spent vast resources
- Vast amounts of talent
- Vast amounts of wealth
- To try to triumph over death
- And yet, it has always failed
- Death smiles and chuckles
- No matter how hard people have tried
- None have been able to evade it
- He still collects the bodies
- Drains them of their life force
- And proceeds to take them into the great beyond
- We don’t know what happens to the body after death
- It’s one great big mystery
- And that lack of knowledge
- Haunts mankind
- And yet, it’s probably for the better that we not know
- ‘Cause if we did, we probably wouldn’t be very happy with that knowledge
- But in the end, regardless of what happens to us after death
- We all face it in various ways
- Death strikes us all
- That is the surest aspect of the lives we live
- And so long as Death continues to make his rounds
- And so long as we grow old and grey
- And so long as the years fly by
- We will all someday be called to the great beyond
- That lies outside the visible world
- That great beyond
- That perpetual rest
- Which all will ultimately face
- Though most would rather not
