- Kanagi: Bwahahaha! At last, it's come!
- Kanagi: It's the time of the deceased, when the sun has set and the stars are dancing in the sky...
- Kanagi: ...Yes, it's night!!
- Kanagi: Now, I shall act to fulfill vampirekind's greatest desire...
- Kanagi: And paint this town with death's colors!!
- Kanagi: "Bloody Ruler"...
- Momoko's Voice: Hold it right there!
- Kanagi: Hm?!
- Momoko: You’ve shown your face here yet again! Vampire, Ruler of the Dead!
- Kanagi: Sister Momoko!! You again, knave?!
- Karin: "Okay! Enough for now!"
- Karin: You two were brilliant!
- Karin: It's ten times cooler than I imagined!
- Karin: You're a perfect fit for your roles!
- Mitama: Compared to your first rehearsal, you've improved by an incredible degree since then.
- Momoko: Ahaha, must be 'cuz the script is completely drilled into my head by now!
- Kanagi: When I got invited to participate in rehearsals...
- Kanagi: For a Halloween party stage play...
- Kanagi: It took me aback for a moment, but...
- Kanagi: I want to help make this a festive occasion for everybody much like you all, so I couldn't refuse.
- Momoko: True, everybody is putting their all for this party.
- Karin: I'm counting on you all!
- Mitama: In that case, seeing as everybody is present right now...
- Mitama: How about a run-through of the entire play?
- Karin: That sounds good!
- Momoko: Hm, I'm not too sure...
- Kanagi: I support this idea.
- Kanagi: Acting out the whole thing might let us see which parts are lacking.
- Momoko: Well, if you say so... 'fraid I might drop the ball here or there, though...
- Karin: Even if you mess up. don't sweat it!
- Karin: Okay, as soon as you're ready...
- Karin: From the beginning and until the final battle scene.
- Karin: Let's start!
- Momoko: This strength isn't mine alone!
- Momoko: This is the determination of all the people you terrorized given form!!
- Momoko: Eat this!!!
- Kanagi: Guh...! This cannot be...
- Kanagi: Arghhhhh!!!
- Mitama: "And so, peace returned to the city."
- Mitama: "Thank you, Sister Momoko!"
- Mitama: "Long live Sister Momoko!"
- Karin: "Okay, let's stop here!..."
- Kanagi: Phew...
- Momoko: Man, practicing the whole play at once is no joke. I'm pooped...
- Kanagi: The final act is heavy on action so there is the need to manage stamina wisely, too...
- Mitama: You've all done splendidly, so the hard work paid off, I say!
- Kanagi: Thanks. Your words certainly help boost confidence.
- Kanagi: How did we do, Artist?
- Karin: Well...
- Kanagi: Yes?
- Karin: How should I put it... Something feels off...
- Kanagi: Of course a trained eye like Artist's wouldn't let any flaws go unnoticed, huh.
- Momoko: Improving our performance is, like, the whole point of practice. Go on and give it to us straight!
- Karin: D-don't get me wrong, guys! You all were super awesome during the practice!
- Karin: ...I think my own script is to be blamed here...
- FILENAME: text_311161-2.txt
- Kanagi: Hm. To sum it up, you aren't satisfied with your own script?
- Karin: That’s right...
- Karin: I thought my script had turned out well when I finished it...
- Karin: But now that I've watched the run-through, it no longer feels right...
- Momoko: Well, checking if everything comes together nicely is what full rehearsals are meant for and all.
- Mitama: Can you pinpoint the exact moment something felt amiss to you?
- Karin: It was the last scene...
- Karin: When the vampire, boiling with rage, fought the deciding battle with the sister...
- Karin: That's when something started bothering me a little.
- Karin: Whether it was the build up that led to that scene, or the lines themselves, I don't really know...
- Kanagi: Why, isn't that the centerpiece of the story?
- Karin: It is...
- Momoko: So there's a problem with such an important scene...
- Momoko: I'd really like to help you figure it out, but...
- Kanagi: It's unfortunate, but we're complete amateurs when it comes to scenario writing.
- Momoko: Yeah, wouldn't want to throw you off even more with some useless advice.
- Momoko: I didn't feel particularly bothered at any point while practicing either.
- Kanagi: Maybe it's something that only an artist would be able to notice...
- Karin: Maybe...
- Momoko: Either way, you can relax, Karin.
- Momoko: If it's just a couple changes to the last scene, we can handle it no problem!
- Kanagi: Indeed, we actors shall back you up with our acting however we can.
- Kanagi: Feel free to contemplate the issue until the deadline.
- Karin: You guys...! Yeah, I'm going to give it my all.
- Kanagi: In conclusion, the best thing for us to do right now is to keep practicing.
- Momoko: True.
- Kanagi: Rewatching the play might give Artist a clue in regards to adjusting the script.
