I can think of a handful of reasons why this would be desirable. For instance, if I have Q This and I stab a reality warper... well, I'm certainly in contact with them, aren't I?

If I can merge all of my hand to hand fighting abilities into a single cohesive style, and pay a surcharge to incorporate magic, ki, and the like... you'd better believe I'm doing it. Sure, it's not anything I'm not already CAPABLE of, but to have it smoothly integrated is an entirely different matter.
