- Q: Are you insane?
- A: Yes.
- Q: Do you take sleep breaks?
- A: Yes, the larger timer always displays my time without sleep breaks, while the smaller timer is constantly going from start to end. The gameplay timer is the one that matters more for leaderboard purposes. I’m allowed to take a sleep break for roughly every 13 hours of gameplay time plus a few extra, so the amount of sleep breaks depends on your final time.
- Q: Why are there 2 timers / what are they for?
- A: The timer that has a lot of information and splits in the top right is the gameplay timer, which only runs while I'm not taking a specified break. The timer in the bottom left is my RTA timer, which will constantly continue until I complete this challenge.
- Q: What are the Wondermail codes used for?
- A: The codes are used to obtain many, many items. The DS games allow you to generate missions with those codes, while the 3DS games are already made and only give you the items immediately. Some of the most useful items are Golden Seeds, Wonder Gummis, Fight Gem, Golden Mask, and Mobile Scarf (in Sky Specifically).
- Q: How many Pokemon are you obtaining?
- A: 413 + 525 (+ starter and partner makes 527) + 144? (Gates can vary) + 779
- Q: Is this a living dex?
- A: Yes, the games track a living dex in various ways, so we must recruit each and every Pokemon as well as each part of its evolution and forms. The only exception to this is Gates to Infinity, which specifically tracks a non-living dex for whatever reason.
- Q: How are Pokemon with different forms like Shellos and Unown tracked?
- A: We get all forms of these. Both colors of Shellos/Gastrodon, all three cloaks of Burmy/Wormadon, and all 28 Unown letters.
- Q: What's your favorite Pokemon?
- A: Turtwig, my favorite type is Ice however.
- Q: Has anyone ever done this before?
- A: People have done each of these runs individually, but never back to back like this.
- Q: What console(s) will this be played on?
- A: I'm playing Wii U Virtual Console for Blue Rescue Team and Explorers of Sky, while playing on 3DS for Gates to Infinity and Super Mystery Dungeon.
- Any further Questions I will try to add / answer below!
- Q: How do you record / stream these games?
- A: Certain DS games are on the Wii U, PMD 1 & 2 included, so I just got an hdmi capture card to record from there. But a hard modded capture card is how I streamed the 3DS games, but you can use an emulator or custom firmware to stream it, just the time is hidden on the leaderboards.
- Q: How do you plan the routes?
- A: In Blue Rescue Team we can use Quicksave manipulation to get the same thing to happen each subsequent playthrough, as long as we replicate the steps we took before. So we load up an emulator with save states and just try things until we get the results we want, write down the steps, and then during the run we can pull them off. If we make a mistake then the rest of the floor will be different, but floors are independent of each other so once we move on we can keep up the manipulation. Blue Rescue Team is the only game where this is possible so far.
- Q: For Blue Rescue Team, why did you choose Meowth and Charmander?
- A: Meowth is chosen because it has the ability Pickup, which not only can give us items that we may want to grab in a manipped run, but it also can be used to change the floor layouts if we know that it can change RNG for the better. Charmander is just because it levels up at the same pace as Meowth, thus meaning levelling up at a bad time is less likely.
- Q: Why aren’t you playing the other games during cutscenes?
- A: For this run we are only allowing one game to be played at a time to make it easier to verify. It also seems not fun as a runner nor as a viewing experience.
- Q: What are the Pokedex Trackers you use?
- A: For BRT and Gates I use Bobchao’s Pokedex Online Tracker: https://pco.bobchao87.com
- For Sky I use DoctorMiawoo’s Tracker: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1a2rlPsShJmAlFxD7dl1nfykYdcYyjnPq8y6JPtEtNlY/edit?usp=drivesdk