- Momoko: Makes sense. Let's not delay it any further and resume our practice right away then!
- Karin: Please start from the fight scene in the middle act.
- Kanagi: That would mean we need to start from the...
- Kanagi: "Bwahahaha... I've been waiting for you, Sister!"
- Kanagi: Line in the script, correct?
- Karin: Yup!
- Karin: "Start!"
- Kanagi: Ahahahaha... Hahahaha...
- Kanagi: Ahahahahahaha!!!!
- Kanagi: I've been waiting for far, far too long!!
- Kanagi: Sister!! My mortal enemy!
- Karin: "Stop, stop, stooop!"
- Karin: Um... Well... Your delivery is too exaggerated all of a sudden...
- Karin: W-what's going on...?
- Kanagi: Oh? The dialogue made you feel like something was out of place, so...
- Kanagi: I thought that changing my acting might make it feel right...
- Karin: You did it for my sake, then!
- Karin: Thank you!
- Karin: Your acting has been 100% on point so far, really...
- Karin: But that felt a little OOC to me just now...
- Kanagi: I see. So that was unnecessary...
- Kanagi: By the way, Artist... What did you mean when you said it was "OOC"?
- Karin: It's, uh, how should I explain it...
- Mitama: It's an acronym for "out of character..." Meaning you weren't quite acting in the way the character would...I believe?
- Karin: That's more or less what I meant.
- Karin: Aha!
- Mitama: Did you figure something out?
- Karin: That must be it!
- Karin: I've been misinterpreting the vampire's personality all along!
- Kanagi: So it's your misunderstanding, then...?
- FILENAME: text_311161-3.txt
- Momoko: So you didn't understand the vampire correctly, then...
- Momoko: But how is it possible for the author to misunderstand their own character's personality?
- Karin: To be exact, I didn't write this character from scratch...
- Karin: She's based on an already existing character...
- Karin: This vampire originally appears in "Magical Kirin".
- Mitama: "Magical Kirin"...
- Mitama: Unless my memory is betraying me, that is the name of your favorite shoujo manga, yes?
- Kanagi: Handling another author's characters must be a complicated matter.
- Mitama: Basically, this play is a story you created...
- Mitama: But you took that character from another work?
- Kanagi: Many of my masters at work also like those so called "derivative works."
- Karin: Yup, exactly.
- Karin: "If it were up to the vampire from "Kirin," how would she react in this or that scene..."
- Karin: That's been my thinking process for writing her lines.
- Momoko: And that's why the dialogue didn't sit right with you in parts, then.
- Momoko: Since you wouldn't stop worrying whether your writing was true to the source material.
- Karin: This vampire is evil by nature, but also kind of enigmatic and has fun at the same time...
- Karin: I was unsure if those traits could be preserved in the stage play...
- Karin: But Nagitan proved my worries unfounded.
- Karin: Her take on the vampire matched the vision I had perfectly!
- Karin: You really understand "Magical Kirin," Nagitan!
- Karin: So you don't need to go out of your way to change your acting!
- Kanagi: I see.
- Kanagi: Certainly, it looks like my laugh back then was overdoing it.
- Kanagi: But as to whether I understand Magical Kirin, though...
- Kanagi: Let's see... I'm not that far into the manga yet...
- Kanagi: At least, I'm pretty sure I've yet to get to any chapters with a vampire in it.
- Karin: That's catastrophical! I'll lend my volumes to you, so get on reading it! Right! Away!
- Kanagi: Doing that would help me understand the character I'm playing even better, yes?
- Karin: No, that isn't why!
- Karin: You simply cannot call your life complete until you’ve read that part!
- Momoko: Oh, you're just fangirling...
- FILENAME: text_311161-4.txt
- Kanagi: (Not long after, I took the whole set of "Kirin" volumes that featured the vampire home with me...)
- Kanagi: (And read it all.)
- Kanagi: (Sure enough, the manga story differed from that of the stage play.)
- Kanagi: (Let's go over the contents once more to sort them out.)
- Kanagi: The vampire arc starts with Phantom Thief Kirin arriving in a certain town.
- Kanagi: On the outskirts of that town stood a castle inhabited by a vampire.
- Kanagi: The vampires and the townsfolk waged a long-running feud that smouldered on for many, many years... Or so the manga tells us.
- Kanagi: Our heroine, Kirin, hears word of a certain treasure from the townsfolk. While originally theirs, it was taken by the vampire long ago. That treasure seems to be the main subject of the story.
- Kanagi: The phantom thief confronts the vampire, wins an epic standoff, and returns the treasure back to the town.
- Kanagi: But this tale doesn't end there.
- Kanagi: The vampire's powers weaken drastically after she loses the treasure.
- Kanagi: The last chapter reveals that the townsfolk take advantage of the vampire's weakened state to advance on the castle and strike her down.
