  1. @All: Unfortunately, this thread have some errors about HD-U 1080p philosophy. I’ve talked to a HD-U encoder, and he confirmed some stuff posted do not match to the reality.
  2.
  3. 1) HD-U 1080p only aims to get quality, no matter what the file size may be.
  4. 2) So HD-U 1080p philosophy is different from HD-U 720p. Unlike HD-U 720p, who aims to get best quality at small size, HD-U 1080p is all about quality.
  5. 3) The only parameter about HD-U 1080p, is that for a movie be encoded, is has to be a blockbuster.
  6. 4) You have now thinking about the file size of Insidious 1080p, by DeamoN. Yes, it’s only 6.51 GiB, but that’s because Insidious has a lot of compressiblity, hence it retained its quality, even with a small size. So, the reason why it’s small it’s because of the movie itself, not because the encoder wanted to be like that. In fact, it’s a CRF encode, so the encoder does not mean in advance how big the encode will be.
  7. 5) There is absolutely a way to compare 1080p with m1080p. It’s completely different. As Neo said, it’s a rubbish, imo.
  8. 6) Take notice of this, please. An m1080p file size could be from 4 to 6 GiB, well with that filesize, and that resolution, you better download a 720p, or even a 1080p.
