- >People milled about talking happily to each other as they waited for the performance to begin, Lulu sticking closer to your side as she was no doubt nervous being around so many people, while Sammy was much more outgoing, exchanging greetings and idle chatter with various people as they tried to find a good seat to watch the show.
- >You idly tossed some popcorn into your mouth, enjoying the slight crunch as you chewed the salty treat. your eyes scanning the crowd for any familiar faces as you did.
- >Little events like this were common, always something new happening, and as you walk towards the seating area you mind drifts to the first time you'd ever taken Lulu out on the town.
- >She had only been living with you for a few short weeks at the time, still jumping at every shadow and overreacting to every perceived failure, but you didn't really fault her for it.
- >You'd seen the state that Tobias had left her in, not that you had known the bastard had been the one responsible, and you knew that it would take some sort of insanity to be able to simply bounce back from such a traumatic event.
- >But still, you wanted to do something nice for her, to show her that you were on her side, that you cared.
- >So, you took her into town.
- >She had been trepidatious at first, but you'd somehow managed to convince her to come along.
- >The gasp she'd let out upon seeing the Flying robins catch each other in midair had brought a smile to your face, as had her cheering at the end of the show.
- >Seeing that happy glow about her as she watched the couple soar through the air had made your heart flutter all those years ago.
- >Lulu's hand found yours as the three of you continued to walk, giving it a loving squeeze.
- >"I think I see a few open seats that way, Sir!" Lulu said, pointing in the direction where she'd spotted the seats.
- >"Good eye Lulu!" you replied, tapping Sammy on the shoulder and pointing out the seats Lulu had found.
- >Soon the three of you were seated, your girls sitting on either side of you and letting a comfortable silence fall between the three of you as you all listened to the ambient sounds of the people milling about and enjoying the smells of the various food stands.
- >Finally, the show began, with a squat smiling man walking out beneath the tightropes and trapeze before speaking into a bullhorn.
- >"Ladies and Gentlemen! It's Amazing to be back after all this time!" He cried out, giving the crowd a moment to cheer before continuing. "Now, let's get this show started, by introducing our performers! The Amazing Svetlana and the Astounding Andre! Our own Flying Robins!"
- >In two plumes of smoke a pair of Androids appeared on either side of the announcer, The more feminine of the two sporting a shining silver coat of paint that gave her a retro-futuristic feel alongside her hair which gave off a very lunar impression, while the more Masculine was a brilliant gold who's lion-like hair gave the impression of the sun, with the two of them bowing to the polite applause of the audience.
- >"So, Svetlana, Andre, any comments to your adoring public?" the squat man asked the two androids as they came out of their bows.
- >Svetlana nodded, taking the bullhorn out of the man's hands, "Please do not try this at home! Andre and I are professionals who have been performing for years!" she called out, a slight edge of worry in her voice before handing off the bullhorn to a smiling Andre.
- >"In addition, out bodies are specifically designed to be able to survive long falls! So just let us take the big risks, 'kay?" The golden Android said in a jocular tone.
- >"Wise words from the both of you!" the man chipped in. "Now why don't you two get to your starting positions and we'll give these people a show!"
- >The crowd cheered as the two approached their ladders, before quieting as the two stood on opposite ends of the tightrope.
- >With grace beyond the human baseline the two began to approach each other, and the crowd let out a shocked gasp as Andre pitched forward, only to roar with approval as he managed to land on his hands and continue to traverse the tightrope.
- >Finally the two approached each other at the tightrope's center, and the crowd went absolutely wild as Svetlana jumped into the air and landed with pinpoint precision on the ends of Andre's feet before striking a elegant pose.
- >The cheering only increasing in volume as Svetlana did a flip and landed in a handstand on Andre's feet.
- >Sammy gasped before letting out a delighted squeal as Andre kicked his feet upwards sending Svetlana spiraling in the air before tossing himself airborne as well before the two landed with catlike tread and made their way to the opposite ends of the tightrope to thunderous applause.
- >And on and on the show went, from more tightrope acrobatics to multiple death defying leaps on the trapeze, until it was time for the grand finale.
- >"Behold ladies and gentlemen! the Ring of Lightning!" the squat man cried out as a device he'd placed on the ground telescoped upwards, ending in a ring that gave off visible sparks of electricity.
- >"I don't remember that from their old performance," Lulu said, worriedly looking at the sparking ring.
- >"I'm sure it's perfectly safe, they wouldn't risk such a dangerous stunt without safety precautions, right Master?" Sammy asked, though it was obvious she was just as worried as Lulu was.
- >And despite the sinking feeling in your gut you nodded along with Sammy's statement, "I'm sure it's perfectly safe." but even as you said them the words felt like a lie.
- >"Ten million gigavolts of electricity are flowing through the ring you see before you!" the man cried into his bullhorn. "And now Andre is going to swing directly though it and catch the trapeze bar waiting on the other side to swing safely into Svetlana's waiting arms!"
- >The crowd roared as Andre grasped the trapeze bar in his hands, taking a leap that sent him flying through the air.
- >Roars of approval quickly turned into screams of terror as one of the trapeze bar's ropes snapped, sending Andre into an uncontrolled tumble through the air before he slammed directly into the sparking ring.
- >A blinding light filled the air as Andre was electrocuted, his scream cutting off into garbled noise as his vocal unit was fried to a crisp before he exploded in a crimson fireball.
- >Blinking away the spots from your eyes as people screamed and ran away from the still burning falling pieces of Andre you found yourself frozen, Lulu and Sammy equally as immobile, until Lulu made a keening sound and her optics went dark.
- >"Lulu!" both you and Sammy cried.