- Kanagi: The townsfolk end up vanquishing the vampire without Kirin's assistance, and peace comes back to the town once more.
- Kanagi: And they all lived happily ever after... The end.
- Kanagi: (A happy ending...)
- Kanagi: (Yes, an unmistakable happy ending...)
- Kanagi: (And yet, why does it make me feel so...)
- Kanagi's Brother: Wow, you're reading manga for girls, Sis? That's not something you see everyday.
- Kanagi: I *am* a girl too, you know.
- Kanagi's Brother: It's drawn so cutely, too. Is it interesting?
- Kanagi's Brother: Let me read it for a sec...
- Kanagi: Hold it!
- Kanagi's Brother: Huh?
- Kanagi: Ah... Well, the thing is...
- Kanagi: The person I got this manga from loves it to death.
- Kanagi: She lent it to me after strongly insisting I read it.
- Kanagi: I'm not going to take the blame if someone other than me damages it...
- Kanagi's Brother: I see. Makes sense, I guess.
- Kanagi: (No...! This isn’t really why I can’t lend it to him...!)
- Kanagi: (In actuality, I don't want my brother to read this vampire arc...!)
- Kanagi: (He would only feel empty upon finishing it...)
- Kanagi: (Yes, emptiness was the only thing that filled my heart after I was done with this arc.)
- Kanagi: (Was it because I perform as the vampire in the play...?)
- Kanagi: (Or, perhaps...?)
- Kanagi: ...What do I make of this outcome...
- Kanagi: It appears the Day of the Dead has taken a liking to throwing me one riddle after another...
- Kanagi: Quite the deceptive fellow, that vampire...

- <The day of the Halloween party>
- Kanagi: The party is finally about to start...
- Mitama: Yes, at last.
- Kanagi: Togame... Are you in good health? No injuries or anything?
- Momoko: Yeah, I'm feeling great. No pain or anything.
- Kanagi: Well, that's a load off my mind.
- Kanagi: After that whole mess at rehearsal the other day...
- Kanagi: I won't try to earn forgiveness with this, but...
- Kanagi: I'll put my best efforts to make our guests hospitable, as one of the hosts for this party.
- Mitama: While you shouldn't let that incident get you down too much, Kanagi...
- Mitama: I'm a little excited at the prospect of watching you serve everyone!
- Kanagi: It might tank the fearsome reputation of the vampire, but...
- Kanagi: I'm going to combine it with the "maid" aspect that I've become familiar with...
- Kanagi: And attempt to create a new combination, the "vampire maid."
- Mitama: I can only hope nothing goes wrong~
- Kanagi: By the way...
- Karin: ...
- Momoko: H-how's it going...? Nevermind, that face makes it obvious...
- Karin: I'm really sorry, guys...
- Karin: I spent so much time trying to fix the last scene...
- Karin: But I haven't come up with anything good yet...
- Kanagi: I see...
- Karin: B-but that doesn't mean I'm calling off our stage play!
- Karin: People are waiting for it, and...
- Karin: Making the best of the time you've got is the way of a pro!
- Karin: Only an amateur would give up halfway just because they couldn't fix some minor issue in time!
- Kanagi: ...Well spoken, Artist!
- Mitama: Showing your work to an audience despite not being personally happy with it...
- Mitama: I think anyone would say that's a very brave thing to do.
- Karin: And I'm very confident in your acting ability!
- Karin: Even if a few lines feel a little off to me, I'm totally sure people will enjoy the play!
- Momoko: Karin...
- Momoko: Okay, we got you covered! We'll definitely knock the cover off the ball!
- Kanagi: ...
- Kanagi: (We need to put on as good a play as we can, even if there might be flaws...)
- Kanagi: (But first things first.)
- Kanagi: (Right now, I must focus on serving our party guests...!)
- FILENAME: text_311162-2.txt
- Emiri: Omigosh! There's, like, so much sweet stuff in here!
- Sasara: Yeah? But we're at Coordinator's place right now, so, you know...
- Mitama: *Giggle*
- Mitama: My own cooking is randomly mixed in with other food~
- Asuka: And so commences the Russian Roulette nobody signed up for...!
- Kanagi: Our guests seem to be having a pleasant time.
- Kanagi: Making sure they're satisfied keeps me that much more busy, but it's a good feeling still.
- Konomi's Voice: Nagitaaan!
- Kanagi: Hm?
- Kanagi: Oh, it's you, Haruna.
- Konomi: Why are you dressed in this outfit, if I might ask?
- Kanagi: Well, it's for a play I'll be performing in soon.
- Kanagi: May as well have it on for the party too...
- Kanagi: Since there won't be many opportunities to show it off later.
- Konomi: Oh, you must be talking about the play Kako will also be acting in.
- Kako: I...I only play a supporting role and don't have many lines myself, though...
- Nanaka: *Giggle* Please do your best on the stage.
