New York City, a melting pot of culture, jobs, people, and the newest addition, genetic mishaps.
One night in early 2015, a blinding flash of light overtook the city. No one could seem to figure out what caused this light. Neither meteorologists, astronomers, geologists, conspirators, no one could reach an agreement on what it was. So they forgot about it. It was logged into the deep internet, and only a handful of message boards and over-zealous science students even look at it.

However, several months later, incidents began occurring all over the city. People were lifting cars, surviving hundred foot falls, lighting themselves on fire and surviving. Images and pictures sprang up all over the internet, causing debate among top notch scientists, fear began to sow in the people's minds, the military got deployed, it was an international incident.
Any person found was classified, neutralized, and taken into government testing as soon as they were discovered, leaving most superhumans in hiding and in fear.
Some made very tight, difficult-to-navigate contracts with the police force and started work as superheroes.
Others turned to a life of crime, and with their new powers created crime syndicates seemingly overnight.

Things have settled down immensely since then, and while the military presence is still visible, it isn't nearly as strict as it was when it was first instated.
However, on this day, life took a sharp turn for you, whoever you might be.
Walking the alleys of New York, whether by mistake or as a regular route, a sudden surge of something hit you, and when you awoke, you discovered a new force stirring inside of your body.
You're still a fledgling, your powers are only just beginning to blossom, but whether you use them for good, evil, or yourself, is entirely up to you.

You decide to fill out a stat-sheet, keep track of your growth, so you list some pretty important stuff, things that may change as time goes on.