- Meiyui: Is it horror? Need a person to play the jiangshi part?
- Kanagi: A jiangshi would be out of place in a play with a Western setting, I'm afraid.
- Kanagi: The play itself is about a confrontation between a vampire and a sister.
- Akira: Vampires are neat.
- Akira: A cool vampire costume is what I'd go with if I had to choose one for myself!
- Nanaka: Oh my, is that so?
- Akira: Huh?!
- Nanaka: And here I was so certain that you had a soft spot for frilly, charming outfits, Akira...
- Akira: Ahaha, no way!
- Akira: Yeah, absolutely, definitely no way!
- Kanagi: Now then, I have food to take to other guests and other business to attend to.
- Kanagi: Please let me excuse myself for the time being.
- Konomi: Okay! Please take care.
- Kanagi: Would you like me to refill your drinks?
- Leila: Hey! It's Kanagi!
- Mito: In a vampire outfit!
- Seika: Yes, please, if you would.
- Kanagi: Understood.
- Leila: ...
- Kanagi: Hm? Is something wrong?
- Leila: Well, having a vampire serve you food at a party is sort of...
- Mito: Bizarre!
- Kanagi: Vampires are generally depicted as masters of either castles or mansions, yes.
- Kanagi: That's why a vampire in the position of a servant might...
- Kanagi: Feel out of place for you and your friends, Ibuki.
- Kanagi: Rest assured, though: my current identity is not that of an ordinary vampire...
- Kanagi: Today, I'm serving guests as a "maid vampire"!
- Seika: Ooh~
- Leila: How is that different from your usual maid Nagitan persona, I wonder~?
- Mito: Let's take a picture together then, maid vampire! An instant one!
- Kanagi: My apologies.
- Kanagi: Cameras can't capture vampires, so it isn't possible to take one.
- Seika: So the only difference is that her service has gotten worse...?
- Mito: A-all right, let's ask for an omurice, then.
- Leila: The most classic dish when it comes to maids, of course...
- Kanagi: I assume you'd like me to add a ketchup drawing, then. Piece of cake.
- Seika: What would a vampire draw?
- Mito: A cute little bat, maybe?
- Kanagi: Your drawing is complete...!
- Mito: W-what is this supposed to be...?
- Kanagi: What you'd expect a vampire to draw using ketchup...
- Kanagi: Blood.
- Leila: Eep?!
- Seika: This maid vampire is quite a character.
- Leila: Maybe too much of a character compared to the normal idea people have of cruel vampires.
- Kanagi: ...?!
- Kanagi: ...
- Kanagi: (The idea of...what vampires are supposed to be like...?)
- Kanagi: (In other words, a preconceived notion...)

- Touka's Voice: Hey, miss vampire maid~
- Kanagi: Hm?
- Touka: Our table is all out of sweets~
- Ui: Ehehe~ Trick or treat!
- Kanagi: Very well. I'll get on it right away.
- Kanagi: I'm curious to learn what tricks you might have in store, Ui...
- Kanagi: But I shall ignore your proposition for now.
- Nemu: So this is the military-style maid there's been so much fuss about.
- Touka: If that's the concept, it seems a bit chaotic, doesn't it?
- Kanagi: Thank you for the wait.
- Ui: That took no time at all!
- Kanagi: I simply borrowed sweets from other tables, that's all.
- Kanagi: Go on and choose whichever delicacies suit your fancy, now.
- Ui: ...
- Kanagi: Hm, is there something else you want? You're staring at me so intently...
- Ui: Ah, not really...
- Ui: Now that I got to see it up close, it’s incredible...
- Ui: So much that it shocked me for a second...
- Kanagi: Are you referring to my outfit...?
- Kanagi: That Yakumo really might've put too much enthusiasm into designing it.
- Kanagi: Accounting for the need to stand out on stage even when viewed from afar may have backfired.
- Nemu: This outfit looks very realistic and skillfully crafted. I must admit as much.
- Kanagi: But if it stands in the way of enjoying the party...
- Kanagi: That settles it. Let me go get myself changed this instant...
- Ui: Hey, hold on, please! It's fine.
- Ui: Your outfit shocked me for a second, sure...
- Ui: But I don't feel intimidated at all because I know that it's you under the costume, Kanagi.
- Kanagi: What you're saying is...
- Kanagi: You already recognize me and can keep your composure because of that.
- Ui: Yep!
- Ui: It'd be a different story if I ran into some stranger wearing this costume on the street.
- Ui: That might have actually scared me.
- Ui: There's no reason to be afraid of you, because we're friends.
- Touka: Nothing wrong with this outfit, really~
- Nemu: A person's inner nature is what truly invokes fear in us.
- Nemu: Conversely, no matter how much a person's outward appearance might clash with their kind personality...
- Nemu: So long as you are aware of their true character, you won't be taken by terror.
- Ui: Maybe a real vampire wouldn't be scary to talk to either, if we ever met one!
- Kanagi: ...Hrmm. I see your point. I shall stay dressed like this, then.
- Touka: Ui is such a baby, all things considered~
- Ui: Huh?
- Touka: Regardless of how nice or evil any vampire might be...
- Touka: There's no reason to be afraid of them in the first place.
- Nemu: Why is that?
- Touka: Come on~ Vampires have as many weaknesses as there are stars in the sky, don’t they~?
- Nemu: That's true, now that you mention it.
- Ui: Yeah, vampires have plenty of easily exploitable weaknesses.
- Touka: Exactly!
- Touka: Let me say it again.
- Touka: There's nothing scary about creatures as critically vulnerable as vampires!
- Kanagi: ...
- Kanagi: BOO!!!!
- Touka: ...?!
- Touka: W-what was that?
- Kanagi: I just decided to get a little angry on behalf of the vampires whose pride is being injured.
- Touka: Geeezzz~!!
- Kanagi: M-my apologies. Making you upset wasn't my intention...
- Kanagi: ―Kanagi― And this is the proof. Do forgive me.
- Touka: ―Touka― Huh, what is this supposed to be...?
- Kanagi: ―Kanagi― This is my expression of love given to Satomi to cancel out the distress I caused.
- Touka: ―Touka― Hmm, you know, this makes me feel more disgust than anything...
- Ui: ―Ui― Touka, please! K-Kanagi looks very cute in this pose, if you ask me.
- Nemu: ―Nemu― I second that sentiment.
- Nemu: ―Nemu― If anything, we might have just witnessed an especially rare sight.
- Touka: ―Touka― ...!
- FILENAME: text_311162-4.txt
- Kanagi: Well then, I have other things to attend to, so if you'll excuse me.
- Ui: Sure!
- Kanagi: Hm...
- Kanagi: (What is this, though...)
- Kanagi: (That round of jesting exchanges with the gremlin trio earlier...)
- Kanagi: (None of it was meant to be serious, and yet...)
- Kanagi: (It brought out a familiar sense of inner discomfort...)
- Kanagi: ...?!
- Kanagi: I-I get it now...!
- Momoko: It's almost time for the stage play.
- Karin: Yeah...
- Mitama: Let's get moving to the stage hall then, shall we?
- Kanagi: Artist! Togame!
- Momoko: Whoa there! What's the emergency, Kanagi?
- Kanagi: It might be finally in my grasp! The proper way to handle that vampire's characterization!
- Karin: Wha?!
- Mitama: Do you mean it?!
- Kanagi: You bet!
- Karin: If you're able to make the vampire true to her original character...
- Karin: It will definitely improve the last scene!
- Karin: The characterization you have in mind... Please tell me all about it.
- Kanagi: But of course.
- Kanagi: First, vampires...
- Leila: Maybe too much of a character compared to the normal idea people have of cruel vampires.
- Kanagi: Have a reputation for being scary, as per those words.
- Kanagi: And I used to think that vampires must be scary, too, because that idea is so prevailingly common.
- Momoko: "Used to"?
- Kanagi: The brat trio did some nitpicking before...
- Touka: There's nothing scary about creatures as critically vulnerable as vampires!
- Kanagi: Vampires don't pose enough of a threat to be feared due to their many weaknesses, they said.
- Mitama: I haven't considered it before, but now that I think about it, that's true.
- Karin: But why do we tend to assume that vampires are scary, then?
- Kanagi: The blame lies with the vicious cycle of ideas... preconceived notions, wouldn't you agree?
- Ui: Maybe a real vampire wouldn't be scary to talk to either, if we ever met one!
- Kanagi: The idea that vampires are "scary" continuously perpetuates itself, amplifying itself further.
- Kanagi: It's a vicious cycle.
- Kanagi: Humans gave up on trying to understand them, and, consequently, became even more afraid.
- Kanagi: And thus created the vampires as we know them today...
- Kanagi: That may be what the vampire arc in "Kirin" was aiming for, too.
- Karin: The manga didn't show us the vampire's point of view at all, if I recall right.
- Kanagi: Because by learning about how a character thinks and feels...
- Karin: The reader loses their fear of them...?
- Kanagi: Yes, that's what I’m getting at.
- Momoko: That being said, um...what's the right way to portray the vampire, then?
- Kanagi: Let me confirm something first.
- Kanagi: How did the end of the vampire arc in "Kirin" make you feel, Artist?
- Karin: Um, it felt like a happy ending with the peace restored to town, I guess...
- Kanagi: Hm, I see...
- Kanagi: As for me, it left me feeling with nothing but void in my chest...
- Karin: Huh...?
- Kanagi: That confirms it.
- Kanagi: That confirms it. Taking into account the previously discussed factors...
- Kanagi: The vampire's proper characterization... Their "true identity" is apparent to me now.
- Kanagi: The vampire's proper characterization is...
- Kanagi: ...You already recognize me and can therefore keep your composure.
- Ui: Yep!
- Kanagi: Good! Things somehow got resolved in time for the stage play...!
- FILENAME: text_311163-1.txt
- Ui: I can't wait to see Kanagi perform on stage along with everyone!
- Touka: At any rate...I'm impressed they were able to prepare an entire assembly hall to perform in.
- Ui: Karin's grandma is letting them borrow this place.
- Ui: I heard she got the reservation for it from a children organization’s meeting.
- Touka: That explains the unfamiliar kids in the crowd.
- Nemu: It's just as they say, "your network is your net worth".
- *Beeeep*
- Ui: Ah, looks like it's starting!
- Momoko: Obviously I'd be here.
- Momoko: Forcing the people of this town to live in fear is unforgivable.
- Kanagi: Stop it with your entitled blabber, human!
- Kanagi: Tonight, for sure.
- Momoko: Today, for sure.
- Kanagi: This impudent mouth...
- Momoko: This heinous soul...
- Kanagi: Will be silenced!
- Momoko: Shall be purified!
- Mitama: "Once upon a time, in a certain town, there was a prideful vampire who threw the town into terror and a sister who desperately strove to make the town peaceful again."
- Mitama: "The two of them, as fated rivals..."
- Kanagi: Let's see if you can handle this!!
- Momoko: I won't give in!!
- Mitama: "On clear nights."
- Momoko: NOW!!
- Kanagi: Ugh...!
- Mitama: "On rainy nights."
- Kanagi: I swear on the pride I hold as a vampire... I'll force you to retreat!
- Momoko: This is far from over!
- Mitama: "On sultry summer nights."
- Kanagi: Take this! Rock-Solid Snow Orb!
- Momoko: Such underhanded tactics! Stuffing a rock inside of a snowball...!
- Mitama: "On snowy winter nights."
- Mitama: "Each and every day, they struggled for their lives against each other."
- Mitama: "And yet..."
- Kanagi: Uoohhhh!
- Momoko: Hiyahhhhh!
- Kanagi & Momoko: Urghhh!
- Kanagi & Momoko: ...
- Mitama: "Their powers matched each other's so evenly that their fights would always end in a draw."
- Mitama: "This struggle couldn't continue forever, however."

- Natsuki: Got it!
- Kanagi: Whatever strategy those lowly humans might employ, I care not.
- Kanagi: For there is but one duty for me to carry out...
- Kanagi: Well then, the sun should go down any time now...
- Kako: Milady vampire, if I may...?
- Kanagi: What is it?
- Kako: I'd like to advise against heading to town today...
- Kako: I have this...odd premonition that something bad will happen if you do...
- Kanagi: Your hunches often end up being right on the money, I must admit...
- Kanagi: But I won't back down!
- Kanagi: I'll never retreat until I've fulfilled the will of my ancestors!
- Kanagi: Bwahahaha!
- Kanagi: Ha ha, today at last, you will...
- Momoko: Tah!!
- Kanagi: Gwah!
- Kanagi: What?! Where do you think you're going?!!
- Kanagi: Haah... Haah... I've caught up to you now...!
- Momoko: Tah!!
- Kanagi: Gwah!!
- Kanagi: What...! You mean to run away again...?!
- Kanagi: You've got things you must protect in that direction, bastard!
- Kanagi: It's the town you're fleeing to!
- Kanagi: Haah... Haah... I've caught up to you...
- Kanagi: The town is within a stone's throw away now... There's nowhere left for you to run...
- *Tremble*...
- Kanagi: What?!
- Kanagi: M-my body...it refuses to move...
- Momoko: ...
- Kanagi's Voice: T-this smell must be...
- Kanagi's Voice: G-garlic...? And such huge concentrations of it...
- Momoko: This town holds a huge garlic harvest festival once every four years, and it's tomorrow.
- Momoko: Preparations for it are in progress as we speak.
- Kanagi: You lured me into a trap with your movements...
- Kanagi: Bwahahahaha! I've been underestimating you!
- Kanagi: In my eyes, you were just a weak-minded churchgoer who would never dare risk the town's safety...
- Kanagi: I couldn't have foreseen you pulling such tricks before now.
- Kanagi: ...I admit my loss.
- Kanagi: Finish me off.
- Momoko: ...No, I will not murder you.
- Kanagi: What...
- Momoko: The Lord our God pardons all sins.
- Momoko: If you repent with a sincere heart...
- Momoko: Our merciful hearts shall accept you.
- Kanagi: What... What...!
- <Backstage>
- Karin: ...Any time now...
- Karin: (The prideful vampire is supposed to reveal her trump card, "GC"...)
- Karin: (She will activate "Garlic Canceller"...)
- Karin: (Draining a large amount of her power, yet she will continue to battle to the very end...)
- Karin: (Because the sister showing her mercy...)
- Karin: (Was an unbelievable affront to her vampire pride.)
- Karin: (But I...failed to capture the vampire's character in full.)
- Karin: (And didn't make her sound mad enough while writing...)
- Karin: (But Nagitan, she...)
- FILENAME: text_311163-3.txt
- Kanagi: That confirms it. Taking into account the previously discussed factors...
- Kanagi: The vampire's proper characterization... Their "true identity" is apparent to me now.
- Kanagi: The vampire's proper characterization is...
- Karin: That true form is...?
- Kanagi: It's "the people of Daito", me included.
- Mitama: ...?!
- Kanagi: Obviously, I don't intend to make a baseless claim...
- Kanagi: That "Kirin"'s author used Daito as reference for their manga.
- Kanagi: However, when I take into account the truth I learned when Kyubey granted my wish...
- Kanagi: And the emotions and circumstances we have experienced...
- Kanagi: This vampire and Daito have quite a number of common points between them.
- Kanagi: (And this kind of situation isn't uncommon all around the country either...)
- Kanagi: (That just may be why the author decided to write such a story.)
- Karin: If I remember correctly, in the end...
- Karin: Kirin didn't help out the townsfolk...
- Karin: I just thought it was because she was making sure the townsfolk could fight on their own, but...
- Karin: Kirin must have actually hated the idea of ambushing the vampire.
- Karin: And the story had never shown the vampire attacking the town either...
- Momoko: She hasn't harmed anyone, and yet...
- Momoko: People feared her based on their unfair idea of her and then exterminated her...
- Mitama: She really is...just like us...
- Karin: I-I'm really sorry...!
- Karin: I went and wrote this play...without even realizing what the original story was about...
- Karin: ...But, precisely because of that... For the final scene...
- Karin: The vampire's furious speech has to be spoken in your own words, Nagitan!
- Karin: Nobody can do it better than you!
- Kanagi: What...!
- Mitama: Yes, I think that would be appropriate.
- Kanagi: ...
- Karin: (This is it, Nagitan... Let it all out!)
- Karin: (Let your feelings be heard...!)
- Kanagi: You aim to...offer me mercy... Is that how it's going to be...
- Kanagi: Repentance... Bwahahahaha... Don't think you can get careless just yet...
- Kanagi: We've crossed swords for far too many generations now...!
- Momoko: Yes, you're right...
- Kanagi: You want to end our conflict without resolving the reason behind it, then...
- Kanagi: Thus extending your hand to your enemy, the prideful vampire before you!
- Kanagi: Implying we should forget everything and leave the sins of our ancestors behind!!
- Momoko: Yes, that's exactly it. After all...
- Momoko: Isn't it all water under the bridge now?
- Kanagi: ...?!
- Kanagi: Ahhahahaha!!!
- Kanagi: Since it's all in the past, you think if I just apologize, it's going to be forgive and forget?!
- Kanagi: You're so full of yourself, you damn hypocrite!!
- Momoko: The townsfolk must see me in the same light as you do.
- Momoko: I simply think there's no point to this conflict.
- Kanagi: Has victory clouded your mind with arrogance?! My pride cannot allow this...
- Momoko: I am exceedingly well aware of how prideful you are.
- Kanagi: ...
- Kanagi: ...I could've been long dead by now, but you're still letting me live.
- Kanagi: ...Should I believe you, then?...
- Momoko: Yes. I'm not trying to deceive you. Repent and you shall be forgiven.
- Kanagi: ...Don't regret sparing me.
- Momoko: What?! You’re back on your feet?!
- Kanagi: I activated "Garlic Canceller" just now.
- Kanagi: It temporarily neutralizes garlic at the price of putting my body under enormous strain...
- Kanagi: I can only use this trump card once in my lifetime.
- Momoko: Guh...! Impossible...!
- Kanagi: ...I am a vampire full of pride.
- Kanagi: That's why I will tell you this, and only this, out of my own volition:
- Kanagi: Listen carefully to my confession.
- Momoko: ...?!
- FILENAME: text_311163-4.txt
- Kanagi: ...Express how I... No, how all of Daito feels through my performance...?
- Karin: Yes!
- Kanagi: ...In that case, let me run something by you first...
- Kanagi: About my speech here. Does it have to be filled with anger?
- Karin: Huh?!
- Kanagi: The climax might not be as exciting this way, but...
- Karin: (We did adjust the general plotline together with Togame-senpai and others...)
- Karin: (But most of the lines will have to be improvised...!)
- Karin: (It's all up to you now, guys...!)
- Momoko: You'll repent...of your own will...? Even while knowing you're able to move right now...?
- Kanagi: My pride is already in tatters, to be frank.
- Kanagi: The decision to give up avenging my ancestors didn't come lightly...
- Momoko: Then, why...
- Kanagi: Because, even though my clan and the townsfolk have been opposing each other for so long...
- Kanagi: ...I was never able to find a clear reason why.
- Momoko: ...!
- Kanagi: My clan would only pass down the past grudges and bitterness they bore, not explanations.
- Kanagi: But with time, I understood this: the more oppression from town our kind would face...
- Kanagi: The more we would retaliate in turn.
- Kanagi: "Stop blaming us for our ancestors' faults!" ― I'd always buried those words in my heart.
- Momoko: ...
- Kanagi: Eventually, it was no longer revenge that truly motivated me to fight you lot.
- Kanagi: The anger born from being made to put up with oppression for no particular reason took over.
- Momoko: ...So that's how you felt...
- Momoko: And I was about to force a confession out of you in these circumstances...
- Kanagi: My pride is wounded. My heart is seething with rage.
- Kanagi: Nevertheless...
- Kanagi: I want to be forgiven.
- Momoko: ...And thus you're seeking a compromise.
- Kanagi: I know you and I both are sick of this conflict.
- Kanagi: My heart had already given up on receiving forgiveness.
- Kanagi: "I don't know how to apologize. Destroying my enemy is the only way to break this cycle."
- Kanagi: ...That's what I convinced myself of.
- Kanagi: And if you're just going to tell me that "it's all in the past"...
- Kanagi: Then not reciprocating your actions would just be yet another disgrace to my name.
- Kanagi: Let me say it once more...
- Kanagi: I am remorseful for what I have done to this point. Please forgive me.
- Kanagi: ...Is that enough repentance?
- Momoko: Yes, your confession is accepted!
- Momoko: Now, let me do the same...
- Kanagi: Why are you repenting too...?
- Momoko: I am speaking on behalf of the townspeople.
- Momoko: We unfairly oppressed you based on the past quarrels of our ancestors...
- Momoko: Even though you didn't do anything to deserve it.
- Momoko: I hope you can find it in yourself to forgive us.
- Kanagi: ...Apology accepted.
- Momoko: Thank you.
- Kanagi: Haha, this feels kind of weird... It's like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders.
- Momoko: I feel the same.
- Momoko: I'm sure you can start things over with the townsfolk too, if that's what you wish for.
- Kanagi: Is that so... I would like to hope you're right.
- Momoko: That aside, let me tell you something I've noticed about you!
- Momoko: The town might see you vampires as the incarnation of fear itself, but, hear me out!
- Momoko: After all the time I spent duking it out with you, I came to realize this...
- Momoko: You guys just have a bit of a rough personality, but you aren't bad by nature!
- Kanagi: What are you...
- Momoko: Their impression of you is wrong― that's the whole issue!
- Momoko: They all cling to their irrational fears.
- Momoko: Your "terrifying vampire" reputation precedes you.
- Momoko: As such, I'm gonna do all that's in my power to help make others see you in a better light!
- Kanagi: ... I am indebted to you...
- Kanagi: Let's hold onto these feelings and start tomorrow... Little by little...
- Momoko: The garlic harvest festival is still happening tomorrow.
- Kanagi: ...Let's postpone those plans to the day after tomorrow, then...
- Mitama: "Thus the sister and the vampire joined hands in friendship, bidding farewell to their long conflict."
- Mitama: "And they all lived happily ever after."
- Konomi: The play was a lot of fun~
- Himika: For some reason... I feel really thankful to everybody for putting it together!
- Mitama: Everybody did a great job~ I simply loved it~
- Karin: The play was a success! It's all thanks to you, Nagitan!
- Kanagi: I'm happy to hear that.
- Karin: ...And once more, I'm really sorry.
- Karin: For not being considerate enough while writing the script for the play...
- Kanagi: What matters is that the play was a success.
- Kanagi: Moreover, it left me feeling refreshed from the bottom of my soul.
- Kanagi: Take pride in your work. You have nothing to be ashamed of.
- Karin: T-thank you a bunch...!
- Momoko: I'm feeling refreshed, too...
- Momoko: I mean, I got so into it that some of my own feelings might have slipped in there...
- Karin: Ah. Your acting was awesome, though!
- Mitama: A moment if you would, Kanagi?
- Kanagi: Hm? Is something up?
- Mitama: That resolution to the story... Is that how you honestly feel?
- Kanagi: ...Who can tell? Not me.
- Mitama: Who, indeed...
- Kanagi: If I had to say, this was a desirable, highly idealized outcome...
- Kanagi: If somebody suddenly asked me to let go of everything that happened and call it even for real...
- Kanagi: Would I be able to muster the same words in response?
- Kanagi: I really...don't know the answer to that...
- Kanagi: A lot happened, but this Halloween was a fun one.
